Hello,
I'm a new owner of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running 4.4.2, and I'm looking to replace the stock OS with CyanogenMod 11. I;ve done this process on other devices, but never a Note 3. Could someone help me in the right direction on how to root, install recovery and then install CM11?
Any forum or help I could get would be great!

I did look for awhile for different methods online, but I thought it best to ask others who had successfully done so themselves, so as not to brick a brand new device. I've experienced the frustration of bricking my Kindle a few times when I didn't have a solid method on how to do it, and I didn't want to go through the frustration again.
But thank you for the video you linked! That's exactly what I was looking for!

Hi guys.
First off, just got my hands on a Nexus 4 from T-Mobile. Got it at an awesome $45. You can't imagine the ecstasy I experienced when it got here and it was 16 GB. Going from my LG Optimus T to this is mind blowing.
Now, after researching, I'm at a standstill. According to every search I've made on this website, and on Google, the only way to root a Nexus running 4.2.2 is to unlock the boot loader. That's my first problem. I've found no guide through my searching that gave me a solid way to unlock it. Could someone link me to one?
Second, the rooting process. I've heard that it, as well, has no one solid way to be done on 4.2.2. Again, any help or links would be appreciated.
I can't wait to get a custom kernel and Cyanogenmod running on this. This is my Android dream come true.

Weird! We'll here's a link for you!
Use the nexus toolkit... While 4.2.2 isn't listed, select 4.2.1... It works.
Takes all of 2 minutes.

rooting any nexus device is the same. in a nutshell..
1. this one line typed into fastboot unlocks the bootloader.. fastboot oem unlock. then press yes on the device when the menu pops up.
2. fastboot flash a custom recovery, cwm or twrp.
3. flash either the su binaries or a custom rom with your new recovery.
4. reboot and profit.
thats the right way to root any nexus, on any version of android, even 4.2.2. there do exist different root toolkits, but i dont recommend them. they have their own issues plus you learn zilch.

Right. Duh. I forgot that I also read that the bootloader doesn't depend on whether or not you updated to 4.2.2. I'm blonde, you'll have to forgive me. Or not. Also, the Google link. That didn't help. That thread had dead links, so it's irrelevant.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 i747m on the Tbaytel/Rogers network, and I'm unsure of the best method to go about rooting and installing Cyanogen Mod 10.1 on my device.
Below I will list a few of my questions and/or concerns:
What is the best method - using Oden?
Is it difficult to remove the root and return the phone to full factory settings if later required/desired?
How do I go about updating CM? Do I just flash the new ROM?
If something happens during installation that causes failure, can I reboot my phone to a fresh copy of the S3/Rogers vanilla ROM?
I thank you all for browsing my thread, and for any help you may provide! :highfive:

My bad, I was rushing and failed to notice I was posting in the S4 section.
Can I move my post somehow?
First off, I'm looking for replies from Developers/moderators with much experience. Im new to Android and rooting, I have not rooted a device before. Also, I'm a Mac user as a windows pc will never enter my home! I would like to root my ATT Galaxy S4 which is using Android KitKat 4.4.2. I want to be able to remove bloatware and install apps that require a rooted device. Please point me in the right direction! Thanks for the replies.

Hi,
Look at this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2591068&page=2
But you need to confirm if it's working ok on KitKat and if it's triggering the knox counter as this will ruin your guarantee even if you de-route it. Check if the method works on your device, basically there are two different S4s out there, the I9505 (with LTE) and the I9500 (whitout LTE); the processors are also different. You will find your device name under settings/more/about device/model number if I remember correctly.

I have a TMO Galaxy Note 3, Rooted with CF Using TWRP running Version 5.0. Im looking to installing a custom Rom but just kinda overwhelmed with bootloaders on or off ,Kernals and so on. Just head over to android development section and download any rom of your choice. You mentioned your phone is 5.0/lollipop so no need to think about bootloader. While kernel is already in the rom so you're good to go. Just follow instructions in the thread to the letters. Read a few pages of the thread so you could get some info on whether you t-mo is supported or not or for any other issues may have related to the rom.

I would recommend Darklord Note 5 Rom, there is an update coming in the next day or two and I would download that update. It is fast and has a pretty good battery life for me. Plus it doesn't have all the random mods that other developers put on their roms. So you can just put the mods that you need yourself.
P.S. Make a backup of everything incase you need to revert back for any reason. Also, there is no way as of now to have NFC working on a custom rom for Note 3 TMO/ canada.
for me try arya mod or the darklord n5 rom
This time I hope I'm on the right forum and I hope someone can help.
My Verizon Samsung Note 3, which I rooted and placed safestrap. A couple of years ago I put the original Jasmine rom and never updated it since. But here's the problem, since the Note 7 started having issues, I decided to put the Darklord rom on this device, Note 3. Safestrap was no longer working on my Note 3, so I decided use Trwp, but after downloading it, it stated, phone was not recognized or something of that nature. Flash Fire was also inoperable. Any suggestions please.

Use Odin to load a stock verizon rom, then root, unlock bootloader, install TWRP and then the rom of your choice... Jasmine 6.1 (based on lollipop) is still an excellent choice.
