According to androidorigin.com these steps will allow u to sim unlock ur phone.
- Insert the new SIM card into the Galaxy S5
- Turn the Galaxy S5 off and then turn it back on
- Open the Dialler application, and type in *#197328640#
- Then select [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3] Perso SHA256 OFF
- After all this, you will need to wait about 30 seconds before pressing the back button
- Now that you’re back at the main menu you should see a Network Lock message
- Now select [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ
That’s it! Your Samsung Galaxy S5 is now unlocked and should work on the network for the SIM card you just put in. It’s said that this special code and sequence has been used by Samsung engineers for a while and for lots of different Samsung devices, which also include the*Galaxy Note 3. So, even if you own a Samsung smartphone, other than the Galaxy S5, this might still work for you.

What does that mean? So we can use Verizon S5 with an AT&T SIM?
Is this confirmed work?
This is a S3 unlock method that will not work on the S5. There are many existing threads on the subject and no one is finding it to work for the S5.
Any luck with this?

Short of using a sim card from a different carrier, how can I tell if my phone is unlocked or not? My seller said it was unlocked.
sorry i dont quite understand. so have you tried using at&t sim card?
either way its really simple to unlock.
-open the market and search for "sgs unlock" (it will be called "samsung galaxy s unlock" and under it it will say "DaGentooBoy"
-after you install it, it should open up automatically(if not click on applications and look for it) and look for the unlock code(should be random numbers)
-turn off your phone, insert sim card, power up your phone and it will ask for the unlock code.
heres where i got the info

Sorry bud. The easiest way is to put another carriers sim in to find out if it's unlocked. Even if it's not, I unlocked mine in literally less then 5 minutes.
Open the dialer and key in *#7465625#. For an UNLOCKED Vibrant you should get the following result: Network Lock [OFF], Network Subset Lock [OFF], SP Lock [OFF] CP Lock [OFF], press OK to exit that menu
put an AT&T sim card, and if it works, then its unlocked

Thanks. It's amazing how so many people can literally ignore the first few words in my post. Although I expected as much.
I entered that in and all said off except the network lock. It was still on.

Then your phone is locked to T-Mobile. The others are always off. It's the network lock that people are talking about when they say unlock a phone.
My favorite thing is the typo in the menu title.

I unlocked my 2 day old phone last night with the windows unlocker tool. I had a SIM that I got in India and it worked for unlocking purpose. When I put the T-mobile SIM back just had to re-login facebook, google etc. I think those information are stored on SIM and not the phone.
Does anyone know future firmware OTA updates like Froyo or anything else that T-mobile will push to our phone will lock it to network again?
Anyone

Lost my unlock status
Just a quick side note. I got my phone unlocked from T-Mobile. And it worked like a charm. Last week as I was changing SIMs, suddenly I found it was locked. Rooted Stock ROM. I don't know how or why it happened and it's only happened once. But it would be a good idea to keep your unlock code on a piece of paper somewhere so you could access it if you were away from home or a computer. The whole point of unlocking a phone is so that you can use it on another carrier. I travel around the world and drop local SIMs all the time into my cell phone. This happened at home so no problem. But if this happened at an airport, I'd have been in trouble. Lesson learnt. Thought I should point it out in case someone else runs into this.
I am a longtime tmobile subscriber. I got the unlock code immediately. I finally got to an att store and unlocked my vibrant. I just entered that code and it is showing network lock ON. WTF? I had to login to everything after I unlocked it too.

Hello,
Me and my girlfriend are both going to India in December 2013. We are getting married -- YAY!!!
Anyways, we both live in Canada and she has Note 3 (Snapdragon LTE model) N900W8 with Rogers Wireless and I have the similar model with Bell Mobility.
I was just wondering if there is a way to SIM unlock these devices so we can use it in India.
My phone is rooted with TWRP installed but as I read through the forums that I cannot use the RegionLock chainfire method.
What do I need to do to get these 2 devices unlocked? I don't want to pay a high unlocking fee. (I found quotes from cellunlocker dot net and it costs $14.99 for Rogers model and $32.99 for Bell Model)
Please help!.
Thanks in advance.!

Hi man, I am in the same spot more or less, How can I sim unlock my Samsung Note 3 N900W8 with out a sim code? Is there a way by rooting? Or maybe there is another kernel out that I can flash etc?
Also Cellunlocker.net has not refunded me my money for a sim code for this phone. I have messaged them and they keep sending me replies saying "pending". So I would not recommend using that site for the N900W8. Cheers
I have used cellunlocker.net for my Note 3 and received my unlock code within an hour. Had no issue unlocking and done many phones using their services.
You simply need to use the generic "ALL CANADIAN VERSION" option instead of your specific carrier and it goes much faster.
What I would be concerned about the compatibility of the GSM Band in India...
You know... like trying to use a canadian Note 3 with Verizon... ? Not compatible.
---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:57 PM ----------
Also... the region unlock is not for the sim but a specific lock on the phone initial activation that can prevent the cellphone from being used in a different region of the world. The lock remove itself after first setup.
Canadian SM-N900W8 do not come with region lock anyway. So not an issue anyway.
All you need is an unlock code for the phone Sim lock.
Eagerly waiting to unlock my device.
I wouldn't mind unlocking by SIM Unlock code, but the prices are way too much..
Plus you said cellunlocker.net doesn't work on canadian models, so I'm skeptical to even try it out.
cellunlocker is my last resort anyway!!

I know older models of S4, S3, Note 1 and Note 2 can be unlocked via the phone menu on the device itself!!! Doesn't work with note 3...
Hence my only option is to order unlock code, but i will still wait as I have a few weeks before i leave

I was able to unlock a stock T-Mobile N900T by first using URDLV to root as outlined here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/universal-root-de-la-vega-script/ Rooting did not trip Knox, still says "Samsung Official"
Then I used Chainfires Region Lock Away app, instructions as found here: http://androidfannetwork.com/2013/10/06/sim-unlock-t-mobile-note-3-for-free/ but since I didn't have a T-Mobile Sim, I skipped the first two steps, leaving me with this:
3. Install RegionLock Away app
4. Run the app, and instead of rebooting say Reboot Later (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT)
5. Power off the Note 3
6. Insert SIM of choice
7. Turned on the device – BOOM! no Region Lock, and NO SIM Lock.
I don't know for sure, but think this *may* work for those with N900W8 if the T-Mobile roms work with the same device. Follow above steps at your own risk, but please post results.

Heyy Just a quick question
I hear a lot about this Region Lock.
I never had the sticker warning on my box in Canada. but i see it on the boxes in U.S.A. and Europe.
Do you actually see on your phone screen itself saying "YOUR PHONE IS REGION LOCKED" ?
or something like that?
I am super curious. cuz on my note 3 which did not come with region lock stickers asked me for the SIM network unlock PIN (network unlocking message)
Noone so far has been able to show me anything close to region locking in real life yet. Many just show the SIM network unlock PIN message which isn't region locks
I am super duper curious
Thanks!!!

HI, there was nothing on the phone screen saying it's region locked. Just wouldn't accept the SIM from another carrier, I think the error message was "INVALID SIM" before.
This is something that a lot of people are coming to us to ask at the moment and I haven't seen or heard of anything that suggests once an unlock code is entered on the "SIM Network unlock PIN" screen, which 1sagain mentioned, that the region lock hinders the user taking the phone internationally.
We've provided thousands of unlocks since the region locks became active and I haven't heard back from one person informing us that the region lock is still stopping them using their phone abroad. Although it isn't direct evidence that the region locks are removed by codes, it is a large enough sample for us to feel the lack of evidence can be used as evidence in itself.
Essentially, from what I know, remove the SIM Network unlock PIN request = removes the region lock.

Hmm
I see,
Invalid SIM, however, implies many things as it has many factors.
Invalid sim can be due to incompatible network with your phone/old sim card that wont work on the note 3 but on other phones/plan on the sim is not compatible with your device/or Other damages or bugs
Best work arounds I see:
1. Replace the sim.
2. Try waiting at least 5 - 10 minutes with this sim inserted (knowing this is a fully activated sim card)
3. Make sure your phone is fully compatible with the Network (Make sure the Network doesn't use CDMA)
4. Make sure your phone is NOT asking for the SIM network unlock PIN (This means your phone is still SIM Locked (not region locked))
5. Restart the phone with the Fully activated new SIm inserted.
6. Call the new carrier you are using your unlocked phone with.
Many more things etc etc to try. etc etc

Hi
I am from India so sharing my experience.
Can u be more specific of phone model? Pl post exact model no & FW.
I have SM-N800 (FW N900XXUBMI2) bought in USA, used with US SIM in US & working in India wout any region/sim lock issues.
1. LTE Bands in India are differnt than in USA & Canada. So you Cant use LTE in India
2. 3G & GSM will work in India as they are global bands
3. If you are already using the Note3 in Canada, are they carrier locked? Have u tried by swapping SIM between 2 of you and still the Note3 works? If Yes, then your phone is already Region & SIM unlocked and you don't need any unlock code to use phone outside Canada.
4. You can also contact Canada Samsung Service center to confirm if your phone is region/sim unlocked. They can tell. Also carry your US Bills for phone to India in case you have to visit Samsung India for help for any other issue.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!

Anyone try this method for the N900W8?
1.Remove the SIM from the Galaxy Note 3. Replace it with a SIM from another carrier.
2.Turn off the device then switch it back on.
3.Access the dial pad and type the following: *#197328640#.
4.Go back to the main menu and open UMTS.
5.Open Debug Screen> Phone Control > Network Lock.
6.Open Options and choose Perso SHA256 OFF.
7.Wait for 30 seconds.
8.Return to the main menu and choose back.
9.After completion, wait for the device to read "Network Lock."
10.Choose NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.
If the user followed the procedures precisely, the device should read: "Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound". Owners of Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Note 2 can also use the following procedures to unlock their devices.
[Q] (Unlocked) AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH i337 gives MM#6 error for MetroPCS SIM Card
Hello everyone. I feel that I have a rather unique issue here.
My sister recently bought an AT&T GS4 from eBay to use here under a MetroPCS service. I took it to a local phone shop in order to have it unlocked. I am not a noob when it comes to rooting/unlocking/ROMing/etc. since I've done so and experimented with my Verizon HTC Rezound. Since I've nearly bricked my Rezound three times, I decided that I should leave it to someone more experienced.
I took it in, within 2hrs the guy had the phone unlocked for me. He put in a Simple Mobile SIM card, I called my own phone and it worked. I take it to Metro PCS to have my sisters current line transferred to a SIM card to use the GS4 with. The problem is that whenever the SIM card is put into the phone and turned on, it says Phone not allowed (MM#6). I then proceeded to look up the IMEI to see if its blacklisted. I checked online and it said that it was clean. I also went to a corporate AT&T store to have them check if it is indeed blacklisted and they said that it is clean. While at the store, I decided to look through the phone for anything unusual. After checking the Status of the phone, I find that the IMEI value is 0. I then hit the *#06# menu and get a popup which says IMEI 0/04. I let the Sales Rep know and ask him if that could be an issue and he said that whoever I took it to might have messed up with the root and that there's nothing they can do since I don't have service with them.
I thought that maybe the phone wasn't connecting to the network because it wasn't set on the GSM radio so I used the *#*#4636#*#* menu but yet nothing happens. I added the APN values for T-Mobile (works for MetroPCS) and still no luck. I even tried factory resetting the phone but whenever I add the SIM card, I keep getting the same popup. In the Service Menu (*#0011#>>Back>>Key Input: 1) UMTS Main Menu, I hit [2] Version Info >> [1] SW Version >> [1] Read IMEI >> and it says "IMEI NOT ACTIVE."
I started looking around the net to see if I can restore and/or repair the phone and I've seen YouTube videos of people unlocking the code by using the Service Menu. Currently, I'm looking around the XDA Forums to see if there is anything I can try out. I'd appreciate the help. I do not want to install any ROMs on my sister's phone unless I absolutely have to. If anything, at the moment I'm trying to flash back to stock. Does anybody know anything about this issue? Also, if I am posting in the wrong area, I apologize for the inconvenience.
You need to put the original imei back to your phone, because the guy unlock the phone for you he messed up with your phone 's imei that why after unlock the phone shows zero imei

You're not alone on this one. I bought an AT&T S3 and having the exact same issue as you are. Here's my story...LOL. I met with a gentleman at the local AT&T store. We checked the IMEI, verified it was in good standing. Since he's the original owner, I purchased the phone from him. I use my MetroPCS SIM, and I get the same "MM#6" code you described. I'm very familiar with using AT&T phones on MetroPCS. I have transferred two NOTE 2s and an S4 to Metro accounts with no issues at all. BTW...the IMEI is still in good standing & when I insert a MetroPCS SIM, the IME still shows in the AT&T S3.
My Phone specs: Samsung Galaxy S3
Carrier: AT&T
Version: Android 4.3
What I've tried:
Downgrade to 4.1.1 (Unfortunatley, bootloader can not be downgraded)
There's two things I can think of...The Android version has something to do with it. Or...I've found out that my S3 was used overseas. And since your phone was from Ebay, theres no telling how the phone was used.
My next step is to purchase a clean SIM card from MetroPCS and have transferred to my account. I'll keep you posted on my findings. For now, I'd go to AT&T store and use their SIM and see if your IMEI comes back. Or downgrade the phone if possible and start from the bottom and work your way up.

Heres my update. MetroPCS SIM card is "married" to each IMEI/PHONE. My phone in question (the ATT S3) was not correctly associated with my account. I called MetroPCS customer service (1-888-8METRO8) gave them the ATT S3 IMEI and the SIM number. within 10 minutes, the ATT S3 was up and running. I hope it helps.
Please provide feedback.
I had a similar issue with MM#6
I called MetroPCS - informed them I was receiving MM#6 error and asked them to 'activate' my phone.
Gave them my IMEI and within a few minutes, I was golden!
WORKED
Thank you for your update worked perfect...:d:d:d

you're not alone on this one.

Hi guys.
I have one question. What is happening when you are using #*7337# code on samsung note 4 device?
I used it today, it wrote that my phone was doing something ( unfortunately I didn't remember what it was saying ), but after that my phone lost network. I didn't have network and couldn't use LTE Internet.
But when I went to settings than to mobile network menu, I could press button " search for network" and it found my network and after that my phone got network connection and Internet.
However, I'm still wondering what did I do to my phone? And is it really bad?
My phone is note 4, stock, android 5.0.1
Thank you for help.

and needs the IEMI rebranded.

It's a "Reset WAP settings" commands for newer Samsung phones (yes, potentially useful as part of an unlock procedure). It's generally harmless although not recommended since it may require changing the APN settings back. Using unknown or random "secret codes" is never a wise move!
Thank you for fast respond guys.
I read about that code in Internet. I know that some people were losing their IMEI numbers. And I found info that it " Reset WAP Settings". But unfortunately it doesn't say me nothing.
Luckily, my IMEI didn't reset.
Yeah and you are right that it's not wise to use code if you don't know what does it mean. Lol.
But I used it, because somebody on some forum said that it can unlock your phone.
So you think I haven't done any damage to my phone by using this code?
Thanks again.
