Smart alert not wokring - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys my smart alert and direct call functions are no longer working. The only one I'm looking for is smart alert as its handy. It definitely did work but now it seems to have died. I see a number of other people also had this issue but i haven't seen any fix yet. The only thing i did do since it worked was rooting but i doubt that has had any impact.
Thanks

Annoying Details: Message Notification Light and SMS

First of all, great job on the special edition ROM. Maybe I don't get why we in general would all want to calculate sun positions or use some of the other zillion apps, but hey... it's still more stable and largely better working than the OEM crap.
However... the blinking message light you can set for SMS, at least for me, doesn't act happy any longer. It certainly will turn on but not off after you read a message. Anybody else have this problem? It also sucks (casually unrelated) that there is no audible repeat notification that a call or SMS was missed. My cheapo $20 Motorola has that feature working great!
Also, my GPRS connection is dead. Don't know where to go on that, it worked after I set everything after the ROM update... for about two hours. Since then, no dice. It'll probably be difficult to get T-Mobile to troubleshoot it considering that it's not really their ROM anymore...
Thanks for any insights!

Indeed, some bugs exist. I also notice that SMS notified flash light can NOT turn off after I read a message. I try a dozen of times, still can't find a solution. So I just disable that function.
Another odd problem, I set the sound for missed call. The funny thing is, the "missed call" tone immediately comes after the "ring tone" if I don't pick up the call. Sadly, the "missed call" tone doesn't repeat any more. How do I really know I got a missed call? :x
try this
http://geocities.com/myppcpe2003/index.htm
try this one: MY|PHONE|PROFILES
it resolves some problems you listed[/url]
So NOBODY cares? No audible missed call notifications...
I have all the latest and greatest, thanks to you guys, mainly XDA-Developers and Jeff!!!
Still, no audible reminders of missed calls or unchecked SMS. Despite searching around all over, can't find any software to make up for this lacking feature.
What's up? No solution? Nobody cares/doesn't mind checking their phones for missed calls and such?

Does the phone still work I mean can you place a call?
Also where are you located?
Yea the phone works fine, it's just how all these are. I've tested four of them, they ALL do it. You miss a call, get voice mail, whatever. There is no provision to get repeated audible notifications like you can on any regular cell phone.
The best you can do is have the light continue blinking at increased intervals.
I've used 3.16, 4.00.5, 4.0016, and now 4.00.11. Same thing on all of them. Radio is now 6.24, was 6.18. Was same thing.
I don't think it's a bug, but a lacking feature.
I'm in the U.S.
Why, can you turn repeating audible notifications of a missed call on?
I agree that both 6.24 and 6.18 are lame and thats why I'm using AT&T's Radio Stack version A.20.10.
Sorry never heard of a repeating audible notification for missed calls though but you might want to take a look at the below programs:

[Q] VOIP call notification in stand by mode

Apoligies if this has been answered already. I ve searched a lot but havent found a solution thus far. i use portsip and nimbuzz for voip (over 3g). My problem is that I do not get any incoming call notifications when my phone is on stand by due to which I miss a lot of sip/skype calls. Is there a possible fix for this. I have tried using pcshutxp which would only turn off my display light, but this drains my battery real quick. Thanks for all the help.

There are at least 2 pieces of software floating around this forum that can be used to keep wave device powered on in unattended mode. This should allow rings to be played.
Hi Stepw. Thanks for the quick reply. Can you please direct me to the 2 softwares in this forum that you mentioned. Thanks again.

HD2 Dropping calls

Hi guys, this is my first post - very exciting.
I've had the HD2 for 3 weeks now and I love it. The only issue I have is with it dropping calls. I don't think it handles the handover from cell to cell very well but that's not my main issue as it happened from time to time on other phones too. My main query is with the clever accelerometer related functions. According to the manual, during a call if you put it face down it activates the speaker. Mine just ends the call. I think that it is getting confused during calls if I move and cutting me off. Done two hard resets but no joy. Does anyone know how to disable the function either through settings or registry?
I've looked around for quite a while on the forum and can't find what I'm looking for. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Cheers
Dan
PS It has stock O2 ROM, BSB tweaks, etc

In terms of dropping calls, it is usually due to the handover sequence between cellsites, rather than the handset itself.
I'm guessing you are on O2? If so, PM me your location and I'll get my "inside contact" to take a look at any outstanding issues there.
I must admit, I've not used that accelerometer feature yet, but I have turned it on. (Under Settings -> Sound & Display -> Ring and Notifications)
Erm.. This might sound like a dumb post but I was having problems with call disconnection whilst in the middle of calls. I discovered the problem - I'm LEFT HANDED!
When I used the device I held it in my right hand and type/operate with my left. When I held the phone to my right ear to have a conversation I was occasionaly touching my cheek with the call-end button and that's how I was getting repeated disconnections - true story.
I am now a practicing ambidextarian...
Thanks for getting back so quickly guys
a practicing ambidextarian eh............ I wish I could breathe underwater! (sorry I couldn't resist it)
I don't think I'm cutting off the call through contact with the screen all the time though but yes I have done it more than once!
Thanks for the info rp-x1. I'm in Settings -> Sound & Display -> Ring and Notifications and the only thing that looks relevant is the 'Quiet ring on pickup' option and I'm not sure it's related. For instance, I got a call early yesterday morning and answered the call in bed. When the wife elbowed me and I turned on my side the phone assumed I was putting it face down and ended the call. I'm looking to disable this function.
Dropping Phone calls even in locked screen state
I am also dropping a alot of calls . Not sure if it is related to face down as the phone is always upright after answring a call. May be the call end button.
Having said that the phone was locked when I received a call today. I moved the slider to answer said "hello", then after 3 seconds it disconnected.
Any ideas?
Thanks
edit: Seems like a proxomity sensor issue, judging by other threads. Will continue to search for a fix/workaround.
htc hd2 dropping calls
Hi everyone,
I have a htc hd2 since 1/2011, love the phone BUT i HATE the dropping calls problem!! Please help. also will upgrade to windows 7 help with this problem.
I hardly use the phone to make calls, so I'm not sure if the calls dropping in the past is any relation, but as stated by Danno320, according to the manual ( i went back looking for this ), turning the phone face-down will activate speakerphone.
This is so exciting... so I tried it a few times.
All it did was to disconnect the calls.
I wonder if the action really does turn the speakerphone on.
Anyone who's tried and succeeded?
I also want to know if there's a solution to this now that I know my phone isn't functioning like what the manual said it should be...

Vibration settings

Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding the Legend's vibrator.
First of all, I would like it to vibrate when receiving a SMS only when in vibration mode. So far, all I can find in the settings is the option to either vibrate or not, no matter what profile is used. Am I missing something, or do I need an app that has further settings?
Second, I think the vibrator is a bit loud, and would love to be able to set the intensity. The first day after I bought my Legend, I was in a meeting with just two other people in a small office, and when my phone rang (vibrated) it attracted quite some attention because it was so loud. Again, am I missing where to change this, or do I need an app?
I tried searching the Market for an app to control vibration settings to address both or even just one of these issues, but didn't find anything useful. The closest was Smart Vibrator, which lets me compose vibration patterns for SMS as well as calls, which could solve issue #2 by doing a pattern of very brief vibrations - but it's still not exactly what I am looking for. Have anyone come across something more useful?

How are others finding the vibrate function? Good? Bad? Weak? Strong?
Coming from a Palm Pre, one of the frustrating aspects was a weak vibrator; causing me to miss notifications of calls, txts, emails, etc.

Call notifications (+ accept and reject) on smartwatch with call sound on phone

Hi all,
So my issue was that I want to be able to receive phone call notifications and the ability to accept or reject those calls on my no.1 s9, but i don't want to use the watch as hands free. I've googled it for some time but i haven't found nothing to solve this.
It may sound silly but I believe that this should be implemented through options on smartwatch or even better, if you accept the call in the watch it redirects the sound, if you answer through your phone it shouldn't redirect).
I believe that with some other smartwatches this is the behavior but not with no.1 s9 and, maybe, with some other phones. The reason is simple: you have your phone on your backpack or in your coat, you can check who is calling and then you decide if it's worth to pick up your phone or not.
So, i have created a simple flow with Automagic to handle things just how I believe they should be. Well, not quite because with this flow you can not use your smartwatch as hands free. But if you want to do so, you just have to switch off the flow.
You can find the flow in the attached image.
The idea is simple, the flow is activated by InCallActivity, first thing is to ensure that you can choose what action to take on your watch so while it stills ringing nothing is done (maybe there is some other way of doing this... i don't know how so there is a condition that basically does nothing while true). when you choose what to do the flow moves on to the next step (well... if you reject the call in your watch nothing is done and the flow ends here). If you answer the call, it checks if the watch is connected and if so, disconnects the watch and sets Bluetooth off to prevent that your watch connects again and the sound is, once again, redirected. Here you find another condition that basically holds everything until your call finishes. After all of this, Bluetooth is turned on so that your watch connects again.
It's my first flow with Automagic and this means that maybe I have take some paths that are not the most correct ones but it works.
I'm still testing but tests made so far are giving the exact result that I was looking for.
If you have the same problem that i was facing please share your thoughts and what are the ways you're handling this.
PS: It works for outgoing calls also.
PS2: English is not my native language... sorry if there are some mistakes
Hi,
Nice idea!
Any progress so far?
