Hello there,
Since the American versions of this phone seem to be bootloader locked, would it be possible to get the Canadian version, on say, Rogers, which isn't bootloader locked, and use it on AT&T? Would I get LTE this way as well? Thanks.
Absolutely. Should work no problem. Just add apn settings and simcard

Sorry to sound uninformed, but what is APN settings? Also, is there a more practical way to get an unlocked version from within the U.S. itself? Such as from T-Mobile?
I sold a Canadian HTC M7 from Telus on the US market with the bootloader unlocked but the new owner could not simply insert his SIM into the phone. It was SIM locked. Locked bootloader is completely different story than locked SIM (the device is locked to work only with a particular carrier's SIM). I had to get an unlock code and then worked. Be aware about this.
Here is your explanation:

Hello my friends,
i was in vacation and a I bought a unlocked atrix 4g. My phone have AT&T logo at the back but it is unlocked for any GSM carrier.
OK ! I returned to Brazil and now i want install the homebase ROM.
My doubt is ..... which kind of ROM should I use ? International or AT&T ? I dont know which group my phone belongs. Because it's unlocked but he has the AT&T ROM.
Thanks for the support.
So it is an at&t phone right?
Lets try to find The logical thing to do here...
Its an at&t phone with at&t ROM... Uhm What do you think?

Thanks for your reply.
Yeah, following the logical though I need install the AT&T ROM. But my doubt is:
The cellphone is unlocked and I use it with other GSM carrier than AT&T. If I install the home base ROM for AT&T smarthphones there is some risk to have my phone Locked again to AT&T carrier ? Or, for the reason I have a unlocked cellphone and use it in international area, I should install the international ROM ?
Thanks for your attention
I own an unlocked at&t atrix with my carrier in México wich is Telcel. With an at&t ROM. No problem at all.
Doesnt lock again
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
The phone won't be locked again once it's carrier-unlocked (sim unlocked).
It's totally unrelated to the ROM you use for your phone. You can install any ROM you like on your phone. This is from my own experience.

Hey!
Im going to buy a used XT907 in a while. As I understand, its a CDMA phone, network locked to Verizon.
Can I unlock it somehow to run it on my GSM carriers network?
I've checked the network bands and the XT907 supports all the 2G and 3G used by my operator.
And what about unlocking the bootloader?
I saw a thread on XDA which said the bootloader couldn't be unlocked if the phone had installed the latest OTA - by that I understand that it cant be unlocked if its on Kitkat.
Any workarounds for that?

1. No need to unlock! XT907 network lock is only restricted to local US GSM Operators. So use any network provider with your RAZR M. BTW I'm using Ufone.
2. Bootloader can only be unlocked using exploit if the firmware version is 183.46.10 and not 183.46.15. However, if .15, you can unlock bootloader by finding a Sigma Retailer in your area but that will cost money (Rs. 500).

Actually there is a need to unlock. My girlfriends phone would not work with straight talk at&t until we used radiocomm to unlock it. I've actually never heard of being able to use this phone on a gsm network without some nv editing.

It is my understanding that the Verizon HTC 10 is unlocked for other carriers. So I'm hoping that someone here can tell me if the bands in the phone work well with ATT service.

I have not tested it out personally but I am 99% sure it will work.
I had a Verizon M9 (which is unlocked just as the HTC 10) and gave it to my girlfriend about 2 months ago. I only had to change the APN settings and she gets flawless service.

For the correct APN settings (for any carrier), search google for "*insert carrier* APN settings".

ATT and Tmobile sim cards work i guess, does LTE work too? Is there a way to flash an international firmware and covert it to a real unlocked phone without verizon traces?
Not working! It shows error as soon as I try to activate it

Do at your own risk.
You should be able to s-off, supercid and flash att ruu, converting to 100% at device.

The unlocked ruu would work at the very least. Just need to change mid and Cid and flash the unlocked ruu. No doubt in my mind it would work then.

I use Cricket which is a sub-brand of ATT. I am able to receive decent speeds, but not anything over 8 Mbps due to my plan.
If you are not able to use an AT&T SIM on your Verizon HTC 10, you can always flash the unlocked firmware.
You can follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-10/how-to/guide-aosp-roms-booting-vzw-10-via-t3487903
Since you will not need to use a Verizon SIM, you can skip the part about deleting the .img files.
So I have seen multiple people here on the forum claiming to do it or wanting to do it and I am a bit confused. I have an s7 edge on contract from ATT. Can I do this? If I flash T Mobile's firmware on this does this make my phone usable with a T Mobile sim?
Thank you

Can you advise the procedure? I'm currently permanently locked to AT&T network and would like to use a carrier (SK Telecom - Korea).
Wouldn't you still need to SIM unlock your AT&T phone to use on T-mobile network? I don't think just flashing another carriers ROM will allow you to use their network. Am I Wrong in thinking this way?

Flashing the phones firmware will not carrier unlock the device. That is tied to the IMEI. It will boot up the Tmobile software, but it still will only work on AT&T network.
Also in order to unlock the device from AT&T they will most likely bill you for the remaining value of the device as soon as you request an unlock code. You cannot take a phone from one carrier to another unless it is fully paid off.
I have an Unlocked AT&T S7 and I can put in a T-Mobile sim and it works. So why Flash T-Mobile onto an AT&T phone if its Unlocked??? My AT&T S7 is Paid for in Full.
My question is, if you do flash T-Mobile firmware on AT&T phone will you get OTA updates off of T-Mobile, like when Nougat comes out????? Also would you still have wifi calling and get all the LTE bands of a T-Mobile phone????

Yes. All the edge models have identical hardware. Their only differentiating factor is the firmware they run. I flashed the unlocked firmware onto my AT&T model and now get updates directly from Samsung. If you flash the T-mobile firmware on the AT&T device, all features will work and updates will come from T-Mobile. Same would work if you flash the AT&T firmware onto a T-Mobile variant. Or Verizon to Sprint, Sprint to AT&T, etc.

So you are saying this about S7 Edge, does this work the same for the AT&T S7 SM-G930A? Mine is not the Factory Unlocked model but I got the unlock code from AT&T. I thought the firmware came from the carrier and not Samsung on updates on a carrier branded phone???
So if I flash T-Mobile into my AT&T S7, I can also flash it back to AT&T firmware should I go back to AT&T???
Think you are talking about flashing firmware on your that is original for the Factory Unlocked version, think its SM-G930F

Well people on the S7 edge have flashed the tmo firmware on their AT&T models. Updates come from carrier on branded phones. So if you have an AT&T phone and flash another carriers firmware, it would only be branded by the physical logo on the back. It's like buying a Windows PC and installing Linux. The updates would come from Linux, not Windows, and vice versa. You could always go back to the AT&T firmware, just make sure that both firmwares you flash are on the same bootloader version.

Updates do come from the carrier. However, if you flash a different carriers firmware you will start getting updates from the new carrier.

I might already be locked being it's a Sprint variant. Boot it up without the sim and if the unlock switch isn't greyed out then flip the switch. After that no sim can relock it

Bootloader is unlockable regardless.
From the way I understand it, if you boot the device with Sprint SIM, it will carrier lock the device. Meaning you will have to wait for Sprint to push updates for OTA.
But I am on Sprint and can confirm you can still unlock and root the device as normal instructions for the device state. And also sideload updates etc with no issue.

I bought the phone at Best buy and use Sprint. It locks as far as roaming and it hides the tethering option but I did switch the Sim and it worked on FreedomPop fine

If you boot into the bootloader, the phone will read "Sprint" or "OpenUS" next to variant.
