I installed the apk and it seems to have (at least partially) fixed the battery drain with location.
I confirm that the battery drain related to "google play service" is fixed with "Google Play Services 5"
How did you do?
I also had installed the new apk, but then it's only fixed a little bit. I still have battery drain
Thanks

It does not fix the issue for the majority of the people, certainly not for me.
I am really pissed of with all of these.
Installed it, fixed the issue for me as it seems. Also updated Google Search with the latest APK.
Still got the other bugs but so far my Xperia Z has no Drain with everything switched back on, but I'm giving it longer to be sure.

It doesn't work for me.
But if I turn off all the position (GPS) in Setting, then it seem helped with battery drain.
I don't know why?!?!
Fix has solved all problems
The fix has seriously solved all problems regarding battery drain, and the usage of Xperia Z2 apps (Eg: Live on Youtube).
This makes the Xperia Z compatible for usage of the Kit Kat Operating system:angel:

After using these for a day, it seems the battery usage has been improved a lot but still not comparable to previous 4.3 ROM. Will see how it goes in the following week.
I'm getting Google play services battery drain. The funny part is, I wasn't suffering much in previous Google play services version. Now on 5 I'm getting the drain plus heating cellphone while sitting on my desk. What gives.

I flashed Cyanogenmod 11 (latest nightly) last night and installed the Google Services 5.0 apk and got the same problem as you, it really drained the battery fast, so I uninstalled the update and its back to normal now (version 4.4.52) - Try installing that version it might help you

This is a serious problem for me, and ive seen many others report it
it started with the HK 2.3.4, and i thought the ATandT build would fix it but it hasnt
The battery readings all over the place, it will say 40% left, but if i restart it itll go back to 59% and etc..
I have done a battery callibration, wiped battery stats, all that good stuff, it has not helped.
I flashed 1.8.3 SBF and then went to the ATandT gingerbread (gingerblur), so everying was wiped, but i still have this problem
Does anyone know how i can communicate this issue to that motorola forum guy Matt,
its very annoying and is making our batteries look very mediocre

Considering these builds are likely not at all final, it's probably something they either have fixed on another build, are working on fixing before the beta, or will fix during the beta.
Basically, I think we'll have to wait for the official release unless Kenn can patch a fix into his own rom.
this seems to be a problem after installing the 1% mod. every time i install it it happens no matter how many times i wipe... once i reflahed with beta 4.5 everything works perfect
I had the 1% mod , wish i never did
but flashed 1.8.3 and flashed to beta gingerblur again, i don thave the mod right now
but still seeing this

Motorola isn't going to give 2 hoots about your problems since you flashed a leaked firmware, which wasn't for your specific model anyway!

I had a widget that displayed 1% increment battery levels and that showed the same deal as before. It's not a problem with the mod. All they do is read the system files reporting battery level anyway.
And really Caelan...can't you just ignore the topic if you're just going to post spam?

If you read more carefully, you'll notice it actually is for our specific model
Gingerblur is based on the ATandT 4.5.91
to clear ur confusion, i did have hk and 1% mod in the past. But i then flashed 1.8.3 SBF (which is for at and t atrix)
So right there, all the past is history, im stock.
THEN went to 4.5.91, and still have problems, as do others
It's got to be a bug in the Moto ROM. I'm sure it will be fixed either by our devs or their's
My front facing camera will not work
Sorry to the OP if this is off topic, but didn't want to start a new thread.

I had the same problem and it was only fixed temporary by restarts. Since i turned off the advanced wi-fi option "keep wi-fi on during sleep", everything works like a charm. It seems there is a problem with the (deep) sleep states. I am on the newest firmware (rooted, knox 0x0) btw and Android OS went from 60% to 10% battery usage!
So in case the problem returns, try it... You might have a little bit more mobile traffic depending on your apps and configuration, but hopefully this will get sorted out with a new firmware.
I've had the same problem for some time.
curiously enough, I found that turning location services ON fixed the problem.

Thanks for all the replies. Wakelock Detector blames the "Android OS".
I've turned off location services, advanced Wifi on when charging, done a factory reset, wiped the cache, disabled Google backup service. The "Android OS" is still by far the largest battery hog.

Here is what i am trying now... Maybe you do the same.
Charge battery up to 90%
Remove the battery and keep it aside for a while, say 10 mins
Plug it back in and charge to 100%.
I discovered mine was due to a custom kitkat launcher from the play store. Soon as I ditched it, the OS drain vanished.

KitKat Launcher+ by Bjorn Vermeule
JellyBean is by far the most horrible thing I have had in mobile history. A firmware that just relentslessly drains battery by default.... even if you close everything... You can restart and it will work for very short time. but no matter what it will go back to staying awake all the time. I even removed things like facebook, im stock for the second time and all it takes is a charge over night unplug and then its **** again, restart many times during day untill it settles, it then works again at evening, you put it in charger and next day its **** again....
It simply dosent matter what you do, it's broken. Contacted samsung aswel and only solution I got was "We hope kitkat will fix it" as they were aware of the problem.

Hey guys. I know XDA is filled with battery threads, and I've done numerous searches around the forums and across the internet. Nothing seems to be helping me.
Recently, the battery life on my Nexus 4 hasn't been so great. I've attached a few screenshots of GSAM. Any ideas on what is causing the significant drain? I'm down 15% in 1 hour and have barely touched my phone. Using stock 4.4.2, rooted with some Xposed modules (none of which seem to correlate to being installed near the time of the battery life becoming crap).
Here is a dump from GSAM as well: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z6uo3q5059mcwhu/02-26-14.txt
Edit 2: After just over 4 hours, I'm down to 50% with a ton of wakelocks. This is the part that I can't find any helpful info about. Here's the new log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tv01k9tbmo38gbv/02-26-14 2.txt

You know, I haven't ever on this device. I had on my Samsung Captivate and Nexus S, but have yet to use any sort of battery calibration on my Nexus 4. And now that you mention it, I've had some strange behavior with going from 35% to 25% rapidly, rebooting, and then having it at 30%.
Do you think it's worth a shot? If so, any good apps for this? When I did it on old devices, I just used the CWM option to delete battery stats and then charged/discharged fully. Seems that TWRP (which I have installed) doesn't have this option.

what the app does it deletess batterystats.bin
but google already stated that its just placebo, this file is only for the batteryicon
thats why cwm removed it.
second those wakelocks are just seconds. so its normal
third. do you have any sync service?(skype, facebook, email, or even google) if so
try disabling temporaly
if dosent work you may wanna try the xposed + xposed module called disable critical shutdown
then wait till phone turns off and charge for minimum 8hours
if not
change rom/kernel
if still not
its your battery(if so, and you still have warranty, you can get an rma if you live in a google area or get money back if you live in a area where lg controls,or buy another battery

Hadn't read about it being a placebo, thanks for the info. I downloaded BBS and think the issue is actually the (common) msm_hsic_host issue. It had several hours today. I'm flashing Matr1x kernel right now, so we'll see if that takes care of the issue.

Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
There is slight drain, but it's nothing really noticeable.. at least not on the latest version of good lock. I had about 2hr 35min SoT at 54% today with good lock running the entire time.. To put it into perspective, I had about 3 hours of SoT with the normal system UI with 49% left.
Either way, the battery trade off is well worth having a vanilla android UI but with all of Samsung's lovely customisations.

The latest version of Good Lock does not constantly prompt location, which is why I installed it and ran it for a bit. The first version did, and that's why I uninstalled it. But since I've decided to root and use Xposed modules, I'm back at the normal system UI.
What issue caused you to uninstall it? I'm rather curious.
any possible way to show icon labels for wifi bluetooth, location ect... in the pull down menue
Seems to consistently take about 4% off my battery. Haven't decided if that's enough to really care. Really like the lock screen.
It took over 15% of my battery (no location enabled, just "everywhere"). It was next under the screen in battery stats. Needless to say I uninstalled it because of that only. Otherwise I kind of liked it except for the multitasking.

I've seen a little bit of battery drain but I get an entire day out of my phone so I'm not worried about it. Never as much as you say though. Maybe uninstall and reinstall it. I love the new UI. Also HUGE update came out today
I think that the battery usage is dependent on the number of routines that you run. I personally just set up the default routine to my liking and don't have any others set up and Goodlock typically stays under 5% usage.

find my mobile is samsungs integrated system. it is not the same (but has the same functionality).
You'd only get find my device through the Play Store.
