Saferoot is the best and works on all variants but will not work on Kitkat... though there is two versions, one with KNOX disable and the other without. I assume peeps have tested the one with KNOX disable feature with KitKat before telling me it was a no go. Not going to 4.4.x on my tablets, so I am unable to verify with my equipment unless I am selling to upgrade.

[Q] SM-G900R7 5.0 Root?

Ok I want to get my phone upgraded to 5.0 (if for no other reason than to get rid of the annoying OTA nag).. I have Towelroot and have Knox 0x0. It's still under warranty so I don't want to trip Knox, and I use a few things that do require root, so giving it up is not an option.
The current software is ANK1, and Kies claims the version to be installed is BOC2. Here's the dilemma.. This is on a little mom and pop carrier, which uses a variant called SM-G900R7... Apparently this one is so rare that SamMobile doesn't even know it exists. They only have the R4 and R6 flavors - neither of which are on BOC2 (R4 is on BOC1 and R6 is on BOB3)...
So I'm really confused.. I know people have said there are ways to do it, but they were talking about different variants.. Is it going to be possible with this bastard version or do I just have to suck it up until my warranty expires in like 8 months?

Also, Google root sm-g900r7.
What part of "I don't want to trip Knox" was unclear in the OP? Those threads are totally useless. The first one refers to "iRoot", which I can barely find any information on (very odd for a program that claims to have 80 million rooted phones to its record), but what I can find says it trips Knox, and the second one is about installing different ROMs - which I don't want to do. All I want is stock root so I can kill bloatware and use WiFi Tether Router. I DID google rooting this model, and I did find the sticky at the top of the cspire forum, but the root method they have for BOC2 is the CF Auto Root for the 900P - which trips Knox.

Wind your neck in kiddo, the guy was just trying to help you
If there is a method to do what you're looking to do, the info is freely available on XDA, go read some threads
Telling me exactly what I've already said I don't want to do - because he admittedly didnt read my request - is not helpful. I know there's a method, and it is documented on other variants, but not this one - hence the very existence of this thread. I've done my homework and come up with nothing, so don't talk down at me like I'm new, "kiddo".

Well, with that attitude, good luck getting any help
Duly noted, thank you. Maybe I wouldn't have an attitude if people like you would actually read and offer help instead of automatically assuming everyone who asks a question is a helpless tard who doesn't bother to search first - and speaking to them as such. Telling me to 'google it' is about as big of a condescending asshole as you can be.

Galaxy S5 NEO SM-G903F user thread.

Hi All!
I didn't see any thread yet for this phone, the Samsung Galaxy s5 NEO (SM-G903F).
Here you can share your experience and tips and tricks.
Unfortunately I didn't see any root for this phone, as well the custom roms aren't there.
So if you have a trick to root it, let it know in this topic!
I have this phone since last Saturday, till now I'm happy with the phone. I installed nova laucher on it, because it works better.
Can't wait to install a custom rom on it, with stock android.
Is this maybe something that can help? Also a Exynos processor.

Any idea where we can request it?

Someone posted request on Chainfire`s SuperSU thread, maybe he will notice
Step 1. Go into settings and enable installation of apps from unknown sources(settings>security>tick unknown sources)
Step 2. Go to https://towelroot.com/ and tap the brown lambda symbol to download towelroot app
Step 3. After download completes open the file, the android package installer will appear, press install
Step 4. Open the Towelroot app and press the "make it ra1n" button
Step 5. Enjoy your rooted S5
Last time I checked towelroot didn't do the S5 Neo... has this changed?
--EDIT-- Checked... it still does NOT support the S5 Neo.

Can someone confirm this? I don't own the phone so I can't try it myself.
Towelroot won't work for 2 reasons: its made for Snapdragon CPUs and it was only could be used on older versions of Android (KitKat).

hopefully we will get a alternative rom and root soon!
I've checked last week towel root and I confirm too that it does not work. Later I'm going to post here 2 pages that show how to root it but 1 one of them at least, I think is something like a fake because I don't trust pages requiring to complete surveys for files downloads...
The other one shows other methods but I tried some of them without success....
Maybe someone can do it.
By now my new s5 neo continue waiting for a root working method....
I've too much apps that need root access like titanium backup or xposed for example, and without all of them, my I9100 with resurrection remix last rom is by y now still being a better useful phone than s5 neo

I was on these sites as well, they're look kinda shady. Because you have several sites with different names, but the same lay-outs.
I don't trust these sites.
Maybe it's an idea to spam Chainfire's his topic? Because someone already asked to make a root for the s5 NEO in there.

DO NOT - repeat - DO NOT go on that survey site publishing an alleged S5 Neo root: it is a scammer.
I already confronted him directly, he also posted a video where he shows that he can download the APK file after submitting a couple of surveys but it is fake.
He's the only one claiming to have a rooting method (isn't it strange? and so soon?) and when confronted directly about his peculiar way of allowing download he hides away... DO NOT trust that, he has NO ROOT whatsoever, just a bunch of ads to make easy money.

Do not try the second one either have read of some people that allready tried all of them (on the site itself 3 people allready say it ain't working..) but didn't work! And there are only 2 reasonable options 1 is king root and the second is idd chainfire. But the second one i don't think we should spam his topic just like the post where the one guy is asking about it!

If you try the newest version it will say that there is no means to root. And you can request for them to research it like i believe 30 have done this according to the app. The more people who do this the more they'll think people actually want this.

Excellent! I wanted some confirmation from someone with the same phone (unlocked AT&T on N.)
Have you remained rooted since? I'm hearing mixed reports about performance and things stop working.) My primary concern though is our locked bootloaders. If we make changes that cause problems can we undo it? Like flashing the stock firmware? Thanks

Yes, I have remained rooted, but I ended up going back to stock G935A and then rooting again with that procedure. Personally, I was not getting the performance I was used to with the G935U as I was with the G935A with the root procedure.
Yes, there are some things that do not work with these eng.imgs that are being used to root the phones. There is NO Xposed for this one, Samsung Pay does not work, but I have been using Android Pay and it works just fine. As for the Bootloader, it is still LOCKED. There has not been any Unlocked bootloaders for the G935 or G930 so far and I don't think we will see it anytime soon.
As for Undoing, yes. There is a very simple way to go back to stock with Odin. In fact, about once a month, I return to stock just so I can get the latest security patch and then re-root my phone back to this way. I know it is somewhat of a pain, but with Titanium Back up I can get my phone back to running normally in a couple of hours.
Hope this helps...
It's not quite as fast, but if you are backing up and restoring to the same device, you can just use ADB. I still have a TiBu license, and use it on my Tab S2, but I have largely adapted to not having root on my S7 by taking advantage of basic ADB features.

One followup--when you say Xposed doesn't work, do you mean you tried the newest Nougat version that just got released? Or it never worked, not even on M?

What I meant was Xposed doesn't work on the current version of root using the eng.img. I have not tried using the NEW Xposed that is in THIS thread. I have looked at it but have not had a chance to run the zipped file and installing it. I know it works with MM as I had it working GREAT with MM and the eng.img with that version. I love Xposed and wish that was available for Nougat and N's root. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be fully implemented soon.

I tried this 4 times and failed. The problem is it just keeps rebooting (about every 45 to 60 seconds) after I flash the eng boot img. Im never able to run adb commands. If I start from a clean slate I can't even make it past the setup screens to enable debugging.
I'm reaching out to you because you succeeded with the same model SM-G935U
So I'm just seeing if you have any insights. My phone should be the same as yours. Only difference is mine came with 7.0 preinstalled. Maybe an earlier firmware? But that doesn't make sense because people are, to my understanding, using the eng boot with recent firmware.
I'll repost in the root thread if I need to but thought I'd see if you have anything to offer. Thanks

I seem to remember the constant rebooting on the U-Firmware also. I too kept trying and it finally took. I think I would take the OTA from the server and try to install the eng.img with Odin. When you do this, does Odin give you any errors? Or does it succeed at the installation?
It has been a few months since I rooted the U-Firmware so not for sure what fixed the rooting process. Sorry I couldn't be more help...

Thanks. No Odin works perfectly whether I flash eng boot or stock.
I looked at the root guide for Sprint and the process is a lot more involved. I believe he boots to recovery twice and wipes cache plus factory reset twice. He also stresses to get the root.bat run quickly to avoid bootloop.
Might be worth a shot but the process of running Odin, getting back to stock and restoring all my data winds up being close to a few hours so It'd be very helpful to find someone with the same issue as me who was able to resolve it.

None yet, it's the base for getting root, once we find a way to get it to stay rooted. It's mainly for those who upgraded to the 2nd iteration of the bootloader and can't downgrade to a rootable firmware (It's been confirmed by a few to work with the new Cyborg rom, albeit without root).
As of right now, unless you know why you need it, it's best to leave it alone.

Well, I may have spoke too soon, you guys might want to take a look here in the Cyborg rom thread, seems they have a modified U2 bootloader they're flashing and retaining root. One member has volunteered to do a factory reset to see if it survives, but if so, v2 bootloader may now be rootable, or at least on the right track for public use.

Thanks for answering that man. Haha. That's awesome that the guys got stuff moving that quickly. I knew that they had the files also, but, held off as long as they could until I came along.
But another useful feature I've noticed in this combo firmware is that there is an open unlock option now and mine sticks after reboot. I tried build roms, kernels,etc.. in the past that ended in ultimate failure. I'd like to start again. At the moment I just cruise the foreign forums grabbing whatever software I can find. I kinda have building only the tree down, not so much, as it's been years. I used to build Linux OS's a long time ago but forgot. I'll do my own research here if it, anybody wants to teach, I'm all ears, all eyes. Aloha
