So guys, simple as that. I'm planning to use adb sideload in twrp afterwards to flash a rom. I have a corrupt folder and I can't seem to be able to delete it + I wanna clean up the phone. So how would I go about it step by step? If there is a guide somewhere, I'm sorry, but I can't search anything in Tapatalk :/

Why don't you flash the factory image and just start over. Wiping internal storage is going to wipe everything anyway

Start fresh. Flash factory images. All you need is here.
Or you can just wipe everything in recovery, reboot to recovery (optional), and sideload the rom of your choosing.

Yeah I was thinking of doing this, because it seems like less hassle than flashing factory images. I did it once in the past I think, but I don't remember the exact steps. So that's what I wanted to ask

Yeah, you can just wipe it all in recovery. It will reformat it. Good luck then. [emoji4]

Man, it was hell of a ride again. First drivers of course, i hate when they just "unnistall by themselves" I hope u know what i mean. Everytime u wanna use those things u have to install them all over again. next thing i kept getting erros while sideloading, again. For me, i cant have errorless sideload, no. So i rebooted phone, pc = rom sideloaded sucessfully. Weird.

So i got my nexus 4 yesterday and Ive always wanted to root an android phone and install a custom rom. So i unlocked the bootloader and rooted it pretty easy. I want to flash AOKP rom. i downloaded the rom file and google apps from their website on the phone. I went into CWM recovery and installed those files from the sd card, and it says its complete. I reboot the device and it just sits on the nexus logo screen. I dont know what i did wrong. Anybody got any ideas
It's normal for it to sit on that screen for about a minute or so.. How long did you give it?

3-4 minutes
make sure you have the correct files for your N4 or "Mako" device and that you did the steps properly.
wipe data/factory reset in recovery
flash ROM
flash Gapps
reboot

yeah im pretty sure i did that all correctly, but ill try again. Also for some reason when i try to boot into recovery sometimes, instead of going into CWM, it shows the android robot open with an exclamation mark on him. Any idea what that is

I believe that the stock recovery...
When you first boot cmw, it does not stay permanently afterwards...
You can flash it again by downloading ROM manager??
Or somthing else..
Maybe use adb+fastboot to flash ROM..
Just to try if the files aren't broken.

You can't flash a ROM in fastboot, you can only flash images.
You can flash the recovery image through fastboot.
I would let it sit for more than just 3-4 minutes as well.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you have to format /system and format /boot when switching from another rom, otherwise it bootlops.

I was trying to install CM10.1 for the 10th time and again it didn't work- I was stuck at the CM10.1 boot animation (I tried wiping my whole device, the cache everything). Then I decided to wipe the ROM (using TWRP) and my phone will no longer bootup at all- it is stuck at the "Google" logo. Help
All my Nandroid backups are gone... wtf do I do- is my phone broken for good?!?!?!?! :"O

so, instead of wiping data(factory reset), you actually wiped the whole phone clean. you need to install adb on your computer, boot into your recovery, connect to your computer via usb, use the adb option to move your rom/gapps to your phone, then flash them via your recovery. you lost your data btw, youre gonna start fresh. next time, be careful.
If you can get to the bootloader you can flash factory images. Just out of curiosity, if it wasn't working why did you keep trying 10 times?

you know, ive got a bit of irony for you. a bit back, i had to flash the factory image at like 3am. i was a bit intoxicated and feeling lazy, so i decided to use a toolkit. i spent about an hour on it, kept getting errors and other issues with the toolkit itself. it never flashed anything. before i fell asleep, i took the 10 minutes to flash the factory image via fastboot

Because I really wanted to try CM10.1 and I was trying different ways. I cleared the cache and tried, then cleared the Devk(something) cache and tried, and factory reset my phone too, it all didn't work- so I tried this and f'ed-up my phone

Since I was trying to flash CM10.1 can I just flash it with the Gapps from the get-go when my phone has no OS on it? Or does it need to have jelly bean ?

Like others said earlier I would flash the stock images with fastboot.

It's a good thing I made a titaniumbackup and sent it to my drive before all this- at least I won't lose all my apps
I wanted to install cyanogenmod on my Nexus 4 so I installed CWM recovery through ADB and then booted to it from the phone.
Before doing anything I wanted to do a Nandroid Backup but something went wrong (I suspect storage space)
So I tried to boot the device to delete some files, but I can't get past the boot screen
I still dont have any roms on the device so I cant flash them and I can't figure out how to access the SD Card, I've read it doesnt work from CWM on Nexus devices
I would try to wipe data cache or maybe lock/unlock from fastboot and hope it gets back to normal but I wanted to hear your thoughts before messing it up even more.
What dou you think?

You can try sideloading a rom onto it if you flash TWRP.

Thank you Wiping the cache did solve it however.
Also, if this happens to someone else and wiping the cache doesnt solve it, CWM has also got a sideload install option

Hopefully this helps people in my situation.
So on the first day of having my nexus 7 i found a way to have no OS and 0MB internal storage showing in TWRP. Yah i suck.
I tried tons of things but knew a system image was needed.
HOW: I was about to flash the superuser root for 4.3 newly released and forgot to put it on nexus so i then proceeded to exit TWRP, however upon exiting TWRP the recovery detected i havent installed supersu and asked do i want to install superuser? I though why the hell not!
I confirmed to install superuser and then tried to reboot but for 20 minutes device could not boot. TWRP showed 0MB internal storage and pushing adb files in this state yielded nothing as there was no directory
This is how i managed to have a working tablet again
1. FORMAT DATA in TWRP - after doing this your internal storage should be back and not show 0MB
2. reboot to the bootloader
3. On your computer download this file kindly given to us by phuduong and uploaded by Nburnes

4. Once downloaded move that system.img file to your adb directory
5. With you nexus 7 in the bootloader, adb open, and file downloaded copy and paste this command into adb terminal
fastboot flash system system.img
6. Now you have an OS but it still would loop and wouldnt start
7. Boot into recovery and Format Data again, because for me 0MB interal storage was back again
8. Then Factory Reset
FINALLY YOUR DEVICE SHOULD BE BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE!!!!!
Is that the factory image? Have you tried going from unlocked bootloader & rooted back to factory using that image?

Google has yet to release the official factory image for the new N7. However, a kind user was gracious enough to make their own. It is likely to be almost identical to what Google will eventually release and should work the same way.

I tried running through this, but it didn't work for me. I think my situation is different though because I tried to install a factory image for the 2012 nexus, and during part of that process I ran the "flash-all" script which starts by deleting boot, cache, recovery, userdata, and system.
I think deleting boot screwed me up, because even though I can go into recovery now after reinstalling twrp and I can restore my system using system.img, I still can't boot (get stuck on the google logo). Any way to fix that?

This worked perfectly! I had a wiped system folder (no ROM), and obviously no USB debugging enabled. And with the lack of a factory image, I've been counting seconds to seeing somebody post this!

You can flash old and new image through fastboot. I did 2 times ^_^

OP and nburnes saved my butt!
I did this and now it seems my device is booting and it shows up as N7 when I attach it to my PC. But the display shows nothing at all. It just goes blank after the Google screen. Any ideas?
After flashing everything I could think of and banging my head and the device against the wall for two hours, I finally got it to work. Not sure how exactly but the last thing I did was reflashing bootloader. So if anyone has the same problem, try that.

I have a Nexus 7 wifi, It is stuck at the Google screen boot looping. It is unlocked and has TWRP 2.5 which I can access. I have tried every tool kit to no avail. Need some help please!

get to a command line and figure out whats wrong by trying to flash a factory image, or run factory reset in recovery and see if it fixes it.

I tried factory reset but it fails. I tried to flash a factory image through side load but it fails.
If I go to advanced wipe and do them one at a time they all work except data.
It appears to have nothing on intrenal or external storage.
One other thing is when I try to mount the system in twrp it asks for a password?
I have never setup a password so I don't understand this.

Would it not have to be loaded on the device? I tried it with a tool kit and it gets to the end and fails on verification.
I don't remember what version it was so that doesn't help. I think it was 4.1.2

Okay seems to be a problem with twrp 2.5 as far as the password I'm downloading 2.6 now.
Use fastboot to flash new recovery and system partition. You run fastboot commands from your computer not from recovery and your device needs to be in bootloader not recovery. It does not require you to load it onto the device prior

After reading more I decided to go with CWM for the recovery. I flashed it in fast boot and it works fine but what now?

personally i would flash a stock system image in fastboot, root it, and use it....or pick from the hundreds of ROMs available around here.
