It is not possible on the retail devices. Double tap to wake requires a custom kernel and with a locked bootloader we can't get them.

Hi guys
Can anyone please tell me if double tap is still available to enter sleep mode ?
And if yes, how to set it up of course.
I found how to setup "wake up" but not the opposite.
I used it on my "old" Z5C and loved it...
Thanks.
Tap and hold on your home screen, go to settings and there you find it.
Only double tap to wake for x family as pressing the power button will unlock it with the fingerprint sensor.
Dunno why they remove the double tap to sleep
Maybe because of zoom function whith triple tap ?

I didn't trust you but i was wrong!
I had a look at Home settings and finally found it.
Double tap is still available to sleep AND to wake up.
How to enable double tap to wake?
No Double tap to wake, but there is single tap to wake, kinda.
Go to Display > Navigation Bar > Enable "Unlock with home button" and while locked, press on Home button area to unlock
Also if you double tap the home button it will wake to Lock. Screen
Is there any custom kernel I can install to do so?
Or use kernel auditor to do so?
I'm really interested in DT2W, I know D2TW work on the home button but I would like to have in on the whole screen like my old OPO and Motorola have it...

Here in this thread there's a couple apk's (NO ROOT) that will do what you asking
Double Tap To Wake Anywhere
For DT2W, you must enable the home button in your AOD settings. Another thing is that this disables the home button icon. It is a side effect of the tweak, so it's manually hidden entirely.
how to enable double tap to wake the screen ?
We have to wait for kernel supporting it

What are people's thoughts on double tap to wake or the ambient display option of single tap. You can't have both. Selecting one will disable the other.
What's the difference? I can't really tell.
I like the single tap.

Double tap goes to the lock screen (and immediately enabling Face Unlock for those who use it), and single tap enables the Ambient Display.
Double tap is like the power button, single tap is like picking up the phone.
Single tap cant light up the phone in a trusted place, you will still have to unlock it after you bring up the ambient. Not sure if that matters to most people but it's why I'm on double tap.
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there is an application or anything else that can allow tap (or double tap) to wake on a rooted Nexus10
Once I used Microsoft Launcher for a while, which had the ability to wake up by tapping the screen.

Thank you for your reply!
I can't seem to find an option to tap to unlock with the Microsoft Launcher
I can see the Tap To Lock option but not the other way around
Maybe you remember how you managed to do that?
Thanks again!
