nope, any root out there will trigger knox to 0x1
i have reached a point where i actually dont care about it. this knox is really so annoying i wouldnt care if my s4 is bricked or broken. Especially the kitkat releases by samsung were disappointing.. first one no glonass.. second one with knox2.0 and random reboots..
I would get a different brand where at least customers are not treated like this... htc makes a lot of things better these days and the dont even exclude warranty if i interpret it correctly on htcdev. only if error is obviously caused by cfw

Please can anyone help me how to check and rest flash counter on galaxy s4?
I need to send me s4 to samsung care because of some hardware problem but I am afraid if samsung checks the flash counter and refuse me giving warranty.

Download triangle away from the Play Store, it'll tell you

But I am not rooted after flashing stock rom yesterday and triangle away requires root permission for its working.

download pre-rooted stock rom from djembey here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
install triangle away, reset counter. then you'll have official stock rom with basic root access, flash count 0 and status official.
best choice i guess :fingers-crossed:

Hey, did you send it back or not? I rooted mine to check the flash counter and triggered knox security. The are now refusing to honour their warranty despite the actual fault being a physical fault with the screen (it is peeling away from the phone body).
I will keep pushing them until they fix it as the fault is totally unrelated to the phone software and they are breaking the law by refusing to fix it however I will be selling the phone and boycotting them until they drastically improve their customer service
Read this, then tell them

Didn't use the phone much after it, but i didn't notice any difference....Oh well
Keep in mind its just 16mb update mostly security/patches but i think and feel it's much faster smoother then before.
I think we'll get another update in the following weeks with bigger changes.
Ya I noticed it was pretty small, what we want is KITKATTTTTTTTT

thanks but i knew that already, what i meant was that most regions have no 4.3 update yet(only 3 or 4 countries) and its been 2 weeks since the supposed "rollout" started
guess i will have to flash again, how lame

Oh ok..ya, it is increasing like every 2 days, but just flash the one closest to your country...it doesn't really matter much other than CSC mostly..

I don't think this voids your warranty, because you are still on stock firmware....you don't need root or a custom recovery!
Just got an OTA from MJ5 to 8. Phone generally feels the same. Nothing new observed by me other than "maybe" a little better RAM management.

Hello everyone and thanks for helping me out in my last post. OK so I wait and get my mja update, which by the way fixed all the bugs on the gs4. Now I am thinking I want to root but I can't find a guide online anywhere, a Lil help would be appreciated.

You haven't searched or read much. You can use CF auto root.

The only way to root MJA is to use CF and trip the Knox counter.

OK just a few more questions. So in the distant future will it be possible to turn knox back to 0x0 and unroot phone?

Maybe. But it doesn't matter. At this point in time, it has been confirmed that Sprint will not be denying service for devices with the Knox counter tripped.

Yep your right. Only thing I'm having trouble with now is where is my cwm to flash cyanogenmod.
I also have great news for all gs4 users who aren't rooted yet and running mja. I ran cf auto root on my pc with all anti-virus turned off and everything worked perfect, no SU or knox problems at. I was on sprint mja build.
Read up, make sure u have the right software and drivers and you should be fine.

From galaxys3man30:
Mr.kennyglass123 just got some confirmed info that sprint will repair/replace your phone with the knox counter set 0x1 so that's some positive news. I've have been able to successfully root and add a custom kernel to 4.3 without any issues and it's not as bad as it seems just people where making the mistake of trying to go back to a earlier update and with the new bootloader that just not possible right now. So, it's not that scary to do this update but I can understand where ur coming from thou buddy. I will be here to help you with it if you need me buddy I have successfully remove all of knox from the ota rom so far so it's that hard to get removed and such. Just trying to give some encouraging info buddy.

An important clarification, Sprint will do this! Samsung will NOT!!!! It is very important you understand the difference. If you are paying for Sprint TEP (Total Equipment Protection), Best Buy Protection, or even Square Trade Insurance then the Knox flag shouldn't be a problem. If you do not have any of the insurance packages and you are solely relying on the Samsung warranty for your phone than you should know that Samsung will reject any warranty claim if the Knox flag is tripped or they can tell that you rooted it. They will fix your phone for a fee.
How to fix this?I got OTA update to kit kat and battery life is bad...Draining twice faster than in 4.3!Any fixes? At least its much faster now

this answer is crap...
Try to flash the new firmware with repartition and the right pitfile. That will do a full wipe and a clean install. I have had the same issues, tried a lot of things and nothing was helping me... This solution works for me and Knox wouldn't trip!
best regards

Flashing any official firmware - so long as it's same as you have got or an upgrade - won't trip KNOX. - If you try to downgrade to different versions you encounter KNOX issues.

You can not downgrade!
Try to see what is holding wakelocks - possibly stuff like the indexer/finder service that is "kept in a loop" by certain files (for instance unusual PDFs or video/audio).
Also see if you can disable some of the things going on the network in the background.

Hi i was just wondering if there has been a root method for the 4.4.2 OTA update. I updated a few weeks back and have been dying for root access.
The baseband version is N900VVRUCNC4.
Thanks in advance!

Think there's any possibility we'll get it? I would hate to have to sell this device and move on
Im sure there will be in time?
Would we be able to downgrade thru Odin and then root and then flash rooted version of 4.4.2?

Doubt it...most of the devs that might be capable moved on from Verizon and really do not care. The reason being soon as a exploit is found and released it then is patched by the next update. It's a cat and mouse game not worth playing. There are methods out there that allow you have rooted 4.4.2, The sticky at the top of this section explains it all. "Never Accept OTA Updates".

No The Verizon N3 is model N900V and this article deals with the UK model N900
Also, in the UK the status of the Knox warranty counter doesn't matter. In the US it does.
