Hello XDA,
I usually try not make threads in here if i need help,i just search here and on the internet,i bought the device a couple of months ago and everything i tried didn't work,so here is my last resort,i need help!
So my problem is when i use ANY keyboard, be it stock or third party there's a noticeable lag when i tap quickly and by quickly i mean anything more than one tap per second, where i will heave the tapping sounds all at once after a short delay then only half if any of the taps registered,it is extremely frustrating.
I have updated to 4.4,even tried new firmware through odin, fully wiped etc, nothing is working.
Is that happening to anyone else?
Anyone?
Anyone?
What about the Google keyboard? That's the one I use and there's no lag. I notice lag with the Samsung keyboard and the swift key keyboard.

For the first time I'm experiencing some lag with the Aria. It isn't horrible, but it wasn't there before and I'm curious.
Of course, I don't know if it's due to R012 (and rooting) or some change in Google Voice, or something else.
I have 104megs of available phone memory and over 3 gigs of sdcard.
Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas?
Google voice has always been a little slow for me on the aria, when i press the icon it takes a few seconds to load but after that I have no more issues.
I have definitely been having this problem with the recent versions of GV. I think it all began when they tossed in the widgets, although I'm not using them. As of right now it can take my Liberated Aria up to 30 secs to pull up a text message. Absolutely insane.
Does anyone happen to have an older .apk of GV that didn't include the widgets?
I too have been experiencing the same issue. The lag is awful! Only started with the latest update.

Yea, I've noticed the keyboard is very laggy sometimes. Using swype got rid of that for me.
Don't know exactly what I did. But it's not lagging anymore. Jackjackpa you mentioned switching keyboards. I did install a modded version of the HTC keyboard I wonder if that did the trick for me as well.
Hey everyone, not sure this is the right section but here goes.
I am running a rooted att 2.3.4 atrix and using swype. my keyboard randomly collapses while i am typing. i dont thing im hitting a specific button or anything, just randomly decides that im done typing. usually happens after occasionally right as i swype a word, as in just when a new word is inputted.
any ideas?
Thanks
edit: ps was working fine last week, no changes in software since this started happening
Had this problem when I first had my Astrix. I solved it by completely deleting my "dictionary" and disabling it. Lg you go on settings and on input then choose keyboard settings, you will find your personalised dictionary filled with words that you have been using which are not included in the phone's dictionary (usually slaNg words).
Sorry for any typos. I am Swyping half asleep here. If you mange to solve your problem, which I am sure you will. Don't forget to give thank me.
Let me know how it goes.

thanks for the response. I deleted my user dictionary but cant find the setting to disable it, still having the keyboard issue. i am running att 2.3.4 if that helps.
cheers
Weird. That did the trick for me. Unfortunately, I am on CM7 at the moment and I don't think I think the keyboard settings are different or they have been moved but keep looking for a way to disable the user dictionary and see what happens.

Ive recently started to have this problem too with swype. Ive also typed words and have seen the travel path trace but no words show up. i have to close then reopen the keyboard. looking for a fix. Im unrooted on Bell
I have updated my Lenovo Ideapad K1 to JB4.2.2 using goo.im/devs/kaschemme/cm10.1/wifi/cm-10.1-20130719-NIGHTLY-k1.zip. All seems to be working well, except that the keyboard will randomly disappear when I am typing into pretty much any application that takes input.
The pattern is somewhat random, but the following may be patterns:
- keyboard disappears after hitting spacebar and any letter (i.e. first letter of any word)
- keyboard disappears if backspace is hit more than once in succession
- keyboard does not come back by tapping input area unless done several times or tablet is left to itself for 10 seconds or so.
Thus far:
- I have searched the forums and have cleared the cache and data from the keyboard (did not fix the problem);
- I have searched the forums and have tried an alternate keyboard (did not fix the problem); and
- I have tried to reply to the actual forum forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357353 that is being monitored by "kaschemme" - and was turned away because I don't know the secret handshake.
Some forums suggest that this is a memory problem. If so, any recommendations as to reducing the memory taken by background applications would be appreciated - or finding a very low memory keyboard, etc.
Thanks,
MNBob
I had the same problem.
After installing the correct gapps, everything was fine.
Look for gapps and "non-neon".

As stated above, make sure you use the non neon gapps. I also have loaded the Google keyboard from the Play store. I never have had issues with it. I have had issue with CM AOSP keyboard in the past.

I have stock Note 3 and I've been running into issues with a lag or delay while using Swype in hangouts and other apps. I'm assuming it's an issue with Swype and it causes me to lose whole words. I wish the other Swype-esque keyboards were as good, but even the Google keyboard gets wrong more often than not compared.
The new hangouts has some additional issues for me where nothing I type shows up and the send button doesn't replace the camera location. I usually have to change keyboards to fix it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are not the only one...
Thought I was going crazy. But yes - definitely a Swype + Hangouts issue afoot.
Not sure if this is the place for help - I'd think hitting the Swype forums is best shot (which is my next port of call - this thread came up top on Google when I searched just now for this issue).
cheers
I have the same problem using Swype in Hangout on my Droid Maxx. I don't have issues with Swype in any other apps.
Swype becomes sluggish and whole words are oddly lost, among other problems.
Hello. It seems like my phone kills swiftkey from time to time. And that makes my phone seem slow when it has to reload it. Any way to keep it in memory? Have to use Samsung keyboard for now... :/

I don't have this kind of problem but I never used emoji prediction. In which language do you use it ? Maybe related to the language?
same here with Swype keyboard @Sgs6
It really seems that it gets kicked off from memory after some time. Is there any way to force it kept in memory?
I don't use emoji prediction either. And I do not have any lags on the keyboard at all!
I'm using UK English, i face randomly shut down swiftkey and other third party keyboard too. I used to owned S6, after upgraded to 5.1.1, problem started to occur... now having same problem with S6 Edge Plus. Sad...
same here (only with swiftkey) on sony z ultra on 412 (cane be bothered updating yet).
emoji etc off. only happened a few updates ago. typing away and keyboard randomly closes. after waiting 30 seconds and repeatedly clicking in text area the keyboard pops back up and works for a while. reboot and same behaviour, same if wipe data etc.
might try wiping data and unlinking from my acc. if not that IMO has to be the app as OS hasn't changed (rooted and no OTA updates).
I ditched Swiftkey because it seems laggy and slow for me. With other keyboards I have no problems.
It's a bug of SwiftKey since 5.4. I have reported it several times with explinations, screencasts etc. They simply refuse to aknowledge they screwed up the app. So I'm using samsung keyboard, which, by the way, uses Swiftkey SDK.
Did you look at the App Optimization system? I have disabled Swiftkey there, to avoid having the system closing it after a certain time, and everything seems to be ok for now.
I noticed it lags a lot on the Edge Plus too which is ridiculous because of how fast the phone is, I have been trying out other keyboards and one that came close to swiftkey for me was Minuum Keyboard it has some really good prediction even for really sloppy fast typing.
I have read on a another topic that this is caused by the Samsung firmware itself. It detects SwiftKey as low priority and kills it whenever possible, even when you are using it (which is kind of ridiculous?)
I've read that if you disable spcm in build.prop (requires root) the issue will be fixed. I hope that Samsung does something with it soon as the same problem has been on touchwiz since the start..
So not only the edge+ that has the issue, I got the International S6 (920F) and I need to live with that issue... Almost considered rooting and voiding my warranty because of this and the terrible ram management.

EDIT: (found a working workaround
Try this; it might help you along the way:

On the S6 go to Settings--> Language and input--> Default keyboard --> Set up input methods --> Turn off Samsung keyboard and Google voice typing. Worked for me.
