I confirm!!! Roooted AT&T P907a

Yup just successfully rooted..because of this I was able to take my sdcard out of the pro 10.1 I had and restore all the apps from titanium to the 12.2 note pro...now all I need is a recovery so I can flash a script to get rid of this lag...but having root makes this beast of a tablet 100x better already.

Anyone having any reboot issues? I haven't tried it yet and don't have any issues, but I'm up for root.

Maybe rebooted once after rooting... but never again

Holy cow. I've rooted many devices. That was too easy. That's insane.
For those wondering how hard is it.
1. Click link at top
2. Click link to towel root site
3. Click the icon to dl towel root
4. Install, run apk
5. Done
This took longer for me too type than it will for you to root

WORKS!!!

safestrap for at&t note 3
Hey guys just got my at&t note pro 12.2 yesterday, and its awesome, saw the tab s 10.5 today with the super amboled screen.I got to say wish the tab s came with lte, cause it looks great.Anyways I rooted with towelroot from geohot today with no problems.I decided to try the safestrap recovery for the at&t note 3 the new version 3.75 and it seems to be working.I just made a nanoid backup and it worked but it took a while.I didn't try to restore yet because was afraid if something went wrong I dont think theres a stock odin firmware to fall back on.The only thing the dpi is off because of our big screen but u can c most of the recovery page.I just wanted 2 let u guys know if anyone wants to play around with it.

The towelroot works on the snapdragon version of Note Pro. P900 is built on Exynos and therefore it will not work.
So far the only confirmed models are P905, P905V (Verizon) and P907A (AT&T), and only if you have not accepted an OTA update in the past month.

Don't feel ripped off. Snapdragon is a better processor, at least in this implementation of Note Pro. Don't be fooled by the word Octacore. Only 4 cores work at a time for Exynos.

Does this trip knox?

I rooted, allowed SuperSU to disable Knox, and no Knox trip.
Sent from my SM-P905 using XDA Premium HD app

Want to confirm that this worked perfectly for me as well. Easiest root I've done. No Knox Trip either.

Got random reboots with the SM-907A (xxxxAND7) via towelroot method. Used the latest SU and just let it disable Knox on it's own. The more knox stuff I froze via Titanium Backup, the more frequent the reboots were. Root itself did work though; knox still 0x0, showed as "official," but the random reboots were a bit annoying. Even letting SU disable Knox and leaving everything else enabled, still would reboot to the AT&T logo every couple days.
I've already uninstalled the AT&T bloat and left everything else there. I'm just going to unroot for a bit and see how it goes. Besides, not like disabling all of that stuff really helped performance much anyways. AdBlock randomly caused webpages not to load and I don't keep anything all that important that needs to be backed up. So I'll live with near-stock + Nova for now.

Did unrooting get rid of the reboots? I have these also, except more frequently than you describe. If so I will do as you did, debloat, get the software on that I want and unroot.

Thanks for the update. I actually used ODIN to go back to stock. After doing that I rooted and before installing SuperSU, I used the debloat script to disable Knox and the security updater. This has left my Note Pro rock solid and rooted with no Knox. It seems that using SuperSU to disable Knox is causing the random soft reboots.

With my P907A, it wouldn't root on our newest update. It gave me the same error. I had to ODIN back to stock and root then disable the updater using a script here on the forums.

Getting Note 10.1 today! Plan to root. What order do I do things?

I am getting my new Note 10.1 2014 edition today. Obviously after I charge it up, I am going to update it with all the latest OTA patches. Then I plan to root it using the cf-auto root package. So far, thats the root package I have read that seems to work, but I don't know for sure. I also have Nova Launcher purchased and ready to go. I have a case ordered as well.
Anyone have any tips they would like to share?
Get your ota updates then after the last one do a factory reset then start building your tablet.
Nova is great on this tablet btw....
Take a look for the guide threads here to learn what you can turn off if you dont need to use.
This tablet is bloated but easily fixable.
Phase one: OTA, root. Titanium backup, freeze unnecessary apps. Nova.
Phase two ...
Phase three: profit

I am applying the first OTA update now. Is there a specific root method I should be looking at? I know some root packages don't work with certain versions of the tablet.

That worked great! I am restoring my apps now using Titanium from my old tablet. After these are going, I am going to configure Nova Launcher. Thanks a lot for the helping hand guys.
I just picked up a non LTE version, I rooted with the CF quick root through Odin 3.09.
after that you'll have to get something like ROM ToolBox and freeze all the KNOX apps.
I can't get TWRP 2.6.3.1 to work, it goes into a boot loop, 2.6.3.0 does work but offer little use over stock loader and root
so I'm playing it safe for now since its still in "beta".

With the addition of Knox rooting new Samsung devices has new consequences.
So before anyone roots......... Make sure that you have done your homework of the rooting dangers and consequences.
.
So I just got my Note 10.1 2014 edition yesterday. You say take the OTAs then root. Do i take all the OTAs that are available, or only up to a certain point? I normally never take any OTAs if i plan to root a device.

Vroot works.. Not sure if you were implying it didn't or not.
Kingo was not working for the previous 4-5 days because (I think) of a server error.
I rooted with Vroot 2 nights ago and was relatively painless.

The other thread discussing Kingo has a lot of good info on how to use VRoot.
Specifically I used the info in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49961907&postcount=26
Of course, as with everything, it required some on the fly troubleshooting as well
I suggest reading that entire thread, especially the posts from the last week and then you will have a good idea of how to use VRoot and remove all the chinese crapware from phone and pc.
Tried Kingo this evening all I get on MJE is ROOT Failed! NotSupport!
vroot is the only one works on stock MJE. kingo doesn't work it out for me..
I am about to try the Vega method which doesnt involve sketchy chinese sites. I havent heard anyone say it doesnt work. You should look into it. Stay away from vroot and kinga isnt working.

Pretty sure vega trips knox
Update to my original post !! I ended up getting root using VROOT. Very simple, worked within 2 minutes. I downloaded SuperSu from play store and installed it. I then downloaded Titanium Backup thru play store and uninstalled the chinese app, or you could just freeze it.
All is good in da hood now. I installed safestrap, and later today I will finally put the best rom known to mankind on my new note3....... that being CleanRom. I had it on my GS3, and I'm gonna put it on my Note 3. Thanks for all the help.
I just got my note 3 and rooted with Vroot. Everything seems to have worked, except I cannot get SuperSu to update the binary. First try, it got stuck at installing for over 5 minutes. Every time after that, it says "Installation Failed" and recommends rebooting the device, but that does nothing. Superuser by CWM fails instantly telling me to email the dev a log, but I cannot find the log.
Does anyone know any solutions?

It does, but I don't care at this point. I'd rather use an open source rooting method than have the Chinese NSA install my root binary. I kid!
Does vroot trip Knox on MJE (4.3)?
By the way, my attempt at using Vega failed big time. I flashed the modified firmware and it failed, leaving me in Download mode permanently (until I flashed an unmodified copy of the firmware). Not sure what I'm going to do to achieve root.,

4.4.4 OTA update with root

Heya. I have a rooted verizon note 3. I see i can get the 4.4.4 ota update. So i uninstalled root via SuperSU. I get an error trying to do the ota update. Is there a way to install this update without having to use odin and flashing stock? I dont want to lose all my appz settings etc. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Probably not a good idea to take the update. I'd wait until our trusty devs get ahold of the OTA and do their magic.
Yah, but i get pretty poor 4g for some reason and this update might (is suppose to) fix it. I read a lot of people have unrooted with superSU and installed the OTA update fine but for me it isnt working. Even though i dont have root.

That might just of been the best error ever, especially if you use root a lot. No way to go back and no known, released root at the moment for that version. Like above me has said, try flashing the NK1 modem using Odin and see if that improves your signal any.
Well, i just have been using the stock rom, rooted with safestrap. Id like to update to 4.4.4 just to have the latest OTA with whatever various fixes it might have. Before i did the update i uninstalled anything from wanam exposed framework wise. Then i did the "remove root" from superSU. I still have the unlocked lock on the note 3 splash screen after reboot and the OTA fails....says error at install screen. I have read other people have done what i have done and the update worked. What im asking is am i overlooking something? Is it really even possible without using odin and reverting to stock even though i have read people have had sucess????

If you want the benefits "fixes" of the latest, would be be smart to Odin stock so you are clean when you take the OTA.

I too have read ambiguous posts of people who have used the 4.4.4 OTA on a towelroot'ed Verizon Note 3s. I've been skeptical that this would work and keep root so thanks for clarifying.
I have a question though. Where should I look to keep track of the latest news about a root technique for a Verizon Note 3? Also, is there a place to contribute to a bounty for someone who can figure this out?
I ask because If you google "samsung note 3 Verizon 4.4.4 towelroot" there are tons of hits, but most of them are from eons ago and while I root my phone, I am not a developer, and so don't know the lay of the land. In the past I've just searched for "root verizon samsung note 3" and crawled through the resulting mound of irrelevant material until eventually I found the answer. Or is the answer simply that every few days I search again to see if anything new pops up?
I realize this is a totally newbie question, but I'm a long-time newbie: I've been rooting my phones for years but I don't have a lot of phones and updates only come out every so often so I never really move up the learning curve of how to do this quickly and easily. I suspect others have the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It likely is possible to update and keep root. But if after updating you screw up a mod, etc. and need to get back to stock you will lose root permanently.

I read about 4.4.4 and didn't like what they took away from 4.4.2. I won't go to it. If I were you I'd 'towelroot'- (get the simple steps on xda), and 'beanstown 106' has all the firmwares for these phones, put the nc4 on w/ 4.4.2, then install biggins rom v7, then upgrade via dirty flash with 8.0 then immediately w/ 8.3- fast touch response and after about 3-4 days, you'lI be getting twice the battery life… I jumped up to the new v9 but they dont have the theme for it yet. I miss the Kromex blue on black…

Was it easy to root?what method did you follow please?only rooted once and was nexus 6p never rooted another?cheers
So does that mean you are going to flash back the stock ROM. I'm undecided on whether to root or not. I've been jailbreaking since the first iPhone, and the S7 edge is my first ever android device. I must say I can do almost everything I used to on jailbreak but with a lot less effort.

I have the same config, except I obtained root with TWRP + SuperSU.
Runs better than Stock, and No Reboots.
Are you sure you got the correct Xposed version ? (Arm64, SDK 23)
Out of the box, First thing I did was Power up in bootloader, Flashed TWRP. Root is a must for me.
A little confused as to the OP? What exactly are you stating or trying to convey?

Use Xposed from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960
This is specifically made for TW devices, because Samsung makes modifications to ART and other things that break the normal Xposed. I installed it on my S7e and it works like a charm

you sir, are a lifesaver!
thank you so much!
Sorry half the post was removed....
Anyways I wrote this because if you go far enough to trip Knox you aren't going to want to run stock TW. With the features this phone has I can't see myself running cm or a AOSP distro if I lose out on the hardware's capabilities. For a thousand dollar phone the price tag doesn't meet the performancs running stock with root and xposed.
I used wanams custom Xposed v80 x64. The TWRP exynos version and Cf-root. This version of Touchwhiz is 8gb. There is ALOT of RAM usage on the device stock. With Xposed framework on top the device is lagging behind what it should be.
I'm dying to get a custom TW running because this device is a beast but there is to much on top of the essentials that are holding back the s7.
If you are thinking of going the mod route you should not use stock. When the time comes flash a custom TW.

Yeah, 0x1 now.
Wasn't a big deal for me, as this is probably the sixth phone I had with Fort Knox.
I wanna start playing with this thing but Sam mobile doesn't have our firmware up yet.
Any other firmware I can use to reflash stock if I run into trouble playing with this thing?
I'm also on the w8 variant and like to have everything on my laptop before I make the leap

You shouldn't need another. With Odin you can flash the recovery again if it fails but after you have a recovery you can just factory reset it and it well go back to default. Go to the TWRP EXYNOS thread and follow his steps. Its a smooth process
Thanks for the reply Benny, that won't work if I want to experiment with the custom rom available tho will it.

Download Nandroid manager and online Android backup. Your gonna have to get TWRP and root
Make a backup and save it to your SD card. Copy it somewhere safe, and make sure you can flash it if anything goes wrong.
Or you can hold off and wait for Sam's mobile. In due time it will have a stock image for your provider
Hi Benny, it's awesome you got it all working. I have same model of the S7 Edge. I am rooted, however I didn't install TWRP yet, because I was confused about the instructions in the "exynos twrp" thread.
Did you glad the "dm-verity- disabler "? I'm not sure what that does, but it was part of the instructions. Also did you do a factory reset when flashing twrp? Because my phone is all setup up now, I don't want to do a factory reset to get twrp.
Please advise
before i root i need to make sure sammy can resolve all 6.0.1 issues, mainly crappy 3d gaming performance. happens on ALL 6.0.1 devices, on Note 5 running angry birds 2 for 5 minutes results in awful lag and stuttering same with s7e, however 5.1.1 Note 5 runs it perfect!!!
i mainly play ppsspp emulator and angry birds 2, and this stupid bug must be resolved!

That file removes the encryption on internal storage. It's required if you wish to have TWRP have read write access to the internal storage. Wichita is required if you plan on using custom rom in the future.
I'm thinking what you could do (which is what I'm gonna do) is flash the auto root method. Then do a full backup with titanium to sd card. Then install TWRP and do full wipe and no diversity script and TWRP root method.
Then reload my titanium backup.
Think this will best of both worlds as I'll have read write access and won't lose all my data.
Can anybody confirm or correct me on my thinking here?

animal crossing on rooted phone?

I have a T-Mobile snapdragon s8 rooted and I can't play animal crossing because it detects root. I see people using magisk to play but we can't obviously use that method. Does anyone know any other way to get it working short of unrooting?
I don't have an answer for you but I'm in the same boat. I rooted my unlocked US s8 with sampwnd, tried to install animal crossing, nope. I gave up on getting it from Play Store pretty quick so I've been using an apk. It can get through the nintendo link, the initial scene, and the character customization, then shuts itself down. Countless reinstalls of this app. I ended up trying to unroot through the supersu app. Now I'm in an even worse situation: I don't have root, but every app that checks for root thinks I do, so no animal crossing or netflix for me. And I can't open a root adb shell in order to redo the sampwned root without reflashing stock. This weekend when I have more time I'll be reflashing stock and I really hope that works. Root will be worth it when the bootloader can be unlocked, but I can't deal with the missing apps and the 80% battery BS honestly.
Rooted exynos using magisk.batman rom and notorious kernal No special settings. Game working fine. Netflix works as well. Must be something with the way the snapdragon variant is rooted

You can try Xposed+root cloak or one of the other root hide tools there. If its safety net or knox you're outta luck though

Yea I just uprooted and re flashed stock. I loved having root but it was the same for me, I hated not being able to use apps plus the 80% charging. I was in the oreo beta so its cool I have that at least. Thanks for your reply
Edit: animal crossing is awesome by the way. I love it. Totally worth unrooting for me
