Sprint diagnostics - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are there any ROMs that include the ability to update the sprint profile or apps to do so? Every phone I've had before this had the option included in with stock builds but I've flashed a few based on stock and the feature was missing. Also for some devices developers have included in with their asop build. I wouldn't mind flashing a different ROM but I'm looking for the fastest way. With a ROM flash I can create a backup then flash, update profile and then restore backup of desired ROM.

Only pure stock builds from your original device like Optimus, since you're on Sprint, will have it. There are quite a few stockish ROM's that do not, such as CloudyFa ROM's which are actually based on another device.

custom stock rom?

wasn't sure where to post this? does anyone know if any devs plan on making a custom, debloated, deodexed stockish rom for us? maybe something with some tweaks and a jellybeanish theme? i know we all want aosp but id like something to tide me over until aosp get a bit more stable.
id gladly donate to the cause.

Give them some time. We have several Devs with this device that are known for making the roms that you speak of. You don't want a rushed product.

Could a modified Touchwiz rom take up much less space than the stock one? I like a lot of things about the S4's TW, but it's also tempting to go to CM or similar and free up a few GB.

/system and /data are different partitions. Debloated ROMs use less space, but it is still stuck on the /system partition. Now you can move some apps to /system if you want but right now no one has repartitioned the S4 (and if you did it could mess s lot of stuff up

A fully stable ROM for this device?

I'm looking for a stable ROM for my friend's S4. He wants something different to the stock bloated experience but he's not into flashing or anything of this sort. So I'm looking for a ROM that I can flash to his device that doesn't need too much tweaking or updating, so he can forget about it and just use it as his daily driver. His device it's already rooted with cwm recovery. It doesn't has to be something out of this world, but at least something that won't give him much bugs with a daily basic use.

I'll try the Goldeneye one, it's debloated and it's still stock so it'll be of ease use for my friend and he'll like the extra space and fluidity.

It is up to user preference. Each ROM is different and has its own bugs/quirks, as does each phone. While we may have the exact same device, they all have their own personalities.

[Q] Any 4.4 based ROMS available?

It's been a while since I checked out ROMs for the G2. I remember most, if not all, ROMs were kit kat versions based on the JB source and different radios were required to correct some issues.
With 4.4 source being out for a while now, are there any 4.4 based ROMs for the G2 yet? If so, what are some?

I've heard very, very good things about Mahdi, but I'm not a big fan of the stock UI.

don't know not a fan of aosp roms on my g2 mainly because of the features available on stock that aren't on aosp
main reason you don't see sokp around the main thread is because they decided to post device specific threads and reason you may have not heard of it is because they lack ls980 support but you just want to look at rom here you go:
d800 sokp
just by looking at features section you can see they offer tons of options

Yeah, SOKP is the sonic open Kang project. Their ROM is literally PACKED with features. It's a little buggy at times. I think last time I used it my screen would become unresponsive and I'd have to reboot. May have been a modem issue though, not sure. It's still based on 4.2 source instead of 4.4. Just hacked to run kit Kat.

First custom rom?

Hi,
I have just rooted my phone. Which rom should I flash if battery backup, screen colour (yellowish) are the issues I am facing on stock rom?
Or should I apply some patched to correct these problems on stock rom itself?

Also I don't need wifi calling or Fi per se.

Dirty Unicorns is my preference in Rom's. I've tried several and it's all up to personal preference. A custom Kernal is what you will need to flash to be able to change the colors. Several Rom's have a Kernal built in that allows this also. I've used Elite, Elemental and AK kernals. They are all good.
