LG G2 vs Nexus 5 vs Galaxy S3? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello i know there are many topics made on this question, but i want to ask you guys whitch one would suit my needs the best:
I am still considering S3 because i like how it looks, dual screen, cases and because it is the cheapest option.
I am considering nexus 5 because of custom roms (i LOVE to theme! I am not really intrested in tech stuff, just in themes and fun tweaks, i would be completely happy with cm11 or something like p.a.).
LG G2 because of camera, better battery life, like how it looks.
I need a phone that would make listening to music experience the best, a good camera and sharp screen.
I am not a gamer.
So, if you were me, whitch phone you'd choose?

Personally for me camera differences don't mean a lot... It just comes down to battery ... That's why I love the G2 it has amazing battery (significantly better than N5)
Nexus 5 I would choose if you were a hardcore flashaholic...
S3 I wouldn't even suggest that option as its 2 gens older than the hardware you are comparing it to ... As an alternative I would suggest HTC One which should be around as cheap as that

Well dual window is also possible on the G2 if you flash a custom Rom! I think the g2 is the proper choice for you

you are searching for the answer in g2 forum. of course the answer will be g2.
I just want to give advice, stay away from nexus5, for me it is a worst phone I've had.
G2 is a beast comparing to n5, and you have enough roms to flash dont be afraid, mahdi rom which is pure aosp with best audio drivers... my advice.
But if you preffer cheapest option, the s3 is actualy good phone, why not, for me camera is better than on g2 low light scenes on g2 and n5 are crap you can keep that in mind

first battery which is so miserable, poor signal reception and everyone was complaining on my voice call quality. This was enough beacuse I need my phone all day and I do a lot of phone calls. And realy I didnt ask to much.
These two problems was not solved with any custom rom or tweak or anything, stock, custom, hard reseting nothing. And I was not alone with same problem.
other thing which made it crap is cheap plastic look, ****y speaker, poor camera (not that g2 have a so much better speaker and camera but it is a better a little)
better screen on g2, extremely thin bezel, and g2 look like a premium device compared to n5 and in my country they cost the same. So n5 for me is a crap
I had note1 and note2 before and can say that these are good devices, with very good camera, screen, speakers, and battery. I guess the s3 is pretty much the same. I left samsung because I wanted something else and that was the only reason...
hope it can help

Bump

S3 is outdated due to its So Exynos, and S4 krait in the US version. Samsung phones also suffer from the random IMEI loss when rooting and flashing, you can search this to see what I'm referring to. Also the build quality of the S3 is not as nice as the other two, which ia why I don't buy Sammy anymore. Also the G2 would have the best battery out of the 3 devices.
A Nexus 5 is a G2 but a "lesser" version, its battery is smaller & the screen is also smaller.
Sent from my LG-D802

The choice was easy for me.
I love holding the G2 in my hand and looking at its bazel(less) size and screen ratio. 1st of all the battery. I used my phone for the gym daily playing videos and streaming pandora to and from work, and it gets me two days worth before a charge and I still have some juice left to spare.
The only negative is the lack of SD card, yes I have unlimited data, but at my gym its a deadzone for t-mobile for some reason, so then I'm force to put contents in my phone, but those 1080p videos really eat up space.
Cannot wait for the G4 LOL

[Q] Should I buy?

So, some people have been able to get amazing battery life out of the G2, but others have had fairly major heat buildup and short battery life issues. I have also seen some posts about lag issues.
I'm deciding between this phone and the HTC One, which I have heard also has battery issues. I currently have an HTC One X+, and the battery, lag, and heat buildup are unbelievably bad, so I'm cautious about getting another HTC device.
What I want to know is, are most people having good experiences with the battery/heat buildup of the G2? Have you experienced consistent lag? Thanks for your responses.
I have experienced excellent battery life 1+ day usage. I've never had the phone heat up at all... Slight warmth, possibly just from my hand...
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I haven't experienced any of the issues you mention. The plastic case squeaks a little, but this is to be expected...the s3 and s4 both do/did it. It's literally the only drawback I've noticed. I just ordered a case, so hopefully that'll muffle the sound and it'll be perfect. ☺

I've had the HTC One and the battery life stinks. That's the only reason I got rid of it. I'm thinking of getting this phone tomorrow. Either this g2 or Moto X. I've been browsing both forums.

I just sold my HTC One to get my G2. The One's battery life sucks! The only things the One has over the G2 are: 1. higher PPI screen (worthless since both have pixels so tiny you wont even notice the difference. 2. Front facing stereo speakers. My G2 makes it through the day easily with over 50% remaining by the time I go to sleep. It gets a little warm, but only when playing games...and no warmer than my One got when playing games.
hmm i was also thinking about getting the lg g2. I current have the att htc one x, which is nice and all but i think its time for an upgrade. Im going through the insurance though and theyre sending me out a galaxy s4. Has anyone used both devices, the s4 and the g2? Obviously the g2 is a step up but how does it translate to real world usage? Would love to hear you opinions on both. If worth it ill just sell my galaxy s4 and buy the g2.

Mine was more of a stutter then lag as smooth as TW Roms could make it and got annoying after a while
Playing around with the phone for the past few hours, I am quite impressed on how smooth it is for me.. its like a better TW (might be insulting to the G2 )
I'm in the same boat and considering the g2 or the g pro. Im liking the phablet because I watch a lot of video on my current phone so the real estate is nice. At $99 with a new contract its a steal and I'm due for an upgrade. But I'm also digging the hardware of the g2. Bern lurking between the 2 forums trying to make a decision, but I'm heavily leaning towards the g2.
Lg G2 > gs4 > htc one
I've used them all, and by far the Lg wins. Especially if youre worried about lag and battery life. Screen is also better than the other ones. Cant wait for devs to start posting cleaner roms

In ear? Or the ear speaker? The ear speaker sounds great, the "in ear" speaker probably depends on the headphones.

Like many others, I have the One as well. I also own the S4, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt "the G2 is hands down my favorite".
I do however think that my S4 gets as good of battery life as my G2 though. I just don't like the lag my S4 gets when I load it up with apps.
This is probably not important to you, but the S4 and the G2 sync with my Fitbit flex via LE Bluetooth and the One does not. ?

DO NOT... I'm sorry let me say that again. DO NOT. Again. NOT. GET THE S4 hands down worst device I have ever owned. Everything negative Previously said is 100% true and I know this because I suffered from ****4 as well. It's horrible. It's terrible. It's bad. It's just down right horriterribad. Please bro. Don't do it. Save yourself from the samsung rapefest.
Note: it took me 5-10 minutes each time to get from my lock screen to pattern unlock to main screen.

Thanks for the quick response. That helped a lot. How's the Bluetooth connection on here? I use the Plantronics Voyager Legend with my iPhone for work and my Motorola Atrix HD. The connection and range are excellent on both phones however it's not as good on the HTC one.
wait and see what happens with the nexus 5 in like 2-3 weeks. nexus 4 is my favorite phone ive used (name a phone ive owned it) the only thing its missing is LTE sweet battery life and an awesome camera, all of which the G2 has but you get the best experience with a stock google phone more devs on it and CM11 or whatever it will be is gonna be sweet on it

I'm hoping that the LG Nexus 5 (stock android, either 4.3 or 4.4) will be coming to the G2 shortly after the N5 is released, and when/if its ported to Verizon, it will make the G2 one heck of a device.
cant complain bout battery life or heat
just basic browsin and crap i can go 24hrs and still have juice left over with 50% brightness
playin gta3 and streamin netflix with %50 brightness maybe 7-8hrs

Lg g2, nexus 5, htc one, xperia z1

I know every single detail about these phones, their advantages over each other their key selling points and everything else concerning these smartphones but I need to hear the answer from you guys who actually owned the g2 and if u tried any of the other smartphones, so is the g2 the best of them or not ?
I think it is screen is 2nd best to htc one, camera is outstanding but z1 is better, best processor, software wise: the user can control what to turn on and what to turn off and I like some of the features lg updated its software with, my biggest question: is the g2 one lf the smoothest smartphones ever even after downloading many apps and putting a lot of widgets or not? Even after some time does it stay as smooth as out of the box?

I honestly do not believe that the HTC One has the best screen. I would put it on par with the G2, with the One X being the best. The Z1 has a terrible screen; how does it have a better processor? It's the same SoC. Yes the G2 is one of the, if not the smoothest phone ever. No phone stays like that for a long time, so your best bet is to get 4.3 via CM or root and install LagFix.
I don't understand why you think that Sony UI is good. It's terrible, ugly and laggy (I've used the Xperia Z and quite frankly, it never lives up to the APQ8064 it sports. It feels like a dual-core Snapdragon S3). YOu can customize a lot of stuff with LG UI.

I've had the G2 since release day, and it's still as smooth and responsive now as when I got it. It really is a great phone.
If you like to flash roms and have the latest updates, you cant beat the htc one, i use to have it and theres so much happening in terms of development. Plus you getvto have the bestbof both worlds sense UI and google edition roms. The only thing that i didnt like much the one is the battery life, im aheavy user and it didnt last me all day.
The g2 on other hand is an excellent choice for people that do alot of browsing and gaming.
The z1 i cant say much about.since i ve never used.

I have owned the HTC One and currently own the G2 and Z1... My take on this:
HTC One: Awesome speakers and support. But I do think the G2 screen is on par, and given the size even wins in this aspect (but thats a matter of preference). Speakers are unbeatably though. 32GB size is nice as well.
G2: Great screen and build, best battery and connection strength (wifi, data). Camera is very good (I often like the post processing better then the Z1) but struggles when the light gets less optimal. If camera was better it was a no brainer. No fan of the LG software (although it has some nice tricks) and 16GB is on the low side.
Z1: Camera with lots of potential, but white balance is off and post-processing isn';t there yet. Can't decide which is the better one G2 or Z1. The phone is big though, sony not fixing the camera-breaking-with-unlocked-bootloader sucks. Points for the micro-sd slot as well. Screen is very mediocre, especially compared with HTC One and G2, but perhaps not that bad when you have no comparisons. Software is nice as well.
Keeping both the Z1 and G2 for now, using the G2 as main phone (because screen, connection strength and pocketability) but it's really a coinflip between Z1 and G2 for now. If the G2 camera was better I'd toss the Z1 sooner...
Thanks all you helped me so much by confirming some of my info. And I never said I like sony ui I just said z1 camera is on of the best out there I hate sony UI btw and the size of that phone is huge !
So I guess it's the g2 all the way
Thx all

It really depends what matters the most to you. I have previously owned Z1, HTC ONE and currently have G2.
Nexus 5 is just a lower end version of g2 ( KINDA) .. with stock android. I would never go with 2300 mah battery over G2's 3000 mah.
Z1... DONT buy the phone... the size and screen will depress you. It is a scratch and fingerprint magnet. Camera is a under performer with so many issues.
Htc one ... Probably one of the best phones i ever owned ... if you dont really want top of the range processor and lower battery life + a mediocre camera then go for it... you will love it
In my opinion you cant say its the best phone because no phone is the best there will always be better and better. So the G2 is a realy good phone the screeen is amazing, latest SOC on the market, very good camera(in my opinion beter than z1,i made some amazing photos with it),the battery is good and you can get up to 2 days with mixed usage, its very stylish and confortable in hand and for audiophiles a very good audio output, the bad well the construction is not so good i mean the back cover that isnt user removable squeaks on presuure and i have an air pocket on the botom right of the volume buttons and its very anoying but hey its a smartphone not a brick, the rest is spot on so far.
PS:i find the LG UI better than samsungs touch wiz, stock android UI and sonys UI.
i still use it prefer it ower nova launcher because its the most smoth launcher i met
PS 2:about the squeaky back cover can someone confirm it i had this issue from day 1
Previously owned HTC one, yes, the screen is a little bit better than g2.
It is more crisp and sharp, not noticeable on pictures, but quite visible on fonts.
But camera is terrible, you know, most of them got an ultra purple tint. No regret to switch to g2 for better battery life and camera.

Forgive me if im wrong but dont you have amazon? they sell them on amazon and they should work fine for international G2's

Shall I get a G2?

Well, my contract's up in a few days and my Mako is already earmarked for a new home (a friend who had her S4 stolen only a couple of weeks after getting it and is currently stuck using an HTC Desire running stock 2.2) and that means it's decision time (again.)
I'm fairly settled on a G2 (hence my post here) but I just wanted to see if anybody has any specific advice for/against. It seems like a bad time to be buying a new phone, with a round of new releases having just come up. However, I have zero interest in the S5 (I hate Samsung, although mainly for inflicting Exynos and its buggy drivers/kernels on the world, plus I ideally want a camera with OIS) and I'm very dubious of the Z2, knowing several people with badly scratched/broken Xperia Zs, and the G3 isn't due for a few months yet...
So between the Nexus 5 and the G2, I can't really see any downside in going for the latter. As much as I love my Nexus 4, and I prefer the design of the Nexus 5 to the G2, the effective cost to me is the same so I may as well have the bigger battery and better camera? I might lose fancy LG camera features by running AOSP/CM on it, but I'd be no better off with an N5 in that regard, anyway?
The new HTC one may be worth considering too.

It's a possibility. I have been very fond of HTC devices in the past, so I'll forgive them for the POS that was the One X. However, I wouldn't buy one until I knew that S-Off was a certainty after that experience (although that appears to be a given on Qualcomm devices.) From what I've seen so far, the M8 is going to be another phone with a large physical outline, a huge bezel and a small-ish screen. For that reason, the current One really never appealed to me, especially when you put one alongside the G2 and realise it's almost the same size but with a notably smaller screen...

Haha. Well, at least it's not on the back. Of a completely flat-backed phone :silly: That and the camera are really the only thorns in the Nexus 4's side as far as I'm concerned
Actually, it'll be quite strange adapting to the normality of laying my phone on its back, rather than its front when placing it on a flat surface, as you have to with the Nexus 4 if you want to hear it ringing!
I would go with a nexus 5 its basicaly a fully unlocked g2 some people report bad battery life with the nexus 5 but flash a different ROM and it should have better battery life the g2 has good battery life but its stock software is a joke and not only that no recovery for the kk update maybe no root as well but nexus 5 is as easy to root as as it is to turn the phone on

If I was going to keep it stock, I'd get a Nexus 5 no questions (but who here does that?!) But with both running CM/AOSP-derrived ROMs, I can't really see much downside to the G2 aside from the glossy plastic? As I understand it, there is a hack to install TWRP on the G2, and then I'm free as I would be on a 'real' Nexus.
Of course I'm a little bit worried about losing some functionality (e.g. the multi-shot night mode on the camera) but it's not like I'd get any of that with a Nexus 5 anyway...

I think that probably depends on your definition of crap. I've had over 5 hours of screen-on time out of my Nexus 4 and I never felt it's battery was inadequate (in fact, it's the best smartphone I've owned yet in that regard) and everything I've seen suggests the Nexus 5 manages the same or better. The appeal of the G2 for me comes from its extra battery capacity
I have both the N5 and G2 and I must say while the N5 looks pretty, the G2 does everything else better.
I'm talking battery life ,cool little features (if you like those) and the back buttons are actually awesome.
One thing about the N5 is it is a gamble when you get one. The screen may have very yellowish tint and the vibration motors suck really bad.
Imagine two swords making clashing sounds in a movie. That's how my Red 32GB N5 sounds. So I gave it to my wife...

Have to admit LG have gone beyond to make it so you don't need to use the buttons that much other than to adjust volume which they are in the perfect place, it's nice not having buttons you can press by mistake when putting it in your pocket something that happened a lot with my one x.

I had the same dilemma, whether to get a G2 or a Nexus 5. Got the G2, it was my best decision ever made. Seriously, the G2 is the better choice here. It has bigger battery, better camera, better screen-to-size ratio, name it. The Nexus 5 isn't bad, but the LG G2 is the clear winner, at least for me. If you get it, you won't regret.
Geeee twooooooo
I also have a question that will help me decide if I'll become a G2 owner. Basically I've narrowed my choices to the G2 and Note 3 out of the options out there. Both have their drawbacks and strong sides but this one topic is difficult to find info about - headphone sound quality while playing music.
One of the main purposes of my smartphones are to replace other portable music players and I like quality. I listen to Flacs or minimum 320 mp3s and this might be the decision maker for me. I've heard good things about the headphone sound quality in the Note 3 so how is the G2? Does anyone have experience of both to compare?

The G2 comes with average earphones, but it offers software audio enhancements, including an equalizer with built-in presets. If you are really into music and want the best of quality, you should get third-party quality headphones, since those that come with the G2 won't blow your mind.

CM/AOSP derived roms on the G2 are buggy. It's a fantastic device on stock based roms but if you prefare the 'google' look then I would say it's a no no.....IMHO

I would suggest you look at the new HTC one. If it's anything like (or better than) the original HTC one, the native flac playback is awesome (with beats enhancements turned off of course )

I just got my G2 earlier today and so far I'm loving it. I too have a Nexus 4 and love the Google experience. I was looking into the N5 but the battery life really turned me off. The screen on the G2 is gorgeous and while I only have half a day under my belt, it already far surpasses the battery of my N4.
I was thinking of waiting for either the new HTC One or possibly the Xperia Z2, but with the G2 being really cheap at T-Mobile right now I didn't feel like waiting for the new devices and then paying north of $600 off contract. Also, the G2 is just as, or close to, as powerful as the new phones that are coming out this year so I feel very future proofed.
Just my two cents, good luck!

Anyone switch from a Nexus 5?

so, I have the oppertunity to trade my Nexus 5 for a G2. I am wondering if anyone else made the same switch?
my main concern is loosing wireless charging and the whole update thing.
I LOVE being able to flash an almost 100% stable version of the latest update the day it gets announced. but it goes without saying, that I WILL be rooting/ROMing this thing. as long as I can get CM11 on it at the very least, I will be happy software wise I think.
I am pretty happy with the battery life and camera and build quality/size of the N5, as well as the screen. I really dont have much reason to switch other than the larger storage (16GB now), better camera, and better screen.
so, to anyone that has made the switch, what do you miss, and what don't you miss about the swap?
I miss the way it feels n hand the most. Nexus 5 has a better build quality to me. But double the storage(had the 16gb) and better battery was enough for me to switch.

The G2 has better display, speaker, battery and the camera.
Were also on 4.4, i say switch
yep i had the g2, switched to n5 for the rom customization... and came right back.. the battery on this phone makes it all worth it !
I have both. Using the g2 now. Missed it. Unfortunately rooting with a freaking 4.4.2 Rom is near impossible w/o white lines. I've given up

Someone said Nexus 5 had better build quality? Must be on crack or something. Same manufacturer, one phone sells for $300 less than the other, and somehow LG magically had extra money to put in better quality parts? The parts for the Nexus 5 are about as dirt-cheap as LG could've made them. The screen, most importantly, is abysmal.
I had a Nexus 5 for 2 weeks. Returned it due to crap build quality, low battery life, and no native double-tap to wake. If you think the build quality of the Nexus 5 is fine for you, then only the battery and double-tap are the pluses.
Going to G2 you get:
- much better premium screen
- phone feels better-built, more solid
- double tap to wake & buttons on back
- long battery life
- back of the phone is smooth (slippery)
You lose:
- Nexus 5 HDR+ camera (takes crisper pics than G2)
- lots of custom roms you can easily flash
- Nexus 5 software runs much faster despite having the same hardware
The ROMs for the G2 aren't that developed. Not many developers and they're not as polished as Nexus's roms. This is because the base LG rom is bloated, (2.3gb os vs 300mb Nexus os) and LG/Samsung make it harder to use recovery or flash roms.
Since I rarely flash roms, it's not a problem.
Don't miss: With G2 you never worry about charging your phone. I can run it for 2+ days w/o charging. Screen is wayyyyyyyy better & a bit bigger. G2 is a phone for the fit and forget. N5 is a phone for the fiddlers.

Rooting on my 4.4.2. was as simple as using ioroot, with no issues caused at all. Saying it is near impossible is a bit extreme.
I will have to agree that the soft touch back on the N5 (only on black, not on white/red) is a very nice feel.
Also can someone comment on speed/smoothness in G2 vs N5? I have a feeling LG Optimus UI is causing lag, even in KK, and slowing things down. I only played with a N5 briefly but everything was instant.
AOSP roms on the G2 just aren't stable enough and you lose a lot of features like the great camera.

Nexus 5 is defiantly faster but not by much. Had the N5 for months then gave it to my gf and got the G2. Every now n then I pick it up just to experience the fluidness again.

I really wanna know how for my T-Mobile mobile d01.
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk
I had both.
Nexus 5 has better touchscreen (by far mooore sensitive), louder speaker, it's faster and has big big support from community.
G2 has incredible battery and display, but poor plastics and the speaker is just ok. Personally dont like rear buttons and i think knock-on is far to be perfect.
I dont care about photos.

I made a switch from n5 to lg g2 and I feel better now. n5 for me is pure crap, it feels like a toy. I get g2 for the same price (change it), and from that point neither the price is not on the nexus side.
With g2 I've got ten times better batery, better screen (way better in daylight), better hardware (yes, on n5 problems with signal reception, speakers, mic etc..)
and better build quality, like I said nexus is and it feels like a toy.
and yeah, I rooted and flashed custom rom in a about first ten minutes I've get the g2, and I have perfectly stable device in wich I can trust, and usualy I am switching rom but here there is no point everything is perfect. On nexus5 I've flashed all roms avilable and didnt find the perfect one lol, seriously
cheers

I was from N5, I traded it with my cousin's G2. Before My Nexus 5 I was using Nexus 4. Poor batterylife from nexus devices made me switch to G2.
Thanks for the replys guys.
Like I said, I am actually pretty happy with the battery life on my N5....it easily gets me though a full day as long as I'm not streaming music for extended periods of time. If I dont play any music, I can get 4 hours of SoT while on HSPA/LTE and about 5 on Wifi....I usually only need about 3 max.
My main draw is just to have something different I guess. I have been on Nexus devices (Gn-nex then N5) for 2.5 years now. I am in love with the screen on the G2, the bottom headphone jack is a HUGE plus to me, the battery will be nice for when I DO stream music all day, and the overall feel of the G2 is pretty awesome IMO.
my main concerns are the software and update schedule....but I guess I always have my Nexus 7 (2013) to have that vanilla experience. I have been reading about AOSP ROMs and seems they aren't quite there with stability, But if i could run an LG build but have it LOOK like AOSP (AOSP nav and status bar icons, as well as a clean notification shade) I think I would be pretty happy. I really want it to be about 95% AOSP but leave in the nice LG stuff.
I LOVE my G2! There's only one phone i would change for it: Mi3
But honestly, i'm really really happy with my G2. The custom rom support is.. okay-ish, there are a bunch of stock and even CM/AOSP roms out there. It's only hard to find the right one. The longest rom i used was CM (temasek build) - 15-16 days without any issue or reboot etc. Currently testing stock rom again, but already missing the vanilla look and performance.
Batterylife is awesome, camera is fine (i think on stock its a little bit better? Dont know.. i dont take that much pictures), performance is great either on stock or CM/AOSP, speaker quality is "fine", came from HTC One m7 so.. well its.. fine
Cant say much to N5 but i've read good reviews and some guys told me its a good phone also

[Q] HELP LG G2 or S4

I am torn between subscribing a two year contract between lg g2 and s4. I dont take into account the newer phones cuz they are a lot expensive. Which should I purchase? I am more into camera, games and multimedias. The things stopping me from leaning to lg g2 is the wierd button placement and the non expandable storage. Is it really uncomfortable in using the volume and wake buttons? I had been reading reviews thesee past few days and alot of the says the speaker are weak and its placement is not good. It csn be easily obstructed by hands. But I do think the g2 is better than s4 due to newer processor and gpu. Any advice on this matter? Thanks in advance

I've had similar doubts recently, and decided to move from Galaxy series to LG.
My first impression regarding buttons position is that there is a perfect reason to put them at the back. I'ts just a matter of getting just on them, and it took one day.
Camera is quite nice, with quality photos in all conditions. If you are devoted mobile photographer, maybe there are some better choices, but for an average user, camera is more that one can expect. (Good camera review)
Speaker is kinda week, and can be obstructed by hands, but, it is not bad at all.
G2 is really a beast, no need to talk about hardware. It isl really a superb smartphone with exceptional screen.
Software is surprisingly nice and friendly to advanced users. I am Cyanogenmod fan, but can live with LG stock ROM without any problems.
If you don't need tons of files on the phone, and don't need long HD video recordings, lack of external storage should't be to hard to live with.
If it means anything, I really believe that currently G2 is a best buy and smart choice

I can live with weak speakers since usually im using headset. But a photowhore hahaha lol. I tend to snap photos every now and then. But the limited memory makes me think twice. I love lg g2 but I also love saving up video clips so I ca watch them back every free time. And also does the g2 have a good community support with awesome devs? I tried searching for miui for g2 but I found no favorable response

the S4 is a great phone, but if you purchase a s4 you'll get a Triband version. I just came out of the S4 and the development is no where near where the LG G2 is. The sprint S4 SPH-L720T can use all of the regular S4 non triband (sph-l720) roms, but guess what, no Spark. If your okay with that, then there is alot of roms and development on the S4. However, on the LG G2 they have more roms and they the roms work across all the variants. That is one reason i really liked it.
The LG G2 already comes with a really close AOSP feel. In fact, out of the box there is very much small things you actually have to do to get it to AOSP. And whatever is missing you can get with Xposed Framework. I sure do not regret it. Even the battery life is better on the G2 because its slightly bigger. The AMOLED screen on the galaxy series have started to bother me becaause im a Graphic Designer and the colors are just too vibrant. On the G2 the colors are right on the money as its the same color space SRGB compared to our monitors. Good lucks man, this device is amazing, it does not get the attention it should. I like Galaxy though because the Developing (for the non triband version) is extremely extremely ahead of its game. But, as long as i have recovery, root and of course deoxed and init, kernel and underclocked, im a happy camper. Sorry for any mistakes, i dont wanna go and proofread. lol

the g2 community is great and the devs are awesome, and offer plenty of support for their roms, there is currently no working miui port for the g2 if that's what you are looking for(there is a v6 port somewhere but it doesn't boot), the 32gb version should satisfy you unless you planning on recording hours of 4k videos(supported with camera mod), also if you are into photography than the stock camera is not all that worth it, root and camera mod will do wonders for the phone
Man no doubt!! G2 is amazing!! is better than S4...
true
That is true, G2 win.
As you may see at STUFF.TV G2 is at second place, beating even S5

I spent a lot of time researching these two options. I had a slightly different short list of functionality that I wanted (both that I could or couldn't live without). The G2 has better hardware specs than the S4, as you probably know, and the benchmarks generally beat it (which gets to your multimedia/gaming requirements). But, they're both great phones and i'm sure you wouldn't have problems with either. They are similar, outstanding phones.
I decided on the G2 because of its camera OIS (only android phone that has it, period). And, it consistently got better reviews on almost all photography-type sites than any other android phone (s4 included). I love the camera, it is very good (for a phone). I just put its HDR pictures and videos on a 720p 50 inch TV - they look outstanding. Obviously not as good as a real camera...
