Unable to set a boot animation (noob) - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need help setting a boot animation on my note 3.i have tried the boot animations app from the play store and it doesn't work. I have tried replacing the Bootanimations. Zip file with no success. I looked in the systems/media/ and found the correct pmg file but have no idea what to do

I have rom toolbox pro from the play store it does all kinds of great things in the interface there is a boot animation changer you can import your own or use one of the many cool ones on there server. .check the app out its like 5$ but it does everything you'd ever need..the only rom I can't change boot animation on is beanstown's jelly beans rom. ..good luck

Problems with custom bootscreen

Im running CM6 and running into problems. I have done the push and pull on advanced and terminal. I ended up with no boot screen just the white screen with HTC evo 4g. So I tried and bought root explorer. I did rename the zips to bootanimation.zip and tried 2 seperate ones and can't get it to work.
I dis a nand restore and got the roms boot screen back up. Then I looked at where was said to put the zip and none of them had the zip. Just the /system/media has it. I was told to put it in /data/local/, /system/media, /system/custom. Each place I read was different. So I tried all three. Since I did a recover I don't have /system/custom anymore.
Anyways I looked through every folder and /system/media is the only one that had the zip. So I put a "f" after the zip when I renamed and didn't delete it if something goes wrong. I placed my custom one I downloaded of the sticky. Reboot and it had a boot screen different than the one I installed. Saidel android with a light glare going across the words. Deleted the custom zip and changed old zip back. Have no bootscreen now.

I can't seem to get my custom boot screens to work. When I do advanced or terminal I get no errors or anything.. everything goes smooth like butter to I try to see if it works and never does. Is this a problem with cm6? Anyone else on cm6 have a custom bootscreen to work? Are there certain ones that work only on 2.2 or 2.1? I tried the android pissing on the iPhone apple and the dancing android. Both didn't work. Still have no boot screen other than the white evolution 4g one.

I tried the bootanimation.zip for the Droid that he had on the post using adb. That worked the first time. Not sure why the other 2 wouldn't work but now have a boot screen

[Q] Cannot change boot animations/sound

Before you all start yelling at me for not looking around on the forum, i actually did look around, but most answers were different and were confusing me.
Im running bobcat Rom and the boot animation and sound are horrible! I tried alot of methodes to install boot animations but always failed.
Can someone please help me out with this stupid thing?
Thanks ♥
From where you are downloading bootanimation? It must be flashable zip file?

I tried boot animation app, and i tried some bootanimation from here, which i installed trough "install update from ZIP".
Yea..im quite confused with the bootanimation and bootsound file structure of this phone. Usually it will just be sitting there, bootanimation.zip, but here, all I see is .qmg?

I guess you forgot to paste the boot-animation link.
Your fone must be rooted as you are installing custom rom. you can manually replace the bootanimation file using root explorer.
Try this thread.

Let me know if you still have issue.
Yeah same all i see is .qmg
and tollboy, Isnt it obvious when someone has a custom rom, that hes phone is rooted? lol

I was implying the same..:victory:
Ok, but can someone ****ing give the solution already to this easy problem?
I have the same issue, is someone have found a solution yet????
you can copy/paste files to the phone in the followingstructure:-
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungmini.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungminiloop.qmg
/system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/PowerOff.ogg
/system/media/video/shutdown/shutdown.qmg
/system/media/video/shutdown/shutdown.qmg.cover
first 4 files are to do with boot animation, next 2 are the boot and shutdown sounds and the last 2 are shutdown animation.
once you copy them accross, you msut set permisions on all files to rw-r--r--
an example of a flashable zip is attached, and this just saves the bother of doing it all manually. just flash it from custom recovery (and maybe need to wipe dalvik and cache, I've heard that changes to system files on odex roms require this?)
p.s. the attached file is the s5 boot animations and sounds. i didn't make it....can't remember where i got it, so apologies to the creator

Boot Animation Request - N4 Stock

I have done some searching to see if anyone has done this already and not found anything. Has anyone ported the stock Nexus 4 boot animation to Nexus 5 resolution? I preferred that Nexus boot animation to the one that came with the N5, and would love to have it scaled up to fit the resolution of this phone.
I'll port it tomorrow when I have time (I have finals to study for).

Thanks a lot! That would be awesome.

Here, this should work. (Removed since it didn't work) Happy theming!
Thanks bud, unfortunately it didn't work. I replaced my stock one with this in Root Explorer, and it stayed on the boot up "Google" image all the way until loading the lock screen. It never played the boot animation.

Sorry for that. I'll fix it when I get home.
Sorry for the bug. I redid it so check if it works now : http://d-h.st/L0n Remember to put it in the system/media without renaming it. Backup your old bootanimation in case. Happy theming.

would love to try this.. do u just flash in recovery?? how would i go about backing up my current.. just make a back up in twrp>?
Using root explorer or other root file app, you rename the old bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bak
The you copy and paste the new file you downloaded into the system/media folder

Sorry to make another note on this, the image is super stretched out, so something may have gone wrong with the resolution.

[Q] [4.4.2] Lost boot animation

I tried to use live dmesg lite to change my boot animation, this failed and I ended up in a boot loop. Some recovery adb fiddling later and I've got a bootable Nexus 10 again, which is great, but now I have no boot animation at all. I noticed that since I told live dmesg to uninstall the animation I have no /system/bin/bootanimation file at all.
If I want the animation back would it be as straight forward as replacing that file? If so, is there anyone here who could provide it? If not, what do I need to do?
Here's a link for the original animation. Just adding the boot animation file should work, I presume. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1MWexkzYR_bcG96UVJhTzl1MEk/edit?usp=docslist_api

I lost my boot animation !! I tried to mod the bootanimation and accidentally used the bootanimation4u.zip found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063280).
I now have no boot animation and it does not seem to want to take any .zip file I place in the Media or Local folders.
Thoughts?
Are you running stock ROM?

Have you verified the boot animation.zip permissions to be rw-r--r-- ?

[Q] Customise screen off animation?

Pretty much as the title says. Any ideas? I tried the xposed mod screenoffanimation but that didn't work (it said it wouldn't in the description but thought I'd give it a shot anyway).
I could never able get it to work.

Just search up Samsung boot animations. If it is a flashable zip, just flash it. Otherwise replace the files in /system/media with the contents of the zip.

Many animations have screen off animations. If it includes a shutdown.qmg it has a shutdown animation.
