Tried app...
Tablet is rooted...
Question: How come there is no SuperSU -=or=- Super User app on phone?
Root works fine (adfree, droidwall fully functional) so it doesn't look like SU etc. are needed. Is this the case?
Will root be maintained if towelroot is uninstalled?

It only gives you permission to write to /system to handle this you have to download supersu or superuser app from play store by yourself
You can find all the support you need in the loooooong xda thread about towelroot, use the search button because they probably already answered your questions

Just FYI, tried downloading the towelroot file and it got hit by my virus scan as Artemis! Trojan. Maybe that's expected, but just wanted to let anyone know.
Not supported on vk810 with lollipop
Are there any plans to support vk810?
Towelroot exploits an unpatched bug in older devices. Either it works or not. If it's patched (newer KK or Lollipop), it won't work.
There's no need to add support for certain devices.

I rooted my Verizon variant with this method and all seems to work ok, had to run it twice however. Installed duel recovery after and making a backup now. All seems to work ok so far. Only thing I've mainly tried is root explorer and it gained SU rights and tested renaming an apk in the system files and worked fine.

Most antivirus does that - you'll have to disable the antivirus temporarily to use the exploit.
This morning I received OTA updated for my D855 16GB. Before I proceed the update I uninstall all root application (I am already rooted via towelroot) G3 tweakbox, greenify, trickster, etc.
I have updated my D855 just now now software version says v10e-ESA-XX. After the update I can't no longer root via towelroot, it says "this phone isn't currently supported". The OTA says "Power Enhancement", maybe it will affect battery life or so.
Kinda suck anyway, I can't root my device with this ota update, but I still can revert to previous version with LG flash tool and kdz fle but still looking forward to how this will affect my device.

The fact that you can't use a different SU app strikes me as very strange. AVG mobile flagged the installer app as suspicious as well.

I just mention this in post above:
http://zidroid.com/how-to-get-ride-and-replace-kinguser-with-supersu-app/
U dont need supersu app. Its same thing as kinguser. U get su access anyway. U can delete app which is with chinese name or keep it. This app manages autostart installed apps and running processes. Or u can use any other app 4 that. As 4 antivirus is false positive. Mcafee has reportet it once als threat but on second install didnt report anything.
Happy rooting
Didn't work on my D852 and V20f. I had to use the manual method in the download mode.
I know I protested, but decided to play around today. Updated my phone (f460k) to 20j and tried king root. After about 20 tries it stuck. Converted to supersu and everything is running smooth
Confirmed... This works on the latest D855 V20i (TWN) model phones though it took me 3 tries to get it going. If it fails, just try again but make sure you phone is connected to the internet.
I then used this link to replace with SuperSU http://zidroid.com/how-to-get-ride-and-replace-kinguser-with-supersu-app/ and then the 'autorec' app to install TWRP. Worked fine...
By using this new king root apk you can easily get root
Tested on my g3.
But it also temporary.
But you can try, see what happen. First 2 or 3 times after reboot root was working but then scenario is the same root lost.

I wouldn`t be so sure. I followed the steps and it didn't work. My bootloader is locked, as it was on LP. Some people say we need to downgrade, unlock bootloader, flash MM again and root, but I'm not in the mood to do it now. Some users on that thread say tethered TWRP should work on locked bootloaders, but it's not working on my phone, and I'm not the only one who reported the same.

Thamks for the info. I didn't want to unlock the bootloader, but maybe it's the only way. I'll test it when I get home from work.
Regarding your issue with xposed, if you flashed twrp or can at least enter fastboot mode and issue a "fastboot boot twrp.img" command to boot into twrp, there's a xposed uninstaller zip you can flash to recover from the bootloop. I've had to use it before on other phones and it always worked like a charm.
MM Root + xposed ok on Z008
Hi Guys,
I have a Z008 and did the official upgrade to MM yesterday.
But before doing the upgrade, I unlocked my booloader while in LP (using the official Asus apk)
After the upgrade I got rooted + xposed using the same procedure than for beta MM (shakalaca method):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/android-6-0-beta-root-xposed-downgrade-t3404321
For those who want to downgrade safely to LP, Asus provides a downgrade image on its support page, and Z00A as well (didn't try):
https://www.asus.com/fr/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE550ML/HelpDesk_Download/
Hope it will help
