I figured I would post this for anyone who may run into this issue, I've never had this happen before until this morning. I wanted to completely wipe my phone by going back to MJE, rooting and then install 4.4.2 but I was unable to enter download mode for some reason (volume down, home and power) and the phone would just boot up normally. I ended up booting into the stock recovery (volume up, home and power) and doing a factory reset. After powering the device off I was then able to get into download mode again.

Is this normal?
I am quite noobish at this, so I'm not entirely sure.
I can get into fastboot if I hold vol- and power.
edit: if i try to go into recovery mode, it just reboots
edit 2: it only happens while it is plugged in, so this is now "why isn't recovery mode working?" thread
edit 3: i got it to work by flashing original, then back to clockwork
My (original) Nexus 7 was running normally but I wanted to clear the cache partition to regain a bit of speed. I booted into recovery mode, but when I tried pressing power + volume-up (to bring up the menu of recovery actions) the screen went black. Since then I haven't been able to turn the machine on or boot it at all (either normally or into recovery mode). How can I get it working again?
The only thread I could find similar to my issue was a gentlemen a few months ago not being able to recover from his boot loop.
I'm in a similar boat but after flashing cf auto root in Odin my poor tab is stuck in a boot loop and won't load past the US Cellular screen when booting up. I am able to get into stock recovery, but I am unable to enter download mode to flash the stock ROM. This is where my situation is different and I am searching for some help on the best way to get the stock rom working again.
Is there anything I can do to force my tablet into download mode? I hold the correct buttons but it tries to boot right up instead of entering download mode.
I greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide and thanks for reading!
In recovery mode do a factory reset and wipe dalvik and cache. For download mode, are you holding home, vol-, power, together in that order?
I did a factory reset and cleared cache but I don't think I cleared the dalvik so I'll try that as soon as I get home.
As far as getting to download mode, I am pressing the correct combination and after about 10 seconds the device tries to boot normally and if I'm quick enough I can get into recovery by switching to the volume+ button

After getting home and mashing the hell out of the buttons i got into download mode and am running stock again. If you don't mind me asking, what is the best way to root my model running lollipop 5.1?
I flashed a wrong file in twrp and my phone went into a bootloop. I want to boot into recovery to reflash the ROM but I can't do it, the phone is stuck into a continuous bootloop (stuck at the Samsung logo and vibrating over and over again). I can boot into download mode using vol down + power + home, but vol up for recovery isn't working.

1. Boot in DOWNLOAD MODE and flash the correct TWRP via ODIN again. Done.
2. If the step 1 doesn't work. Boot in DOWNLOAD MODE, reflash STOCK rom and reflash the TWRP, the one good for your device. Done.

Secret mode wasn't working in the Samsung browser so I flashed a zip that I found on xda that supposedly fixes this issue and cleared the cache and dalvik cache. I don't see how this could have erased twrp from my device. I currently don't have acces to a computer so I can't use Odin, is there really no way to force shutdown it or something?

Enter download mode, once you are in download mode press at the same time power + home + volume down button. As soon as the screen goes black release the volume down button and press the volume up button immediately, then it will boot up to TWRP

Hi. I seem to be having alot of problems trying to get my S5 to work again. The phone is stuck in a boot loop and won't go into recovery mode or download mode. When I press volume down + home and power button i can get to the warning message asking to press up to go to download mode. Pressing volume up does nothing
I have bought a download mode jig that forced it to download mode and in successfully flashed a stock ROM using Odin. After flashing the phone reboots and hangs on booting recovery mode. Have tried many different versions of stock ROM and it still doesn't boot up. I even flashed a custom recovery and it won't boot to recovery
I have managed to fix alot of phones over the years that have software problems but this has really got me stumped.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
