1. After changing the USB Charging Flex Ribbon, the notification LED lights constantly green after switching on.
2. My battery drain is also dramatic (max. 7 h before empty). I guess thats another problem though (Android OS/System).
3. The Phone is only charging with USB power, though its connected to different chargers which deliver up to 2A.
I had to change the Flex Ribbon, because the microphone stopped working after getting a hot tee shower. Though the micro is still barely usable because one can understand me very bad.
Is it possible to change only the microphone?
Thanks for any tips.
PS: Im using CM 11 (updating nearly every day)
It could be a faulty part, but water damage causes weird stuff like that too..
Open it up and check your connections, and also inspect the board for any sediment or corrosion deposits. It might be what's causing the short that's keeping your LED on and the USB only accepting a single form of charging. If you find some, clean it with a little isopropyl.

i woke up this morning, and my htc8525, which had just been sitting on a table for a couple days, was off. battery ran out, i thought. i plugged it in to the wall adapter and not even the charging light came on. i plugged it in to a usb cord on my laptop and still no love. i cleaned the battery, charger and sim contacts with rubbing alcohol, still nothing;
i have not flashed it or updated software in it in over 2 months.
any suggestions on what could the problem be or how to fix it!?!?
thanks!
Try with another battery, sometimes batteries are hard to kickstart when they are completely drained.
Mmmm. Yes the charging circuit can get temperamental if the battery runs below 10%. But in that circumstance the Red LED will come on when the charger is connected.
The likely situation is that either:
1
The battery is completely flat and co-incidentally a pin is bent in the usb socket (thus preventing charging) - a somewhat unlikely co-incidence.
2
The internal on-board fuse is blown - this is actually not that uncommon.
You can see a pic of the fuse location in the Service Manuals section here:

I have made the assumption that the charger is operating normally.
similar problem here:
When connected (charger or USB cable) Red LED 'no charning' comes on.
How can I solve this problem and force the device to charge?
Thanks in advance
edit: I've downloaded Service Manual and tried to charge it - it's been almost 4 hours now, and Hermes is still dead, red LED still on (not amber)
To be clear, if the device shows a red LED then it's a charging circuit problem or a faulty battery. If no LEDs light up then it may be the fuse problem, USB connector, or battery connector block problem.
For situations where you get the red LED try these:

So yesterday, my old car's voltage regulator went haywire, and blew the car's main fuses after a couple of seconds.
I was charging my N4 during this incident with a cigarette lighter thingy and was holding aprox. 10% batttery charge.
The N4 is now 100% unresponsive. No amount of pressing any key combination for any amount of time does anything at all.
I have also tried charging it with a generic USB charger for a couple of hours, to no effect.
After that, I tried charging it with my computer's USB3 port for a couple of hours. This warmed up the phone a bit on the back, so it seems the ingoing current is doing something in there.
I am not getting a red LED indicator as most other people seem to be getting.
i fear something important was simply fried inside the phone, but I don't want to give up yet!
- Does anyone have any ideas what else I could try out?
- Are there maybe some small fuses inside the N4 that might be burned due to the voltage spike? Could I maybe replace or bridge them?
- could replacing the battery maybe revive the phone? If so, how could I test if getting a replacement battery will be worth it? Maybe temporarily wiring a compatible voltage to board?

Cool! I must have missed that the USB charging stuff is on a seperate board when i stepped through the N4 teardown!
Do you know if wireless charging goes through this board, too, or would it be using a separate circuit - i.e. should I head over to a friend's and test if I get SOME reaction from the phone when wirelessly charging?
Also: what worries me is that, as i mentioned, the phone's back is getting quite warm when charging it via USB3, so I am afraid that the charge is actually getting to the battery (vs. being stopped at a burnt fuse)
Hi. My phone got wet in my jacket pocket while riding my motorbike. It was probably wet for an hour or so before I got home and started attending to it. Obviously as it was in my pocket it didn't get submerged or anything, but i still found water residue inside. I took it apart, submerged the motherboard in isopropyl alcohol for a couple of hours and then left it to dry. Today it is booting up however I have noticed a couple of problems.
The phone will not start up unless it is connected to a power source when I try to start it. It will stay on if i unplug it.
It won't charge. First time I booted it it said 41%. As soon as I restarted it had dropped to 17% and is now falling even when plugged in. It does claim to be charging when connected however.
The front camera looks like one of those face-morphing apps (Is there's water around the lens or something?).
It also feels quite hot around the top of the phone when it isn't doing anything.
The loud speaker is not working (fine, I'm guessing that's just a case of swapping it out).
Could the first two just be the battery or some sort of issue with the USB interface? Any ideas how to fix these issues? Thanks!
Clean your usb port. I sometimes clean it with 99% alcohol and a toothbrush when I got some moister damage.
When you charge it, check battery stats and see if it says that it's usb connected.
If so, then you might need to flash a custom kernel (I used Ktoonz for it) and raise the charging stream true usb.
Because your usb port got wet, it thinks you are charging true usb. When charging true usb it will charge way slower. It's als probably the cause for your phone getting hot for no reason.

I will try that now! Any idea why it won't start unless connected? I've just not a new battery, no change on that issue.
EDIT: It's now starting fine. I'm waiting for a replacement USB connector to hopefully fix the charging issues. It's still getting hot when it's just sitting on the table and the battery is draining at light speed.

Good to hear it's booting again. From my experience these issues are temporarily and will disappear over time. The kernel and changing the charging speed fixed the same issues for me. I'm now running my normal kernel without any tweaks. So you might try it before swapping the connector. But that's up to you.

I had already ordered the bits and they were only cheap so went ahead and swapped them out. New USB connector flex and new speaker. Frustratingly I still have no sound. It's charging fine but the battery is still dropping off a cliff (like half an hour from fully charged) and it's still getting hot. I even gave the motherboard and connectors a good clean with high purity alcohol and some cotton swabs. Could the board have suffered permanent damage potentially?
Strangely, none of the water indicator stickers have triggered and it's still in warranty so if worst comes to worst I guess I can go down that avenue.
Hi!
I have changed a bad USB port on my gen 1 Nexus 7.
Now the Nexus doesnt seem to recognize that it is plugged in, BUT the battery is actually charging...
The battery icon when shut of shows charging and the Icons and info in the OS shows that battery % is increasing when plugged in, but the status doesnt show as plugged in, or showing the icon with a lightning...
Hardware or software issue?
/Daniel
Okey, some additional information...
Doesnt recognize that it is connected to a PC either... Have tried a factory reset...
Using unrooted stock 4.4.4.
So,
new usb-port/audio-jack part installed
The OS doesnt recognize when and USB cable is plugged in, either for charging or PC connection
The battery DOES charge when connected, the battery indicator when the tablet is shut off shows that is is charging
Have re-checked HW connections
So, conclusion? Any ideas? hardware or software issue?
Try a different cable? Else, it's your USB port.
Yeah I have tried a couple of different cables and plugs... no change.. have a plug that gives 5V,2100mA, and the original gives 5V,2A...
I have looked at the part, and it says Rev1.2, ME370T_IO_FPC, which seems to be the one available at asusparts.eu... So that should be correct...
So, faulty replacement part, is that the most likely conclusion?
It could just be that the battery connector is loose. The method of securing the battery in these devices is weak (essentially sticky tape) and it's easy for the battery to shift such that the connector can get out of alignment. It only takes a little bit to encounter issues and it may look like it's secure when you open up the back, but then you apply a little pressure to the connector with your fingernail and you may find that there's a little give and the connection wasn't as snug as you thought.
Anyways, try disconnecting/reconnecting the battery and see if that changes anything. That's all I've got, unless it's an issue with how you connected the new USB port to the main board (actually, you might want to check the ribbon connector on that too to make sure everything is lined up correctly with the main board; who knows, it might only be partially connected to the main board hence the minimal charging but no data transfer).
Edit: Upon further reflection, a loose battery would have nothing to do with the lack of ability for a PC to recognize the tablet. I would start with looking at the USB port connection to the main board and either checking to see if everything is aligned and/or properly connected, and possibly try reseating it just to be sure.
My nexus 7(2013) had the same thing wrong fix it and it power up but it seem to die out in less time
im on lineage os and after around %30 screen starts to blink and if it blinks much it reboot does anyone know a fix to this its really annoying
Re-seat and probably clean the contacts of the cables running across the battery on the backside. Only the battery connector is known to develop bad solder connections, but here probably just the two display cables are affected and somewhat loose, or just the one for the backlight.

Battery. This is a common issue on samsung devices, you need to replace your battery.
The removal and reattachment of the second ribbon cable(the first is for usb) may actually fix the screen during a battery replacement.
I changed my battery from 2013 just a few weeks ago. Remaining capacity must've been around 50-60 percent. And it was bulging and rear plate and the touchscreen were bending iutward, too.
But no display issues.
Not even the corona (not the flu) effect some guy in the forum recently experienced, which may have been caused by pressure from the battery. And the sudden disapperance of this effect may have meant that there was a gas exhaust from the battery's two cells, flattening them...
