did i brick my phone - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok so i have no idea what to do and could really use some help. I was rooted on nc4 and i ODIN the nc2 kernel in order to flash the hyperdrive ROM. I tried the rom for a little bit and decided to go back to stock. I went into the recovery and restored my backup. Well that did not wanna boot and im guessing is because of the NC2 Kernel. So the next thing I did was went into odin and found this file online N900VVRUCNC4_N900VVZWCNC4_N900VVRUCNC4_HOME.tar.md5. Well now my phone boots up but it keeps saying the process com.android.phone has stopped. So now im not rooted and have no recovery. IS there anything else that i can do?

[Q] Galaxy s4 Soft Bricked? [Fixed]

I was trying to flash the KitKat NC5 to my galaxy s4 and i messed up. Heres the short version of why i goofed. I did everything right until i came to flash the ROM, i accidentally wiped my custom ROM and installed kitkat to that and went to odin and it all succeed and began to boot. thats when i noticed i was on safeside and i was like oh sh*t i flashed it to the wrong spot. So i went in and deleted my custom rom (which had kit kat on it) and began to wipe my stock rom. Thats when i get the error
"E: unable to mount '/system'"
and
"E: Unable to mount '/systemorig'"
I was going to boot into download mode but when i went to, it said "No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?"
And thats the moment i sh*t my organs out. I need a fix. I have no OS right now.
I need to know where to start. I havent left safestrap and dont plan on it until someone tells me what to do. WHAT DO I DO!?!??!
:crying:

Unbrick/get into safestrap after OC3 upgrade

OK, so I recently upgraded to a lollipop ROM on my locked bootloader ATT I337. To get into safestrap now, I have to use NC1 flasher to temporarily flash the NC1 kernel, and then boot into SS, then flash the OC3 kernel to get back. PITA, but it worked. So I tried restoring a backup, and when I rebooted it didn't work (black screen, kept getting FC's of every app, couldn't actually do anything). I rebooted 3 times, after which it seems to be working. Weird. However, if this happens again, how do I get back to safestrap so that I can wipe and reinstall the lollipop ROM? Can I just flash the NC1 kernel via Heimdall/ODIN? If so, which file is it? When I was looking, it seemed like I needed to start from scratch with a full KK flashable package, then upgrade, downgrade, etc, etc.

Yep, you can flash NC1 kernel in AP slot in ODIN. I'm not sure about Heimdall as I haven't used it.

Thanks, hopefully won't have to try it
Just as a bit of an update. I did another safestrap restore, and again ended up booting into the same situation, with black screen, mult FC, etc. Figured out that to exit this, boot into the system bootloader, and from there choose "reboot". For whatever reason, it then boots normally.

safestrap....unable to mount /system...potential brick??

have rooted s5 on 4.4.4 nk2. Have been trying to install custom roms via safestrap. Apparently i am missing a step. I wipe data, try to install twi5ted Lollipop on custom rom slot....blank screen for over 30 min after reboot, phone gets real hot, take battery out. Try to install on stock rom slot, reboot then get stuck in boot loop and keeps booting into system recovery. I then saw through my hours of searching to format instead of wipe....so i format then try to install, get stuck again, take battery out, get back to safestrap dash now when i try to wipe/format/or even restore my backup it says unable to mount system. When i click reboot system it says no OS installed. After reboot, my custom slot gets erased.
I was about to try an odin flash back to stock but some how was able to get my phone back to a system restore. Why can i not get anything installed? Do i have to have odin to do a custom rom install?????? i know every rom is different but wtf. I have seen multiple videos and threads of people flashing zip via safestrap and rebooting into new rom without flashing kernals via odin or safestrap after rom install.
Also...my phone will not let me download zip files (ex. cm12.1) says unable to create download folder....how close to F'in my phone up am i? I have successfully rooted all phones in the past...s5 is giving me hell!
I just tried installing rom after format, then flash nk2 kernel from odin, still gives boot loop....ive tried everything i have found..never this much problem with custom rom..
When you try to install twisted it needs lollipop firmware which is flashed on odin, and based on your statement it says you're on NK2, a kitkat firmware. Try flashing a stock ncg tar and rerouting, downloading apps, etc. on the phone to see if that works. Also, I noticed you mentioned a cm 12.1 zip not downloading which, while unrelated to your current problem, will cause a bootloop when flashed due to the locked bootloader on the S5, so it isn't a smart idea to even attempt an install.

thanks, i will try fresh from start ncg. so you have to be on the current kernel that you are flashing a rom for, whether its CM, Twi5ted, Alliance...etc i need to be on rooted 5.0 kernel then flash rom via safestrap?
i was having problems downloading from internet on phone, not downloading rom if thats what you thought i meant. I just tried installing zip for CM 12 via safestrap and got same issue. Phone reboots, goes to black screen and eventually heats up like crazy. .... I just noticed, after my restore ...again... it says safestrap disabled in red on the boot screen, why is that? it says installed and tried reinstalling.
FIXED
So i flashed ncg from odin on the messed up phone and got messed up worse. Ended up getting stuck on first boot image of samsung android s5 boot screen. Finally found original stock firmare file and used odin to complete install stock os and got rid of root. Now back to normal... luckily i figured it out my self! thanks to the 100's who viewed and didnt help and thanks to mrjiggywiggy for giving me some input to help out!

OD5/OK3 was stable, now bootlooping, want to downgrade to 4.4.4 anyway. Sanity check?

[Edit: Nevermind, I'm dumb, I forgot that I can just ODIN the NI2 kernel to get back to Safestrap. Please ignore or mock as needed!]
Quick question, I just want to confirm that my thought process is correct:
I have been running the Alliance Lollipop rom for awhile now, but lately my phone has been acting crappy. For awhile now, it would boot and then say that the SystemUI is unresponsive, and i was just getting lots of random reboots. Anyway, today I had to battery pull, and now it's bootlooping. I get past the Verizon screen, and then the boot animation just spins forever. I'm actually OK with this, because I've been wanting to go back to Kit Kat anyway.
Currently:
I have the FlashFire apk installed, but can't get it to boot completely.
I had originally installed the ROM from a KK kernel -> Safestrap -> OK3 ROM / OD5 Kernel
I can get into stock recovery. I tried wiping my cache and rebooting from there, no dice. I'm on an OD5 bootloader, with an OK3 build.
I see that there's a new fancy Lollipop friendly Safestrap from jrkruse (http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/safestrap-5-0-lollipop-t3313800), but I'm not sure it helps me at this current time.
This is what I think the next steps are:
ODIN - NI2 Stock Kernel, and then NI2 stock Firmware?
Install Safestrap apk?
Reboot to Safestrap recovery and install 4.4.4 ROM?
Am I missing a step? It's been awhile, and all of my old instructions that I had saved are outdated, and I'm trying to get up to date and dust off my memory, and hopefully not spend the rest of my work day flashing things (or people?) Thanks!

Deleted operating system and safestrap. VZW_QA1_STOCK_ROOTED_DEODEXED.zip

I figured it out. I'm currently back to running VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9.
Not sure what I did. I successfully unlocked the bootloader. At that point it was running VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9. Then I went and flashed VZW_QA1_STOCK_ROOTED_DEODEXED.zip. It flashed fine. During boot up it just hung at the red verizon screen. So after 2 attmepts I tried going back to VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9. I flashed it, and then in odin I flashed G900V_Firmware_PB1.tar. It now wont go past the first samsung screen and It seems to have lost safestrap. When going into recovery it gives me the stock recovery. What file can I flash in Odin to get me back up and running? Thanks
