Hi,
Root works using @geohot kernel exploit. And when you root it you can use old bootloader exploit to unlock bootloader. Just unlocked my razr
Edit:
After reading some comments I decided to add quick walkthrough (there are other ones inside this thread, so you're not obligated to use mine:
1. Get root exploit either from the original thread or from my dropbox.
2. You can also download bl unlocker motopocalypse.apk from my dropbox.
3. Put those files on your phone.
4. Install tr.apk and motopocalypse.apk
5. Run tr.apk, wait till it reboots your phone.
6. Check if root is working, if it does then run motopocalypse.
7. Check in fastboot more if "status code" equals "3" (turn off your phone and start it with power button + vol up pressed simultaneously).
8. If it does, you can appreciate @geohut and @djrbliss work by donating to them.

Awesome stuff i saw this mentioned in the other thread but wasnt sure if it was the real deal. I'm locked on the previous jelly bean build so i'm guessing if i now update to kitkat i can then gain root and unlock the bootloader?

Downloading the KK update now! I'm so excited just hope its not going to let me down.
Just to verify will this work on a locked xt926 running JB 9.18.94?
this is extremely lucky we get two chances to unlock our boot loaders every one who still has this phone better do this while they still can i almost think Motorola made it so we could unlock again because they felt sorry for us.

When its finished do i just flash it using odin or is there something else i should use? Being stuck with a locked bootloader all this time has made me forget a few things .

one made by Dan Rosenberg. You can find it in droid toolkits in dev part. Since trustzone kernel's smc handling in kk firmware is the same as in ICS and first JB it works like charm
Is it called Motoacolypse by chance?

1. "Capture screen" function is gone from power-off menu.
2. DualShock 3 support added
3. NFC Icon
4. MyXperia
5. Other changes which mentioned in other threads (like transparent UI elements etc.)

Generic = unbranded. You can flash it to any C6602. Even when flashing branded versions, it will never put a simlock on your phone.
If you use Google Translate on that site, it says 'Not packaged simlock.ta'.

Good news.
I own my Z almost 3 months, but I never rooted it yet. That's crazy for me, before I was thinking, that root will be first thing to do. So I just couldn't find reason for root. I think, that I'll root it, when next version of android will be available (4.3 or 5) as custom rom, because after it's announcement I will not be able to wait for stock rom. Also may be I'll flash CyanogenMod, when it's camera will have stock's functionality.
So. I can't say anything about rooting this particular device yet.
flash it ...... 4.2.2 too smooth ....nice work . thx

Hmm...
So is it just the RAZR M XT907 that got this update? Or did the XT926 get the same thing? My thread I linked was for both, though I only had an XT926 to play with but as with all phones I unlock for customers I check for the most recent updates on the phone and I wasnt notified of any. I'm leaving the thread up because its useful to those who haven't taken it for the XT907, but could it go void because of the inability to downgrade the bootloader yet?

yes, you can reroot. since your bootloader is already unlocked, I'm assuming you have a custom recovery installed (TWRP or CWM)? if so, then you can flash supersu (search for it on XDA) via recovery.

No you can't. With a locked bootloader you can't just flash anything. However, you can use SafeStrap, after rooting, and flash some of older SafeStrap ROMs.

Hello Guys,
I want to explain how to root your Sony Xperia Z with version 10.4.1.B.0.101.
What you need;
-Computer (with Windows)
-Sony Xperia Z (with unlocked bootloader)
-SuperSU (Download)
-Custom Recovery (Click Here(it's by DooMLoRD))
-Fastboot (Download)
Preparation:
1. Download all files.
2. Extract the "Fastboot.zip".
3. Extract the "boot.img" from the "Recovery.zip" in the fastboot folder.
4. Copy the SuperSU.zip to your device.
5. Shutdown your Sony Xperia Z.
Instructions:
1. Flash the "boot.img" using fastboot. (Open cmd and type in "fastboot flash boot boot.img")
2. Hold the volume button up (at you Sony Xperia Z) and plugin the USB into the device and to your Computer.
3. The operation will start automatically.
4. Reboot from fastboot. (Type in "fastboot reboot")
5. When the phone vibrates while it boot hold the volume button up to enter the recovery.
6. Flash the SuperSU.zip with the Custom Recovery.
7. Reboot to system.
7. Finished.
IF SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK, PLEASE WRITE ME!!!! BACK UP YOUR TA WITH "Backup TA"!!!!!!
Thanks for your attention,
MMX35.
Thanks
You need to add to the thread title that its for unlocked bootloaders only.

ahh, so i should make a only kernel ftf of my own 569 firmware and flash only kernel before i restore my TA-backup. But, do i loose root if i flash my own kernel only of 569?
Ok i unlocked my bootloader and rooted my device this way written by OP. No problem, i got root
Then i made my own Only kernel from my orginal ftf and flash it to remove DooMLoaRD's kernel we used here and it worked i still have root.
Proof:
And now i'm gonna relock my bootloader using my TA-Backup, crossing fingers and everything else.

YES YES Got ROOT and with "Locked Bootloader"
Thank you very much MMX35, DooMLoaRD, kingvortex and DevShaft

I used Towelroot to root the Razr M and installed SuperSU from the Play Store. It is fully rooted from what I can tell, but using the Motopocalypse APK and the Windows application with no success.
Any suggestions?
