No cell signal in custom ROM - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I am using a custom ROM from xda (it is 1.2GB in size, not AOSP). However, there was no cellular reception at all. So I checked the phone setting, it just didn't read out my phone number, baseband info... see the attached pics. However, when I restored back to stock ROM NAE, phone could find the signal and showed my phone number correctly. What might be the reason here?

Either do a reboot. If that doesn't work then try to the the step by step on how to flash the ROM in the thread and what recovery to use.

Download Booster with root?

Anyone know of a mod or looked at a way to get download booster working correctly with root? I know we can enable through hidden menu, but it doesn't appear to do anything.
It seems to work for me. Ignore the speed, I have a bunch of stuff working right now, but the point remains.

No, you can root your device. See motochopper in the development forum. You can also use twrp, which I recommend, custom recovery. Don't let your device upgrade the firmware or you'll lose the ability to use a "real" custom recovery
