Hi,
Dear All,
I bought a LS980 2 days ago used. It had Lam Hoang 7.0 KK rom installed, root and TWRP. I was messing with camera app and installed xdabbeb's mod through its app (3.xx one) after restart it went into boot loop. I tried to go to stock using LG flash tool and sprint tot/dll but it says that I have a D802(LDG802AT-00-V21r.OPEN-ESA-APR...). I can only go into download mode. My efs backup is on internal storage didn't copied it to PC . I would raelly appreciate if you guys could guide me to a early resolution.
Currently I am downloading d802 tot and dll. Can i flash it? will this work?
flashed d802 tot/dll(8974) phone boots touch/keyboard not functions. reboots within 20 secs..sigh..
I'm not sure if it was a good idea to flash other models tot on your ls980 -.-. Maybe try flashing the ls980 tot again? And isn't it possible you bought a d802?
nope its written on the back LS980 and I have checked with IMEI as well it LS980.

you may have fully bricked your device by doing this because the only to get it to think it's ls980 now is to edit build.prop and then flash ls980 tot

Thats what the plan is. It was bricked with build.prop of d802 to begin with. So at least it working (with a random touch response) I am able to enable developer mode and debugging and hoping to push LS980 build.prop to system and the flashing it with LS980.tot. If you could tell me how to use adb for this?I am new to this(learning)

Well the main problem right now is that you need root in order to be able to install and app like adbinsecure(search on xda for it) to be able to adb push into system/ and then use an app like root browser to add the needed permissions, the other option still needs root and need to push the prop into sdcard/ and then use an app like root browser to place it in system/ and add the needed permissions
Sent from my Potato powered G2 D800
I was able to root it. then i pushed ls980 build.prop to /system/. I then restarted into download mode and tried to flash ls980zv7 tot. It now sees it as ls980 but giving error.
LAF partition changed. I think the previous rom changed it to 16GB.
I think I am gonna cry :'(

the laf partition is the partition on the phone that contains download mode in general; in other words it won't flash because phone has d802 laf partition you could try changing the partition for the ls980 one but that is kind of asking of a permanent brick
I think it should be same for all 16GB versions. Do sprint come in 16GB variant if yes then I need to find it. else I think its dead
solved. I then flashed ls980zv7 using custom 8974.dll which nuked it and it started booting into fastboot and unable to charge. I then had to copy partition files through fastboot. I then got download mode back. Still I wasn't able to flash zv7 as it complained about laf changed. I then thought for flashing an updating version (zva) thinking it will write its own partitions and may correct it. I used custom 8974.dll and ls980zva.tot and it worked. This guy boxorandyos been a great help in this thread

Way off, he has restored the phone to factory by re imaging it, which overwrites /system where the root binaries are installed to. Yet it still shows rooted as does mine. Rootkeeper will in no way help this, this is a software fuse issue.
If you had read the cmd screen when rooting you would have know that rooting trips rootchecker (unique to lg devices), this is an IRREVERSIBLE action.

If you want a new phone break the digitizers so the screen won't show or modify aboot these are as irreversable more or less but a carrier can't fight if a carrier cannot see. - Karate kid adaptation.

Im not sure how i just got my phone to read unrooted. I factory restored my phone and when i tried to reroot it with ioroot, I messed it up by not having usb connected. On ioroot, the daemon started but froze. I went to restore it in download mode, and it said unrooted. Not sure exactly how I did it.

red rooted still showing
hy, i have the intl. version of the g2 and rooted the phone on the 4.2.2
after 1 day i have reverted to stock, following the thread on xda - there are more others on web, but have the same structure/basics
problem is that in download mode it shows ROOTED in red, although i have reverted to stock 4-5 times and with different stock roms (eur/asian/etc) but nothing new - the red rooted is still there in download mode - the phone is not rooted anymore
i have tried to hard reset but no change!
if any had this issue and resolved in some way - please respond
btw - i have updated to kitkat in march - the red rooted is still there
i have reverted the kitkat to stock 4.2.2 but no success - red rooted still present
i'm worried if my phone needs to be sent to warranty - it will be rejected and then i will brick my brain
On Sprint G2 (LS980) as soon as you flash a .tot root label dissapears so there must be a way on international version as well.
Ive flashed .tot files 3 times so far and root warning went away each time.
if you are on 4.4.2 d802
just flash this file from recovery

i dont know what to do.....
if you are on kitkat with stock rom - check again in download mode - maby it shows rooted as my does - checking the second time it shows rooted on my phone

THANK YOU, Sir.
Update:
Having trouble with Flashify. It doesn't see a recovery image, I guess. I tried putting the zip file, the extracted folder, AND the single file into Flashify's Recovery folder. No go. It doesn't see a file to flash for some reason. Am I doing something wrong?
Single file would be the way to go. No clue, have never actually used it. Just backed it up. Sorry. Maybe just may work for me. Shouldn't you be able to remove from a tot or extracted kdz bin?
Reverting to stock recovery in order to accept OTA updates ...
For anyone trying to apply any OTA updates, e.g., from Verizon, after modding your phone, restoring back to your previous version and wanting to go back to stock (for WHATEVER reason):
As you may have found out, trying to apply OTA updates with a custom recovery seemingly bricks your phone (it doesn't really, there are some nifty "dd" Linux commands you can use to get your phone to break out of the boot-loop it's stuck in).
Since I went back to my previously backed up stock ROM, I also wanted to revert to my stock recovery so that I could accept Verizon's OTA updates (if only because the popup reminders are annoying and a drain of the battery).
Here are the steps I followed, thanks to this thread:
- I downloaded the recovery.img from the link in Partager.info's post (#4) (choose the model subfolder which corresponds to your variant of the G2).
- I used "adb push" to copy the file from my computer to /sdcard (good to have on the sdcard partition as the rest get blown away when you flash a ROM)
- I installed "Flashify (for root users)" (found in the Play Store) on my phone
- I ran Flashify and chose the stock recovery file I downloaded which was in the /sdcard folder as expected (no need to put image files in specific folders; whatever works best for you)
- It flashed it in a blink of the eye and asked me to reboot; I did and it's worth mentioning I got the Android with the triangle (*clench*)
- I held the power button and forced it to shut down/reboot
- Upon reboot, I saw the Verizon boot animation (*unclench*)
- I checked for an update from Verizon and it prompted me to reboot and apply it; I clicked "Install now"
- It successfully rebooted and applied the update; what a relief to see the firmware update splash screen
Pfew. Thanks again, Partager.info and Steamer86.

This will make your device think it is a d801 but that is what we want to have USA DOMESTIC GSM
all features seem to be working, though i have not tested 100% of everything.

Rest Unknown
any other issues let me know.
I am not responsible for the damages you or I and my related files might cause to your device.
YOU MUST BE ROOTED;
WIPE, DATA, WIPE CACHE, INSTALL ROM, INSTALL GAPPS, REBOOT.
ENJOY!
This is my question based on his thread:
Could you please help me? Someone I bought this phone from had done this.. and I didnt know it was a custom rom so I flashed the Tmobile stock recovery KDZ thinking i could unroot and get my OTA updates. Turns out it was a sprint phone, and so the tmobile stock rom is unstable, rebooting all the time and so i cant even root now. I cant flash the TOT file from sprint because the phone now thinks its a D801 (due to the CRC check)... could you help or explain to me how I can get sprint stock rom back on this phone ? I don't know how its possible when it keeps resetting, and wont allow me to install Sprint TOT because LGFLASHTOOL says "wrong model" .. is there a way to make this phone think its a LS980 again intead of D801 in the settings... and please keep in mind it reboots every minute or minute and a half on me so if your method involves a bunch of work that i cant pull off quickly im a little it screwed... i figured there might be a way to edit the model number.. please help if you can, i just bought the phone and if its bricked i just lost a lot of money... thanks in advance

I'm going to assume he knows how since he is taking about files that's can only be flashed through the lg tool.
And that's all I would be able to recommend to you to fix it would be follow the back to stock method for our device.. Maybe abd a recovery to the phone that's all I would think to do.
Are you on sprint If so do you have insurance you can go to a sprint service center. They can advanced exchange it for you but don't tall about rooting it or flashing a tmobile firmware on it or they won't do that. Or have a buddy with sprint & insurance activate your device they can do the exchange on it is free that way.

if you can get into recovery, just simply adb push or adb sideload your ls980 rom. that should allow you to use download mode as a ls980 after it returns to a ls980 build.prop

place your new rom on the device, flash that (just like a normal rom)

I'm trying again today, so I got TWRP on it this time, and I sidenloaded "sprint T-mobile rom" and it flashed successful and it shows 2.2gb as space taken up the rom. But, when I reboot I get:
fastboot
udc_start()
so now what?
edit: so now I'm getting this:
[780] fast boot mode start
[830] udc_start()
[990] -reset-
[1000] -port charge-
[1090] fastboot: processing commands
Also it says:
E: Unable to find partition size for '/sb12'
E: Unable to find partition size for '/sb13'
seems it's has gotten worse than before...i think doing cache clearing after flashing the rom wasn't a good thing...
so, another update in download mode, at the bottom in red it says B96 and rooted...so what does this mean?

Hi, I have a D806 G2 and I have a big problem.
After an error modifying my build.prop I was left with a broken phone. It wouldn't boot to the os.
I was rooted and with TWRP so I restarded and tried to revert to the old build.prop (that's the only backup I had) and it didn't work.
I followed the tutorials to go back to stock (I had done it once before to update my phone while rooted, but that time the phone was working fine).
Well, to my surprise, given that I only had recovery or download mode, the process started but failed with an error.
Now, I don't have a System, meaning that my system folder is empty so I really don't have an os in the phone, and all procedures to flash a rom, fail.
I have tried flashtools and everyother tool but nothing, can't put a rom in the phone.
Now I'm kinda desperated because It is too expensive for me to loose the phone (things in Argentina are far too expensive) and when I put it in download mode it clearly says ROOTED so I will have a problem with guaranty.
Please, someone give me a hand!!

Can you still get to TWRP (recovery)? Which version of TWRP are you using? Do you still have the zip file of the ROM you're on?

Sorry was too crazy to post most data.
No I don't have a backup of my rom, but I got a backup from another phone and it doesn't work
Gladly I could use a USB OTG to copy Carbon and Gapps to the phone and I could install that so the phone is working now.
The problem is going back to stock because I would need a backup of a D806 rom and I don't have one.
I'm on TWRP 2.6.3.4 and it's working fine now. Thank you very much.,
Very simple and very lucky you still can access download mode. Just using flashtools to flash TOT again then its all go back to original stock.

I would if I could, but my IMEI reads 0, hence no luck with LG software.
Luckily I could boot the phone to an AOSP rom (copied via USB OTG to my phone -I still have recovery-)
So, I have an AOSP rom, I can get a backup of a similar rom to my stock rom -from a user in another forum- and I can install that backup (foing it ATM)
BUT, my IMEI is 0 so LG software doesn't fully recognize my rom and drivers don't fully install
HELP??

Hello,
Recently i installed flumics rom on my phone and everything was fine but today i wanted to go back to stock rom and it seems i can't.
I installed the latest lg usb drivers and downloaded the latest lgup with uppercut
When i try to install the kdz file from the lgup everything is working fine and it finished 100% then the phone reboots and stucks at lg logo then after a while it reboots again and same thing stucks again.
ALso when i try to flash the kdz file again in the lgup it shows Fulmics rom 1.6
Tried to do a factory reset from lg recovery as well didn't help
Don't know how to turn off the device fully so i have some battery left.
Anyone can help me with this? do i need to send it back to lg?
If you have TWRP still just flash stock rom and bootloader

Sadly the kdz files i flashed restored the stock recovery.
Also i tried the lg bridge as well but that didn't work either.
I have left the phone doing its thing for more than 45 mins, i guess that is not normal.
Use LGUP and Uppercut to flash stock. Need drivers and put phone in download mode. It will find the port and then flash the firmware.

I downloaded 3 different kdz files for h870 and none of them worked.
The strange thing is why after i flash the kdzs the lgup shows Fulmics Rom v1.6 under the version category.
Is there any way to flash recovery via download mode?
Enter bootloader and try to flash twrp again. Then flash the stock rom and all will be fine.
