I'm new to the modding and rom stuff.
I have an E400B, running V12A firmware which seems specific to Canada.
I've tried installing gellmar's CM9 + SDMerge400 mods: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215406
It worked well for the most part. Rooting, repartitioning, flashing and using the ROM were all perfect. Except that I lost cell reception. Baseband was listed as unknown and IMEI shows nothing.
I understand that my phone firmware is different than what was used to build gellmar's CM9 (v10A or v10F I think). How can I flash that firmware onto my phone? Or, can CM9 be adapted to work with v12A?
Lg l3 e400b
I too want to know what type of rom it´s functioning with this smartphone of this series:good:
If you want to change firmware you must use KDZ update program, that changes your firmware(cancelling all your data)as far as i know this is the only method

Hello,
I am using Samsung Galaxy S I9000.. It is running on firmware 2.1 Eclair..
I want to upgrade it to Froyo 2.2.. I heard the JPA is fastest rom available for Galaxy S..
Please suggest me the best ROM to install on my galaxy s for speed and performance..
The baseband my phone has - I9000DDJG4
Please help me, how can I upgrade my phone to Froyo 2.2.. I've seen lots of ROM available in Android development section but don't know whether they support my mobile or not.
you need 20 minutes
1. 3br fix if not working, easy one from Richtrofen - flash bootloader with odin. (most risky part, but I do not find post with bricked phone when you patch both bootloaders at once), for me worked well
2. instal z4 root to root your phone
3. instal terminal and backup /efs folder
4. instal rom manager and download Doc rom v9 and instal it
Very stable and great rom, for the first time my gps is not lost every few kilometres

hello,
When flashing ROM should we check previous OS baseband, kernel version and androidn version ?
I heard from my friend that you cannot flash older andriod version on previous version such as installing 2.3.3 on 4.1.2. Also, he said that baseband much match the new ROM otherwise the phone will be bricked. Is this true ?

Your mate doesn't know much. You can flash any firmware, old or new so long as it is for that phone.
You can also mix and match modems and kernels, also so long as they are for that phone model.
No phone I know of has gone from 2.3.3 to 4.1.2 unless the 4.1.2 was a custom firmware. Even so you could still flash it back to an older firmware in odin or even cwm recovery (depends).
It's quite rare that a modem will cause a problem but it has happened. For instance on the S3 the baseband was updated at one stage, so that using an older baseband on newer firmware resulted in no outgoing call sound. But that was an easy fix. Just needed to relash a newer modem.
I only know of one instance where flashing a certain kernel on a certain rom caused a complete brick. That was on the S2 with one firmware version I believe.
Finally, if you are thinking of flashing and don't have much experience, my advice is read read read until your eyes burn. This forum is a good starting point.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to flash a V20 baseband on my Australian P705 as I'd like to upgrade soon to one of the custom JB 4.3.
I am currently on Slimbean 4.1.2 with baseband V10e.
I don't want to brick my phone or have any issue with it by flashing the wrong baseband on it so could someone please advise which V20 baseband would be the one to use on my phone from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335273
Also, I was wondering if I flash a V20 baseband, could I go back to V10 if needed?
Thank you for your help!
And sorry, I would have posted the question on the thread above but I am a new member and restricted in the thread I can post in!
Anyone would have an idea? I just really don't want to use all signal!
Thanks!
I risked myself to install V20e baseband.
I had signal from my phone provider but in "About Phone", in the Baseband line I had "RRO" so not sure why or what it means.
I also installed Slimbean 4.3 which didn't seem really stable and I lost root privileges in the process and couldn't find a way to root a LG L7 using JB 4.3 so I went back on baseband V10 and Slimbean 4.1.2 until we get a more stable JB 4.3.
I'll keep you up to date if I find a working solution.

Yeah I knew that, it's just between JB 4.1 and JB 4.3, we need to upgrade the baseband from V10 to V20 and there are plenty of V10 versions and plenty of V20 versions with different letters (e.g. V20a, V20e,...) and I wasn't sure whether I could use any of them without any trouble or not.
I tried V20e temporarily on JB 4.3, I could still get signal from my phone provider but the baseband didn't seem to be properly recognized in "About Phone".

Hey mate, any luck with this? I'm in the same boat as you, except I haven't tried any of the various v20's yet... I'm on v10e also, so logic says I should upgrade to v20e - but there even two of these - one says "PL" and the other for "GBR"... I'm with Vodafone AU and have no idea... I don't want to brick and am a little worried :/

Hey mate,
I think I upgraded for V20a but I can't remember. Baseband is just showing RRO in About Phone but it's working with Optus in Australia and overseas.
I remember I had to upgrade the Baseband first before upgrading Android otherwise it didn't work!
I am also using Slimbean 4.3 Beta 5.2.
It's working OK.
To be honest, don't bother, it's not worth it playing with custom ROMs!
At least not for the L7!
Battery life is even worse than out of the box (even with Greenify), features from newer versions of Android don't work because this phone is not compatible with them (I'm thinking of Photosphere which was the main reason I wanted to upgrade)
In my opinion it's just a waste of time! I'll try a custom ROM of KitKat when stable but if it just keeps getting worse on my L7, I'm just gonna go back to stock!

Thanks. I ended up trying the v20e (both of them) with Prime KitKat rom. I installed all this before I read your reply and all is good - except for the network reception. I'll go back and try the v20a now. This phone isn't my daily driver, just a mess about so I'm keen to try KitKat out on it while I wait for OTA on my Note 3. So far, other than the current mobile data issue, this Prime 4.4.2 rom seems pretty good Thanks again
Hi all, I'm pretty experienced with flashing roms but I've run into a problem I cannot fix.
I bought a Korean version F320L and it came with stock 4.4.2. I rooted and then tried a few roms. Moved back to my saved stock rom because of battery life. As my signal wasn't great I looked for an updated radio. I found cloudyfa's modified baseband and it was a newer baseband than my current model. I flashed it and the phone rebooted normally but found no SIM card.
I've tried a number of fixes:
1. Factory reset - nothing
2. Restore stock backup - nothing (I hadn't saved the radio.img - will next time)
3. Flashing to stock, first a Kitkat rom (Korea LG U+ KitKat_F320L21P_00.kdz) then a Jelly Bean rom (LG U+ F320L11G_00.kdz)
Still always the same, no sim cards recognised (I've tried a few different ones that work in other phones).
Can anyone offer help or insights?

So I've been trying everything, I restored my EFS partition backup and used the LG Mobile Tool to reflash. Again the exact same problems. All I can guess is that flashing cloudyfa's modified kernel whilst on stock rom tripped some kind of sim/country lock, but I find no mention of such a mechanism anywhere on the web.
:crying: some help or ideas would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,
just a long-time forum-lurker in the dark here, now I'm here asking for help to restore my galaxy s4.
Here's the story:
gt-i9505 no brand, italian official firmware 4.4.4 (kitkat), never updated, only used towelroot to gain rood adn unistall couple of unused apps.
everything worked fine
Then i decided to upgrade to lollipop.
downloaded last samsung lollipop rom for my phone from sammobile, made a full backup via TWRP Recovery, and installed lollipop via Odin.
Then the nightmare begun :
1st problem, no modem, no connection, only wifi, i restored EFS, still not working, reinstalled modem via odin and then i got my imei and connection again.
2) think i've tried to change the rom to a custom downloaded here (i don't even remember the name), then i tried couple other roms.
this as far as i remember
Now the phone has a samsung original lollipop rom, wifi won't turn on, data not working, knox status is obviously altered (so i cannot restore it via kies or whatever the software name is now) BUT It overheats a lot after few minutes and i'm forced to shut it off to not damage it.
I'd like to restore it to a full working condition, i think i've messed up with bootloaders, modems and roms from different android versions.
can anyone help ?
Current status is

Hey, @dokrobei
Take a look on my Guide.
You need the guide clean install from the scratch. Please read it carefully till the end. There avaible links with all necessary stuff like modem/bootloaders/stock rom-firmware/recommend customs roms etc.
Hi @Retrial, thanks for the answer..
I've managed to reinstall stock KitKat 4.4.2 and working modem drivers, following another tutorial here. Now Wi-Fi, 3g and bt works fine, BUT the phone overheats a lot. It's not a battery problem and sure it's software related 'cause it wasn't like this before my stupid first attempt to upgrade to lollipop.
I've searched the forum for the overtheating near the flash zone problem, some say that is a microsd problem (wich I removed), some other that's a battery problem (wich is not in my case).
Do you think I should start from scratch again following your guide? IHow do I know wich modem / bootloader is right for my phone? I think the problem is there, maybe wrong modem version..

First of all there is no need to still be on KitKat...a lot of apps don't support Kitkat nowdays...and is outdated.
I will recommend first to proper upgrade to Lollipop stock and then use some of the latest android Pie Custom JDC Roms by following my complete guide. As I said above there is a full guide with links and very well explained steps. The latest Firmware for our S4 i9505 is QK1 - No matter which country you will choose, and it's recommened to have the latest. Just read it carefully till the end and check the asterisks.
The overheating it may be no compatible Modem/Bootloader since you messed up with Lollipop. To check what Modem and Bootloder you can simply install "Device HW Info" or "Phone Info" app and check.
Let me know how it goes, and if you have any question or problem feel free to ask. Good Luck :fingers-crossed:

After every flash the device become hot. Let the rom settle for a while.
If you have PK2 Firmware then you need PK2 Modem and Bootloader. So no, don't try other modem/bootloader.

I flashed it last night and checked if it was working this morning. I'm sure the high temps are not related to the usage or to the battery. It become hot eachtime i turn on wifi. Havent tried with data but I think it will be the same thing.
