[Q] 3rd party camera app shutter lag - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a SM-N900T with 4.4.2 stock rom installed.
I have two 3rd party camera apps that I'd like to use (Google Camera App & CameraZOOM FX). Both apps suffer from a 1 sec shutter lag, which makes them nearly unusable. The Samsung app doesn't have this issue.
I've wiped out my device completely, but the symptoms persist. I wonder what it causing this issue and if other had the same issue and how they resolved it.
Thanks.

Camera not working

hi, i use s4 and i use Cyanogenmod 12 but camera doesnt work. i dont know why. i install this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.billgbennett.camerafix&hl=tr
but this not solved my problem. help me please.
Go back to stock and see if it happens there. If it does, then you have a hardware issue.
this camera issue happend after i install cm 12.
Even I installed cm 12.1 in redmi note.. Camera is not working now

Camera issues are well documented with this device and Cyanogenmod. Solution: install a third party camera from the Play Store such as CameraMX. In general, the third party camera apps provide their own binaries which do not reference the ones included in Cyanogenmod, which is why they are more reliable than the stock camera app.

Facebook Messenger & Snapchat Clashing

Hello all. I'm not much of a developer myself but I know a decent amount about Android apps. I've been having trouble with Snapchat recently on my 6P. Lots of times, especially when on the actual camera page of Snapchat, the app is very unresponsive, it crashes, and it won't function or take pictures. I recently realized that this usually happens when Facebook Messenger is open and I try to use Snapchat at the same time. I suspect this is because Facebook Messenger keeps the camera open at all times and so does Snapchat (I believe that is well-known). I can't post the screenshot but the bottom menu bar of Messenger has a camera icon which instantly brings up an inline camera window for quickly taking and sending pictures. I can't confirm this because I'm not sure how to detect if an app has a lock on the camera but this is my theory. Has anyone else experienced this or possibly looked into it? Thanks guys.
I never recognized this because every time a app wants to use camera or sth like that i must allow it,
(but then its not a fast feature anymore ).
But im not really understand your problem, or is it necessary for you that both apps are running at the same time?
By the way, are you running stock or a rom? Rooted?

The problem is I often use both apps at the same time so this suspected camera lock problem slows my phone to a crawl and causes Snapchat to be unusable when I have FB Messenger running.

Stock camera opening lag

Am on stock 7.0 on my Moto g4 plus and whenever I try opening the camera, it takes a good 3 to 4 seconds to open by which time, the thing I want to capture is gone. I have also disabled the Camera Tuner app, but there is no difference in the lag. Any fixes for this issue please?
I am not rooted.

Open app settings, find camera app, try to clear cache of that app and force close it.
If that didn't helped, try to clear cache in recovery.
If that didn't help: factory reset

Does your camera app lag ?

My camera app lags so bad when i open it.. it freezes for 3 seconds before being able to use it, does anyone else experience this ?
I'm on B120 firmware
Yes I'm at the same firmware
I am on B170, it lags a bit at the begining, I think while loading the galery picture preview. That happens in the stock camera; if I use Open Camera it doesn't have that lag.
Same problem here (B162). Extremely annoying.
Just upgraded to B162 and the lag is still present
i did a deep reset because my phone start to be slow and laggy, now phone works good as before but camera app is laggy and freeze for 3/4 sec when i open it.
Im pretty sure this have to do with google photo app
Disabling google photo app , camera app works good again

Camera force closing

Hello , I have a small problem that I got it today , I was taking pictures and observed that they weren't saved..the the camera app force closed.. inreboot the phone ,cleared the camera app then tried again ..the only mode that seems to still work is live focus, when I try to change it force closing. I am on exynos with latest asd4 update
First I would try taking photos in Safe Mode. The reason I say this is because I'm wondering if there is another app that is claiming your camera. By starting it in Safe Mode you should be stopping any other apps that aren't directly opened from opening and thus preventing any other app from claiming your camera. If it works in SM I would then turn to permissions and defaults. Remove any apps from the camera permission and then with the app details, Settings>Applications, remove any apps that default to the camera app. Then as apps ask for permission to use your camera you'll have to evaluate whether the app is trustworthy or not, whether you want it or not.
I don't think is that , I cleared cache from recovery mode ,it worked a day and now is starting crushing again. If it was an app ..but I don't think it is,coz I didn't installed something new that needs camera permission this days
were you saving to external sd? what brand and model is it
