[Q] Am I the only one not thrilled? - One (M8) General

I came from a galaxy s3 I'd gotten two years ago. From the time I'd gotten it I had a custom de-bloated rom on it.
It's now been about 3 weeks since I acquired a brand new One m8. I must admit that I am not impressed one bit. I feel like I'm the only one. Why is that, because I can go down a pretty long list and only find a few things where the m8 comes out ahead, and I don't mean some specs on paper. I'm talking about differences that you can see which would justify paying $650 versus just getting a cheaper brand new s3. If I had the choice, I'd never have upgraded at all.

I think it's a great phone and could go through a long list of reasons why, as well as why it does in fact come out ahead(don't worry I won't bore you with that right now lol). Point is, different things for different people; maybe this particular phone just isn't you cup of tea....you can always trade it in/sell it and get an s5. But as for me, I adore this phone and think it was worth every single cent.

I could of gone through things that made the S3 inadequate when it first came out, and I almost loved it when it first came out, but it's all subjective.
Personally the S4 was a mile behind the M7 especially in speed and stability and I doubt the S5 is any less laggy.
Have to say Samsung got the S2 just right at just the right time then lost me at the S3 onwards.

A two year old phone that has slightly less horsepower and costs hundreds less. I know, S3 should be burned at the steak for being such a heathen. It was by far not the perfect phone. Neither is the One. They're very, very similar unless you count less screen real estate from on-screen buttons and the One having a bit faster processor and more memory.

Buying a Nexus One

Ok i have a G1 right now and am thinking of buying a Nexus one. Just wondering if ppl are happy with their phone and think that it is a good phone to upgrade too. I have seen mixed reviews on the phone and am not sure if it is a phone to move to. I know it is faster and all but is it one of the best daily phones out there to move too. I have to pay full price for it so thats why i am asking. My t-mobile upgrade isn't here yet but i really like the phone in the videos i see. I am just wanting to know if it would be a good buy.
I'm happy with mine coming from an Iphone 3g. It's fast, stable and does everything i need it to. I love the hi-res oled screen, but truth be told I bought it for its potential. For the next year or so, you can be assured that your flagship phone will be getting all the android goodies. It looks to be an exciting time as Android matures, and I'm going to be a part of it.
The only negative reviews I read of this phone were pretty early, and by people who didn't own the phone (though all seemed to have iPhones).

True that, If you are familiar with android you will love this phone. Also Cyanogen Mod 5 Beta 2 is out now add more features and making the phone even faster. A lot of the negative reviews seem to be from iPhone fanboys or people who are too stubborn to get used to android. I recommend you get it ASAP.
Highly recommend this awesome bad boy There are a bunch of prior threads here with all the Pro's, Good Scoop, etc...
Coming from a G1 as well I would say, functionally, the Nexus is basically the same. It will just be much faster and have a nicer camera/screen. Since you're coming from a G1, you'll probably just be using the same apps you were before. You probably won't notice much of a diff except for the increased speed.

The speed boost is worth it though.
I currently have a G1 as well and I just bought my phone so it will arrive to me by tomorrow I knew this was the phone I've been looking for so I didn't hesitate and just bought it.
I convinced a good friend of mine as well and he's also a happy camper with the phone. He too came from using a G1.
to sum it up.. buy it
I also came from a G1.
So far I love the Nexus. I just got mine yesterday so I don't have a lot of time with it but it is really fast and a much better phone than the G1.

Paying full price for a device

So I am wanting a new android device..
The aria pops up for a few reasons.
1. It has gained huge praise.
2. It supposedly has great battery life!
3. It is relatively cheap for off of contract. (339$ on amazon)
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me anything bad about it.. I hear that it has a bad speaker.. or that bad speakers are a problem.. That is the only "constant" i've seen for it besides stuff that people argue over..
I was wondering if anyone out there had this phone and the captivate and could give me a break down of which one goes faster while doing the same things..
Like if your playing robo defense on aria and captivate which one goes faster? Which one do you find last longer over all normally?
Even paying full price for the device should I consider just paying another 160$ or so and getting the captivate? For some reason I find myself looking and thinking the Captivate is a better deal with an upgrade vs the free aria..
But, the aria feels like a better deal off contract.. (I could be wrong here.. but, feel free to agree/disagree)
To be honest I would love to get a captivate but, I am worried that in the future.. the Aria could possibly receive more updates than captivate.. I am not against samsung products mind you, they make spectacular hardware and I'm usually happy with it right out the box..
However, even if captivate gets 2.2... What about 2.3? I can see aria getting 2.3 and captivate being left behind... However, I see captivates hardware more likely to support a 3.0 than the aria.. but, that doesn't matter if samsung won't do it..
I do realize the captivate is a gorgeous phone with a lot of advantages.. but, I'm due for an upgrade in feb.. I really want a better phone than my pay as you go neon (i'm on contract just using a cheap cellphone since my last got washed). And by feb they will probably have something all around better than captivate anyway..
Although it does slightly annoy me.. I'm not a fan of otter box but, I was kinda hoping they might have a defender series case for the aria..
So I think it just makes more sense to buy the cheaper one now.. and then later on... grab the best of the best in terms of upgrade.. (see if I can make the aria last a year or two.. and if I can't.. well just upgrade later then..)
The HTC Aria is a fantastic phone, I own one and I too purchased it because of the low price tag, and because I'm still locked into a contract with AT&T. Right off the bat, you're going to have to acknowledge that the Android phones AT&T carries arent going to measure up to some of the more expensive phones sold by other carriers, but if you're stuck with AT&T you may as well enjoy your phone right?
The key difference between the Aria and the Captivate is size. The Aria has a somewhat tiny screen, don't get me wrong, its plenty screenspace, its just that Android phones are notorious for their large touch screens. From my experience, the HTC Aria has one of the best touch screens I've ever seen. Its ultra responsive, and typing with the stock keyboard (If you dont want to use Swype) feels natural and easy. The Samsung Captivate is of the Galaxy S line of phones, all of which come with their new AMOLED screens, which, in a nutshell, have fantastic contrast and anti-glare, and blacks that are so deep, you cant distinguish the screen from the phone. It doesnt really sound fantastic, and before I'd seen one in real life I thought it was just another LED gimmick, but they are BEAUTIFUL screens, my father bought the Captivate to smite me for saving up all summer for an Aria (lol), and its a beautiful phone. Typing is easy and the touch screen is very responsive, though for some reason I still think the Aria has a better touch screen.
As far as the processors go, yes, the Aria runs a 600mhz processor, while the Captivate is running the new Snapdragon 1ghz. The thing is, apples to apples, they're phones. The Aria has all the power it needs, its a small phone that only has to draw so many pixels, and calculate so much, so the 600mhz in comparison to bigger processors is absolutely fine, if you're a speedfreak like myself, you may be put off by not having the fastest, sleekest phone, but its amazing nonetheless. The Captivate 1ghz processor is, well, fast lol. It can handle a lot and the phone comes preloaded with Live wallpapers and a beautiful UI from Samsung.
I'm not really sure what else I can say, but really, just buy whichever you can afford. If you dont want to fork over the 500 odd dollars for the Captivate, theres no need to "settle" for the Aria, you can still love it
Whichever you buy, they're both amazing phones, so just get whichever one you're comfortable buying.
______________
Sorry I kind of rambled, as far as you asking what's BAD about the Aria? Nothing really, the speaker sounds fine, I mean yeah, if you try playing a movie off of it, its going to crackle because phones simply cant handle bass very well, but for calling and playing ringtones and notification sounds (i.e., doing everything a phone should) its a high quality speaker. If you want to listen to music or watch movies, the sound is bearable, but you'd probably want to have some headphones just in case. Oh and the Aria doesnt support Live Wallpapers by default, nor does it come loaded with Swype. It also has Wifi Tethering disabled, and loading apps that arent on the market is disabled by AT&T, but you can solve these problems:
By rooting your phone you can:
-WiFi and USB Tethering
-Sideloading apps (non-market apps)
---Swype
---Live Wallpapers
However, sideloading apps is possible if you have a computer, just install the Android SDK and put the app files in the 'tools' directory inside the Android SDK and using the command "adb install filename.apk" to install non-market apps from your computer.
Snow Fox,
Thanks for posting this. I'm much the same situation that you are in with my Tilt2. Only have an entire year to go before I'm eligible for an upgrade. I've been playing with XDAndroid and would love get a full blown Android device.
While I had been holding out to see WP7 (and At&t) had to offer, the more I learn about WP7 the less I'm liking it. So its either the Captivate, Aria, or a used Nexus One.
There is something else for you to consider... check with your local At&t store, the last I enquired the rep told me that IF you have a good record of paying your bills on time, they can give you a deal of $75 over the listed contract price. So if the Aria lists for $129, you could get it for $184.
OK I won't write up a huge essay but I'll give you my quick opinion.
In march I upgraded from an old motorola L6 to the backflip, AT&T's very first android phone! I really loved that phone. Soon I became frustrated because the poor little guy only runs android 1.5 and I was unable to install many of the cool apps that I would read about. after waiting for about three months, to see if the backflip could get rooted by someone I caved in. I went down to AT&T and bought myself a brand new Aria, I had to pay the full price since I had used my upgrade on the backflip and I was passed the 30 day return period.
I was trying to decide between a Nexus One or the Aria. I chose the Aria because I thought it would be a great phone to have for a year or two while a really great phone came out on my carrier. It wasn't SUPER pricey like the N1 would have been, and it can really handle anything that you throw at it. To this day I haven't regretted buying my Aria.
I <3 my Aria.
I won't list the cons with the Aria, as I just got mine yesterday and haven't had time to really investigate the minor issues against it, so here's the reasons I did use my upgrade credit to get one:
#1 It's smaller and significantly lighter than the Fuze it has replaced. I have no ass, and without a belt, quite simply, the fuze pulls my shorts down. TMI, I know, but there you go. Anyway, the aria is so much lighter and compact that I have found I forget which pocket I put it in. The ladies are thankful for the reduction in appearance of "plumber pants".
#2 Despite the slower processor, it still does everything I need it to do with the utmost of smoothness. No more second guessing whether it detected my actions, pressing again, only to have it catching up to do things I didn't actually want. My Fuze does that a lot!
#3 It's ultimately as hackable as any other HTC phone on here, with a gaggle of devoted phone nerds anxious and ready to apply the latest mod, patch, or fix, there WILL be plenty of life left to exploit in it's features and OS (at least until the next contract re-up anyway).
#4 Lastly, despite the lower resolution of the screen and smaller size relative to other phones, a cell phone will likely never be central to my TV/movie watching experience no matter how good or large the screen, nor will I ever worry too much about games. There are simply far better devices available devoted to such entertainment such as a PSP. And while some phones may be approaching that level of sophistication, they all appear to be doing it at the expense of reason #1.
The Galaxy is too big and too expensive in my book, making the extra performance simply not worth it.
I'd prefer to buy my phone outright used versus extending my contract 2 years. After researching online, for my first android device, I was definitely going to buy a captivate until I saw an Aria for $150 on craigslist. I picked up the Aria and have since used a galaxy s and I couldn't justify the price difference. The galaxy feels cheap, I don't like touchwiz, and I'd prefer HTC over Samsung.
I'd definitely check craigslist before buying new. I thought my price was a fluke but I've been using CraigsNotifica, on my aria, and I've seen several arias under $200.
There's really nothing bad about the aria imo. The captivate is probably better for games/mobile entertainment due to screen size & processor, but those aren't high up on my priority list. I can't feel a difference in speed in everyday use, plus theres a perfectly working version of cyanogenmod out for the aria already.

Nexus One, still worth it?

Hey guys,
need a bit help, well technically my friend does. hes on the market for a new phone and hes quite in love with my nexus one (im def not gonna sell it though! haha). The only concern is whether the nexus one is too old now. He loves the build quality of the nexus one but is worried if its money well spent. He found a mint tmo version for about 320, but at the same time hes wondering if he should just wait and jump to att to buy a atrix or even an iphone 4. So bias aside, is the nexus one still worthy of a 300+ price tag? honestly?
i know its googles baby but what if google does what apple did with their 1st gen iphone. what if 2.3 will be the last upgrade available before google end of lifes the n1.
honestly does your friend give two craps if the nexus one gets an update or not? prob not. anyway my frient recently asked me the same thing, he loved my nexus one and was gonna buy one. he ended up not gettting anything but he was about to do it and found one near him on craigslist and all.
i dont think its a bad idea, i still think its the best phone out there i cant find one i like better yet which is why i keep mine. great build, awesome looking, color trackball, where else can that be found?
I wouldn't sell my phone or recommend a Nexus One to a friend knowing that the power button would certainly fail and the touchscreen will give them issues.
For those reasons i couldn't recommend this phone to anybody!
I switched phones every month for a year, everything having some flaw. I've had this thing since June. No touchscreen issue, no power button issue. Pure Google, piece of art. Get it, keep it, love it.
I just bought my 2nd one (the At&t version). I first bought one on the first day they released the ATT version, but then I sold it to switch carriers. I've been back on ATT for about 6 months now and I've missed my N1, so I just ordered another one from eBay.
I've had the Captivate and the Surround and I still want my N1 back.
It should be here today
DirkGently1: if it was how you're saying, the N1 should have been dropped out the market long ago. I've got mine and got not a single problem (but the touch axis problem, which is not felt not playing on my phone).
I'd suggest the N1, because it doesn't cost like the Nexus S, but still is Google Experience. If only the Nexus S had been pumped up a little more, I'd think about it as my next phone, but dual cores are behind the corner, Nexus S will be overtaken very soon... but still I'd prefere a Nexus S 'cause it's GE.
The N1 is a great phone and I still love mine BUT if I were in the market for a new phone right now I would wait till the dual cores comes out which should be very soon.

its not high on his list but he would prefer something that isn't going to be neglected on updates.
like you guys stated, the dual cores is what hes worried about. with it being so close around the corner, would it be smart investing in year old (while advanced, its still a year old) tech? he just loves the design and quality of the nexus one but hes not sure if that is worth sacrificing the processer and other upgrades in different departments.
im just stuck on whether i should encourage him getting this phone, which is no doubt awesome but old, or wait it out.

If he really likes the design and there's nothing else out there he wants, then I would say go for it for that price.
The way I look at it is if he can get a year out of it and be happy with it, then there will be better things out there a year from now anyway.
I've had my N1 since day-2 (had to wait for overnight shipping! ). It's more integrated into my life now, then when I first got it.
...But, I'm definitely starting to keep my eye out for the next thing. The N1 is already starting to show signs of being passed on from Google (ie the current delay on getting official Gingerbread to us!), whereas the Nexus S is the current poster-boy.
If your friend requires no-contract phone and ~$300 is his budget? Well, that's just about a no-brainer that the N1 is recommended.
Other than that, I'd tell them to hold until the Duals become a little more prevalent and then start looking... Who knows, maybe the Nexus Two with Dual-Core (get it, it's a Nexus TWO and it has TWO cores! ) will come out
I love my N1, but wouldn't pay $300 for it right now. It's nice to hear that the resale value is still up there (speaks volumes for HTC's build quality) but honestly, there are much better options out there right now.
If your friend is out of contract, he can pick up a G2 for free from T-Mobile with a 2-year contract. Other than the flimsy keyboard hinge, it beats the Nexus One in almost every category spec-wise. If you're worried about updates - G2 is just as unlockable and rootable as N1, with support from custom ROMs nowhere near stopping.
If your friend doesn't want a carrier-subsidized phone, then his best bet would be waiting a few months until the next generation of dual-core handsets start showing up en masse. Yes, they will be almost twice the price of a used N1 at that point, but that would be money well spent.
Dual cores are fine and dandy, but I would not jump on the first available models.
Nobody knows how is the battery usage or is there are any other esotheric bugs introduced by the new SMP platform.

Good point. It's always a good idea to wait until the early adopters report in with issues. Power savings of dual-core processors is a fact on laptops and nettops, but yet remains to be proven on the mobile chip architectures. It's good to see manufacturers shipping larger batteries too (1930 mAh on Atrix), but only time will tell.
I bought a N1 right when it came out and loved it, then I got an hd2 and its the best phone I've ever had period, but the nexus one is definitely one amazing phone

Well, there is a concept of saving power by going multi-core and undervoting/underclocking at the same time. In theory you get more mips per watt.
But it has several relatively major ifs and buts.
First, you need to have something significant to process. The smartphone apps ten to be quite lean on processing anyway. Nobody uses their phones for prolonged number crunching sessions, the processing demand comes in short "spikes".
Second, those spikes should be parallelizable. Which is far from granted.
Third, you need to save more power than you burn on second chip. It is not only CPU itself, but also all this common glue logic around it which gets more complicated than in single core case.
Which altogether does not look like a sure deal to me. It can easily happen, that such dualcore device will greatly improve on video decoding battery life, but get even more miserable than usual standby times. Huge Attrix battery somehow does not look like a good sign to me.
In my opinion the hottest candidate for the second core would be a garbage collector. Which (if properly implemented) could dramatically improve the overall "smoothness" of the phone.
But something similar to the hyperthreading would do the trick too.
As of N1: I bought it when my Magic was starting going slooooow on recent versions of Android. My Nexus One is still highly responsive, and this is what I personally need for my daily usage. And I love to program tools on it: the screen is not small nor too big, it's just "perfect".
I think it depends on what you really want. In fact, I also thought the price of N1 is a little expense. But I still bought it since I really like it, no matter the appearance or the hardware configuration. For me, it's not too old, but your friend need make the decision by himself~~~

There is another feature of these new dual-core chips, is that one of the cores can be toggled on demand. No sense in burning both cores if you're just checking e-mail or syncing calendars/social statuses, but a resource-hungry media app or a 3D game for example would spin up that 2nd core.

I'm feeling the exact opposite. Manufacturers are starting to realize that people actually use their phones for longer periods of time, and no matter how power-efficient you make them, a larger battery is always a good idea.

i dunno nexus vs g2 i take the nexus still, g2 is bulky and laggy compared to N1 plus with tzones/web2go its a no brainer... N1 son!
Bought the desire hd a few months back but still im on my n1... dhd cant match the speed n pure google experience... luv the n1 sooo much i'll go so far as to say its the best phone i have ever owned...

So looking to upgrade to a new phone soon...

I wanted to get people's opinions about the Note II.
Do you guys like the phone?
What is the state of the roms do they have full functionality of the s-pen?
Do the roms have the ability to hot spot?
How difficult is this to root (i have rooted all my devices from the original evo to the 3d, and nexus 7, and etc) does this fall into the average difficulty or does it get odd (jubunto wire trick...)
Is the moding community active/healthy?
I know these are a lot of questions, but but my evo 3d is dying and I might have to etf my line loose my phone number in order to replace this(unless I want to rebuild my system two times once when I get my evo repaired and once when I can upgrade in April..) if I am going to do that I want to make a smart decision on a phone that can last me the full two year term on my contract.
Anyone that can and does help thanks in advance.

If u want a new phone which u gona keep for 2 years, I strongly suggest that u must wait a bit coz if u buy note 2 now then u'll feel bad when they launch new phones at CES.

Also, you might want to ask in the Sprint Note II forum, this is for the international Note II, so the hot spot business is better answered there.

There is only ONE thing which can go wrong with this phone; since Samsung is not releasing the soruce code for Exynos chipset, developers are having hard time for making daily suitable ROMs and if Samsung suddenly decides to cut updates off after -say- 1 year than Note 2 starts to age rapidly because of the lack of the up-to-date ROMs. But if we look at the SGS2's past it seems like that is not the case. So, nothing to worry about I guess. .
You will not regret buying this phone! When you get used to the bigger screen, it is just too awesome!
To answer one of your questions, it is super simple to root. I believe you can find the program in the dev section
Best android phone so far for me. Had a lot of high ends but note2 was and is the best. Rooting is easy, dont need big knowledge just need to learn to use google or xda search and read a bit. Note 2 community isnt so big now but later it will increase, same as was for other phones, just need more time. If you are not smartphones geek, note 2 could last you even more than 2 years, it is fast, good hardware, nice software additions. You wont regret ;D
Trollol. I would just like to answer 1 question,
It's not HTC difficult to root this phone
Note 2 best handset there is ... stay clear of htc !

you won't regret it. It'll take about 1 day to get use to the phone size after that every other phone will feel too small and like a toy.
I wouldn't even say, "wait for CES". This phone is so capable and powerful it'll still be better than 95% of anything coming at CES. And will easly last you 2 years.
buy it. NOW
omega rom v9. 1 kalgas mixed theme
thought i might put my opinion for you
I have had HTC's for years
TYTN, TYTNII, Touch HD, Desire then Sensation XE
I was used to Rooting HTC's and was flashing roms pretty often trying to get the best battery and performance and when i saw a mate with a Note II i wanted one but was a bit worried with the rooting etc.
Now after using the Toolkit and making Backups of EFS and Nand etc and then rooting , and now just yesterday flashing the latest XXDLL4 rom its turned out to be pretty easy.
As regards to the phone even though it has a bigger screen the battery life is amazing compared to any HTC i have had (a friend has a HTC One X and he struggles to get a day even with light usage ) but i use the note for everything even playing a fair amount of games and youtube vids etc and so far i have not run low on battery before the end of the day .
the speed is superb it just does not feel laggy at all and it's great to actually have 2gb ram as i no longer have to worry about memory management at all.
At first the big screen was weird but after a day or so i could not go back to anything smaller, you just get used to it and then realise that the biiger screen just gives you so much (although i use nova launcher to take advantage of the space)
the Spen is a good feature but not one that i have used a great deal but when i want to write notes its much easier to use the pen rather than my finger.
if i had one issue it is with the size as its difficult to use onehanded but i'm getting used to that.
In conclusion its by far the best Phone i have owned and with all of the HTC phones i have owned i have always looked at the next phones due for release but with this one i cant say that i would look to replace it for quite a while.
Best phone on the market!

But I'm thinking from what you guys said that it would be worth the switch as seeing as how adding a line is activation charge free till the seventh and seeing as how best buy price matches and this phone is going for 199 on both amazon and Frys I need to bite the bullet and jump on this train.
Or would you guys wave me off if the price tag included a new phone number?
Thanks,
Adan

For the second consecutive month, the Samsung Galaxy Note II dominated in both the People's Choice Chart and Mobile Tech Expert's Chart in PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™. It went uncontested all month long, never straying from the #1 position. For the time being, the Samsung Galaxy Note II shows no signs of slowing down or surrendering its top spot in the charts.
For the month of December, the Samsung Galaxy Note II proved it was a force to be reckoned with. It held first place in the People's Choice Chart and Mobile Tech Expert's Chart for each week throughout the month.

Yes, you are going to love this phone.
Feel happy with the note 2, big screen, long battery time, fast cpu, 2gigs of ram(really really smooth), write instead of typing anymore, fully feeling its power using s note, floating things, its just the first smartphone that I feel it is really smart :victory:
I'm really close to buying the note 2. The only things stopping me is that the phone has been out for some months now, since September. And I'm a bit worried everyone is going to jump ship when the Sony Yuga (because of sources) and Galaxy S4 (because of hardware) come out.
Goddamnit, I can't decide.
Lol. The next big thing is always around the corner. You could be enjoying a note 2 right now and watch from the side lines comfortably for at least a year right now. I don't want to jump right in to A15 chip sets til they've matured a bit and see who utilizes it the best. I am pretty sure by September/October next year all the big phones will be out except perhaps the next nexus.

Hehe yea I know. It's just that the note 2 has been out for almost 4 months, and it's not like the price has dropped that much, here in denmark. And it seems that the exynos sources aren't coming out, which could add to the lifespan of the phone.
On the other hand, the note has a pen and a huge battery. Decisions, decisions.

Get it. Its that good as is. This coming from a guy that has had 3 nexii. You can freeze mist of the bloat, freeze Samsung's ****ty keyboard and put Google's 4.2 keyboard on and you're good to go.

Best phone ever

Just sold my S6. Here's why.....

I owned the phone for just over 2 weeks.
First of all, I like android because it's not IOS. I don't like Apple. The whole Apple company annoys me.
I used to get annoyed when I heard Apple where suing Samsung for copying there patents, so on and so forth.
I couldn't help but notice straight away how much the S6 looked like IPhone 6, especially at the bottom of the phone (speaker grille).
Then I started looking at what Samsung have done, they took away what made them stand out.
They took away removable battery, and give us a very average size battery, but push wireless charges.
Worst of all they took away micro SD card!!!! Wtf
Then Samsung ask for a ridiculous price for different versions 32gb.....64gb.....128gb....... That's what apple does.
I used to be able to pick up 64gb micro SD card on sale for about $30. That option has gone.
The battery life on the S6 is poor. Let's be honest, everything I read tells me to turn off all sorts of features to make the battery last longer. It's a smart phone. I might as well buy a Motorola RAZR flip phone.
I'm just so disappointed Samsung have taken a huge step backwards and become who they used to fight. (IOS).
The fast Charging feature is cool, only if you want to carry your wall adapter and cable round with you all day, just incase!!!! The branded Samsung wireless charger should have come with the phone, not a $59.99 extra fee.
The only thing I will miss is the camera. It was excellent. But that's it.
Touchwiz was still sluggish, I experienced redraws more than I should have, and I still found it bloated with battery hogging apps.
I'm sick of Samsung. This is just my opinion remember.

You just perfectly outlined all the exact reasons I almost didn't get the S6 to begin with. Every year I can't wait to see the next Galaxy S, and this year Samsung made an iPhone running Android. Even though I hate Apple, my iPad is a huge part of my work and personal use, so I decided that the S6 had failed enough that it was time to just switch to iPhone 6+ and join the sheep.
BUT... I didn't. And the only reason I didn't was because it was time for me to upgrade now and I didn't want to get the iPhone 6 with the new one coming in Sept., leaving me with an old phone for two years. (I don't know where you are, but remember that in the US most of us are on 2 year phone plans.) So I just got the S6.
And I'm loving it. And I know I'd love the iPhone less. But I hate supporting Samsung making bad decisions.
Sorry but this is such a useless thread. Everyone of your reasons were very well know before launch. Yet you bought it anyway. Non of that was at all a suprise. Sorry your unsatisfied but you knew what you were buying.
We just need freaking root. God, I can't stand seeing all these useless apps running in my phone.
I hate at&t.
In my opinion they finally did something right for the first time in the last two years. People were always complaining about the build quality of Samsung phones. They finally build IMO a very nice phone, yes they did copy the looks of the iPhone a bit, but it looks great. One thing that did always bug me was the speaker being on the back of the phone. Now its on the bottom producing better sound when watching videos or listening to music.

None of the people I know that bought Galaxies had a problem with the build - it's always just been the iTurds that say how "bad" and "cheap" Samsungs are compared to their precious. I never had a problem or concern with the plastic body.
As for the new speaker placement, it's horrible. I'm constantly accidentally covering it just from natural hand placement when watching videos horizontally.

I haven't had a problem covering the speaker on my S6 or my iPhone 6 when I had it.

Countless reviews on YouTube where saying how debloated it is, how it's the best touch wiz ever!! Maybe the obligated to say that??!
However it still felt like touch wiz to me, lag, redraws.....
In Canada 32gb model costs $750. The 64gb model costs $860!!! That's what annoys me, I can buy a 32gb micro SD card for a third of that 110$ jump.
Samsung have copied everything Apple has done, and it's pathetic.

Look..I don't doubt your reasons for being unhappy but like I said..it's been covered! That horse is dead and beaten. No reason to stick a shotgun to its head.
My PERSONAL experience is this is the best phone I've used hands down. I had a droid turbo, spent a week with the m9 and have had plenty of time with my wife's iphone 6. The s6 wins hands down.. for my needs.
From your complaints maybe the g4 will be a better fit for you

Right...because apple has 2k screens, ir blasters, a payment system with MST support, multiwindow, etc. Please, Samsung is way out in front and Apple is trying to play catchup. Wish a mod would come and rid of this useless thread.

Exactly what i was thinking. He knew the S6 didn't have a removable battery yet he bought it. He knew the S6 didn't have a micro sd slot yet he bought it. He knew the price of the S6 yet he bought then turns around and complain.

This, +1.
Gee... if only there were a way to ignore threads you don't want to read...
It must be so oppressive to have someone expressing their opinion.

Hardware wise yes it's way out in front but software wise Android as a whole still hasn't caught up to iOS whether you like it or not. Not everyone needs widgets and endless customization's on their phone, some of us simply want a phone that works out of the box without needing to root or having to wait months for an update to address the memory leak issues.

I started this thread because, I thought it might help people who are on the fence whether to buy it or not, I took the plunge and bought it then realized I made the mistake so I expressed my OPINION.
Also if this is such a useless thread don't read it....and better yet don't reply to it. (I'm the idiot)
Samsung has took a serious step away from its loyal customers by asking for more money for there devices and removing everything that made them special. You basically have an iPhone 6 running a bloated and ugly version of Android.
Once again my opinion, if you don't like it move on. Don't feel the need to be a keyboard tough guy and start calling names.
Childish.
I dont understand why they picked up S6 and then create a thread of their dislikes.
S6 features, pro and cons has been layed out prior opening sales and yet they still picked it up.

This is in hand experience, not prior sales.
Move along folks, nothing to see here.
