Hello, yesterday I got my new Moto E, my first Android device, the problem is: I don't have WLAN here, I live in a small village, so I can't connect to any WLAN, so I googled and found the ClockworkMod Tether app, and installed it, the problem now is: The Tether on my computer says

After reading several posts on mac spoofing and having failed to find a working thread.I decided to fill in the gaps with my linux knowledge (however little of that I may have).
So this method seems to solve some issues I've seen (MAC not changing because device wasn't downed) in these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385577
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902354
without editing the nvram.txt
I've tested the ip link method on my recently rooted Samsung Tab 2 7.0"
Changing your mac address:
Prerequisites:
*A rooted device
*Busybox
*Terminal emulator
*Turn wifi on from your device's menu, do not connect to any network.
*Open your terminal emulator, now type:
$su
#ip link
*This should list all networking interfaces, identify your wifi device, take note of the name. now:
#ip link set NAME down
#ip link set NAME address 00:11:22:33:44:55
#ip link set NAME up
I believe that when using ifconfig the procedure is as follows:
$su
#ifconfig
*Take note of the device name
#ifconfig NAME down
#ifconfig NAME hw ether 00:11:22:33:44:55
#ifconfig NAME up
After doing the above you can connect to the desired network normally, using the default / other user interfaces.
NOTE: The mac address will be reset when WIFI is switched off.
I have confirmed the ip link method to be working. i.e. transmitted mac address is the new / changed one!
Actually in my case (SGS) i had to restart wifi first and then (while it's starting) quickly change the MAC using:
Code:
busybox ifconfig wlan0 hw ether 00:11:22:33:44:55
Important: It must be done about 500ms after enabling wifi, otherwise it won't work.
If I change MAC when wifi is off it simply returns to the original during next start.
Worked on i9000 with CM9 / 10

this is actually incredibly useful, I got MACblocked off a network near college. thanks!
Doesn't work for me
Code:
# su
# ifconfig tiwlan0 down
# ip link set tiwlan0 address 00:11:22:33:44:55
ip: SIOCSIFHWADDR: Operation not supported on transport endpoint
# ifconfig tiwlan0 hw ether 00:11:22:33:44:55
error: SIOCSIFADDR (Invalid argument)
I guess its a kernel/driver problem... at least I know it works on normal Linux systems.

Funny that only some manufacturers disable such features. You could always try editing the nvram file? I haven't tried it though.
Isnt it dangerous ?
Script to apply random mac
I've made a script to create a random ghost mac every time I run it on the terminal emulator with su.
Code:
macaddr="52:54:$(dd if=/dev/urandom count=1 2>/dev/null | md5sum | sed 's/^\(..\)\(..\)\(..\)\(..\).*$/\1:\2:\3:\4/')"
ip link set wlan0 down
ip link set wlan0 address $macaddr
ip link set wlan0 up
I've named it as gmac.sh and saved it on /sdcard/, thus by running:
Code:
$ su
# sh /sdcard/gmac.sh
the mac is changed.

Works differently on HTC Desire
Hello,
This is just to "set in stone" somewhere in the Internet that on some devices, you need *not* to down and up the network interface. Otherwise, the network driver will restore its MAC address from hardware/driver settings.
On a HTC Desire, MAC spoofing works this way:
* turn on the wifi interface using the standard Android interface
* run this script :
Code:
macaddr="52:54:$(dd if=/dev/urandom count=1 2>/dev/null | md5sum | sed 's/^\(..\)\(..\)\(..\)\(..\).*$/\1:\2:\3:\4/')"
ip link set wlan0 address $macaddr
Best regards,
On some devices (e.g. HTC Desire among others), the wifi GUI still resets the mac address even with the method described in this thread.
worstenbrood has modified the wifi driver so that the mac address can be configured from a text file. It is described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525230
This is compatible with the wifi GUI and solves the problem of the wifi interface reloading its original mac address.
Anyone interested, I have backported his modifications to the latest state of the kernel developement in CM7.
thanks!
I get a 'operation not supported on transport endpoint' error when running the 'ip link set wlan0 address 00:11:22:33:44:55' and a about the same error with busy box.
Thanks for this! Gonna try this later.

Hallo,
I have the following function in my AsyncTask:
Code:
private SSLContext trustCert() throws Exception {
SSLContext context = null;
context = SSLContext.getInstance("TLS");
// Load CAs from an InputStream
// (could be from a resource or ByteArrayInputStream or ...)
CertificateFactory cf = CertificateFactory.getInstance("X.509");
InputStream caInput = this.context.getResources().openRawResource(R.raw.cert);
Certificate ca = cf.generateCertificate(caInput);
caInput.close();
// Create a KeyStore containing our trusted CAs
KeyStore keyStore = KeyStore.getInstance(KeyStore.getDefaultType());
keyStore.load(null, null);
keyStore.setCertificateEntry("ca", ca);
// Create a TrustManager that trusts the CAs in our KeyStore
TrustManagerFactory tmf = TrustManagerFactory.getInstance(TrustManagerFactory.getDefaultAlgorithm());
tmf.init(keyStore);
// Create an SSLContext that uses our TrustManager
context.init(null, tmf.getTrustManagers(), null);
return context;
}
In the doInBackground-Function im loading some resources from my server with a self-signed certificate:
Code:
SSLContext sslContext = this.trustCert();
HttpsURLConnection conn = (HttpsURLConnection) address.openConnection();
conn.setSSLSocketFactory(sslContext.getSocketFactory());
......
conn.connect(); //here i get the error
And sometimes (!) I get following Error on the last line of the code posted:
java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.
But why?
..
anyone?
Hi
Are you sure your sever is well configured ? It seems that there are some intermediate certificates missing from the certificate chain but google "Trust anchor not found" you'll find some helpful links

I have met this issue before. My solution is setting the verifier host and ssl factory before you setting up the https utl connection
e.g. :
private static void trustAllHosts() {
try {
HttpsURLConnection.setDefaultHostnameVerifier(notVerify);
SSLContext sc = SSLContext.getInstance("TLS");
sc.init(null, trustAllCerts, new java.security.SecureRandom());
HttpsURLConnection.setDefaultSSLSocketFactory(sc.getSocketFactory());
} catch (Exception e) {
}
}
add this method before your https connection create method. Hope it can help you.
Look at my code, I'm already doing that..

Hi!
I've made something similar - An App that runs some shell scripts on an Ubuntu server over SSH.
Here are some code snippets, hope this helps you
Code:
JSch jsch = new JSch();
Session session = jsch.getSession([I]'ssh-username'[/I],IP, [I]'ssh-port'[/I]);
session.setPassword(SW); // SW ... password ssh-user (for me it's the same pw, ssh-user = su)
Properties prop = new Properties();
prop.put("StrictHostKeyChecking", "no");
session.setConfig(prop);
session.connect();
Channel channel = session.openChannel("exec");
Code:
if(SU) // If Command should run as SU
{
sudoCommand = "sudo -S -p '' " + command;
}
else
{
sudoCommand = command;
}
((ChannelExec) channel).setCommand(sudoCommand);
((ChannelExec) channel).setPty(true);
channel.connect();
OutputStream out = channel.getOutputStream();
ByteArrayOutputStream responseStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
channel.setOutputStream(responseStream);
if(SU)
{
out.write((SW + "\n").getBytes());
out.flush();
}
Thread.sleep(1000);
out.write(("logout" + "\n").getBytes());
out.flush();
Thread.sleep(500);
out.write(("exit" + "\n").getBytes());
out.flush();
out.close();
session.disconnect();
channel.disconnect();
Thank you LinuxForce. Thats helpful. I am trying to work on this.

Hi
I have a problem debugging applications using my new OnePlus 2. Once the debugging starts the application is blacked out and unresponsive. After some time the black screen disappears and I can see my app but it is unresponsive. The Android Development Studio shows it is still in debugging mode but obviously I am not stuck on a breakpoint. The application gets responsive only when I stop the debugging session from within the ADS.
My phone is a stock OnePlus 2 A2003 running Android 5.1.1, kernel 3.10.49 and Oxygen OS 2.1.1. The phone is detected by the ADB and is set to USB debugging mode. The same issue happens no matter the options I set in Developer settings section (choosing the app being debugged or changing 'do not attach debugger' option). Just running the application works without problems.
I am using the newest Android Development Studio version available. I should not have any other software communicating with the phone (never had Eclipse installed). Only one adb process is running. I work from Windows 10 64bit.
Restarting the phone, ADB, PC or ADS does not help.
The same application can be debugged with no problem by my HTC One M7 running Android 5.0.
Can you give me any hints to what may be causing the problem? I am a novice in Android app development.
This is the debug console log I have:

Hi everyone,
I use a VPN which supports ipv6.
On my computers (pcs under Windows 10), I have no problem and my ip is invisible on ipv4 as well as ipv6 (I check it with www.test-ipv6.com). Both shows servers of my vpn.
But on my galaxy s4 (jftlexx) under cyanogenmod 13, everytime I use the .ovpn files under OpenVpn for Android, my ipv4 is my Vpn one but the ipv6 is the one from my Internet access provider (proxad).
What can I do to make my android to use the VPN ipv6?
My VPN is FrootVpn (I don't want to change cause it's really great for me and I tried 3 or 4 VPN providers before).
Did you try disabling ipv6 in Android?

At the moment, everytime I tried with an app which is made to disable ipv6, my VPN was unable to reach a connection. I tried with AFWall+, with this script : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61641566&postcount=2 but it cuts internet connection too ("DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET")
I would like to try the solution described here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/networking/guide-disable-ipv6-android-t3298659
but I'm not sure to know what to do (I never used scripts). If you have better solutions, I'm interrested
I tried the script solution after being informed on how to do it but I get the same problem : my vpn doesn't connect when ipv6 is disabled. I get this error (some parts are in French, it's my language):
