These new restrictions were introduced with Android 4.4. Lots of info out there, e.g. here

You have to root your phone and use this app from playstore and you'll be good to go

Moving Apps

I have just migrated from GS2 to the GS4,
Why cant i move Apps to extSD card to enable me to free-up more of the internal SD memory like i could with the S2??
The option was removed in ics/jb (not sure which version exactly) because Google think that microSD card aren't reliable enough.

I know something called redpill was available for the galaxy note, which changed the external SD card with the internal SD memory and somehow enabled users to move apps across to the external SD Card thought something might be available for the S4 by now??

you can use folder mount from play store. But need to be rooted first. This app works even with GS4.

[Q] Question about installing Apps to SD on I-9505 16GB

I read recently in the papers that there's a way of being able to install Apps onto a SD card in the phone instead of on the device due most of the internal memory being taken up with all kinds of crap.
If so, how do I do it if I install a custom ROM as I'm planning on rooting the phone ASAP and putting in a 64gb microSD card of which there should be plenty of space to install games onto it.
You can transfer app from internal memory to SD card with app.

So if I use a App like App2SD, there shouldn't be a maximum size limit on installing apps to the SD card, except the one for the SD card itself, I take it?
You are correct

To be clear, the stock app to sd implementation is extremely limited. You only move the apk. All of the app's data still resides on your internal

FolderMount does a pretty decent job - just gotta know how to set it up

Problem on SD CARD G900H

Hello all developer
I have a problem with my Galaxy S5 G900H, I can not save pictures on my sd card or other apps, Please Is it that there's a solution for this problem or is it that there's people have this problem
mod edit: no need to yell with huge tex size
It's an android problem. Can be fixed with root.

Android 4.4.x restrict using SD card.
Root -> Link2SD app
Are you saying that you cannot save pictures using camera to save to your microsd?
My S5 is able to do this. Stock unrooted rom.
Use "SDFix" for Kitkat from Playstore.
After clicking fix you can uninstall that app.
This worked immediately. However, you will have to root first.

I have no issues taking pics and video to sd card. Did a few GB just yesterday.

Root your device, make a small partition in your sd card about 2 gigabytes, then download link2sd app and you're good to go.. Now you will have the ability to transform anything to your ed card.

same problem
Still the same problem, I install SDFix and other apps thank you to you all, but I think the problem on the smartphone, as I have a friend with same problem on Galaxy s5
I haven't got any better advice since I don't own this model or at least a similar one. Sorry I couldn't help you out...:| Best of luck

First check where you are saving them to. Go to camera click the gear wheel top left. Then with all the options scroll there's more rows of options you don't see. Below flash options is device storage options.

You don't give much details , but if you have the latest android update that is your problem since Kitkat does not let you use the card on the regular basis. To fix this issue your phone must be rooted to apply fix with an app from the store.

How to move entire apps to SD card.

Hi all!
I would like to move huge apps to my SD card now that I am rooted. (Forget the class number but it's high and it's a 16gb model)
I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53428200&postcount=1
I downloaded the app off of the play store. When I go to any APP2SD app it still says my device is not supported. How do I go about doing this?
Check out "SDFix: KitKat Writable MicroSD"

But you have to be rooted first for it to work. You're welcome. ??

I know I said I installed that!!!!
What do I do after that? The APP2SD apps still won't move my apps to my sd card.
Had to remove your link to google play it wouldn't let me post it lol.
If by huge apps you mean games that have obb files, try foldermount..works for me.

so I used this app and when I rebooted the Galaxy S5 boot screen showed the lock icon (unlocked) with "Custom" written underneath it. don't suppose that's anything to be concerned about?

I tried using the app to mount the AC4 game/map browser. I'm not sure what it did but it didn't take it off internal storage.
I'm still looking for a way. For example the ACiV app only moves about 40 of the 200 mb. Those root app 2 sd cards don't seem to work.
