Hi guys, I will try and explain this as simple as possible.
I as trying to install cyanogenmod 11 on my phone, and everything seemed to go alright until I made a mistake. I used TWRP to first backup my stock rom on the phone, and then when I was supposed to reboot into the app, I accidently rebooted the phone.
Now the problem is that the phone does not have any OS installed, so what is happening is that it's trying to boot into an OS that's not there, and instead ends up being stuck on the Samsung logo. I can enter Odin mode just fine, but for the love of god I cannot seem to figure how to get back into the TWRP application, or if it is even possible.
I do have the backup of the ROM stored on my SD card, and I've now moved it over to my PC, but it still does not seem to help me in any way. I've trid to launch the Odin3 program on my pc, in an attempt to to try and launch in TWRP through that, but it has all been without any success, so now I come to this board of guinesses, asking for help!
As an added bit of information, this was my first time trying to install a custom rom, so yeah.. Puff..
- The lost Dane.
- Edit -
I tried to "flash" by doing what this link said, in the hopes that my phone would boot into the program, but alas, it only booted back to the logan saying "samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005" :/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30694404
-- Edit Edit --
To make it super clear ... If I could get back into TWRP, I would be able to run my backup. I know how that app works, I just simply cannot get back into, and I do not know if it is even possible. I've searched and tried various guides to "flash TWRP through Odin" but it has all been without any success... :/

Did you hold volume up+home+power button to get into recovery mode?
In case your twrp get corrupted due to flashing failure previously
1. Download twrp from the following. 2.6.3.7 if you were running 4.3 or 2.6.3.8 if you were running 4.4.2(not sure if 2
6.3.8 is 4.3 compatible). For odin flashable use the one with .tar
http://www.techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hlte
2. Get into download mode(vol down+home+power)
3. Link the downloaded .tar to pda in odin. Odin log should show 'added' once you connect phone to pc
4. Start the process. Once finish phone should boot into recovery automatically but it'll try to boot back into OS. Just hold vol up+home+power button to get back into recovery

When I do that, I get an ultra short blue text appearing on the screen, before it goes into downloading mode, with a red text saying "Could not do normal boot." So it basically goes right into odin mode.

I edited my post. You need to reflash twrp
You are an absolute god. I wish I could show my appreciation, but I fear words isn't even enough to even begin.. I managed to get into TWRP now, though my backup rom doesn't show up anymore, but I suppose that's because I run a different version of TWRP than I did first? Idk, but really appreciate that you were able to get me back into TWRP.

I really do appreciate the help you've given, but I have one final request, and I really do hope it isn't too much to ask. Say I am unable to find the same version of TWRP, I will have to actually flash cyanogenmod onto my device. I don't think it should be too tough now that I've managed to launch into TWRP, because now I should be able to just put the rom on my SD card, and then install the files, no?
if it helps you, my device is SM-N9005, and I had 4.3 when I started this whole thing. Cheers!
- Edit.
I tried to download the Nighty build from CyanogenMod's own homepage, but when I try and install it, it says failed, giving me an erro that says "This package is for "hlexx" devices: This is a." That's all it says ... Hmfh. Sooooooooo... Yes! I'm in recovery mode now, but without any rom. :/

Yes you can flash any cm based rom.
You can also flash any stock rom such as SweetRom/X-Note/BobCat as most developers still keeping 4.3 rom in their thread.

Believe so. It's because of updater script i guess as described in the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600648&page=2
Try flashing chenglu's 6.0.4.5 recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454079
Just the same as you did for twrp. I think i read somewhere that changing recovery helped some people.
The worst just download sweetrom/x-note/bobcatrom or any stock 4.3 based rom if you deperately need the phone to boot up

So after having spent the better half of the night, I actually managed to get my phone to boot into cyanogenmod 11 ! But that joy was shortlived when I came to realize that wi-fi wasn't working, and I couldn't get it to work. I tried to factory reset as I had read would help, but alas it did no good. I figured I should try and run back a stock 4.4.2 rom and just be done with it, but that was when I realized I had lost my root (?!) so that wasn't really a possibility either, next I set out to try and find a way to root my phone now running cyanogenmod 11. I found a file here on XDA called "CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar" but whenever I try and flash that onto my phone, my phone just stays stuck saying "trying to enter into recovery mode" and does not really go anywhere from there. I can get back into recovery mode if I flash "n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.5(1116)" onto the phone, like you said, but that still leaves me without root access, which I need to throw a rom onto my device?! Arrrgh, this is getting silly, I just wish I could go back to my backup/ default rom on the device, but I can't.

About the cf auto root make sure you flash the one for 4.3. I believe you flashed the one for 4.4.2.
Doesn't really matter whether you have root access or not as long as you can boot into custom recovery. Just flash any custom rom. It'll give you root anyway.
Still if you need root just make sure you flash cf auto root then flash twrp or chenglu recovery. Flash the one for 4.3 that's the most important

But when I have cyanogenmod 11 installed, is that then not 4.4.2 ? I suppose that's what's giving me trouble... I'll try and see if I can find the cf auto root for 4.3 and return back if I was successful or not. Again, thank you for being so patient..

This seems to be the only one I can find; http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
And I've already tried that one 3 times, but every time I flash it, the phone reboots and keeps trying to enter into recovery mode, and is unable to do so before I've flashed n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.5(1116) again

Just enter download mode and reflash twtp. I saw there are 4 different versions for 4.3(2.6.3.0/2 6.3.5/2.6.3.6/2.3.6.7). Flash 1 by 1 and see if it can restore your backup

You really are a boss with a heart of gold! I used the file you linked me, ran it, and sure enough it installed and gave me root access. Believe it or not, but I am learning from this! The whole thing about bootloader being different from the rom version was new to me. But I am up and running with root access now, so now I hope it shouldn't be too hard to get a stock rom thrown in. I've kinda given up on my backup. I no longer care for the files I had before, now I just want the phone up and running with wifi.. X_ X
- Edit
Or do you have any clue as to what is causing wifi to not work? I really don't mind the rom at all, I quite like it, but where I live wifi is mandatory as it's a lowered area with mountains around me, meaning LTE really isn't viable while at home.

Hi, everyone I'm at a lost my S4 has been down for over a month now.
I've tried all the steps in the s4 bricked forums with no luck. I can't do the Kies recovery because it asks for a recovery code I don't have. (I bought the phone 2nd hand)
At this point I'm not even sure which stock rom I need to set the phone back to stock. I believe its a I337MVLUAMG1. I'm trying to run the phone on Aio.
When flashing from odin I usually get a failure. Seems like the Canadian S4 is prone to soft bricking searching the forums.
Currently I have Philz Advanced recovery installed. I'm stuck at Samsung Galaxy S4 logo
with
Kernel is not seandroid enforcing
Set Warranty bit: kernel
Any help of suggestions are gratefully appreciated.
Hey dude. No expert here, but it sounds like u have the new bootloader i.e. Knox. If ur going to do an odin flash to restore it, it's going to have to be at least MK6 firmware (I'm guessing this is the firmware u were on as NC1 just dropped and u said u'd been bricked for a month). Knox won't let u downgrade so if u've been flashing a 4.2 firmware then that's prolly why ur stuck at the boot screen. Good luck chief.
Oh, also, if u can boot into recovery, doing a factory reset and wiping /system couldn't hurt.

Alright thank you thats a step in the right direction. I downloaded: I337MVLUFNC1_880525_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI and tried flashing it. I'm getting odin failures. I can successful flash a recovery or modem. But flashing an entire ROM from odin fails every time. I'm not sure what stock ROMs will work with my phone. Its a Canadian i337m last time I was able to boot I was on MG1 i believe. I don't know if it matters. But I bricked my phone trying to undo the tmobile AWS work around (I swtiched to Aio).

U said u had the Knox msg come up when booting right? That means ur bootloader is 4.3 or higher regardless of what baseband ur on (modem). U can find a carrier specific version of the latest firmware at samsung-updates. Extract the tar.md5 and flash under AP in Odin 3.09 after unticking auto reboot and force reboot. If that fails u can try formatting all ur device partitions in recovery. Doubt that last part would help the odin flash stick but it's worth a shot. I use philz and u can format everything from /boot to /firmware_mdm. Like I said, dunno if that'll help but u could try it. Also, using kies on ur PC, u should make sure u have the latest drivers installed. Hope some of that helps

Holly Vag thank you! I can now fully boot the phone. I installed Philz recovery and installed Vision X G4. WiFi is not working, and I haven't put my sim card in to see if it'll work with At&t/Aio yet.
Okay next step this is a Canadian Rogers i337m I think. Not sure how to confirm it. But assuming it is. What do I need to do to get wifi running. I see forums saying to install certain kernel and modems for the Canadian version. I'm not sure how to proceed considering I'm trying to use the phone on Aio/At&t, and suggestions?
Thank you, thank you. This is the farthest I've gotten I've been using a SGH-I437Z=Crapola.

Lol not sure anything I said helped. I think u must've wiped /firmware or /firmware_MDM right? I only meant to do that if u were going to flash a stock fw as it would replace those parts automatically. I think u lost ur non.hlos.bin file... Flashing a stock fw will bring it back. U can wipe everything again from philz if u want and try an Odin flash again using my instructions from the last post. Also, u want to flash a stock fw that uses the same base as the rom ur planning to flash, i.e. if u restore using a stock KitKat ROM (NC1), then ur gonna wanna make sure u flash a KitKat rom afterwards as the Knox BL won't let u downgrade.
As for which carrier fw to choose, the hardware is the same in all the Canadian variants, so any will work, although I think u were on a bell fw originally cuz of the MG1 suffix.

You helped me quite a bit. Thank you. I reflashed Philz recovery with odin, then installed Vision X. I'm not sure what MDM or non.hlos.bin fiels are for. I don't want to use Odin with this phone. Searching the forums seems like this phone and odin don't get along when flashing a full ROM. I'd prefer to do all flashing using recovery. Now I just need to find the right stock zip.

Searching the forums seems like this phone and odin don't get along when flashing a full ROM. I'd prefer to do all flashing using recovery. Now I just need to find the right stock zip.

No problem. Ya I guess the recovery zips could work just as well as the Odin tar.md5's would. I've just never used a recovery to flash a stock rom before.
Fwiw I have the same phone as u and have used Odin plenty, with positive results, although I've heard that peoples experiences with it vary a great deal. Having the right USB drivers installed on ur PC is key tho if u do use it.
Rom or Firmware?

I have it booting into Maple Leaf now. Still trying to figure out if my performance issues are kernel, modem, or maybe its just KitKat?
My next phone is going to be a developer edition.

What was the current system you had NB1 Or NC1? I have reflashed my phone plenty of times and if the screen is turning on it's only soft bricked
By the way, you cannot unlock your bootloader! You must use safestrap 3.72 for 4.4.2 for a recovery
I guess it don't matter. Check out this thread

Sounds like you need to flash Odin then start over with the root and rom process. Start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55338138

thank you for pointing me to this post . i was actually able to get out of that black screen by holding the power button n volume button :good::highfive:
if you are mdl and rooted with a good recovery, you got that message after flashing cwm or any other recovery/rom/kernel that is not loki'd.
research loki-doki. it is an exploit we on mdl need to flash after flashing a non loki'd "file". it bypasses sammy's security check.
most TW roms here in att forum are already loki'd
a lot of like TWRP 2.5.0.2 recovery. i have flashable zip if interested--if you do flash it don't fomat data where you have to select "Yes" and if get a warning root was lost, tap on "Do Not Fix". a couple bugs in it that have been fixed in newer versions, but other than that I have no issues flashing any roms--
:good:
So, first,
Thanks all in advance.. You are amazing.. I, and so many others have learnt so much from you and your support.
Now,
I have a Canadian n900w8
http://www.mrcrab.net/viewstockrom/10688-sm-n900w8.html
I was so happy at that ROM,and was playing around.. Learning.. And ran into problems..
I made a stupid mistake, really.. Now I don't know how to get out..
I installed a 4.4.4 boot loader.. And flashed with Phil's, back to my 4.4.2 fine, was testing.. So ten I tried a 4.4.4 ROM, and the boot loader.. Worked.. And then some how I lost my recovery, now no matter what I do I can't get a recovery to load.. I have the ROM working, except the modem does work.. Its rooted.. And I can flash a little with flashify, or Odin.. But there are only att2 recoveries.. For 4.4.4 and any TLS recoveries are for 4.4.2..
Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks all in advance..
I already know I'm a noon, no sence reminding me, that's why I'm here..
as far as i know i can still odin back to my normal firmware,
is that correct?
it's been 3 days, i've been trying to download the right one, but most of the mirrors are brokens..
I'm currently Downloading at 35k from one.. so if it's just that simple,
I'll post back so people know..
There seems to be allot of confusion about bootloaders...
as far as i understand though, the one i flashed witih wasn't locked, so..
I think I can still odin to stock..

1. Download and unzip the latest firmware for your device: HERE.
2. Remember untick autoreboot in ODIN. Wait till the flash finish. Reboot your device in Recovery Mode and Wipe data/Factory reset your device. Reboot now normally.
3. Install this APPhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=en and take a look the part that tells "BOOTLOADER" for clarify things then.
Thanks.

Thanks,
Like I said I have been trying to do that, but i apreciate you conferming it will work..
unfortunately, samMobile has just broken links to the rom...
I'm on my forth attempt, downloading froma source with 45k...
Why sammobiles got broken dl's I don't know, but it really has made this experience draw out.
Thanks Again,
Peace.
thanks man. everything worked out, thanks for the reassurances, bricked stuff is scary...
for everyone else with a telus note...
i spent 3 days trackingn the stock firmware, so i'm uploading it to a site, and will post it here sometime soon..
Dear Xda peoples,
i decided to root and install a custom ROM after owning my note 3 for a couple of months,
running android 5.0 lollipop this is my first rooting & custom OS experience ever...
so far i have managed to unroot my device, checked and tested this superuser acces and such !
so the next step was to flash a custom recovery to my note 3, i tried 2 ways.
1 was by Heimfield or something, after alot of trouble withouth any particulair results
2 was a clockwork recovery by odin and this succeeded according to ODIN....
next step was BOOTING in recovery mode.... pressing volume up, home and power button at the same time..
there is just no way i get it into recovery at this point. it starts downloading mode and gets stuck into this mode untill i re-flash the recovery and let the device auto reboot by ODIN setting....
i tried taking out the battery for a few seconds and didnt manage to get into recovery from this point either.....
i've managed to get it into recovery before. once and this was the stock recovery.... not the clockwork one...might have been overwriten as i have read...
please HELP ! i really want a taste of cyanogenmod on my device
What model and what recovery did you flash .
But you should start by reading the faqs and guides before blundering into bricked phone land.
Custom recovery custom rom voids your warranty knox tripped no way back on N9005.

i tried to put on n900-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-kk(0812), also tried n900-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-(0812).
followed a youtube tutorial with the exact same model as i had.
thanks in advance !
You have a N9005 and you flash a product for a different phone N900 . Please read and understand the basics .
thank you for your reply.
the DL link on the website said 'Download CM11 ROM for Galaxy Note 3 (for T-Mobile SM-N900T, Sprint SM-N900P, Canadian SM-N900W8, or SM-N9005)'
aslo these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454079 show 'for galaxy note N9005'
You said n900
Try TWRP Recovery .
Same problem as stephannote3
whoa...so frustrated...been trying this for 3 evenings....reading, re-reading...just thinking I'm missing something so minute (e.g. when I pull the battery out...do I need to "unplug" as well)?
Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900P 5.0 version (lollipop)...build number LRX21V.N900PVPUEOC5. Done everything as instructed....even pulled battery out
Because I can't get into CWM recovery...I can't make a backup either (possibly considering "unrooting" and starting over)?
Please help...I'm trying to root so that I may tether...?
You have a Sprint then post in the Sprint forum .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3
i tried: 'openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.7-hlte.img'
when i try to start up in recovery mode (volume up+ power+ home ) it tries to start up in recovery mode but fails.....
gives me 3 lines of text with the midle one saying 'RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID FORCING'
Please... HELP
