Flashed an unsigned recovery the manual way - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Welp, within hours of gaining root, I did something stupid:
Code:
dd if=openrecovery-klte-2.7.0.0.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
It worked, but now I've got AT&T's friendly, "we hate you" message and I can't boot:

}
How do I unscrew this up? Will an Odin back to stock save me here?
Going forward, how do I bypass this nonsense? I'm on klteatt, basically the AT&T variant of the Galaxy S5.

Do I need to migrate this to Q/A? If so, how can I do that? Not sure.

Have you tried using Samsung Kies to recover your phone?

I was able to install my recovery with the original Samsung recovery, wrapping it in a tar archive, appending the md5sum to the end of the file, and flashing with Odin. I'm all good now. Migrating further discussion to the other thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53487095

What is a bootloader and how do I upgrade one?

Hi guys
I bought the Note 3, I'm trying to put TWRP recovery on. But there is a note saying
Use the 4.3 version of TWRP if you have never upgraded kitkat bootloader. Otherwise make sure you use the 4.4 version. These versions of TWRP have different DTBs and will fail to boot if you do not match your bootloader.
So, how do I know if I have which bootloader?
[QUOTE So, how do I know if I have which bootloader?[/QUOTE]
Get an app from tge Play store. It's called Info. Here is the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.info
You will find there what you need. Good luck!

Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, in the FIRMWARE INFO section.

Wrong post
Can you check if I have the correct bootloader installed?
I can not make any phone calls at the moment, I get "com.android.phone as stopped" error. Is something wrong with the bootloader, or kernel or the rom or something else?
Please help me. I can not call or receive any calls, I miss talking to my mom.

SafetyNet failing

So I went to setup Android Pay and got this message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I wiped Android Pay's app data and same results. So I ran a SafetyNet test and it failed.
I'm obviously not rooted or bootloader unlocked. I remember it working before. Any ideas why it won't? Anybody else on G935TUVU2APC have this issue? I'm hoping I don't have to wipe my device via Odin and start over...
EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED. APPARENTLY USING THE CONDENSED DPI OPTION BREAKS IT. SWITCHING BACK TO STANDARD VIEW FIXES IT.

Did you happen to change your dpi?
Just through the Samsung hidden settings. Could that be it?

Wow, thanks, that was it. Lmao sucks but I guess if I use Android Pay I'll revert to the standard DPI. Good to know.

Not clear whether "trying" means you succeeded or failed. Given that ambiguity there is always this:
Flash a pure stock (Samsung factory) ROM using Odin and start from the beginning. You have nothing to lose as your phone was "hard reset"
Thanks for your concern but where can I download it easily cos I try downloading it from sammobile but no way
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
You might have to buy a membership there (sammobile) - I recently tried downloading with my freebie account and it didn't work. (It is possible that was due to my browser type or ad-blocker issue though. I was using both an off-beat linux browser and multiple ad blockers. Someone recently suggested that might be the trouble. I didn't investigate further.)
Do you know the android version and the firmware version?

You're not the only one, same for me and some other Note FE SM-N935F/DS users...
Seems like that only the Korean variant doesn't have this problem as they can just flash the standard TWRP without problems.
Anyone able to boot back to main screen without flashing stock ROM?
So there's no working root method yet for N935F/DS. Seems we have to wait for a year? Hope not. I like their phones but I hate Samsung!

[a207F] Rooting?

After a few failed attempts and some net digging, i decided to downgrade my firmware to an early android 9 that i grabbed from samlabs.
i figured from this "workaround" that i can finally get magisk working with my device

but due to my limited knowledge, i don't exactly know what he mean't here, like... how do i flash something with a odin tarball???
and how do i even extract the files mentioned?
can anyone lay it to me straight?
Github Thread
PS: my bootloader is already unlocked, i tried the simple method that makes sense to me and just flashed a patched AP of the aforementioned Firmware but unfortunately hit
the usual dead end (Secure check fail, recovery.img).
Note that the bootloader with Android 10 and later on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) [SM-T290] is suffering from this same issue.

It is about a different device, but may work.
Just replace the aboot.mbn.lz2 and vaultkeeper.mbn.lz2 in a tarball (.tar file) with aboot.mbn.lz2 and vaultkeeper.mbn.lz2 from last Android 9 tarball (.tar file)
I don't remember which one contains these files, so find one with them
