Just installed this ROM. Omni 4.4.4 unofficial. Will provide some feedback soon. We are so spoiled.
Thank you developers!

the ability to set the permission for apps is a great feature!!!!!!!!! But that rom doesn't work for me. crashes too much for many of my apps.
I installed this ROM yesterday and really like it so far, I was going to post a thanks in the thread however I don't have a high enough post count so if the dev see this thanks:good:
I wish 4.4 had tablet UI though, I hate seeing the navbar on the desktop/home screen. If anybody knows how to get tablet UI on kitkat I'd really appreciate it.
This rom is running great on my acer a500. Almost everything works right off the bat. So I can only only point out some small issues and possible work arounds.
Backup your current rom first, always! .This version of the omni rom installed well on my second try. The first try resulted in loss of root. Needed to properly wipe cache and davik cache and format data.
The lack of boot animation, got me the first time. So as the op says, wait and the rom will load. The smart launcher interface is nice.
Netflix and Youtube works right away.
Chrome Browsers don't play videos. "Lightening" browser does. You have to click on the video and then select full screen icon. Press play and it works. Even for PBS videos etc.
There is no video recorder app so anyone with a good suggestion please let me know and I can try that.
Audio recorder works.
Location works.
By the way...Tablet UI is dead, some of us really like the Tablet UI..
If you are having problems with any apps, you may need to have their cache and data cleaned. Sometimes you may have to reinstall the app. If you have apps that you want me to try, let me know and I can do that and provide feedback (please only the free versions that I can download to try .
As they say, once you're with omni you can never go back.
D.
P.S. Will post images later.
I'm having a little bit of lag, which seems to have been improved with lulzactive and setting the cpu to 1200 max as suggested in the build thread... I'd prefer not to overclock if it can he helped though. I had SOD with 4.4.2 as well which seems to have gone away when I flashed 4.4.4... so we'll see.
youtube works fine for me too.
Yeah, that's what I had been reading regarding tablet UI but was hoping someone has found a way to implement it.
I'm successfully using moonshine icons with nova launcher by changing the icon pack in nova launcher, not launching the moonshine icon app which always stops working.
Boot animation works for me, I'm not sure why that is...

Yesterday I installed the ROM and I have been testing it during the day (a really intensive working day) The performance of my A500 has been fantastic since the installation. Even more when I changed the sio to the values recommended by deryckmeister (I was also using nova). All goes smooth!
Thank you very much to all the people involved in these projects...you are doing an incredible job!

bootloader/recovery version?
I am currently running the CyanogenMod port on my A500 but ever since upgrading my phone to KK 4.4.4 I really wanted to try it on my tablet. What bootloader and recovery did you guys have when you installed OmniRom? I have Skrilax_CZ v8 and I was wondering if I should go to v9 before flashing CWM 6.0.4.5 and Omni. Here is what I currently have:
Acer Iconia A500
Kernel: 3.1.10-digetx-thor-4.4micro
Skrilax_CZ Bootloader v8 0.03.14-MUL
ClockworkMod Recovery 5.5.0.x Thor 1.7.3
Thanks in advance. I am backing up now and will report back after flashing.
P.S. - Can I install my own custom boot animation after everything is set up?

Thanks, yesterday I said what the hell and just went for it. I mean, I had everything backed up and have been able to recover this tablet from a (near) bricked state using command line before so I wasn't that worried about it. Anyway, I flashed CWM 6.0.4.5 and then OmniRom Light and everything has been working good since then. I tried using a boot animation changer by JRummy but it didn't take, so I will have to look more into that. Otherwise, I am LOVING this ROM!
The reason I asked about Skrilax_CZ v9 was that it had given be troubles in the past. I tried upgrading to it but had issues with it not booting past the bootloader so I went back to v8. I don't think I need any of the v9 features anyway.

I did find the same thing with v9. v8 is great and works for me very well also.
On another note, if you use the latest Netflix build, do you find that sometimes it just crashes and causes an immediate reboot? Not sure what triggers it as it is random.

So far, so good... No problem found, except AnTuTu v 5.7.1 just died (whenever I try to check the Benchmark)...!!!

After 3 days using this mod, i can say it's amazing for my phone. My battery life increased almost twice. I used my phone as usual - always 3G and wi-fi on, few 5-6 mins phone calls and a lot of browsing in market and browser. Few minutes of Angry Birds Rio (I'm not a fan of games, my girlfriend plays) and almost 45 mins of watching online TV. My battery last more than two and a half days!!! This is something unthinkable until now. The volume steps are 30 and smooth scolling is working well for me too.
Thank you for this mod!!!

Basically, this a patch of :
A more precise volume control (Volume steps mod)
A smoother overall scrolling (Smooth scroll mod)
Fixed a CyanogenMod 7.2 battery drain issue
Volume steps mod
- People who use Android may complain about the big jump of the volume control.
- By using this mod, the volume steps are changed to 30 steps instead of the default 15 so the volume control becomes more precise.
Smooth scroll mod
- Some application developers recommend disable 'scrollingcache' in app's internal config as it can cause problem to the system, but not all applications have disabled scrollingcache.
- You will experience better overall scrolling after flashing this mod.
Battery Drain Issue
- Some people report that CyanogenMod 7.2 has a battery drain issue on SGA, and till now the problem hasn't been resolved yet.
- In my experience, this mod gives ENORMOUS battery saving, even when my SGA is overclocked at 883 MHz. But then, this is only from my own experience. I won't promise you anything.
Installing method:
Download the frameworkmod.zip from the attachment.
Mount /system.
Flash it via ClockWorkMod.
Enjoy.
Just in case of failure, make sure you have a NANDROID backup before flashing. If you have boot problems, use advance restore>restore system to revert it back.
Don't blame me if your SGA won't boot if you're using deodexed roms or stock rom.
CREDITS
Thanks to AndroidON for his great tutorial in making this mod working. Also to everybody who help me as testers and who share ideas with me.
P.S: This mod takes no effect for some people, but it works if added manually though. I think it's a script problem. Try flashing this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436367&page=6 (Thanks kevinlekiller )

Great News for Deodexed ROMs users, I have made the deodexed version of this mod, but yet to be tested due to no deodex roms at my disposal. So, this is a BIG WARNING!! Try, and report. Make sure you make a NANDROID backup first in case of boot failure. Anybody who use deodex roms, and want to contribute something in this modding, please PM me.
NEWThis is the working deodexed frameworkmod based on TheMyth ICS beta 2 framework.jar. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21247921&postcount=104 Try and report.
NEWThere are some people who report InfinityROM works with the deodexed version, the one that you can download below despite the rom itself is a odexed rom. Ask Mr Google why.
Can you explain what you did on the "Battery Drain Issue". Thanks.
Honestly, I totally had no idea why this would fix the battery issue, but to my experience this makes my battery lasts longer than before the modding. So, I just make a premature conclusion that MAYBE the modding itself repairs the issue. I don't know.
The volume control it's great but i'm not sure if fix the battery issue and the scrolling its great
Good work!
Glad it's working for you since this is my first post here.
thx for the mod will test it later!!
I assume it's capable of working with other mods like slaid's, gadgetcheck's and others, cause the files won't be placed in init.d?

Sorry, please read again at the post. This is not a init.d script mod, this is a modified /system/framework/framework.jar and framework.odex files. Of course this mod completely compatible with those scripts, I suppose.
I know this isn't an init.d mod. That's why I mentioned it in my previous post to justify my statement. I asked just to be sure, it's the first question of this kind here so I think it's ok. Thanks for the answer.

I never use stock roms, so, there will be no mods for stock roms from me. Quite a disappointing news to stock roms fans.
I have a Kindle Fire on the way. What's the best ICS ROM to put on it in your opinion? Which ROM is the most stable? GB or ICS? Any input you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Good ROMs
Okay, so there are a whole bunch of roms for GB and ICS.
-Cynogenmod 7 (gingerbread) is the most stable, and is a daily rom.
Runs games, internet, apps great - never crashed
-ICS (based on CM9) is also pretty stable, but still not quite as good yet IMO.
With ICS there are lots of good roms:
- Stock(ish) ICS - not quite as recent though - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411895
-Classicnerd ICS - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527046
-Energy ICS Rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528024
-MIUI ICS - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488930
All of these have small bugs, and no hardware acceleration.
I've probably forgotten a whole bunch, so check out this great thread to keep up with things!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467013
By the time you've got your KF, ICS will be even more stable.
Not long 'till we see a daily use rom!
Thanks to the DEVS!
Hey, thanks a bunch. It's nice to actually see some helpful people. If your a sign of the kind of people in this section, then i'm definitely looking forward to hanging out here. I appreciate your input.

Flashing Energy ICS ROM
Since we are on the subject of ICS ROMS, I hope someone can answer this question. In the Energy ROM thread in the developers section, they mentioned using TWRP to flash that ROM. I used the BurritoRoot3 utility to root my KF and it installs FireFireFire for recovery. I got the impression from the Energy ICS thread that you HAVE to use TWRP to flash the ROM but that doesnt seem right to me.
CAn someon set me straight on this? If it is the case, how hard will it to be to replace FireFireFire with TWRP ?

Im new to the Kindle Fire, but I've been reading and googling. FireFireFire is the custom bootloader that allows onetouch operation to get into recovery. TWRP is the actual recovery.
Will someone confirm this?

You are right. Firefirefire is the bootloader. You can install it when you root it using burito3. TWRP is the recovery. I believe someone actually sucessfully installed Energy rom using CWM too. I am using TWRP and have successfully flash the Energy.
I installed the ICS Energy ROM using CWM. Not a problem.

Hi,
i am interessted to flash your rom on my tablet.
my question is:
will your rom work on the hannspad sn10t1?
do i have to flash a kernel for the hannspad if its work?
you typed that youtube hd video is not working, is this just a problem on youtube or is hw accelerating not working?
Great Job on this Rom!!! It's actually buttery smooth. loaded it up for my wife before I gave her my GTablet.
Thanks to everyone that left feedback.
I hate to add useless posts that just say that I am flashing it, so I'll say I'm flashing it and then ask if there is anything that you want us to look for or to try out for you. Looks solid so far, though I got FCs on the default keyboard. I'm clearing caches and such and trying again.
Edit: that worked. I'm good now. Just wish some apps could utilize the screen size.
So I am trying to flash this rom after removing CM7. However, Its been sitting at the "Android" screen for over 30 minutes. Does this use a different partition than the usual 2048 / 0 ?
I'm sure you can leave the 2gb/0 partition in, but you should reboot into CWM and clear caches and fix permissions first. If that doesn't work, wipe data too. It should boot fine then, probably just after another cache wipe.

All works well for now. Except Zinio - it does not want to log in anymore.

Grabbing logcats and dmesg along with last_klog.
These are helpful in figuring out what is going on
Install the sdk in you PC http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Logcat
"adb shell logcat >logcat.txt"
This will run until unplugged or ctrl c and all the content will go into that file
dmesg
"adb shell cat proc/kmsg >dmesg.txt"
This will run until unplugged or ctrl c and all the content will go into that file
Last_klog
"adb shell cat proc/last_klog >lastklog.txt"
This is for if you have a reboot run this right after the device starts back up and it will get me the last dmesg from before it reboot and will help determine the cause of the reboot.
This will help me and everyone that uses this ROM as i can determine the cause of issues.
Thanks
Thank you for the continued HP Touchpad Development and support Flintman.

Thanks to both of you. For the roms and the video walk thru. I haven't tried art on the touchpad because it actually makes my Galaxy Nexus slower most of the time. And with some gapps it's even worse. Since it isn't listed as broken I am assuming you have tried it. If I may ask. What gapps did you use and what was performance like? It prevented my nexus from booting at times. Just wanna stick with what you have tried until I get use to the new data media and such. Thanks again.

Added another build see OP for what was changed. I also adding in a touch recovery TWRP with data/media and SELINUX support. This will also allow you access to your webOS media folder which is know in the new build as external_sd. I have tested out all the features and everything is working great but please save a full backup from your previous recovery if you decide to use this recovery as it's still in an Alpha state.
Enjoy

Thanks a lot for this amazing ROM and the recovery I had few bug with the reboot ... The recovery freezed and i have to manually reboot to unfreeze it ... A part from that great job Can't wait to see what you are going to bring next
And just one little request ... I love having the clock center on the status bar ... Do you think you can add it to the Evervolv project ? That's would be a great feature

Okay, I am doing something wrong. I have downloaded the recovery multiple times from multiple devices. I have tried installing via TWRP and manually extracting the image to /boot.
Each attempt, I get:
Checking uImage... Invalid Size
BOOT FAILED!
Please SELECT to continue
Any thoughts? I can still load my backup copy of TWRP without issue.
Update:
After purging the other copies of TWRP from /boot, the new version loads without issue. Thanks flintman!
Discovered that the TP 4G not compatible with the test 3.X Kernel yet
Hey Flintman just wanted to point out my findings after going crazy over the past couple weeks trying to figure what I was doing wrong when flashing the test Kit Kat ROMs w/3.X kernel.
Previously my TP 4G was working fine on shumash's SCHIZOID 4.2.2 ROM but I was extremely eager to try out the new 3.X kernels. I first tried out your non-data/media Evervolv 4.0.0p1 version and was unable to connect to WiFi despite repeated clean install methods and variations of cache wipes. I know that I had re-sized partitions with Tailor sufficiently for Kit Kat as warned so I then attempted to try out Invisblek's CM11 ROM. Not only was WiFi still not wanting to toggle on, but the rotation sensor was acting oppositely for landscape orientations and I was getting frequent crashing reboots just going through the UI. I then decided to try out JCSullins' updated CM10.1 ROM with his 3.0 kernel and then encountered the same behavior as Invisblek's CM11 ROM, but with even worse random touch driver issues that resulted in erratic automatic screen touches and ultimately soft-reboots.
Restoring a backup to SCHIZOID's 4.2.2 ROM worked fine to restore all functionality, but I couldn't help but think that I was still doing something wrong.
I got a hold of a normal TP (WiFi only model) and tried your latest 1-10-2014 Evervolv 4.0.0p1 ROM and was amazed to see that it was working great including WiFi (although 5GHz APs don't seem to scan as reliably as the past kernel) aside from the known issues. I tried the exact same install process on my TP 4G again just to see if anything changed, but unfortunately WiFi still wouldn't toggle and the orientation sensor behavior exhibited the same opposite landscape behavior as Invisiblek and JCSullins' ROMs.
I had thought that aside from the 3G HSPA modem in the TP 4G model chipset-wise it would be identical to the WiFi-only model so kernel 3.X developments would be complimentary across all TP devices. Unfortunately this doesn't appear to be the case and I hope with time you guys are able to work out any compatibility with the 4G model to benefit from the already terrific development that's going on with the 3.X kernel now.
I admire your guys' skills and look forward to all the improvements in store!
PS: I'd be more than happy to beta test anything you guys feel would address any compatibility issues on the TP 4G!
If we flash your twrp will it remove cwm or add another entry? I've never been able to have two recoveries working. I would much rather not have to use the power button and what not all the time in cwm but want to make sure I'm covered if something goes wrong. Thanks

Due to the limit of the boot directory it will remove all recoveries before installing this one.

Sorry for the Nube question I've searched and I'm sure it's been answered already....
So I got my touchpad with ClockworkMod Recovery version 6.0.1.9 can I flash the TWRP SE data/media recovery from there? Trying with the acme installer 5ET has failed.
I do have the original 4.4 Evervolv up and running and my partitions have been updated.
Thanks

So I replaced the ulimage in the boot directory and was able to install the 1/10/14 rom. So I guess I needed to search and just try a little more.
anyway -- I think it's a little slower than the first 4.4 version.... Maybe I need to reboot.... thoughts?

Both using same cpu settings? Although with more things implemented it could seem slower.

Do you think you can get me some dmesg and logcats??
I flashed this yesterday, all seems fine so far. There is a known issue with system.ui force close, and is being investigated by dev. It happened to me a couple times after install, and hasn't happened again since. Seems very stable now that the rom has settled. The touch sensitivity in the aroma installer is a little stubborn, so be patient when selecting your options. Oh yeah, I have never seen so many options crammed in a rom in my life! Very entertaining. I love it! And as with all P-900 roms on our T-900, no rotation. (No big deal) here is the link to the op.

Oh, you just install it like your tab pro 12.2 T-900 was a note pro p-900, and thats it! You will lose screen rotation, but I never miss it. Just disable auto rotation after installation. There are play store apps that control rotation manually, on a per-app basis that work perfectly.
I choose the stock kernel, in the aroma installer, but if you like to over clock your devices I suggest bonuzzz kernel. I've used it and it is very stable with more governor options, and OC to 2.1Ghz(i think) I have never OC'ed this device tho. This rom has the best balance of performance and battery life, and has endless customization options. I really don't know why it hasn't caught on with T-900 users. I love it.

No... I did try flashing the boot.img from our latest stock release, (with flashify) but still no rotation. It seems to get better battery life with our stock kernel, but it may be in my head. (Placebo effect) I disable anything to do with s-pen in settings, just in case, but I'm not sure its necessary. It really does run beautifully. Great battery life, and no lag like on stock rom.

Yip! I know it sounds crazy! This is the first device I've ever heard of this working on. The only things that do not work are rotation, and vibrate. I flashed the Tab pro 12.2 kernel, trying to see if it would fix rotation, but it didn't. Vibrate works with our kernel tho.

no, well, I think there is a way to do it with odin, but, the easiest way is to install flashify to your device, open it and confirm root access when super user asks for it, then you can use flashify to install the boot.img right from your device. .... Now I can not provide support if the device explodes or any of those other things that could happen, but I personally have not had any problems with flashify. After it gets done it asks if you want to reboot, and just say yes and then you should be on our stock kernel. It worked for me 2 times, because I wanted to try the new CM12 that had theme support, Then themes didn't work on CM12 anyway, so I came back to hyperdrive, and flashed the stock kernel again. Oh and it reboots faster with the stock kernel too.
that screen rotation. .
Being broken is a deal breaker for me personally. Such a shame because that ROM looks fabulous
