I guess if u go inside framework-res.apk, there will be drawable ldpi & drawable mdpi folders. Btw if u wanna change only pngs & xmls, then u can do it in ur phone itself. U just need a superb app called Ninjamorph.apk
Hope this helps...!!

I don't know but you want to use a framework-res.apk from a Samsung Note? You do understand not only that framework-res.apk is for another device, its for a modded framework of a rom for another device. Unless you want to crack open the apk and look at the code/images but even the images wouldn't work I think. Update.zip won't help you, needs to be properly ported.
Cheers

I am no themer or dev. So I don't know. I've never really looked much in to the xml files in the apk either so I wouldn't know. Everything can be ported with enough knowledge, patience and time

Hi guyz,
First things about my device
~Deodexed Maximus ROM {Alpha}
~Tweaked
~My own Kernel
~And most of all... Bricked
How are y'all? I am making a custom Gaming ROM as mentioned before in the android development section. I am having a big issue here, it's that I modified framework-res.apk and I tried pushing through ADB but it Bricked. I even tried to flash it but no luck! You guys know I can't PM everyone as it takes so much time so... I need your help!
Also I tried to modify system apps like Gallery3D.apk or Settings.apk but all I get is that app disappears from my app drawer.
I know how to modify .9.png files, I take the reference from draw9patch. Any help would be Highly Appreciated!
Thanks & Regards,

As I have seen in many custom roms! In the framework folder like in hyperion has hyperion-res.apk.... What are the uses of keeping this file and How to use them... I am developing a rom thats why I am asking these questions... Like in a Lockscreen mod or a Statusbar mod its provided with the hyperion-res.apk but why... How does a rom simply usethat ap? Pls. someone pls. Guide me through this stuff so that I can improve my rom!
My main question is where are these resource apk's defined? Like isit namedin the framework-res.apk or twframework-res.apk? Pls. This Answer shouldbe withtechnosavie, Ganesh A, yash989, CarlDeanCatabay or someone else who knows this stuff And if like someone made a status bar mod for hyperion it contains hyperion-res.apk if I rename it to "rom-res.apk" Will it work? Pls. Provide me an answer!

rom-res file is the toggle file.Whenever you change the the rom-res,you just replace the toggles file with a new one.
"A fool flatters himself but a wise flatters the fool" - Doctor VC
They are used to store res files like icons drawables etc for the rom's toolbox were you customize the rom...
They basically have the lockscreen and quick toggle data.. resources nd layouts
depends on what it is declared,
i can make a lozer.apk and it is a interface pack for the whole android system,
depends on how it is declared in the xmls

Hey guys, i write this thread to ask you if i need to resize stuff in a theme from Galaxy Ace to apply it to my Galaxy Y Stockrom ?
If yes, how can i do ?
I'm talking about this theme : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42327086&postcount=1739&nocache=1&z=2644779603544356
Made by Slayer321, all credit goes to him, i simply wanted to know if i can put this theme in my rom because i love Xperia UI and i liked his work.
Thanks you all for answer to my questions
almost certainly you would need to resize
ace is mdpi and galaxy y is ldpi
rezise the pngs and some layout xmls might have to be resized

apktool is to decompile the apk to edit xml layouts
remember google is your friend - do some searching
every apk is different you will have to read and understand the layouts - best to flash it first then you can see what needs changing

My advice : Download the theme from the thread and flash it as it is.When you are booted with the theme, check out what are the problems in the theme. If there are FC's in apps, sign then with the help of android multitool. If the themed apps are not fitting the screen, resize the PNG's with the help of any good photo editing software.
You can search google 'How to port themes' or you can go to the 'Android Themes' section on XDA,make a thread and ask there. Some experienced people might help you more than us!

Sorry this question is too general
First you need to decide what exactly it is you want to do
Next type into google what it is you want to do and add xda on the end (you can add galaxy y on the end too if you want to search galaxy y threads) - eg how to add brightness slider xda galaxy y

I cant because I dont have the apk nor can I really help you - you will just have to look through the xml untill you come across the line for thing you wish to change the height of
Same for the png - look through the res folder untill you see the png you wish to change

then look in the framework - probably in styles.xml
you can try <item name="listPreferredItemHeight">64.0dip</item>
I presume thats the gap between items in a list/the height of each item

most likely will require smali change as the smali will probably refer to a public value for the png or it could be a case of it just being refered as a drawable value in a drawable/layout xml - again you will have to look
without knowledge or understanding of what you are looking at it will be very hard for you to do - sorry
