Play store works - Fire TV General

Hi guys,
I got play store working following the instructions for HDXposed on the fire hdx tablet here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618158
and installing google services / apps based on these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787813
combined with instructions here on how to set xbmc as the default launcher:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786618
and the ability with amber xbmc skin to run android apps from the homescreen (including KFTV Launcher) this is finally shaping up to some goodness.

confirmed working for me, i just followed the instructions in the Second Link posted above only, play store is functioning normally with paid apps showing and installing properly.

IT WORKS!
thanks!!! it works like a charm

Just thought I'd chime in here and confirm also.. Good find

Have any of you attempted to install play store apps before?
These instructions did not work for me. Maybe due to previous install attempts.
Even when I clear data and uninstall the apps then re-install, it still has my account name there and I get 'NO CONNECTION - RETRY"
May have to Reset box again.

i had previously installed the store with no luck prior to today. i just installed the apks from the second link above after installing xposed, restarting, and enabling the HDXposed module. The store started right up.

@jljaries42 if you haven't tried already, used titanium backup to uninstall the existing versions then try this method
@nhumber did you already have the first step xposed installed or you skipped it altogether and it's working for you?

Followed instructions to a T.. not a newb here but did not work for me.. perhaps you had allready done something else before doing that? When i launch the play store it never opens.. (well opened for a brief second then goes back to launcher)

Worked for me no problem! Even grabbed a few of my emulators from the play store. Thanks.

Working now
Used Titanium to get rid of old google apps/data
Re-installed google apps.
Most important - enable Xposed module - CHECK THE BOX
Reboot gave me a scare - it displayed the FireTV update screen - Installing new software. But no update occurred.
Even then it had 'NO Connection'
Cleared play store data - Then it worked

I had had Google play store, framework and services etc... Installed before and it had said no connection. When trying to run play store. Before following the instructions above I had uninstalled all of the Google apps through the amazon settings-apps menu except the one that doesn't show (play services?). That one I installed over the old one using adb install -r package name.apk. and it worked. Have you also enabled 3rd party sources with sqlite editing of the settings.db?

I already had everything installed from my previous attempts I just installed the exposed modules and cleared data on the play store
How is everyone getting around everything saying it isn't compatible?

Hi, I'm trying to make this work. I installed everything. Installation seems fine. I launch xposed framework. It sees HDXPosed modele BUT using the FTV remote if I click on it to activate I receive a "This module doesnt provide a user Interface" and the module remains inacttive.
If I try to launch Google Play store is appears for a moment then shuts down. I think it depends by the fact the module is not active.
Since I dont have a keyborad right now, is there a way to activate it manually?
Thanks.
Pino.

This works great! Finally this device is starting to come along! I wasnt able to install the module without a keyboard and then i had to power cycle manually from there to get the changes to take effect.
UPDATE: Play store is missing certain apps like Youtube, poweramp full etc =/.. Maybe build.prop edit can resolve

Does the device go to sleep if it is running xbmc as a launcher?

If you follow the procedure on the xbmc wiki it does in fact go to sleep. It is the method i use.
Also adb after rebooting and trying a few different things... i adb install -r all the apk's again and that seemed to do it.
Not sure why it didnt work the first time.

[Google Apps] Without Rooting Kindle Fire 6.2.1

It is totally possible to sideload google apps without Rooting on version 6.2.1. It is a fairly simple process but needs to be done in the correct order.
1.Open Settings
2. Select Device
3. Turn on Allow Installation of Applications from Unknown Sources
4. Download GoogleServicesFramework.apk and install. You need to download the correct version or it will not install. I apologize for not having the version number but currently it can be found @ www.mediafire.com/?4ykd6rdikmz5l8c
6.Download books.apk - Do Not Open
7. Reboot
8. Open Books and add google account. This even works with multiple accounts.
9. Shortly after you should have a notification requesting permission of your google account. Click allow.
10. Sideload Google apps of your choice. See below for options.
Google Apps that work
Google Music
Google +
Google Books
others...
Sideloading Google Apps
1.Sideloading Google app of your choice
1a.Find on filesharing website i.e. 4shared.com, filestube.com, etc.
1b. Backup from another device and use drop box to access
1c. Transferring apk via USB
2. Open .apk file and click install
This will work flawlessly if done in the right order. Remember GoogleServicesFramework.apk install, books.apk, reboot , open books , add account, and voila.
If I have helped you please thank me.
Enjoy.....

Thanks, that's great news since I'm getting one for Christmas and I just read Amazon is forcing that update :/
6.2
Will this also work with 6.2?
install lookoutsecurity before installing apps from third party warez sites............or just root it and use android market
This is fantastic. Once I have books installed and my gmail account synced, will I be able to just grab a Market apk to sideload and then get everything I want from the Market?
I've been back and forth between the Nook Tablet and the Kindle Fire as my cheap tablet to buy, and the Nook Tablet took a big hit when they disabled sideloading. I think the Kindle Fire is popular enough that it will also be a target for an official CM9 release as the CM9 project gains steam.

The subject of the thread is wrong Misleading.
You can't install the GoogleServicesFramework.apk into /system/app where it needs to be in order for it to work without having root access.
Update:
You need that GoogleServicesFramework.apk to do things like Android Market, Gmail etc...
You can only install a few google apps without root access. The Market Place requires root access, which you can't get with the latest version of the kindle software (6.2.1)
If you are rooted and have Market already installed, will today's update make Market stop working?
If you have GoogleServicesFramework.apk installed, will that cease to function?
Will it break the wallpaper change fix?

Depends how you installed/updated it. All files in /system/app get replaced. If you installed the market place and it has since updated itself (installing to a different location that doesn't get cleared with the update) then you should be okay. Had a fresh install of the Market Place following online guides to copy it into /system/app then a good chance it will stop working.

I lost root and Google Currents after 6.2.1 update. I still have a functional Android market and Gmail. Google Currents won't install now. I get an error stating missing Google library.
Any suggestions how to reinstall Currents. BTW, I was able to install Google Books successfully. Thanks.

I reinstalled the 'GoogleServicesFramework.apk' (the version I had installed previously, not the one linked above). It installed fine but I get The application Market has stopped unexpectedly Force Close when I boot the Kindle, and also when I try to run the Market place and Install an app.
Until I ran the GoogleServicesFramework.apk I didn't get the bootup error. I ran the installer from the sdcard, previously (with root access) I was able to copy and run it from '/system/app' which I think makes all the difference.

Does your Gmail still update itself and show new email notifications without you having to open gmail and manually refresh? I think though Gmail still runs the service that runs in the background has stopped post update.

Your correct. Gmail no longer auto updates. When opened it shows "no conversations." Thanks for your reply.
I had 6.2 rooted but got updated to 6.2.1 even I amended the hosts file and rename the Silent apk to bak, also with TWRP 2.0 installed. Anyway, I re-install the GoogleServicesFramework.apk, and I can access the Android Market again.
I tried to use the GoogleServicesFramework.apk link provided in this thread, but it didn't work. The original one worked, so I am happy to be able to access the Android Market again.
didnt work for me
Very important! it now works, u must have the right google frameworks, if it installs u have right one. Then dont use the vending apk, i use the apk that said market apk and it worked perfectly, market now works.

How to Install Google Play Store

Now that we have root I've been able to test and verify that Google Play Store can be installed. So far I'd had no issues. Obviously you'll need root access first which I've put links below.
Rooting tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544965
Rooting video: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546117
1. Download the following zip file which includes all the required files (KFHDX_PlayStore).
2. Install Google Account manager, Services Framework, and Play Services (it is not necessary to install as system app).
3. Reboot
4. Install Vending.apk in "system/app" (requires to make "/system" RW) then open up the app and log-in with you account.
5. Install Google Play Store
Even though Play Store can be installed with account, downloading of apps are not working. Stay tuned.

Yes, Play Store is working fine and now shows up in my Play Store setting account. Versions are as follows:
Account manager: 4.03
Services Framework: 4.04
Play Services: 4.034
Only Account Manager and Framework require the older version. Play Services always works on KF with latest version. Also Play Store is latest version as well.

I will make a video soon but it's basically the same as the KF HD so you can check that video for now. I would suggest for everyone that is having trouble to make sure you remove all sideloaded Google apps if you had installed them. I had some issues before when I tried to re-install some Google apps after removing my account. I began with a fresh start that had no sideloaded apps. So far I'd had no issues with FC, or messages. I know people suggest installing all apps in system/app but if I prefer to keep system app installation to a minimum. If it doesn't require it then I don't do it. That was the case with old KF HD and I had no issues and I will do the same on the KF HDX.

Working Playstore

Finally solved and working. I've tested almost all Google Apps and they work, including hangouts. The device used is a Amazon Fire HD 6.
Files needed for this process can be found here. Download these to your device prior to starting the guide. Also download "ES File Explorer" free from the Amazon Appstore, and ensure Root Explorer is enabled in the options.
Obtain root here.
Change over to SuperSU and install busybox following this guide.
Disconnect WiFi
Install all five APK files you download before starting this guide. Do not open them yet.
Run SystemAppMover and convert Google Account Manager, Google Playstore, Google Services Framework, and Google play services into system apps. (The key to this step is to make sure that the apps are in "\system\priv-app" directory. When I was using Titanium Backup, or "otherways" to convert them to system apps they were being moved to the "\system\app" directory. They MUST be in the "\system\priv-app" folder to function correctly)
Reboot
Run ES File Explorer and navigate to the "\data\app" directory. Create 4 directories named
com.android.vending-1.apk
com.android.vending-2.apk
com.google.android.gms-1.apk
com.google.android.gms-2.apk
Select each folder, press more in the bottom right corner and choose properties. Click the change button next to permissions, uncheck all checkmarks and hit OK. Doing this will prevent any of these APK from updating.
Re-enable wifi, and enjoy.
The road to victory...
FINAL UPDATE: Solved by moving the 4 google APK files from \system\app folder to the \system\priv-app folder. YUP, that simple. Installing as just as system app wasn't granting enough permissions I don't think. Will update and clean up guide, thanks again to everyone for help on this one!
UPDATE #5: 5/22/2015 0035 CST: I was really trying to avoid this but I'm going to factory reset and start all over, no matter what I do now I just get force closes. From what I can tell in Logcat it looks like a problem with the download manager? If anyone has more insight into the logcat please PM me or post. Hopefully this weekend I'll have the time needed to spend doing this.
UPDATE #4: 5/19/2015 0759 CST: Still more of the same force closing and sporadic unstable behavior. I've tried version of Play services from 6.5.99- current all with the same results. I've tried multiple versions of the play store as well all the way back into the 4.X.XX. The only thing that ever gets me close seems to be wiping the cache of play services and store. I usually can at least begin to download something before I force close. I've started removing other variables apps as well but nothing seems to help. This is all happening before services does its auto background update, so I dont think it's that problem. I've used 034 and 070 versions of services both having the same results. Will keep testing as time allows. I'm using an Amazon Fire HD 6. Two people have confirmed working on HD 7's, waiting on versions they have been successful with.
UPDATE #3: 5/17/2015 2214 CST: Still having issues with random force closes. When wiping the cache for the playstore and Google Services it seems that it will work for a short time, and then after closing will go right back to a force close. I'm going to try to upgrading services to a slightly newer build and freeze it from updates (although that has not yet caused the problem we seem to be facing). If this does not work I will try rolling the store version back and see if it can be frozen from updates. I'm at work now so hopefully I'll have a chance to do some testing early morning - tomorrow afternoon.
UPDATE #2: 5/17/2015 1624 CST: Problem seems to lie in Google Play Services Auto Updating. Use Version 6.5.99 provided by @powerpoint45 in his GAPPS tutorial. I first converted the new on to a user app, uninstalled it, reinstalled his 6.5.99 version converted it back to system app and changed permissions on the new install:
Code:
pm grant com.google.android.gms android.permission.INTERACT_ACROSS_USERS
These are the versions I am using and everything is working fine so far:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I will thoroughly test it this time, and if all is well I will condense and clean this guide up.
UPDATE #1: 5/17/2015 1525 CST: This worked 100% before I went to bed, I woke up and tried to launch playstore and it is sitting at a white screen. I think it has something to do with something updating I am working on fixing it now. I will post updates here, as I solve this.
Here we go, 100% Playstore functionality as far as I've tested so far.
Installed powerpoint45's second GAPPS package as outlined in his thread about installing GAPPS.
I'm no expert but I think the important step here is changing the permissions via ADB as described in his post.
Used Kingroot to root as outlined in the rooting instructions post.
Changed over to SuperSU following this guide.
After obtaining root I used an App called System App Converter (I'm sure there are many other ways to do this) and changed the following apps to system apps:
Google Play Store (com.android.vending)
Google Services Framework (com.google.android.gsf)
Google Play Services (com.android.google.gms)
Playstore seems to function just fine for me now! Yay!
Other possible variables to getting this to work:
I have the following 2 packages blocked via ADB (This will stop OTA)
com.amazon.otaverifier
com.amazon.dcp
:highfive::good::fingers-crossed:
Hope this keeps working and helps someone else get this working! Thanks to everyone who got us this far!
Do uknow how to block the ad and **** that pop up when using this tablet out of the blue on the bottom or middle sometimes ??

Yay, for sure! Thanks a lot. Could you please add how you blocked OTA updates after rooting? That would make your post the go-to one for getting this job done.

Have you followed the installing GAPPS guide at the top of the post and used ADB to change the permissions as outlined by Powerpoint45? That I think is an important step in this process.
EDIT: Having same problem now, working on a solution, watch OP.

This happens also on 2013 Kindle Fire HD and other devices running Fire OS 4.x.x. We fixed it by downgrading Play Services and preventing it from updating. Here's the method we used.
- You need Busybox Pro. May want a terminal emulator
- This assumes com.google.android.gms-1.apk is in /data/app
1. Install Busybox Pro (needed for the chattr command)
2. Go to APKMirror site and download an older version of Google Play Services, but DON'T INSTALL IT YET.
I'm using v. 7.0.96". It's from March but current Play Store and all google apps work with it, and you can try a later version, uh, later.
For 2013 7" HD the apk is com.google.android.gms-7.0.96_(1785884-034)-7096034-minAPI9.apk. Note: The 3 numbers after the dash (1785884-nnn) matter. Read the info at APKmirror to choose the right one.3. Turn off wifi
4. Uninstall the Play Services update (may need to use file explorer)
5. Install the older Play Services you got.
6. Make sure you have /data/app/com.google.android.gms-1.apk, not gms-2
7. On terminal emulator or from a cmd window run:
Code:
adb shell
su
touch /data/app/com.google.android.gms-1.apk
chattr +i /data/app/com.google.android.gms-1.apk
The +i (immutable) prevents any changes. Use -i to reverse.8. Turn on wifi and try play store. Reboot and recheck that it's okay.
If still problem with play store, get Play Store 5.4.1.0 from APKMirror and install. It will update to the current version (5.4.1.2) and then work..
Not working for me either ...
I've matched the google apk versions, converted to system with Titanium Backup, and still end up with the white screen. Youtube works, so the permissions are fine.
So far there only seems to be 1 person able to get Playstore to work (the original poster).

Well, I've temporarily resolved the problem, upon coming home from a run after everything working and in order, the play store started to force close everytime I tried to open it. Nothing had updated yet and I didn't do anything on the tablet so I'm assuming something happened in the background. I'm going to try your method or freezing the updates to services (although version numbers matched when I came back) and see what the result is. Also I'm going to try to roll back the playstore. So you know if it would be possible to freeze it as well? Upon clearing services catch the playstore then opened and shortly forced closed after. So what ever the issue is seems to have something to do with what's being written to the cache.

Sorry, I haven't tried freezing so can't say. Seems like that would disable it, and google could still install an update. Anyway, the commands were used throughout the KFSOWI community, and Play Store and all current versions of google apps--gmail, g+, hangouts--have been working fine for several weeks. As I remember, though, I had to open and close some a few times to get past an error saying something like "requires play services update." Anyway, worked a treat!
Caveats: Not sure I'm using same version of google services framework as you, if that would matter. (I'll check shortly.) Also be sure you get the right play services for your device based on those 3 numbers.
EDIT: My Google Services Framework=4.4.4, FWIW.
Couple other thoughts...Play Store rollback sounds like good plan. Maybe Services 6.5.99 just doesn't support current version(?) Also, if you really want to stay on services 6.5.99, you could turn off wifi, move everything back to data and run the following commands, which creates a fake update file and prevents access. (Need ROM toolbox pro)
adb shell
su
touch /data/app/com.google.android.gms-1.apk
chattr +i /data/app/com.google.android.gms-1.apk

Great thoughts exactly what I was thinking in your edit. The fact it's opening then just force closing is making me think that for some reason that version of services is not compatible with the newer version of the store. I Think what I will try to do is first use a newer version of services and freeze it to see if that resolves it If that doesn't work I'm going to try to roll back services and the store and freeze them both. Feel like it's something trivial at this point. Having the newer versions may help keep things compatible longer.

Do you know where I can get this version, I fear that this maybe causing an issue as well. So far I'm still having force closes that can almost always be solved by wiping store data and sometimes Google play services. I've tried various combos of play store and playstore services. I did an oopsie in frustration and wiped the framework but after doing a bit of reading I certainly having at least 4.4.2 would be ideal.

Just google "xda install adb"
In order to prevent Apps installed trough Playstore, just uncheck the "Auto Update" if you click the top right corner at the Google Playstore and also go to settings (Swipe from left to right) and select "Automatic App-Updates" from General tab and disable them.
I'm currently using:
Root with Kingsroot - SU sideloaded
Google Play Store 5.5.8
Google Play Services: 7.0.99 (1809214-034)
Google Play Framwork: 4.0.4-338691
All Apps working (Adsense, Hangouts, Google Search, Calendar etc.)
I also installed Cyanogenmod (11) the HDX (3rd gen) installs successfully, but it laggs badly so it's not that controlable. Had to reset it, maybe it's a hind to play around with those Kernels
Greetings

Hi . . . It's not the app updates that are causing the problem, it's play services updating from the version installed by the gaaps package they are using. What gaaps did you install? How long has it been working for you? Thanks.

[How-To-Guides] V4A, Play Store/Xposed And More!

Hey all,
I'm a regular on these forums (throughout the day every day) and like to develop my own ROMs for other devices and help out in every way I can!
I noticed a lot of threads spread out across the AFTV forum for Xposed, Gapps etc. I however feel they should all be in one place!
I will provide details/instructions for things that worked for me.
I will not have guides someone else made without their permission as well as I will provide credits where due!
* I will not cover rooting or installing a pre rooted ROM.
* I will assume if you are here you are on @rbox latest rom/recovery. You have root with SuperSU and a working Busybox.
* Thread will be cleaned and links added soon!
*I will upload files I know work 100% to either my AFH or my Drive folder.
* Eventually (when I get my keyboard/mouse) I will be creating ROMs with all of this baked in.
Xposed+Play Store
I didnt get around to pictures and a more advanced tutorial YET but willpost screens later:
1) Be on rbox latest pre rooted rom and recovery.
2) Download the following: Xposed framework, Xposed installer apk, hdx module apk, open gapps nano flashable zip, lean back playstore 5.10 & Market helper apk (market helper might not be necessary but I used it.)
https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0By9dxKZHr9vaUVhMRnc0RGxTNnc/edit
3) Have a custom launcher already such as leanback launcher or firestarter etc. as well as a root browser like es file explorer and/or root browser.
4) If mouse doesnt work then use a mouse apk such as Wukong on play store.
5) Move all downloaded files to storage of choice (internal sd card, microSD or usb storage)
6) Boot into TWRP and navigate to the Xposed framework and flash it then reboot system.
7) Once booted install the Xposed installer apk and reboot.
8) Install HDX module apk.
9) Go into Xposed installer it should say everythings installed. Go to modules and use a mouse to check the box for HDX and reboot.
10) Boot back into TWRP and navigate to and flash the open gapps zip and reboot to system.
11) Go into system/priv-app/Phonesky/ and delete the phonesky apk and reboot.
12) Using a root browser, navigate to the leanback play store we downloaded and rename to Phonesky.apk
13) Copy the apk and put it in /system/priv-app/Phonesky/Phonesky.apk
14) Set permissions on Phonesky.apk to rw-r-r and reboot
15) When booted back up, using a 3rd party launcher, open Play Store.
16) You might need to use a mouse again to be able to sign into google account.
17) optional step, install market helper apk and set to Google/Android TV.
Play Store should work and download apks successfully.
Note: As usual usb debugging should be on throughout the whole process and when opening stuff make sure to grant su permissions if it pops up throughout the process.
V4A with Neon
1) Download latest V4A apk and push to device.
2) Install apk and open it.
3) When it prompts, install driver (if it gives an option install highest quality.)
4) Download and extract zips at this drive folder (also download the v4a apk while youreat it) :
https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0By9dxKZHr9vaOHJOMkc3TUFsSXM/edit
5) Take all the files and place in respective folders. For example, 50viper.sh goes into /system/etc/init.d/50viper.sh
6) Each file we push needs to have permissions set to rw-r-r.
7) Reboot device.
8) Push universal init.d from the play store to your device and install it.
9) Open it and grant su. You should see the 50viper.sh file. Turn the init.d switch to on in the app and then press the start button towards top right.
10) you should see it say it was started. Now open the V4A app and select the menu button (you can use menu button on fire tv remote) and go to driver status.
It should say everything thing is enabled and supported! Keep in mind it will not show processing unless you are playing audio.
Miscellaneous APK's (Leanback Youtube, ADB Wifi, Kodi 15.2 etc. Is a work in progress...)

Installing games with OnePlus 8 Pro

Hi XDA,
Phone: OnePlus One Pro 8
Model: IN2025
OS: Oxygen OS 11.IN11AA
Magisk:1469b82a (21101)
I recently rooted my phone and it works quite well, I have used Magisk Hide to 'hide root from my banking apps', it works so does NFC and google pay.
I hide the following service through magisk hide: (Banks, Google Play Game, Google Play Services, an authenticator (Duo Mobile))
1) However, I don't seem to be able to install some games from google playstore, namely : Eve Echoes, World of Warships, Warpath ..all of them download but give the error "Can't install, try again"
Is there a work around?
2) On a side note: is apkpure a trusted website (they seem to have APKs for everything)?
Thank you!
Cheers,
DV

I'm not sure about why google play won't work, probably you can try to wipe data and cache of the Google Play services and google play store and maybe that would work?
I have the apkpure app and it works beautifully, it updates my apps and games faster than the app store and even beta version you can find there. I mainly use apkpure so I can download games and apps that are "not available in my region"

@dvartak May sound stupid, but does the Play Store app has storage access ? I had the same message when using microg and the Play Store, I wasn't able to install any "big" app until I gave the storage permission.

Hi,
Yes, it does. I can install big games and apps. I can install Genshin impact and other games(offline), which is why I am perplexed as to why others won't install.

Hi dladz,
I turned off play protect, restarted the phone and cleared storage and cache.
No luck
Any other ideas?
Cheers,
DV

That's bizarre never heard of it
Can I ask, have you got the dreaded lucky patcher installed?
If not then might be time to clear down play services, play store, play games etc, sign out - sign in
Try pushing the game by saying you want to install it via the web.
Go here and sign in, then find the game, choose your phone and itll push to your device, don't let the play store open the link
https://play.google.com/store
What modules do you have installed??

The only thing I have installed is systemless. I tried installing magiskhide props config to see if it helped; it did not, so I uninstalled it.
On the web, it says 'installed', but it isn't.
EDIT: I tried with another gmail account, reinstalling google play games.
Other online games such as Clash of Clans seem to work, so does Among Us and Genshin Impact.
The ones that don't work that I have tried: Eve Echoes, WarPath and World of Warships < All of these show up as installed on the web (but aren't installed on any android device that I own).
Eve Echoes downloads starts installing and gives the error unable to install.
Can some one who is rooted try if these games will work.
ok, one more interesting update: Netflix app seems to work, I thought it shouldn't work on rooted phones.

I have the apkpure app and it works beautifully, it updates my apps and games faster than the app store and even beta version you can find there. I mainly use apkpure so I can download games and apps that are "not available in my region"

Do you mind linking the APKpure app here please. My guess is that I have to side load it.?

Ill try them, see what I get, not my types of games but sure np.
Must have detected root.
I think it's the game detecting it, not your system. Or Google play won't allow the installation if you're rooted on those games.
I'll try them now.
Seems to be working for me..that's warpath.. Installed then verified in game. I have play protect off
This is my version of magisk on canary.
Edit: Image uploads not working on the app.
It's version 1469b82a
You could maybe change to canary then update, will need to repatch and update magisk manager. It's easy, no need for ADB

Just so that I have understood it correctly,
Step 1: Set channel to Canary,
Step 2: Update Magisk and Manager to whatever is latest
Step 3: move the magisk_patched file to my downloads folder
Umm..what do you mean by repatch and update magisk ?
Sorry
Cheers,
DV

Ok so change to canary.
Head back to the normal magisk screen.
You'll see two install/update buttons
Top is magisk
Bottom is magisk manager
Update the manager, it'll download,, then click install.
Next click magisk then install directly
Reboot and you're done .
PS: have your original magisk patched img ready just in case but I've done this a LOT and have never had an issue, so you'll be fine.

One quick question, should I disable magisk hide (settings) and systemlesshosts before doing this ?
EDIT:
a) ok so I tried this, I disabled the magisk hide before attempting this, it detected my magiskpatch during direct install. When the phone rebooted things were a bit slow and my internet was not working. Another reboot and everything was fast again, but no luck with Warpath.
b) Tried to clear cache and storage for playstore and google play games. Shutdown the phone, started it again.
No luck.
c) I downloaded APKPure to try and download 'Warpath', it downloaded but would not proceed with installation., I had to manually click install APK.>The game starts and asks to download additional files..., files are downloaded and it fails to install.
In the grand scheme of things it would be great if I could install everything, I can get by with not installing these games. I fear that this might an issue with others apps as well although so far I have not encountered any problems.
Any other things I could try ?
2) On another note, I wanted to know how I could backup my active partition (just incase I want to try things and something breaks).
3) This might not be related at all, I noticed that my root folder (using solid explorer) shows 0B free of 1.42 GB. Is this normal that the root folder is completely full ?
Thanks!
Cheers,
DV

Yes it's tthat's similar to mine. It's possible that that's the problem but I've not witnessed that before, maybe it is the problem.
Ok so it seems were running low on fixes here..it's almost certainly a permissions issue, maybe the system space? I'm guessing!
Have you tried to mount namespace??
Did you hide magisk manager? Unhide it. Btw I don't mean magisk hide I mean the manager, then reboot.
I'm not sure if there is a way to reset all permissions to apps including Android system apps but that would be my next step.
Beyond that, remove modules and wipe system in recovery, it'll be you're system, apps, settings, but storage will remain, it's what I do if I need to start over as system is where 90% of issues reside.. You will need to fastboot boot the magisk patched img then directly install after.
If it's not that then it's a deeper problem and even though it's just a few games at the moment it won't fix itself, so without a tonne of troubleshooting then it'll be MSM or full zip restoring. Probably MSM though as you'll get fresh everything.
Hang on your internet didn't work??
That's a sign that you're using a boot.img from the previous firmware??
That could be the problem. Re download you're firmware using oxygen updater mate.
Open settings /advanced
Then download the full zip.

Yeah you have to side load it. You can go to their official page to download it or use this link

Apologies for not being clear.
My wifi was connected there was just no data transfer.
The only magisk patch I have is from the large file that the phone/oxygen OS downloaded to get me OS 11. You helped me on my other thread.
