Hi all forummers,
I am having a big problem with my Galaxy S i9000, my model is GT-i9000. I have never root or do anything to the phone. Last night, I was just charging the phone as per normal, and when I returned to check my phone, it was off and I thought nothing of it and tried to power on the phone, but it doesn't work at all.
I tried with my USB cable, with another charger, with another battery but all in vain. I tried searching the forum for an answer or at least someone who encountered similar situation like me, but seems like I am the only one with such problem.
My phone can't power on, can't boot up, nothing, it's just a dead phone now.
Like to ask if this is a software or hardware problem, I tried connecting to the ODIN but no response, even my PC can't detect the phone when it's connected.
Can someone please help and advise??
Much appreciated!
try taking out the battery for some 5 minutes or so then put it back and plug the charger but do not turn it on

thanks and I tried, still the same. But funny thing is when I tried to charge it again, I can feel some heat on the battery, meaning actually power did go in but it just cannot power up..
Tasks it to the samsung repairs centre. You're still covered by warranty.

Clean the contacts as suggested. But I would like to know the voltage the Note is recording, to see if something is genuinely wrong
Perhaps you could download battery spy from the market. It will tell you in realtime what the battery voltage is.
It should never ever get higher than 4200mV. Most people will never get higher than 4197mV.
Also, if your battery is not getting very close to this, then the battery is not getting fully charged. Its a good indication of whether or not your battery is calibrated correctly.
Hi all,
A friend of my had the same issue on a gs2.
Seems to be the USB connector is not working well. When you charged it and you play a little(easy) with the USB connector he will charge normal. But it is not a solution. He had to bring it to samsungs repair center. 2 Weeks later he got it back with a new connector in it and fixed under warranty.

Hi i have the same problem the first days of android 4.0.3 (i dont love my phone any more cause 4.0.3 is bliax )
Ok listen how to fix
You get the problem only if you charge it with the charger never over USB with pc. You can fix with 2 method.
Sometimes the first method works sometimes, the other one
1 Method
Close your phone power off remove batterie sim and sd card. wait 5-6 minutes then but ONLY the batterie in and start your phone then you dont see animore the message . Then close you phone and insert sim sd and batterie. Why this works. Cause this resets the baterrie stats it is a file in the andorid dont know where in the phone it is to delete it manualy if some one know answer.
2method
Put the charger in the phone then in the power socket in your wall. Close screen. wait 10 seconds then open screen of the phone remove AC from the wall wait 30 seconds and then remove the charger from the phone. Maybe this dont work in the first try. repeat it until you dont get the message it take long some times 6-7 repeats too success :/
What you can do to never get this error?.
-Load phone with USB in a powered USB Hub >.<
-If you unplug your charger from the phone. You must first do
-Unlock Phone
-Remove from the wall the AC adapter
-wait litel and then remove the charger from the phone.
But not be angry with this i have this broblem the first 10 days after the Update after i while this messege dont pop up
Sorry for bad inglisch i hope you can read it
The problemm is the baterie stats file you must reset it with this 2 tricks
has this worked for anyone? i still have this issue. ive looked all over the boards and the threads would just end. seems like it gets fixed but noboday says anything or people just gave up? help..the beep is really annoying

I have answered this a couple days ago on another thread. I have had 2 other Samsung phones do this (s2 & skyrocket). You probably will have to take your note in to a samsung service centre. The micro usb connector, in my opinion is a huge mistake.

Do you have any other chargers to try out? Just to verify that the cable you're using is not the issue...

Hello, i'am from france and i have a Samsung Galaxy Note SM-N9005.
When i try to plug the charger in phone ( Turned On), it doesnt recognize it. I tried to use it's USB 3.0 cable ( from the box) , doesnt work.
then i tried another samsung charger micro usb one, doesn't work. Then i tried to plug it in my pc, the pc doesn't recognize it.
The only way to charge it, is to turn it off... but it still have a strange way to charge.
When i plug the charger,it vibrate and then show me the grey battery, then the green one ( Normal way to show that's its charging).
After around 10 sec, it vibrate again ( like if i unplugged it) and it comes back to the grey battery, then green.... over and over...
It does this but it still charge my phone, and that's the only way i found to charge it.i dont know why it is charging when it is turned off and not when it is turned on?
Thanks in advance for your help

i have the exact same problem!!! It just started yesterday.
Do you use the original charger?
If you use a other charger with less power, the phone will not charge!
You need a 2Ah Charger.

Yes i understand, but i use the one that came with the telephone. Its the original samsung USB Cable 3.0 + the Charger.
I tried with the Charger from a Galaxy Note 2 ( usb 2.0) it still doesnt work.
It's a hardware problem.

As said is hardware issue. If your Note 3 is under warranty use it, because they will fix it. If not, go to a phone repair center and they should be able to fix it as well.
It might be the microusb from the phone, a friend of mine had something similar with his s2.Good luck!

It would be nice if someone know how to do it. Thanks :fingers-crossed:

Back up your data with your backup app of choice (Helium, Titanium Backup). Throw your backup file into dropbox.
Your photos should be backed up in drop box so don't bother.
Contacts are in your Google account don't bother with that either.
So I think it's just Music and movies if you're not using Play Music.
I would use sd card for back up, that's one of the reasons it's there. I backed up contacts on my old phone to Google and then for some reason couldn't recover it on new phone, maybe I did something wrong, but had no problem loading them them up from sd card. If you really hate to send it back (I would) you could open the back (search youtube, there are few videos how to), I think it's 8 screws and check if the charging board connector is loose. I wouldn't go much past that and would make sure there are no temper proof seals to disturb.
Hello how you solved this problem? I discover exact the same problem with charging on my n9005 today.
Pretty sure this is related to the software on this, not the hardware, unless they are all broken. I have recently sent mine in for the same reason, got new note 3 had it for a week now. But before sending it in i got a new battery, new cables, nfc charger and a cradle, to rule out all the chargers as a possibility. After getting the new one it worked fine until I updated after all updates came down now it wont charge again. I found that If I remove the battery and put it back in it will start charging from time to time but currently its off and charging sort of, Keeps starting to charge for about 5 min and then stops for about 10, and keeps this cycle. If anyone else has a new one and still getting this after Updates please let me know.

Problem fixed!
I had the same EXACT problem for a couple weeks. It clearly isn't a hardware issue if the battery actually is charging when off (FYI to anyone who needs a refresher on how technology works). Clearing the system cache took 30 seconds and worked! Here is how to do it:
Turn off the Galaxy Note 3.
Press and hold Volume UP + Home + Power buttons.
When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
In the recovery menu, navigate to ‘’wipe cache partition’’ with the volume buttons.
Press power button to confirm.
Once this is done, select reboot system now.
Requesting your help!!!! pls... Super urgent

So after a lot of reading online and understanding logically that if the hardware is screwed then the phone will not charge in the first place, I followed your steps and wiped my cache. I was literally keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the end of my long haul with this problem. However, the phone did not start charging after that and the problem still persists. I strongly believe that this is a software related problem as the phone functions fine and the battery life is also as it was before. Given this, I kindly request you to tell me if there are any other solutions or ways through which I can fix this issue? Your response is most appreciated and urgent.. HELP!!

Ok, wiping the system cache worked for about 2 hours. I was a little too excited. I just replaced the charging port and so far, so good. Make sure to buy the proper charging port; each one is different per carrier (e.g., mine is a SM-N900V for Verizon, SM-N900T for T-Mobile, etc.). The charge port was $11. You can find all carriers, except Verizon, on Amazon. I googled Note 3 replacement parts and picked the most legit looking website to order mine. Good luck.
did any one found out any solution for this
i am getting same grey battery sign over and over again when plugged into charger (Wall/USB 2.0/3.0) and its not starting with battery power, last time battery was charged to 86%

In fact, less than a week ago, there was an intermittent charge problem. Even if I plugged in to the charger for the whole day, the battery never reached 80%.. So I took it to the repair shop. The tech tried to replaced with the new port two times and still had the same issue. We tried a brand new battery too. So I came back with the original port. Now, the charging has become faster after doing the factory data reset. But I figured out the mhl_wake causing the battery drain continuously with the help of BetterBatteryStats app. I wanted to root my device as well as access the internal storage but unfortunately my laptop or any other PC doesn't detect my device at all. I am suspecting bigger hardware problem unless it is a bug in the code. Btw, I am running the official AT&T Lollipop code only.
Thanks,

One more info, the battery draining stops when the cache is cleared from storage settings or formatted in the recovery mode. But it is temporary workaround only because the battery starts draining due to mhl_wake wakelock after sometime.
You have the memory leak bug( all that i know if a process is doing a heavy usage, even if you kill it [force stop] then its memory leak bug)
