failing odin 1.85 and 3.07, flashing the stock 4.2 rom and it's failing, I don't see a stock 4.4.2 rom for sprint online so I'm using this one. It's failing odin, what needs to be done?
You CANNOT go back to an older version on android via ODIN. This has been covered countless times. Grab NAE tar and flash it via odin. There is a thread in development section with the download link that is on the first page. Since you say you cannot find it.means that you have not searched.

You will need to go into recovery mode and do a data wipe to resolve.
I learned this one the hard way but the jump from 4.2 to 4.4 seems too wide to do by Odin in a single flash.

I truly need the community's help on this one. Trying to fix a rom that I was using, I decided to wipe everything to reflash it. However, some how I read the thread wrong. Using TWRP, I formatted the "internal storage" thinking that was going to fix my Rom problems.
Now, I can't boot into the Rom or any rom, unless I wipe everything and restore one of my back ups. I restored a back up and it booted, but my data is jacked and phone service is not operable. I thought maybe a reboot will fix it, and now my phone is stuck at "Samsung Galaxy S 4". It doesn't move from there.
What should I do? How do I get it it continue the boot into the rom after a regular reboot? How do I get my radio back?
It's funny to me because I usually never get this careless with my phone. So I can laugh about it but damn I have to figure this one out!
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am by know means an expert but I think you may have to start here with the firmware files then try and flash your backup http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919

Thanks Chief, let me try that!
Thanks Chief. Unfortunately, that didn't work. I used Odin to flash the Firmware files and let it reboot. I'm still stuck at the Samsung Gal...boot screen. Let me try manually going into recovery and restoring.
Any other ideas? Anyone?

Have you tried flashing the complete odin ROM? You can find the all in one somewhere on the dev thread, it has rom, kernel, firmware and the rom all in one as it came from samsung. That should take care of your problem. It will wipe everything, or I think there was also a thread somewhere with odin flashables that didn't wipe data or internal sd but I can't seem to find it right now.

Exactly. I'm on the target. I'm currently waiting for this tar that will unroot the phone. It is MDL but I will update and reroot. I hope this does the ticket. I'm going to use Odin to flash it or unroot.
Well strike two. That didn't work either. I downloaded a unrooted MDL tar and connected to Odin. When through the entire process and it rebooted. It still is stuck at "Samsung Galaxy S4".
I read on the Nexus 7 that I might have to reflash a system.img and boot.img? Someone else had a similar experience on the N7 and had to download it via flashdrive and then install via recovery. I'm not saying that's the case but I wonder if I need to reflash a boot.img or something.
Please help. Not sure where to go at this point. Unrooting didn't help.
Try downloading this file extract the tar and flash that in PC Odin. (don't check repartion!).
That is the full stock MF9 firmware, boot, recovery, kernel and ROM.
Then maybe use CF Autoroot, then goomanger to get twrp and flash one of your nand's

leader, chief, ifly4,...I'm making progress.
leader, actually I flashed a previous version, the MDL via Odin. At first it didn't boot as stated in my previous post. I decided to wipe and factory reset. """"Bingo"""" it booted. Now I'm on MDL and unrooted. However, I transferred my phone over to a previous device so I can't update profile and prl. I'm going to activate the phone and see if it works. For some reason I can't can't seem to get a radio signal on it. It shows the be O with the slash in the middle. This is what it looked like before I deactivated it and lost everything before.
I post back with results. Not quite solved yet.
Thanks leader and everyone else.

It says L720VPUAMDL. I actually got it going. I had to change it from WCDMA to CDMA and reset. Now I'm unrooted. and going. However, leader, is there away to update the modem/baseband before I root? Or should I root then flash the MF9 Modem?
if you got MDL to activate you can jst take the OTA update to MF9. It will update it all.
Then use CF-Autoroot to gain root. After that same - install goomanager from Playstore and use it to install TWRP.

Awesome. Hey thanks again leader for helping me out. I'm usually never careless with these things. I use SACS rom but decided to try Miui. From some reason every time I flash Miui, I get the "Roaming Indicator Off" thing along with two signals. Reading the thread it suggest to format the internal. Why oh Why did I try that step. The rest is history....
Thanks again. Learned a lot with this process.

Hello everybody im in a little bit of a crisis.
I tried to update my modem to MK2 and I used odin to do so. It turns out that it failed for some reason.
After that whenever I boot my phone it gives me a black screen and says Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
After that I followed this youtube video right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1jyZ5QafAQ and downloaded this file to go back to stock: http://downloadandroidfiles.org/download-l720vpuamdc_l720sptamdc_spr-zip/
But yet it still gave me a Fail in odin. Any help would be appreciated as I am Freaking out right now
Here is the message log directly from odin when it starts
Firmware update starts
aboot.mbn
NAND write start
Complete(Write) Operation Failed
I switched USB ports now Odin is saying there is no PIT partition

If your on MJA/MK2 firmware (bootloader) you cannot go back to MDC (the file you showed).
Also did you run PC Odin 'As Administrator'?
You can find the link to the MK2 here.

I am on MDC bootloader. What I did was download the tar file from stockroms.net for MDC. And I ran the 3.07 odin as adimistrator and it worked. Thank you cause I think that it was me not clicking run as administrator. Another question: Is it worth upgrading to MK2 if I wanna root again or should I just keep MK2. I have the geeksquad warrenty from bestbuy so it shouldn't matter if it trips the knox flag because I give them rooted phones all the time.

I wouldn't update to the knox bootloader (take the OTA or flash the full .tar) but that's me, for now.
Since you're on the earlier bootloader you can still update to any number of ROMs that have the knox bootloader removed.
Also I would definitely update the modem firmware - Unknownforce has a thread for that here.
Spend some time and read and you'll find loads of stuff you can do.
Good luck.

If you truly are on MDC and did not trip the knox bootloader you can Odin back to stock MDC. That will wipe the phone completely, giving you an all MDC phone - bootloader, recovery (stock), kernel, modem and ROM.
But I would just jump to MF9. It was the last official without the Knox bootloader. You can grab that here.
This is the FULL system tar. All stock, kernel, recovery, ROM Modem.
Extract the .tar.md5 and place that in the PDA slot and that's it. Make sure you don't check 'repartition'!.
Then use CF-Autoroot to root and again be careful NOT to check anything like repartition etc.
Once rooted you can then open up supersu, update the binaries. Go to playstore and download GooManager. User that to install custom recovery and then you can flash away.
I do suggest you spend some time here reading a whole bunch. You'll learn a lot about these methods and how and what you can do.
Good luck.

Ok I have upgraded to MF9 now should I use Unkown Forces links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919 to upgrade the firmware and modem?
And when I try to root with CF auto root on MF9 it fails on complete write operation failed.
Strike that its all good
If you're on MF9 full rooted you can update your firmware/modem following Unknownforce's instructions.
HOWEVER PLEASE take heed about the MJA(MK2 too) Notes: ...
some people report better success with turning Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time unchecked. Do the same flash, but when you see PASS on Odin, unplug the phone and Hold the Power key for 10 seconds to reboot.

And read through the whole post not just the OP. Some people had to flash it a few times to get it to show up (in system info) properly - mainly because they didn't follow directions precisely and skipped the note part on MJA/MK2.
Since you're now on MF9 fully rooted (stock) you can install yourself a custom recovery (Philz or TWRP - the latest Philz;philz_touch_6.08.9-jfltespr, seems to be the most reliable for now) and flash some ROMs. Virtually all of the 4.3/4.4 ROMs require the MK2 modem so know that too.
One thing I would highly recommend is to spend some time reading through the sections to get a clearer understanding of how this device behaves vs others (HTC, Moto etc.). Every device has it's peculiarities and caveats and not paying attention to them could ruin you day.

People need to know the difference between soft bricked and hard bricked. Most say bricked and they mean soft. Hard is nearly impossible to get the phone back up and running. I have that same problem when I try to install a kernel. You need to reflash a ROM.

Were you already on NAE from the OTA before you installed Sacs rom?? If you were, then you can't go back to NAE stock until we have a full tar file for NAE. You can try to install one of the Stock NAE roms in the development section, but until we have the full tar file for NAE you can't odin back to stock, If you weren't already on the NAE OTA, and still have the MK2 bootloader, then odin the full MK2 tar and apply the NAE OTA.
Here is a good place to download MK2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601443
Remember, if you already are on NAE, you cannot odin older tar files so you have to wait until the full NAE tar is available.

Sacs 4.4.2
Hi all,
Noobie here,
So I couldn't wait either- a junkie per say for a half a dozen Roms but find Sacs Rom to be most impressed with. As Sacs pointed out in the step by steps instructions- when quite successful, as others have pointed out with the camera issue which is a very small and all most not relevant at this time, with wifi I had no issues at all- did run across a small blurb about android.- something was crashing---- But I'm still enjoying it- don't plan to fall back- I am noticing the battery drains a little faster on use- did fix the toggle battery size through 3mint- awesome... Now I'm just waiting on to mods/themes as previous Sacs roms- I've tried loading the pervious versions but found it crashed the Samsung keyboard- so I reflashed 4.4.2------ Thanks for being ahead on this Sacs- great work...
Hello.First post here.
I currently have been using CM11 for a few months now but miss some features on stock. (multiwindow, air view) so I installed Sacs ROM.
Everything was working great today except a known problem is wifi will not work due to radio opbstructions (i believe). So i attempted to change the baseband to MF9.
At first, Odin started then immidately it failed. The error read 'Fused 4 Binary 1'
So i assumed it was a connection error. I loaded back into download mode and tried again. Failed.
At this point i thought screw it, and took the battery out. tried to reboot and stuck at the soft brick "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
I installed Kies. Plugged in my phone. Drivers installed but Kies will not connect. Try to do 'Firmware Upgrade and Initialization'
However Kies will NOT accpet my S/N number. i tried everything. writing it all out or with a space every 3 numbers or with 'DEC' at the front. nothing worked.
I even called sprint to double check S/N (ESN/DEC)
so basically I'm soft bricked and Kies is screwing me over. Any ideas?

i searched around and eventually found a working .md5 file. its apparently is stock. got my phone to start booting but it got stuck at the yellow sprint screen. im going to try to boot into safe mode. any ideas how to access my recovery file? i have one form CWM and one from Ti Backup
which tar did you flash through Odin? MF9, MK2 or NAE?
IF you were on MF9 and flashed the full MF9 tar you can try and flash again. Just power off phone completely, go to download mode, attach and run Odin. (same for MK2 or NAE) BUT if you tried flashing MJA/MK2 or NAE you cannot go back to MF9. Things you should have read about already.
If it hangs on boot after flashing, power off completely, boot to stock recovery and do a factory reset and then let it restart first reboot can take 5 to 10 earth minutes.
You can then root via CF-Autoroot or Saferoot, install goomanager to grab a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) OR Odin said recoveries (Philz, TWRP etc.)

I think i fixed it.
Problems resolved.
The issue was i had Sacs v4 which didnt support wifi and i read that it needed MF9 firmware.
i had a lapse in judgement and without thinking tried to go back from MJA. didnt catch it until now.
I eventually found the correct stock file. eventually got into the phone. rerooted and in the process of install the proper sacs ROM (v5.6)
this was a simple error that i shouldve caught thanks guys!
hopefully this ROM will work with wifi...
BTW, all my backups were wiped
Your backups weren't on your external sd? Ooo, that sucks. Glad you got it.

For some reason when I try to flash anything with safestrap it fails everytime, just shows updating partitions and then a red failed.
When I try with flashfire I can not see zips on my SD or internal. Everyone says it should work fine. It doesnt. I did repatriation with pit when going to ncg. I try flashing the stock rooted OA8 and it fails. Any help is super appreciated. I did not have trouble when I first got the phone and rooted but I started at OA8 and went to ncg.

I have done this 3 times now thinking that I had a bad flash or something. Still I am not able to flash any roms with safestrap. I get failed EVERYTIME! This is with multiple downloads so I know they are not bad downloads. I have also tried using flashfire. I am wondering if I should odin and flash up then back to ncg since the newer ones repartition differently?

This is with multiple downloads so I know they are not bad downloads. I have also tried using flashfire. I am wondering if I should odin and flash up then back to ncg since the newer ones repartition differently?

Seems like that pit file messed things up. I've always stayed away from it. I'm guessing you used it with Beantowns full NGC tar. Maybe you should try it again. You could use Misterxtcs this time. Other than that you could try connecting a thumb drive directly to your phone and see if Flashfire can see zips on it. Won't fix anything but it might get you on Moar. I know you've tried a lot of times and this is getting old. I've also heard of people trying different versions of Odin in trying to find one that works for their specific problem.
You could also try connecting to kies to see if their emergency recovery might help.
Edit: everything I read says to leave that pit file alone unless you are bricked. Your idea of flashing a firmware from higher up sounds like a good plan. Maybe OC4.
SOLVED! I bought a crappy SD from geek.Com 128gb put a 4 gb in and I was able to see zips and flash fine with flashfire.
Running themed MOAR and loving it. Thanks guys.
