Horrible Moto X Battery Life - Moto X General

Hello everyone, I seem to be getting really bad battery life on my unlocked Moto x. I have 4.4.3 on it now but I've been having battery issues as long as I can remember. I tried turning Active Display and Touchless Control off and still no help. I RMA'd my old moto x for battery issues and this new one seems horrible too. Also, I am on wifi for about half of the day, have location services off, and screen brightness at about half most of the time. You can see how bad my battery is with my screenshots that I posted. Thanks for your help!

Factory reset . I always do after an update or rom flash. Yes you will lose data but if your rooted you should know what to do ,if not then well maybe we here is a non root backup option .

If that game of yours is calling 30 mins worth of wake locks, it's not the phone's problem, it's a poorly-coded game. That and facebook syncs a little too much even when the damn thing is disabled. I log out from facebook to ensure that it doesn't call upon any unnecessary wake locks.
Your phone is at roughly 50% after 4-5hrs, your screen on time is at nearly an hour, which isn't horrible considering that that game is still keeping your cpu awake for 1/8 of the phone-on time.
If I were you, I'd play the game, then swipe it away from the recents window to make sure it stays off. Your battery life will probably improve.
That and turn off location history, and also the wifi scanning setting, those both decrease the battery life for me.
Touchless controls and active display are built into the kernel, so they're definitely not the cause of your drain.

Show us some screen shots after running from 100 to like 10 percent. They'll paint a more accurate picture. Include the graph screen. ?

Some info on your setup would help.
What's running what's not. I.e. location services, gnow, what's syncing...etc.
Screen brightness?
Stuff like that.

Have you ever ran it until it died? When I went to 4.4.2(?) the battery life was bad. I found it needed recalibrated. I just kept playing YouTube and even though it said 1% it played for several hours before dying. After that I saw "normal" drain.

It is very unlikely that you have received 2 defective Moto Xs. Since you continue to have issues, logic would suggest that the issue is happening because of your particular configuration. One or more of your apps are probably not playing nice...
We may be able to help you further troubleshoot if you can provide the info @KJ has requested. Since the vast majority of us are experiencing excellent battery life with our Xs, we will need this additional info about your unique setup.

Please use the existing thread for battery related discussion: How is your battery life?
Thanks!

Extreme Battery Drain

My phone's battery is constantly being drained by one thing or another. I shut off location services, and Google Search becomes the problem. I shut off Google Search, and Play Services drains the battery. I uninstalled Play Services and now my battery use looks like this.

I don't know what to do. Is it time for a factory reset? I am rooted, but stock. I assume I would have to unroot before a reset.
Give us some specific numbers and we might be able to help. The screenshot you put up means nothing. Either more info or BBS screenshots (or maybe even Wakelock Detector)
Yeah, hop on Android Market. Download Wakelock Detector and the next time you pull it off of the charger leave it be for a couple hours. It'll keep track of what is keeping your phone from sleeping. For example your phone can be awake without the screen being on, and that's probably where the issue lies. Make sure it's set to CPU Wakelock. Then come back with some screens of that. We'll get a better idea of what we me be able to do to help.

I've been using Wakelock Detector, but I guess I am unable to interpret the results. They seem inconsistent. My phone was recently rebooted and is being charged, but I will post a shot of WD later. The top result earlier today was Google Music (which I almost never use). It did not seem like a terribly long period of time it was on, though. I think it was less than 6 minutes. I turned off sync for it regardless.
I assume BBS BetterBatteryStats. I'll go purchase it.
Thanks for the help. I do appreciate it.
Hm... How long have you had the phone? If you're in the grace period still, it couldn't hurt to replace it. Every now and then, defectives slip through. Knowing how well the G2 battery is supposed be, I do it very unusual that you're suffering a hit in that department.
Edit: I still think there has to be a rogue app somewhere. Especially with android system taking so much of your battery.

Battery is almost full, doesn't seem odd to me with phone sleep. Need wakelock info form BBS.

Wont deepsleep with bluetooth on

Hi Folks,
I have been suffering with abysmal battery life for the past couple of weeks since I got my device(910F). So much so that yesterday I rooted the phone just to get betterbatterystats to give me more information on what was draining the battery.
Low and behold it turns out bluetooth is the culprit. I have a moto 360 that I have paired with the phone.
Before I switched bluetooth off i had 2 kernel wakelocks occupying 88% of the time since i took it off charge (bluesleep & msm-serial_hs_dma).
As soon as I switched off bluetooth these wakelocks where immediately released.
Also when checking CPU states prior to disabling bluetooth no time was spent in deepsleep. As soon as I turn off bluetooth I'm now seeing 23% (and growing) of the time spent in deep sleep.
Has anyone else had this issue with their Note? Seems like bluetooth is keeping the phone awake and not letting it enter deep sleep.

I've the same problem whit my Note 4 (N910F). I've 3 devices constantly connected with my phone: LG G Watch R, Fitbit Flex and Xiaomi MiBand.
I've a custom rom: Emotion Revolution Note4 Lollipop based (BOB4 and BOC3 versions have the same problem)

I have exactly the same issue on my Sony Z3. Take a look to here. You'll feel at home!!
Did you find any solution workaround?
This things is driving me crazy.
It looks to not a very popular issue around XDA. Could it be an app? Hw problem?
My note 4 is on 5.0.1, and this just started yesterday. I always keep my Bluetooth on with great battery life. Today, however, my phone will not enter deep sleep until I turn off Bluetooth.
I cleared the data on the Bluetooth and BluetoothTest processes, and my problem is solved. Now, understand that I've been turning bluetooth off and on constantly as I use my hands-free device for calls and turn bluetooth back off to save battery, so something may started functioning properly along the way without clearing those previously mentioned data and caches. Either way, I leave bluetooth on 100% of the time again, and my battery life is again stellar.

3 hour battery life. Max!

My V20 sucks electrons faster than a Hemi sucks hi-test. I am very diligent about shutting down apps when I am done with them and making sure the screen stays off. What I have noticed, though, is that, when I look at the "Apps" to see if there is any single one that seems to really be the biggest offender, I find that Quick Memo + (which I have NEVER even opened) accounts for, sometimes, up to 10% of the battery drain between charges... I always Force Stop it when I am there, but, in a couple hours, it will be reporting that it has used 5% - 10% of the charge. Is there any way to shut the damned app down permanently without rooting (I don't have the time to get that far into the phone...)?

Which v20? If the H918, flash my 6.5 ROM.
If H910, wait for the new update tonight (hopefully).
If US996, flash my 5.5 ROM. (update coming at some point)
If VS995, flash my 5.5 ROM. (update coming at some point)
Each device mentioned has its own thread and ROM+kernel.
It's an H910, locked to AT&T.
You can uninstall quick memo+ though I find it weird that it takes that much battery.
You may also want to look into using greenify which can shutdown apps when the screen gets turned off. Made a huge difference on my son's g4.

i had a really short battery life also until i finally switched to a custom rom now my phone last 12+ hours and that's with being on it a lot. including games, streaming music, video's, and calls, text, and lastly web surfing sometimes. Using a custom ROM really fixed my battery problem maybe you guys should try this also. just a friendly suggestion.
Checked on my h910 and quickmemo+ is indeed taking up a crazy amount. I don't think you can disable or uninstall through system either, going to try Greenify. I really want to root my phone but I'm going to be trading it back to ATT in a year and I need to be able to go back fully to stock.

Capture+ is part of Quickmemo+ so it's probably always loaded and ready to take screenshot. Maybe try removing the shortcut on second screen if it is there?

Has my battery degraded or its a software issue?

My battery lately has been draining really fast from doing minor tasks. 2-3 months ago I upgraded to the latest MIUI 11.0.4 and noticed a slight increase in drainage but nothing too concerning. For the past few days though, it has become really bad. An example is how today I charged my phone to 100 percent and within 8 hours it is now already down to 75 as I am writing this post.
What I did:
Charged it.
Left it idle for 4 hours
Browsed some Facebook feed for around 15 minutes
Watched YouTube videos for a total of 15-20 minutes
Left idle again for another 2 hours
Just now spent another 20 browsing some Reddit posts
I usually keep my mobile data as well as the WiFi connection turned off all the time and only turn them on when I need to use the phone. I don't have any IM apps running in the background all the time syncing messages except Kik and Snapchat for whom I've set a battery saving modes to close whenever not in use but again, like I said my internet connection is always switched off. I keep my screen brightness low all the time as well btw.
I usually charge it as soon as it goes down to 30-40%
Pretty sure tomorrow after a whole day of work having it sit idle and then doing some minor internet browsing its gonna drop to 30-40.
Here's a screenshot of my battery stats:

Not sure if this is normal as I remember it draining way slower than it does nowadays. I know that this phone is known for having a good battery life. Any suggestions on what I should do? Is there warranty for the battery in case it turns out to be faulty? I've been using this phone for a little over 6 months now.
I have terrible wakelock on 11.0.4.0.
Non rooted and I want to keep it like this.
Is it a common issue and should I go back to MIUI 10?

Hi, bro!
I had this wakelock in all versions (Android 8 or 9) I tried several times to find out which app does this, installing monitors made for it and so far nothing ... But yesterday I reset my RN7 and the wakelock didn't come back. I imagine it is an app that has not yet performed the initial configuration.
switch aosp(no gapps recommended)
i get 12 hours plus sot

Multiple apps. Of course I tried to fix it by deleting a couple of apps such as restricting the background activity in the most of the rest but I only succeeded to reduce the wakelock from 98% to 50%. The bad thing is, that if You do hard reset it's a temporary solution. Wakelock will return in maximum one month. So what is the solution? Returning to Miui 10 or AOSP rom if You want to run latest Android version?

TicWatch GPS Drain overnight

Hey everybody!
I have noticed some strange behavior with my TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS.
During the day, the power consumption is moderate and absolutely acceptable. However, the power consumption is significantly increased at night.
Looking for the cause, I found out with the help of Battery Historian that the GPS is obviously the reason.
When I go to sleep, I always turn on Airplane Mode on the watch to further limit all network activity and save power, and turn it off accordingly after I get up.
I have attached a screenshot from Battery Historian. I have inserted the vertical red bars as markers, when the Airplane Mode was activated or deactivated by me.
The process that activates the GPS seems to be Wear OS itself (com.google.android.wearable.app).
I had also already reset the watch to factory settings.
The first night, interestingly, GPS is only ever activated briefly. Whereas on the second night GPS is almost constantly active.
Before the factory reset, the GPS behavior looked similar.
So far, I had always left GPS activated on the watch, since I assumed that it would also be deactivated when Airplane Mode was activated. However, a look into the settings told me that this is not the case.
Ultimately, I do not understand why the watch wants to access the GPS constantly and almost permanently when Airplane Mode is active.

I've exactly the same problem. I was getting crazy as the watch consumed 3 time more battery overnight with airplane mode than during the day.
Maybe the problem is related to not having a connection to the phone. As far as I know, when the watch is connected to the phone, it doesn't use its own GPS. I assume there must be some internal process (like updating the weather) that tries to get GPS signal.
I'll try different setting combination on the next nights

Dear friends,
I came here for the same exact issue and I'm glad it is a known bug and it was detected.
I'm asking to the OP which is the app you use to have that battery stats. I need it also
Thanks in advance

Same issues here, can anyone post the link to ticwatch FB on this issue?
I don't think the affected WearOS version is something we can really opt-out ...
