[Q] Is this USB Rom? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm pretty sure this is USB Rom which is based on CyanogenMod and Timur's USB Host kernel yes?
Is there anything special about this other than flashing the ROM and putting background images and shortcuts? And obviously adding a few apps to suit.
Are there any special apps not in the ROM to make it look like this? Other than the apps he has shortcuts to obviously.
I'm looking for a minimalist UI for car install and currently purchasing a Nexus 7 (2012 or 2013 I'm not sure yet).
Sorry for the poor screen capture. Was in a rush and the quality of the video was poor anyway.

Just a bump for a response.
So any idea if this also has a particular launcher? Running on USB Rom

THANK YOU TEAM SYNERGY AND TEAM BAMF FOR MAKING THIS AWESOME BASE...
Eternally SenseleSs
When I bought this phone I thought the ui was nonsense...this is the sort of setup i have been running since I got my phone but only recently have I started cooking, enjoy!
OK, so this rom has working wifi, but requires an android market sd card mounter...The low fat rom has broken wifi but the usb support is there so if you want to pick the more fully featured rom it would probably be this one, the low fat rom is a touch faster and dare i say more stable?
Features
-zipalligned all apks
-removed every last piece of htc bloat I could (to the point of removing the lockring...whoops)
-LauncherPro
-Working Usb (on first boot I was able to mount the filesystem and upload the .zip from my sd card, after a reboot it appears there is no usb, I wonder if it has anything to do with switching lockscreens? Will test and see...for now use multimount https://market.andro...QuZnJlZSJd/Wifi (haha)
-Working Personalize button (this is the first desensed rom of mine to support it along with...
-A (mostly) working htc hub
-speed and agility and SO MUCH MORE
On the note of the shoddy usb, Im toying with some third party mount apps that should fix the issue...
heres another auto mounter https://market.andro...automount&hl=en automount does the trick, there are hundreds of sd card mounter apps evidently though...will be included in next build
Im proud to announce i have a working release of what ice cream senseless was supposed to be....(without theming, there is an xda thread on how to theme launcherpro, its good, go look at it)
a few things worth noting...I used synergy's eternity as a base and could not change the bootanimation or the installer script without getting error messages in CWM, THIS IS NOT A SYNERGY RELEASE big THANKS TO VIRUS for giving me a base to work with you guys rock!
-known issues
When the phone first boots you are going to have a lockscreen but the ring will be missing place your thumb where the ring would be and move your finger across the touch screen as though the ring were there...I lost the lockring while desensitizing it...not to worry, the first thing you should do once you get past the setup is to hit menu>settings>infected tweaks>misc options>choose lockscreen style>honeycomb BE SURE YOU DO THAT!!!!
beyond that this guy seems to be running pretty smooth i have not found any breaks in it though I havent had much time to test it, report back and let me know what you think

New G2 Owner, just installed CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0 BETA 5

Hello,
I am a new G2 owner (moved up after my trusty Nokia N97 was pickpocketed and boy was I living in the past there with Symbian).
So far. I've installed CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0 BETA 5, flashed the Beta 7 Kernel and ran the Supercharger v6 script and am very happy with the results, I just have some hopefully, very easy to answer n00bish questions that I think relate to this mod specifically, so excuse me if the questions seem silly...
1. How do I turn off the cyonogen boot animation, I cant for the life of me find the option in settings!
2. Is there any way to stop my phone vibrating when unlocking from sleep. Again, this may be obvious to all, but I reallly cant find this particular option, after a few days tinkering with the phone.
3. Customising the keyboard, I've seen threads with specific custom keyboards, but is there anyway I can customize my keyboard with this mod to use the custom buttons on my physical keyboard (I'd love to be able to make one of these buttons skip to the next song for example on the default music player....
Thanks
Richard.

I'm not experienced in cyanogen but if there is no option to disable boot animation, you can flash a stock one

Take a look in performance options for boot animation. Not running cm9 currently so not entirely sure.

Thats not questions of begginer
Boot animation you can change with some zip package, you can find them somwhere here or you can install another rom which provides changing boot screen. I believe aokp has this. There are no options for disabling vibrate by unlocking Im affraid. And I leave the last question without answer, because I dont know anything about this stuff.

havent used this rom yet so im not sure if there specific settings for any of these
1: if there is no option you can flash a different one (4ext recovery has an easy way) there are many .zips that can be found all over xda you can flash. or you can get romtoolbox from the market (paid and free) here you can also easily change it along with many things in your rom
2. again havent used this rom so your question may be answered better by the developer, many other roms dont do this so if you get to annoyed there are many other choices
3. just like #2 there are ways but if its not listed as an option under settings than it may be a bit too difficult - may need to try out other roms that have this as a built in function
4. dont know why im bothering to answer this for i obviously dont have answers for you
You really shouldn't be using a non-stable aftermarket rom. Move over to Cyanogen 7.1 Stable if you value your sanity. Beta class roms are not usable as daily drivers and you will encounter gamebreaking bugs.
As to address your specific questions:
1: You cannot disable boot animations directly. You can replace the file, located in system>media>bootanimation.zip or delete it completely. Note: this location is relevant for Gingerbread roms, I do not know the location in ICS based roms.
2: I haven't ever encountered this design decision but it sounds dumber than a cat jumping into molasses. I swear to god some people should not be coding for a hobby.
3: Remapping keyboard keys to do the custom functions that you're requesting is not possible without detailed technical knowledge of the code interface. Do not attempt it. Learn to live with holding down the volume rocker to switch songs.
Flashed back to andromadus testing and the feature to disable boot animation is indeed in setting>performance. It may not be there in cm9 beta. You can always jump ship to either andro build. They are both very good.

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I perhaps did jump in at the deep end with a beta mod but other than my minor issues I've been very happy with what seems a very stable beta...
I will indeed look up some custom boot animations but its a shame about the unlock/vibrate issue (my boss sits close to me so its not ideal for me when I'm trying to be discreet!)
With regards to wanting a keyboard button to 'skip to next track'; the main reason i wanted it was for when i have the phone plugged into an fm transmitter while driving....having a button to press (like the dpad on the nokia n97) means i can change songs easily without looking....unless i find a better solution, Real Player Beta has a rather large and clear lock screen which isn't so bad, I'm getting better at skipping songs using touch screen without looking (or crashing).
Thanks again, loving this phone, largely to do with all the advice I'm reading here.

Methode to modify Stock ICS ROM (4.0.4) to use AVRCP?

Hi guys,
First of all, this really is a great forum, but since I couldn't find any answer to my question, I am trying to get one here (-:
I own a Galaxy Note with stock ROM on ICS (4.0.4). I really like ICS and I am a pretty heavy user of the Samsung S-Memo apps. Already tried a couple of third parties apps such as Evernote Skitch etc., but for me the standard Samsung S-Memo apps are most convenient (espc. in combination with the pen). This is mostly why I do not really want to switch to a custom ROM, although the people working on the several ROMs are doing a great job.
So, here is my question:
Since I am using the Samsung Car holder for the Galaxy Note, I am looking for a way to control the Note via Bluetooth (mostly skip between songs etc.) since I am using this very fine device on my everyday commute to work as my navigation system and it would just be awesome also to use the Note as my USB-stick replacement since it is much more convenient to use the smartphone as my music player (btw: I am using the standard Samsung mp3-Player app and/or Google Play Music). I can connect the phone to my car and can control the volume. My car (it's a Hyundai) has the AVRCP feature and I was already able to connect my tablet (Acer) and my wife's Android phone (LG) and to control them (switch tracks, get ID3-information in car display etc.). Unfortunately, I cannot get control of all the nice features with my Galaxy Note: I can, as already written, only control the volume but cannot switch tracks, nor do I get any information streamed from the phone to the car display about the current song etc.
So, is there a way to modify whatever file on the phone (it is rooted) to get full control over my phone when connected via Bluetooth? I already read that custom ROMs do support this nice little feature but since I do not want to switch to any custom ROM (due to lack of support of the Samsung S-Memo apps) I would love to get any hint to solve this problem. I already found in the system folder of my phone the file ""AVRCP.kl" - maybe modifying this file might help? Anybody any idea? Or is there a way to copy and paste the AVRCP-configuration information from a custom ROM to the stock ROM (sorry for asking this kind of stupid question, but I am really kind of rookie in this field (-?
Thanks
This feature is present in stock ROM as well, maybe the combo is not compatible. You may want to try PowerAmp, you can use the volume key skip track option in PowerAmp. That way, when you double click the volume up you can skip track.

This was my same issue when I got my new Subaru Forester with the stock header (basic AVRCP feature works but not Artist/Album info). What you are looking for is AVRCP 1.3 (or 1.4 I don't remember). Stock rom (and any custom rom based on that) supports only AVRCP 1.0. Originally only CM9/CM10 rom support AVRCP 1.3, but I just recently found Miui V4 support this as well. And since Miui V4 is based on Samsung framework, S-Memo is included as well. U can search my posts for the Miui V4 thread.

[Q] Touchwiz vs carbon

I am getting my s4 in a few days and I think I'll flash carbon rom straight away (to avoid resetting at a later stage) but what good features do I lose from touchwiz? Is there anything in particular I could miss?
How are game performances? Do certain games have compatibility problems with non OEM roms?
I have loads of games on my s2, is it okay to transfer DATA backup (or apk?) with titanium backup. I read this affects battery life due to old files or is that just for background apps?
How is battery life verses touchwiz rom?
If I flash 4.3 carbon now will I more than likely have to reset to update to 4.4, I read this happened. 4.2-4.3
Thanks

You lose every single gimmicky Touchwiz feature. Chances are you won't be only flashing one rom and I recommend you don't flash just one rom anyways. You can really get a feel for a rom until you actually flash it, so just flash whatever you want to try out until you find the right rom.
Battery life CAN be better, depending on which rom + kernel + kernel settings you choose to use, so just try different things until you find the right stuff for your kind of phone usage.
Also, you will most definitely be updating Roms. And if you like to keep up to date you will be wiping/flashing pretty often. Final advice, just flash different Roms and READ a lot so you don't screw something up.

Okay thanks very much
What's your opinion on using titanium backup from:
An old phone
Through rom updates
And across different roms?
Any recommendations in roms to try?
-would you recommend carbon?
-I want stability/support with games
-good standby battery (does underclock/volting actually help? )
-data speeds aren't a problem as they aren't great anyway here but do all roms still have wifi tethering? I use wifi when it works (rural Ireland :/)
-stable gps
-likely to receive 4.4
I know it's a lot to ask for
I also like loads of customisation So I think stripped down/google edition are out of the choice
I actually prefer the TW Rom as you gain:
Better camera app that makes full use of the closed drivers which AOSP doesn't apart from the GPE editions, you gain burst mode and other modes on TW,
IR full support bit patchy on AOSP roms,
TW features, such as AirView which I find useful quickly hover over emails or sms messages for a preview on the native apps, also works on the native music player,
Multi Window, useful as sometimes I'll have YouTube running while browsing or replying back to an email or message or such,
Stability, it should be stable compared to AOSP roms, use my phone as a daily driver so stability is important,
Native social network syncing if you make use of social networks which ties in with your events and calendars,
Etc, you'd need to explore TW and see if you make use of any of its features, AOSP is goods, but with xposed framework TW is more than bearable. Only thing I dislike is the theme of stock TW but I alternate between domination theme and Naxos and it gets rid of the stock colours, speaking of colours TW has native screen display options to change the display colour,
Adapt sound is also useful which boosts headphone sounds tailored to your headphones and also boosts call sound.

:/ disappointed about the camera. Is the CM camera much worse in quality?

Yes, simply because they don't have access to the "closed" drivers implemented by Samsung.
I've done it in the past it shouldn't be a problem at all. Just update on your existing phone, you can then either upload it to the cloud or transfer the contents to your new phone and just restore everything. Should work without any hitches.
Xposed might fill my need of customisation
Have you come across anything like extsd2internalsd from s3 for s4?...Outside of directory bind?
GTA San andreas is a but big...

Yes I use foldermount. Allows to move things to the SD by creating symlinks. I've got my big games on the SD card by this method.
Xposed is excellent.

Okay ill try that thanks
Just one last question...
I understand that linking the Android folder is a bad idea because it breaks the path to data or obb.
So most games use obb, is it a good idea to just link the obb folder(only one mount) or should I do each game separately
I'm wondering which will work best with updating, I think obb?
I made a mess with directory bind before :0
Does folder mount allow mount at boot or is that just a bad idea(is this a constant process or does the phone just look for a file a get redirected)
Folder Mount is fine it boots at startup. I link the folder which has the data/obb file for each game. It works well and rarely has any issues with it. Free version is only limited to 3 mounts if more you'd have to pay for the full app but it's worth it and reviews are great.

Have you ever had problems updating apps? Or do you unmount, download and move over each time?

Kind of ROM you guys want

As you may have noticed there isn't a lot of ROMs for the nexus 7 2013. Tell me what kind of nougat ROMs you want.
I'll build the ROM that has the highest amount of votes.
P.S if anyone's wondering i was the former SAOSP maintainer.
Simple, clean and fast...
-fast
-complete debloated
-oms support or dark ui
-maybe privacy guard and advanced reboot
-permissive + enforce bootable and tweakable kernel with non standard govs and hotplugs
-no preroot
-Fast
-oms support
-optional pixel navigation bar w/animation setting
I know that you already build DU for another device. Would like to see DU on Flo, I think it pretty much has the features that most of us would want. Thanks.
Mike T
I'd be super happy with a Lineage build that has cherrypicks for our device. Lineage and CM officials were always nice but the reason I started coming here was the optimized versions for various devices. Having somebody that knows our device and what extras to add or remove based on our chip/gpu/flash was always nice. Sort of what DevSwift1 was doing at the start.
I'd like to see substratum support as well but i generally don't run themes.
Purenexus or a similar experience. I'd love to get pixel features with this device and manage to pass safetynet.
If this is still an option, I would love to see paranoid on the n7 2013. It's amazing on my n6p. They always looking for a maintainer.
Of course omni is great too.
I would like the latest Paranoid Android to come to FLO! But, as an alternative,
The Major Features I would like:
- Clean, Debloated & Beautiful (latest Paranoid Android Wallpapers and Stock UI look gorgeous)
- Very, Very Smooth & Snappy
- Full OMS Support
- Built-In Kernel with best Performance-Battery Balance (you can modify the latest ElementalX Kernel to suit the need)
- No Pre-Installed Bloatware (cLock, OmniStyle, OmniJaws, CM/LAOS/Omni Browser, CM/LAOS File Manager, Terminal, Stats, MusicFX/AudioFX, etc.)
- Not an overwhelming amount of unused features, just the basic & adequate amount of customization (unlike Resurrection Remix, having an unending amount of pretty useless customization, which is a waste)
- Lowest possible System Footprint (System Partition space is a bit low on our FLO/DEB)
- Comes Unrooted (passes SafetyNet but can allow for Magisk)
- Regular & Meaningful Updates (Weekly Builds are better than Nightlies)
Additional Featues, which if implemented, would be lovely:
- Basic level of Built-In Themes/Accents (like OxygenOS' Light/Dark Themes and Multiple Accent Colours)
- Good System UI Animations & Animated Elements (like OxygenOS' Power Menu, which has animated & colourful large buttons instead of a list and allow for seamless Power OFF and Advanced Restart while looking beautiful)
- Use as much of Google Apps in the build (Google Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Chrome & Email instead of other AOSP & Open Alternatives or make a zip to replace the built-in ones with the Google ones)
Please, make this happen! Upvote if you too wanted this ROM...
Thank you.
Thank you for developing a new ROM. It is great that there will be a new build for the old tablet. If you could include substratum, viper4android, or xposed framework with rootcloaking module (not that it can't be done individually), that would be awesome. Thank you again for bringing new life to Flo (aside from generic LineageOS builds).
Not to discourage you from doing your own thing, but if possible, I think it would be best if you build something with changes that could easily be merged into the latest nightlies of LineageOS. With the number of Nexus 7 2013 users dropping as the device ages I don't think it would be wise to splinter the community too much more than it already is
As similar to the stock one as possible. That means without root, with Google Apps, without non-stock features, and with stock kernel.
We got that, aosp rom, check it out
I want a nougat ROM that will work with VOIP/SIP apps like TalkaTone for the occasional phone call with the 2013 LTE device or through WiFi. It's been a month since I've tried but TalkaTone locks up with
every Nougat ROM I've tried with the 2013 LTE and Flo devices I have. Funny thing I picked up a used 2012 3G and it works like a charm with the Nougat ROM and the VOIP/SIP app TalkaTone. Kurt
Hi, a lean clean rom as described above - would love the addition of some of the features from Timurs rom v4 (on git hub) so can be used for a car install. There quite a community and we really need a decent updated rom. Features, power event manager including forced sleep on power off, USB host, USB DAC Support.
Don't forget the deb devices.
I just want SlimPIE.
Whats the status here, is there a new room coming any soon?
