I'm considering moving from TW to AOSP but what kept me on TW on the S4 was the Camera. I had horrible quality compared to the TW roms while being on AOSP. Flashed many ROMs and it was always the same but maybe it was just me.
Anyone that tried an AOSP ROM, how is the camera picture and video quality compared to the TW one?

I think if you try Google camera from the playstore it will give you an accurate representation of AOSP rom's camera.
Possibly not that accurate if they use different different camera drivers.
Exactly. I've also noticed that Google Camera also does not catch details like Samsung TW Camera while testing it on my TW Rom :/
I have had my G2 since last october.
I am a bit of serial flasher, mostly I have been flashing AOSP based roms but that changed as I was using more of the camera and was quite disappointed with the results I am getting.
I finally flashed Cloudy G3 (lg stock based) and I am noticing better quality pictures, at least I think they are.
My question is,
Would AOSP based rom never have the quality of the stock rom when it comes to picture quality?
What determines the quality of the camera? Kernel? Algorithm?
Any input would be appreciated
I have a pretty simple question . How does camera performance differ from the normal touchwiz ROM apposed to an aosp ROM. I know there is some processing that is done on the os side when pictures are taken.
So basically is the camera worse on a aosp ROM compared to a touchwiz ROM
Hello,
so, basically everywhere you can read that the camera quality is better with the stock ROM and worse with AOSP based ROMs...
Is it possible to emulate the AOSP camera quality on the stock ROM to be able to see what the AOSP camera quality would look like without actually having to flash an AOSP based ROM?
So, for example:
If you install Open Camera on the stock ROM and then take a picture with it, will the resulting picture have the same image quality as if you would have taken a picture on an AOSP based ROM?
Or will the camera quality still be better?
Is there any way to test what the camera quality will be like on an AOSP based ROM without actually having to flash an AOSP based ROM?
Regards
Hello!
Been trying around different ROMs and I like the LinageOS 14.1 the best so far. The only thing that I really don't like is the camera "issue". I have tried several apps including Camera Zoom FX, Open Camera, Camera MX & Camera FV-5. Too bloated, slow and over-complicated for my taste. The stock camera app would be great, or even better the ported S6 Camera thats in the Super WizCyan ROM. Or some other of the S-stock cameras.
Been searching around a lot and found nothing. Does it not exist or am I a worthless searcher? Thanks
A stock-based camera will require a stock-based TW ROM.
