I'm curious, now that the developer preview ROM is out for the Nexus 5:
Will it be possible to adapt the Nexus 5 image to work on the Moto G?
Does someone already have a plan to do it?
There is no point in using Android L until it's release, it is just a developer preview, to allow devs to make the apps compatible faster.
If you are desperate to try it, you could always use the Android sdk tools and try it in adt.

A port would be awesome though! Just tried Android L on the nexus 7 and it's really nice! Feels much better

I know it's only a preview, but it would be nice to try it, and maybe it works better that one would think.
I guess my main question is if we have to wait until Google releases the source code, or if there's any possibility for ROM-devs to do something with the Nexus 5 ROM for other devices.
Why would devs waste time on such a useless endeavour? Your question really puzzles me…
Google isn't releasing the source for 'L' until the public release so the ROM from a Nexus 5 is likely to be of much help. Plus, the developer preview is pretty unfinished and buggy so I don't know the point.
There already is a thread about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/discussion-google-announces-android-l-t2794615

Hello there everyone,
Does anyone know about a mod or rom that allows nexus 4 users to have multiple windows on the same screen like you can do with the Galaxy note 2 and galaxy S3. I felt like this was a really cool feature in the Galaxy S3. I remember Cyanogenmod trying to add it with cornerstone. However they literally got google mad with it. However now that Samsung is doing these things they don't seem to complain anymore, so I guess that it wouldn't be a problem if someone did it nowadays.
I've been googling and looking at XDA for a few hours now but I can't seem to find any.
Do you guys know of any ROMS / MODS that can do this sort of thing?
Also is there a Galaxy S3 port for the Nexus 4 (So that you can run gs3 rom on nexus 4?)
Thanks
Multiwindow feature is only available for 5-6 apps that come with phone and not to all apps.
To add this feature touchwiz framework needs to be ported and apps need to be modified to support it. Touchwiz is closed source which makes the job difficult.

However it seems Cyanogenmod was indeed succesfull in doing this a pretty long time ago with cornerstone.
I wasn't aware Touchwiz was closed source, so that's a pretty dead end there.
Maybe Cornerstone could be ripped from an old version of Cyanogenmod that still supported it?
Here is a video of cornerstone running last year. It worked for all apps I think

Actually it is incredibly easy to hack the Samsung framework to allow it to work on all apps.
But you are right, we would need to port that framework to the nexus, which is never going to happen.
Google rejected chances to incorporate multi-window into stock android, don't expect to see the feature any time soon.

However it could be ported from an old version of Cyanogenmod no? (One that has cornerstone)
Hi,
With a little search:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2021174&highlight=multiview
I do not believe that there was ever a version of CM released that had cornerstone, just private test builds.

I think there are various apps on the market that allow multi windows too.

Hi everyone, just a query. I've seen a past attempt at an Optimus G Rom port that booted and had some radio issues. My question is simply, could a full Rom port be possible?
While the Optimus G UI is not as good looking as AOSP, it does have some nice looking features particularly for the camera (since the AT&T Optimus G and Nexus 4 share the most similar hardware, camera should be able to work). I think this would be a great mod to have, features like Q-slide multitasking would be fun to try.
So what so the devs say? Could this happen?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
It could be. One problem is the Optimus G barely recieved a 4.1 jellybean update whereas we are on 4.2.2. By the time the Optimus G recieves 4.2.2, at the rate it took them to release 4.1, we will probably be on 5.0 KLP and as you should know 4.2 kernels won't simply boot a 4.1 ROM.
It will be hard to fully port and may not be worth the effort in the end
Hi,
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175663
To give you an answer from my best judgement is yes certainly can. And as a matter of fact I was , when I get set up and the time, going to try my hand at some "Ports" as I know it will require much more work than I'm used to on S3 to another carrier S3 by long shot but knowing for a first port for me on nexus ever I figured why not try LGS G? I do understand where the other post is coming from but that will be where I would most probably stick with the 4.2.1 anyway. I'll see. Pm me if you want to collaborate and I'll try and get some time this week. Been up all night piloting these threads as I can't sleep from a hernia lol...but I'll check tomorrow or this afternoon...peace. BTW I have brand new computer but its not much of upgrade as I couldn't afford to replace the one I had and I didn't want to pay much but its stupid windows 8 and I want to go in first and disable all the crap and then DL SDK adb and kitchen utilities etc I had on old broken laptop...edit..now I see where the guy is talking about the g. Damn yes its only on 4.1 and not 4.2.1?? OK. I'll look...

Thanks everyone, seems like we need the Optimus G to get 4.2.2 for it to be easy enough to get working, till then it could work but it seems like a lot of effort for the devs. When the time comes though I pray someone gets it working, we all love to experiment, and to be honest I think the LG camera app with more features will be better..

The source code has been available on github, from the following link , this has been available for some time, but I lack the knowledge, and time to build the ROM, and kernel.
The kernel is a modified CM11 kernel, and the kickstarter file from the repository should setup the rom with all the repo dependencies (including the actual sailfish os part) that it relies on to work, providing I correctly understand what a kickstarter file does.

Is it possible to port it to galaxy s4 i9500?
If yes, can some port it? or can someone teach me how to port? or is there any tutorial for porting it?
This looks Promising ...
I want that ^^ can't weit till we can get a shot at it
yeah, I hope we will get some news soon, I'd fancy a nexus 5 sailfish-rom most of course
Anyhow, it seems the nexus 5 wasn't that of a good choice imo. Sure, it has good specs for that low price, but owning a Nexus S before I thought the N5 is a good choice also towards support for new roms (like the Nexus S was: you always got new / experimental roms for it first). Now the N5 seems to have bad hardware in the way that it is hard to implement in new roms (e.g. find suitable driver) which is a shame. Well, I'm not sure if I'd buy another Nexus phone again, thankfully there are many alternatives now (the fairphone, jolla phones etc).
Umm.. Guys? The rom has been out for over a month already.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53018643&postcount=60
So, everybody must have heard about this right now, so lets cut to the chase.
Do you guys think we can have a working build for Moto X? Just so we get a little taste of what's to come.
I wouldn't use it as a daily driver, I only want to check it out and see how it would look on ours.
Cyanogen Team already stated they will not be making Android L builds since it is still a preview and it does not deserve their full attention.
So I guess the only way to get a build for this is if somebody build it from AOSP directly which will be pretty hard considering the lack of Dev support for Moto X.
I can only hope though. I am sure our great few devs will work something out.
What do you guys think? :silly:
EDIT
It seems these sources are only for a few parts of Android L and are not useful for building a full ROM.
So I guess we will still have to wait a few more months, hahahaha.
Hi alltogether.
Im not a developer or something, but i am wondering whether it is possible to port/ flash the Nougat Developer Preview 5 to a Moto X Pure?
If yes, why didnt somebody try to build a rom for us already?
If no, what are the restrictions?
It's not fully release yet, why would a developer put all their efforts on a preview when the full release is not even 2 months away
well, i know, but i always thought during the time period from the first developer preview why no one tried to port ist, or didnt even mention it. Its because i cannot imagine how much effort it takes to do this I mean if it wasnt much, why shouldnt it be made, just to give some Pure owners the possibility to try Nougat as well?
It's not really feasible. Until Google releases the actual source code for Nougat, preview or otherwise, trying to decompile and rebuild compiled Roms for completely different devices is not something likely to happen for any phone.
