my suggestions?
flash a stock ROM, and do a clean up (factory reset & clear cache) from stock recovery. This is the simple way.
my guess (if I'm wrong, correct me), you come back from CM/AOSP to TW, and it start to be like this.

Well im not sure if I had rooted it properly but I did all that I downloaded the stock hk rom to try see if thag will get it from booting in recover I know thats the easy fix. My big issue are all the other problems I had before I even tried to root the phone

stock HK firmware ?
Is your device is N9005 HK/Taiwan version ?
if not, you can't just use the HK/Taiwan firmware onto your N9005.

Its the sm-n9005 the international model

if yours is the international model of 32GB N9005, it is strongly suggested not to flash HK/Taiwan firmware.
This 2 firmware is basically only for HK/TW N9005, which is earlier was came in 16GB. Means the partition is different from the 32GB.
after that, they come up with 32GB, but... I might be wrong (correct me if I do), I read somewhere the partitioning also different.
So, Why don't u flash other international firmware ?
Have you tried other than HK/Taiwan firmware ?

I believe so as well. Regardless either 16 or 32gb HK fw doesn't play well with other regions n9005

Well what region do you suggest I flash on it?

I haven't has yet. I downloaded a UK rom thats about it I dont know what else to try

UK rom should be fine

Ok so do you have any other idea how to fix the other issues I described because flashing a new rom wont slove it.

If you haven't flash stock rom then just flash it first to see if the issue persists. Factory reset and wipe cache from stock recovery after done odin flashing.
If issues persist, root you phone again, install custom recovery sych as TWRP, use DrKetan's imei backup tool here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698639,
make a nandroid backup if your current rom, wipe system/data/cache(don't wipe internal or external storage if you save your nandroid backup and imei backup in any of them else you will lost it. You will never know when they would be handy if you lost your imei in any way). Then flash again stock with odin.
My friend's note3 has terrible lag after upgrade to KitKat. It took a few minutes after reboot just to get unlocked so I helped him to reflash using odin but after 3 different firmwares flashed still not get resolved. I did the same. No more issue after that.

Need to send phone in and need help before i do..

Hey Guys,
I need to send my phone in to Rogers in Canada since my texts don't work for no reason even though I haven't switched ROMS in a long time so i don't know why it hasnt been working but my question is..other than flashing stock firmware is there anything else I need to do before I send it in? if so, what and how?
Thanks in advance!
Yes. Before unrooting you should clear your binary using the Triangle Away app. Since this seems like a software issue they may check. Also make sure to unroot it and not just flash the stock ROM like any other ROM

thanks! hmm now to find out how do to all of the following steps...lol
Well in simpler terms, first download the app triangle away, and clear your binary (I think it works with the S4, check on that again so nothing goes wrong.) Then just backup anything if you need to. Also before unrooting via ODIN, you might want to do a factory reset and all that stuff in your custom recovery prior to your unroot. I think there should be plenty of tutorials on YouTube to help you through this have fun

Make a backup of everything with Titanium Backup. I'd also make a nandriod so when they give you your new phone you can go back to where you were easily

Samsung keyboard on stock kitkat not working?

If I flash stock kitkat my Samsung keyboard won't work (force closes over and over).. I've no problems with any custom roms, on sweetrom now with no problem.. It's not a massive issue but it's annoying me! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix it?
P. S- installing SwiftKey etc isn't fixing it..

You may need to do a full wipe when you flash stock, it's possible something has corrupted somewhere along the line.
Yeah I've tried all the usual tricks, re - downloaded stock from several places with no luck.. It's baffling me..

..
Format all your data in system via CWM - then reinstall your ROM from scratch, it'll fix any coruption issues. ->>> Important >>> Make sure you make/get a PIT file for your device before you change anything in case you need to sort your partitions out for a reflash
I'll give it a try thank_you...
Nope still got the same problem.. Must be some weird conflict with my phone that I can't pin down.. Like I say I'm on a custom rom anyway but it irritates me because I know it's still there...

How bizarre , I'd stick with the custom ROM for now just in case something else gets crazy corrupted - This Kitkat stuff atm is causing havoc all around.
Yeah I think you're right, maybe different batches of phones and buggy kitkat are causing problems for a few of us? It'll all get ironed out in the end hopefully..

I got the same problem. KitKat update failed in the end and had to CF_Root in order to boot up.
Action Memo (with pen) are not working for me as well. It is all linked with Handwiting somehow.
Is your Action Memo broken also ?
The only thing that I didn't do is Wipe Data/Factory Reset in Recovery mode.
Did you try that ?

got the same problem as yours, no idea why though, after the update samsung keyboard and action memo stopped working.
I think I will wipe it tomorrow but it seems it's not working either
I'm checking around and they say that problem probably lies in the application S Pen Keep, there is no data on this one ... I guess as you said it's linked to the handwriting recognition. tried to do that using Snote transform into text as well and it immediately stopped working as well..
For time being I'm using different keyboard and I like it better than stock one. I really don't want to wipe a phone. Takes so much time to install everything back.

Did u guys intentionally or unintentionally uninstalled Samsung apps? From what I've understand, certain Samsung apps needs to be either freeze thru TB or disable it...
Haven't touched it. I've upgraded to KitKat without updating a bootloader and it happened.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
same here, got the OTA update, after that it simply stopped working.. I don't need the keyboard .. I need the action memo more
Mine still isn't working, I'm on omega rom now so it doesn't affect me, but it still does it if I flash stock... Strange..
try to download another stock rom? maybe that will fix it.. if it did .. let us know... try to download the newest one that came up in Poland..
mine got fixed by formatting and wiping, re-download another stock rom I guess yours has some form of data missing ..
@Colide , just go back to factory settings , will resolve the issue, do it from the recovery of course.
I kinda hate it to wipe data. Lot of apps to reinstall. Thanks for a tip. ?

No kitkat update

Can anyone help me upgrade to kitkat because when I tried to go to software update it tells me that my current version is the latest one which is 4.3. I rooted my phone and I guess its 0x1
If you've rooted you probably won't get OTA updates. You'll have to manually flash via Odin, there's plenty of info around to help you get going

i see. btw is it okay if i use other countries stock firmware for 4.4?
Well other countries and carrier firmware have had issues flashing on some devices, I'd recommend XEO which is the Polish version, most people are using it. But you need to definitely read, because if you have a HK Note or an NEE note flashing KK Can cause massive headaches.
Ask yourself, do you need the upgrade right now? My advice is have a good think.. There are some minor bugs with EXT SD Card, some random reboots and freezes and third party accessories not working properly. I'd wait for an incremental update that fixes any issues if I was you. Unless you wanna install a custom ROM.

loss vibrat in i9500

Hello every one ...I got new problem in my new phone s4 i9500 ..suddenly loss vibrat touch during using the phone in custom rom ...I flash sokp at first custom rom and got that issue then flash hassan rom based on stock at first flash the issue present but flash it again and then work after that flashed aicp rom and after some days today the vibrat gone even in recovery mode ...what can be the problem ? My phone still new 1month ago ..can it be from kernal philiz ?? Thanks for any suggestion
any suggestion or throw my phone from window ......software or hardware problem ?????
Hi Ammar,
I think your problem is in software. If I were you, I install cwm or twrp recovery, do all wipes including system, preload and internal memory, then flash the latest official firmware with Odin. If problem stands still, I do all wipes agaün and install the latest official firmware again. Even if this is does not work then I decide the problem is hardware based.

Well I cant comment on what went wrong.
I was on slim rom once and my vibration Intensity was tooo too low. Because of that was missing calls.
Or you can download an app for checking vibration. Once my proximity sensor and speaker stopped working, i ran a test and everything was back to normal.
Try test you android from the playstore and see if that test works.
Well here is the app
But again as I said, let us know if this is happening on the stock rom.

Once my Wi-Fi stopped working on a Cyanogenmod based rom. I flased stock firmware many times but it didn't work. Then I installed cwm recovery and do all wipes then it worked. As you understand, such wierd things might happen sometimes that we couldn't understand.
i sent my phone to company and told me that vibrate engine is broken and they change it and now work good but what is the problem that caused this i dont know exactly ...as they said either by drop the phone or by water but non of these happend with my new phone
thanks guys for help

[Q] Samsung S4 i9500, freezes and reboots after a while of use

hi, a friend of mine, here in El Salvador, had this s4 i9500, but for some reason an employee from TIGO company offered him to flash it with kitkat, the phone has no use, we downgraded the thing, no go, with three different version, Guatemala, Panama and Colombia, no go!!!!, if you use WIFI or 3G or simply opened an app. freezes and reboot, even we tried flashing it with cyanogenmod cm11, i dont know what else to do, the thing is useless, somebody told me that "KNOW" was related with this, because the previous JB stock rom had root and then tried with KITKAT stock rom with no root, i dont know about that, please help us
any help will be much appreciated
best regards
Did you flash again with a JB custom ROM? It might work, then wipe data/clear cache partition

I think you might have a problem with the cpu...you bought the phone on second hand? Maybe someone forced it in overclocking mode. I recommend you to send the phone to an authorized service, but if you say you tryed everything, the motherboard is the problem..

I agree, but samsung would say that the warranty is voided, other friend of mine thinks that this is related some knox partition, there has to be a solution for this
