[Q] Weird WiFi issue. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all if this isn't the right place to post this please let me know, i'm not a regular poster on the site but i really need some help.
I have a Galaxy S4 (SGH-i337M), i think it is a Canadian version or some sort of ATT variant, it is the official model for my country (Mexico) and the carrier Telcel, i have the basic knowledge about flashing roms, rooting phones and installing mods, i had a Galaxy S2 before where i learned the basics, when i first got the S4 the first thing that i did was to install Cyanogenmod, because it worked perfect for me in the last phone that i owned, and i tought that in the S4 it would be the same, well it wasn't, i installed Cyano via the Windows software assistant the it has because my computer doesn't recognize any Samsung phone, it is an old computer and it has a "lite" version of Windows that may be missing some things, i installed Kies and the Samsung drivers but nothing of that worked, but that's not what this thread is about, i started using Cyano and everything was fine, some bugs here and there but nothing too bad, untill i started to experience this WiFi issue where i couldn't turn on my WiFi after a reboot, it was weird, sometimes when i rebooted the phone it worked, and sometimes it didnt, the i flashed the 4.3 official stock Android and i dont recall having this issue, but i'm not sure, after a couple of days i decided to try paranoid Android, which i think is a Cyanogenmod based rom, i tought that maybe this kind of bugs were solved in Paranoid, it wasn't the same thing happened, then i started to look on the internet A LOT of threads cam up, but nothing about fixing my specific model, the i tried to install the Google Play Edition rom for the i9505 since my model and that are compatible as of roms, i did this because my model was listed as the "Canadian version" of the phone, but i'm in Mexico, it didnt make sense, i installed the Google Edition but the problem is still there, and now i'm here, trying to figure out if my phone is broken someway or if there's a solution, so i'm asking to the people who actually know what they're are doing to their phones, because as i said i have just the basics, maybe i ****ed something up without knowing, i can't send the phone to warranty because i bought it to someone else, and i dont know what to do, the last thing that crossed my mind was that maybe the modem on those roms is not compatible with mine but i'm not sure, the two roms for my phone in sammobile have a baseband that ends in "MK6" and the newer ends in "NC1" which is the same termination of the Google Play Edtion and Paranoid, do you guys think that there's something i can do? i don't want to flash the stock Telcel rom because i cant use Xposed modules that are exclusive for AOSP roms, is there a solution or should i sell the phone? i'm really desperate right now.

[Q] Data Drops During Calls. Please Help.

Hello guys. I have the n900t, I am now running tweaked s5 base n4 style v6.0. And I run alot of n9005 ROMS as well. With that said here is my issue. For only the past few weeks ( month tops) every time i make or recieve a phone call my data drips down to hspa. The second i hit call and right before my phone rings is when it happens. After my call the data takes a very long time to jump back up. This is a new issue and i have no idea what it is. However, i did flash back to a stock ROM and the issue was solved. And i forget which rom it was but it was soley TE based and there were no issues. I did try to flash a modem but it didnt take. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Or can anyone suggest a fix for it.
Thank you for your help.
bump.
Still having the issue. I tried to flash a new modem and it just failed anyway. Dont know if I should try a radio. I just cant fivure out why this happened out of no where. I was fine no matter what ROM I was running. Now...this crap. Please guys, 40 people saw this, can SOMEBODY please help.

1) Quite strange - your picture suggests you are on Verizon yet you comment about a N900T in the forum for the INTERNATIONAL Note 3. On what network are you? Are you aware that there might be network-specific factors involved which could only be visible for other users on exactly the same network in exactly the same region?
2) Try stock ROM (with corresponding stock modem) from a location with very good signal.
5 he physical device is an n900t, however, I am running as of now, the hyper drive note 5 port with n4 UI. When I do flash back to a full stock TW ROM all is good, A FEW TW based ROMs seem to be OK. Like this one, the calls do not affect the data signal. But most ROMs do effect it in that way. You said that it shows I'm running Verizon?
But I am very curious why all of the sudden I am having this issue. I have never had it before. Except with a few specific AOSP based ROMs. I just can't figure out what it is that's causing it. I have done vigorous wipes of the phone to no avail.
And I am in Philadelphia so there really is no place that is actually bad reception (except in the susubways of course...lol)
And thank you for your reply.

1) Your avatar mentions Verizon for some reason.
2) If it is all OK with the stock ROM then it is a problem with the custom ROM, ask in the specific thread for that specific ROM. Most likely it has something to do with the modem and the corresponding RIL.
So when ever a new ROM is flashed the modem is flashed as well. Unless the dev says otherwise?

S4 i9505 Orange need to flash US AT&T rom

Hello!
I bought my mom an inexpensive S4 and it came with Orange wireless service provider and it's in French out for the box.
It's having some problem suck as MMS issues and all that, not to mention it's just being a pain in the butt to work with.
I want to flash the stock AT&T ROM to it ASAP so she will stop yelling at me about it, but I can't seem to find a copy around here. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong areas, but I would appreciate some help locating it, thanks!
Also, it's been a while since I have done any ROM changes, so maybe showing me how they do it now would be helpful as well, thanks.
-Dave M.
AT&T ROMs cannot be installed on your phone. Odin will reject it at best, and you could hard brick the S4.
Unlock the phone by using the service menu exploit, RegionLock Away, or by purchasing an unlock code. Once the S4 is unlocked, you can install an unbranded firmware in place of the Orange-branded firmware. Keep in mind that this phone will never get LTE in the states as the frequencies are different.
Yes, I was made aware of the no 4G, no LTE issue with using a European phone by the guy who didn't know what he was doing when he programmed in the wrong APN settings at the AT&T corporate store...
Supposedly, the company I bought it off said this phone was unlocked already, so what then? It's been about 2 years since I did anything with ROMs, so I might be a little out of the know about the new stuff, thanks.
If it's already unlocked, then you can install any I9505 stock ROM you want. Download this ROM from Sammobile and follow the instructions on that page to install it. It's UK firmware so at the language prompt it will default to English. Be aware that you may have to flash the ROM twice before the S4's wireless radios function properly.
If everything goes as expected the APN should be automatically set. If not there are tutorials all over the place on adding an APN.
EDIT: Download the drivers from Samsung's website if not included in the Odin download on Sammobile. You'll need to have them installed for Odin to function.
Thanks. Now, how can I check to make sure this one is unlocked? Service mode is weird, because I had to do the Q followed by 0000 in key input to get it to give me the menu...
Put your Mom's AT&T SIM into the phone. If it asks for an unlock code then the S4 is still carrier locked.
Oh, okay. It's been working for like 2 months like this, lol.
Aren't there still a few carriers that aren't blocked for other regions? I just want to be sure, absolutely. I just want to know if there's another way to check.
Since it was Orange by origin (and those guys tend to lock stuff) I would say you would NOT be able to run AT&T on it as well (Orange ONLY lock - not really region lock)
When you say AT&T works I would assume previous owner already did what was needed and unlocked this device.
Sounds solid, thanks a bunch, fellas.
I just really wish there were a touchwiz ROM from AT&T for this particular model...
No, no you don't. If anything, you have it far easier by not having AT&T firmware. Unless of course you happen to LIKE encrypted (i.e. locked) bootloaders. AT&T and Verizon lock their bootloaders, which makes the simple things like rooting, bloatware removal, and custom ROMs far more difficult, and in some cases bordering on the impossible.
Your Mom may not give a damn, but by not having to deal with the headache of a locked bootloader you've made your life easier.
I've dealt with several so-called finished custom roms, such as the likes of such as Cyanogenmod and others, and lets just say they aren't quite as solid as the stuff that the phone comes with.
There's always something that doesn't work like it's supposed to or some important app that won't work somehow. Last time, I went with a stock rom, custom recovery (I like TWRP) and rooted the device and it ran just like I wanted. SO yeah, I'd like to use a stock touchwiz rom for the US if it's available somewhere.
I understand not wanting to toss a custom ROM on the phone, but that wasn't the point of my post. The ROM I prompted you to download several posts upthread is a stock Touchwiz ROM. In fact, up until this morning it was the same ROM I was using on my O2 I9505 that I'm using here in the US. As the I9505 is not available and never will be available from a carrier in the United States, there will never be a US ROM available for this phone. The ROM I had you download, unlike the AT&T ROM, has no carrier branding of any kind, no carrier bloatware, and no locked bootloader. As a result, you don't have the carrier meddling around with the ROM and making the experience worse by having crud added.
My point is, bluntly, that you're far better off now than you would be with an AT&T device. So, hopefully, now that you got everything sorted out your Mom can enjoy the phone.

[Q] Restoring to Stock ROM

I don't always ask for help online because I believe that whatever problem I have, someone out there already has it, so I just need to look better. Not this time though. I'm literally dying.
I've installed Custom ROMs before and reverted them back to stock before but it was on a Galaxy NEXUS. It was seamless.
I have a n900W8 Note 3, this is the canadian variant. After a long day, I managed to root it and install CWM recovery, but didn't install a custom ROM. The next day (today), I installed an AOSP ROM and it worked fine but I wanted a TouchWiz ROM. After trying out 2 and getting stuck in a bootloop, I went back to the AOSP ROM. I then tried one last one, X-NOTE. Apparently it wiped my internal storage. You should see what happened to me when I realized that.
So I now just want to go back to the stock firmware but that's not easy, because I live in Jordan, which is in the middle east, but my phone is a canadian variant. But, The CSC Code for it was TTT, which is for Trinidad and Tobago. Wait, there's more. When Installing X-Note, it asked me which CSC code do I want to install. it had 5 options I think and TTT wasn't one of them. I chose BTU which is for UK.
So now I want a firmware that isn't carrier locked so I can use whatever SIM Card I put in it.
There's this article, and it says :
"You might find 2 types of firmwares even within a particular model number. Such firmwares are generally known as Branded and Unbranded ones. If your device is locked to a network provider/carrier, it’s a branded device. Therefore you must install a firmware that is meant for your carrier. Similarly, if you are able to use any SIM card on your phone, it’s unbranded, and so you can install any firmware on it that is for unbranded Note 3.", well, how the hell do I know which one is branded and which one isn't :crying:.
Seriously guys, I'm desperate for help. The phone actually isn't mine, that's why I'm freaking out. I still have my Galaxy Nexus and I love it. Even after 3 years, it is still working perfectly. The developer support for it is absolutely amazing.

Galaxy S3 i9300 - Not registered on network

Hi at all! I'm new on this forum, so I hope I didn't break any rule. Anyway, I'm trying to recover a friend's phone, a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) International Version.
He said he installed a rom called "Android Revolution HD", which appears to be an improved version of the stock rom. Anyway, now the phone does not register on the network.
The IMEI in the settings menu is correct, also the signal appears to be ok, but when I try to select a network, the phone does not register.
So, I tried almost all the solutions I have found on this site, from trying a bunch of different modems, to installing the whole stock ROM (Android 4.3).
But none of these worked. So, there is a real solution I can try?
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem for months now i have tried a lot of solution but nothing works. i am hoping a senior member can help fix this issue. And just incase some has a viable solution, they should kindly help out. :fingers-crossed:
What I think is you've updated it from 4.1.2 without any EFS backup. Well I had been through the same situation and couldn't find I single thing. In the end I had to get my S3 repaired from a local shop. I think you should go too.

G900P in Europe?

Hi!
I've bought a Galaxy S5 (G900P) from Ebay last year, but I wasn't aware that the Sprint variant is meant for the US. (just realized that now, since I ran into problems). I've used it for almost a year now, running Android 5.1.1 with Cyanogenmod custom ROM on it - here comes the thing - as G900F. (which I just realized aswell, thinking back, and checking screenshots / Windows logs). The About Phone section, the usb drivers in Windows, several other things claimed it was G900F firmware on it - and I was able to use 3g mobile internet on it, was connected to Vodafone Hungary without problems. (turns out I can't use 4g in Europe with this variant, that's my bad). The Recovery mode (used Phil'z) and the Download mode both displayed G900P..I'm not sure what to think now.
The problems started when a few days back, Cyanogenmod announced the 13rd version, and my auto-update on CM12 took its curse, and updated it. The whole thing went smooth, phone rebooted, and instantly got hotter and hotter, draining the battery seriously fast. I've tried several apps, methods, none could help it, so I decided to just stick with Android 6.0.1 (since it came with the CM13).
Through 2 days of suffering and reading forums, pages till my eyes bled out, I managed to have a stock G900P 6.0.1. Android on my phone, it's currently charging, but here comes the fun, I'm not able to get mobile internet (3g). I could connect to Vodafone Hungary somehow, calling, and receiving calls, but there are several other things wrong with the phone like this. I've also tried to revert back to 5.1.1 (even the Stock ROM would be fine, I'd gladly skip on CM12), but Odin failed and failed each and every time.
So my question is: I know it's possible, because I DID have it, but I don't know how to anymore - G900F firmware on a G900P phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(current status - Android 6.0.1 with stock G900P firmware - unrooted / I think/ ; without custom recovery, in Download mode both things say Official)
P.S.: if this subforum isn't the place for a thread like this, I'm asking a mod to please move it to a rightful section, thank you!
