Game cheating - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone I just wanted to see if anyone had tried using some hex editors like game cih, game killer, or game genie. The only one I can get to work is game genie. The other two say I don't have root. I'm a little confused by this because when supersu popped up I checked grant and I went back and made sure it always grants. When I open the apps it says root access granted. But still doesn't work. I assumed it might be busy box needed to be installed so I installed that. At least I think I did. I don't know how to test that. Any help would be appreciated.

either youre doin it wrong or its possible the apks need to be made compatible with newest kk... either way, i dont even bother anymore cuz most games i play are server sided n cant be hacked so easily.. also, hacking server sided games is illegal and not allowed here on xda to my knowledge.. im sure theres a gamecih thread on xda somewhere as well as other sites dedicated just to android game hacking where you could get more specific information on what youre looking for...

Why so many apps missing?!

OK, so after the Gingerbread update a TON of stuff I purchased in the market is no longer available.
Tweetcaster pro, FIFA, Abduction world attack, Paypal (official), The Sims..... What gives? I've never stolen software for Android, and I don't want to. I want my apps back! Ideas?

Use this apk to fix your market. Reboot. Should solve your problems.
Didn't work. :L Man, this is SUPER annoying.
You sure you did it right? I had the same exact problem with my apps...a lot of people have. That's the fix. Before I applied it, my Slingplayer wasn't showing up in the market...30 freaking dollar app..now it is.
I downloaded the .apk, installed, then rebooted. Nothing. Are you on Gingerbread?
Could someone running GB tell me if they can find tweetcaster pro or FIFA in the market?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
You need to run the app though lol. After you install, open your app drawer and run Market Fixer. Click Fix, THEN reboot. Yes, I'm on Gingerbread.
[thread jack alert!] wondering why sims doesnt show up in my market? any suggestions?

So if were not rooted this won't fix the issue?
I've had this problem for weeks. On stock 2.2, rooted and the apk didn't help. Seriously annoying bug.
Me Two
I don't believe it. I fell for the same thing. I just thought you installed it and it was suppose to fix. which it didn't. Been tryin to figure this out for two days. LOL. What an idiot me. Well at least I wasn't alone. hehehe

I was able to fix this, as I seemed to get a version update on my Market stealth (as it had the AdMob setting added to my Settings screen, where 2 days ago, it wasn't there). When that happened, all my apps returned.
Right before I found this, I did run the APK from above, but I used QuickReboot to reboot. Coincidence?
Now to get the 55 updates I missed over the past month...
I'm not rooted. That was the issue. I don't want to root either. EA Games took care of me. Now to email handmark.... :L

May I ask you why you don't want to root?
I know it's a dumb question, but have you checked the market website? I had a similar issue and was able to find and download the missing apps through the site.

You're welcome. It's good to know that there's at least one part of the market we can rely on.

Android Banking

Hello!
I'm really sorry, I'm asking here because don't know where to ask.
Few months ago I've bought on the Market Android Banking app. It was pooled from the Market. Right know I can't find it seems like it is not here anymore. Tried to contact developer he is not answering too.
Who can give me advice what to do? May be somebody have last version of that app 4.5.1
Can somebody help me? Or it is not worth it?
i have no idea but alot of banks have their own apps, like chase and etc.
You can always google android banking .apk (or whatever the name of the app is) and you should be able to find it like that. Find the apk file download from phone and install. Make sure you have install from unknown sources checked in your settings. Or download apk from computer and transfer to your sd card and install from there. Hope this helps!
Edit... also mobile banking applications are proven to not be that safe so at the least make sure you also download android firewall to make your information a little more secure. Remember though android phones are known to be very easily hacked into!!!!

Maybe its just me, but I would be very skeptical of any generic "banking" app, especially one that has now been pulled from the market. I would not touch it with a 100 ft pole...

Anti virus

Does anybody run a anti virus scanner on their phone.. if so which one...

I use Lookout sometimes
That said, as long as you check what permissions the apps you're installing are asking for, you're fine
I mean, an RPG game does not need access to your contacts or permissions to send SMS messages
The best antivirus in the end, is an observant end user

I use Comodo which I also use on my home computer. It does a lot more than just scan apps. I love it and its free.

I use lookout and it works great for me. Scans everything i download and backs up contacts. Also has good locate and scream case you lose it and will save last location before your phone dies. But as Cnexus said being observant of what you download is your best protection. Hope this helps!

Not advocating piracy, but if you pirate apps that have been cracked then an AV is a good choice. But as the second post the best av is you paying attention to what the app accesses.

Watch the permissions when you install and steer clear of skecthy sources.
I use web root secure anywhere. It has turned up some Trojans in some ROMs which kind of blew me away. I thought everything on xda was safe.

Well to begin with, the fact that android is based on Linux makes it even harder to exploit because of the whole permissions structure
On top of that you have the Android app permissions system and you have something very difficult to exploit in itself....I've never gotten one, but I've heard of malicious apps getting released (on the play store) back in the baby stages of Android (when froyo was just out) that used the froyo rooting exploits to bypass security checks and mess with the stuff on your phone.
But other than that, I've never heard of a any virus/exploit/targeted attack on android devices
The latest Android virus that I know of is BadNews.. It hit a few apps a few days ago, in the google play store. I believe it infected something like 2 Million phones.
So saying "I just get them from Google Play store" doesn't keep you safe.. Because apps are not tested before they hit the play store, and most of the android virus hit via the play store.
And if you have never heard of a virus that targets the Android, it's because you haven't taken the time to actually see if any actually exist. Linux is not hard to exploit, and neither is Android.

Completely agree on that the best anti virus is yourself. I don't even use one on my computers because most viruses mask themselves as anti virus programs.

Android is based on Linux. And if you say Linux is not hard to exploit, I suggest you do some reading yourself.

Magic 2014 duels of the plainswalker

when i tried to download this app it said that it wasnt compatible with my device. however, i saw my buddy who has a nexus 10.1 tablet (dont know what its called)
how do i get this app on my phone. this app was the only reason i wanted an iphone 5.
i want to get the full version of the app. i dont mind paying for it but i need a way to access the apk
i've found some sites that are hosting the apk and data but i'd rather ask here to see if anyone has got it working on their device
i currently have the modded google play store, i dont know if that has something to do with my issue
I might be wrong when I say this, but assuming you're rooted you should be able to edit the build prop of your phone the "trick" the Play Store to think you have another phone. I'd advise waiting for someone who knows what they're talking about before trying what I'm saying.

Maybe the Nexus 7 isn't compatible either? See if you can change it to say the Nexus 10 (I'm pretty sure that'd be the name of the device your buddy has).

This was frustrating for me also on my G Pro but I could download it on my old Note.
This is the free apk I took from my Note. Once you launch it for the first time it will download the data which is over a gig.
Works great for me..I'll probably buy the full game.

Anybody using an Antivirus app?

Hey all I am thinking it is probably worth using an Antivirus program. I have stayed away up and to this point because I am rooted and running xposed framework so I thought it may interfere. Wanted to get some thoughts from the community. Thanks in advance.

Most people will say no from what I've read.

I have malwarebytes installed, but I only use it when I think I may have something malicious on the phone, otherwise I have the app not running.
I use Advast. I have it on my computer and phone. I don't remember it saying it has caught stuff on my phone but I usually don't download anything sketchy either. It has a find your phone thing with it. I have had really good experiences with Advast and it doesn't seem to effect my battery all that much either. I still get great battery life. I am not rooted though so I have no idea if it will interfere but I know it has a feature if you are rooted to make it so it can't be uninstalled however so I would assume you would be fine.
Like a few posts above, if I want to scan a possibly sketchy apk I will use malwarebytes. I do the same on my PC, since I do very little downloading, I don't want a large software hogging my CPU so I run scheduled scans now and then. If you want the peace of mind, go for it
It's fundamental Linux, and I don't load anything I don't get here, so I don't worry about it.
