[Q] Trying to get back to stock ROM, everything has failed - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi, I tried to install cyanogen on my SGH-I337 and failed, after that I've spent hours trying to get it back to stock but nothing has worked. I currently can't access recovery menu if I try to I only get the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" screen with this on the top left:
Code:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I337
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x0
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0X30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
eMMC BURST MODE: enabled
I cannot get past this screen, though I can get into Download Mode. I tried installing my stock rom through Odin several times but failed.

Do you know what firmware you're on?

I suppose you have one of the latest firmwares Mk2 , nb1 or nc1. Either of this build you are not allowed to flash a different kernel to the stock like the cm kernel.
Follow this guide and flash the file on post 2. Full nb1 to get back to stock.

Sadly no. I know that I was initially on 4.4.2.

Yes 4.4.2 is kitkat and the bootloader is locked so we are not allowed to flash anything but stock base.
This the file if you can't find it.

Yes just use Odin 3.09 and flash that file on the AP box. That will get you back to stock. I guess you know you have to download Odin and that file on your computer make sure you install the Samsung drivers. The Odin link is on the opening post of the first I gave you.

Hi I am on MF3 and I flashed a SHOStockRom and installed the kernel without reading further... Needless to say I can get into recovery and download mode .. Can I use this method using odin 3.09 .. I am new to the gs4 and came from the tmobile GS2 .. Any help is much appreciated . I made a back up in twrp using safestrap but I can no longer boot into it ..Only the stock recovery I can boot into.Im guessing since mf3 has a locked bootloader then this method should work Hope that covers most of the details

[Q] I think I soft bricked my S4

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M from Koodo (Telus). And I wanted to get the latest 4.3 android on my phone, so I installed Cyanogenmod 10.2, and flashed my phone using that. I then realised that I didn't like the new display and wanted my old phone's display and firmware.
So I then proceeded to flash my phone with my Stock firmware using Odin 3.07. My phone didn't start up normally and is stuck on the part where the phone shows the Samsung logo. I can turn off the phone and boot into download mode, and I can access the recovery using Volume Up + Home + Power button. I have also tried to us the Firmware upgrade and initialization using Samsung Kies, but that doesn't change anything. Odin recognises my device, and Kies lets me flash using firmware emergency recovery, but I cannot open the files using the directory on my computer
At Odin Mode it shows the following:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I337M
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
I backed up all my data prior to flashing using Cyanogenmod, so I don't care if I lose my data. (Also my constant flashing will definitely stop once I fix my phone). Is this phone soft bricked or hard bricked? How do I fix this? Thank you in advance.
Edit: I was also using Clockworkmod Recovery. AND YAY! I can actually boot into Android system recovery. Sorry, I simply was not holding the buttons correctly. Should I do a factory reset?
Try jusy volume+ and ppower then do a factory reset

I booted into recovery and pressed "wipe data/factory reset" and then pressed "reboot system now" but nothing changed when the phone rebooted.

You need to Odin the nb1 tar file. Then do the nb1 to nc1 update to get back to where you were. Did you try to install a custom recovery, twrp or cwm? You can't do that safestrap is the only recovery you can use.

i have the same problem. can not root, it stuck, can not install ofiicial rom it stuck too but installing cwm with odin allows phone to open and work

Soft brick N9005 please help me recover

Sorry if the question has previously been answered.
I have N9005 and tried to flash a ROM.
I have tried to flash using Odin on my PC, as I have previously used this successfully.
On this occasion it failed after partially flashing.
I have tried kies and kies3 both without success.
I suspect the solution may be simple but I am new to Samsung Odin kies etc.
edit fixed with help
I am familiar with adb and fastboot commands if these are useful.
Grateful for any help to recover a working phone, don't mind if I have to wipe phone data

Or if you can get into download mode, fly over to djembay's thread and grab one of his images and flash via odin.

I will try Odin with the stock rom you suggest.
Can I select any ROm from djembay's thread ?
the one I have tried is N9005XXUDMJ7-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX-FREE-ODEX-BL-FREE, is this ok
What firmware are you on currently? Do you know? Bootloader etc? - is your KNOX already tripped? -- the ROM from that thread WILL trip it just so you are aware.

From this post:
"The latest 4.3 official firmware (MK4 or later ) has KNOX enabled bootloader and can't be downgrade. So, don't try to downgrade If your bootloader is KNOX enabled."
That means: Check your bootloader through an app like Z-Device (playstore). If the last letter before the number is up to (and including) "J" you made the first price, but if it is "K" and up -> forget about downgrading.

[Q] OTA update after root on Stock? (SM-G900T) "Device was modified in an unauthorize
Just ran the root guide posted by Chainfire and it worked like a dream. I now have a rooted phone on TouchWiz like I wanted. Unfortunately, there is also an update for the phone available which refuses to install giving me the "Device was modified in an unauthorized way" error. Is there a way to get around this problem while remaining on stock? Or am I now left with relying on custom ROMs to get updated versions of Android?
No, you can download firmwares from wherever (eg Sammobile) and flash via ODIN. You may have to re-root.
keep in mind if you update it will lock your bootloader since these phones came with unlocked bootloaders. no way in hell am i stupid enough to let them lock my bootloader.
