Hi all, I'm having some trouble with the WiFi on my nexus 4. Web pages time out and the only time it will work is for a few seconds after turning the WiFi off and on again, but even that sometimes doesn't work. The internet is fine on my iPad and a family members Windows 7 laptop.
I've tried restarting the router, the phone and also forgetting the network and then joining again.
Any advice?
I have the same problem all of a sudden. Wifi connection stays up, but no data is actually transferred (unless I'm within 30 seconds of a phone or router reboot). Very frustrating.

Have you tried different radios to see if that makes a difference?

Hello everyone,
I checked the forums and I haven't seen anything like this, but I'm hope my situation isn't unique.
So I got the Nexus 4 and I love it. I have it linked to my wi-fi at home and the campus wi-fi. Every time I got to the college campus it links just fine. However, when I get to the home wi-fi, it sometimes takes a while for the phone to connect to the wi-fi, or say that the wi-fi is out of range.... even when standing next to the router.
I've tried rebooting the router, rebooting the phone. When it connects it's awesome. Sometimes I have to turn off the wi-fi on the N4 then back on again for it to connect.
Does anyone know what this may be? Anything would be great help.
P.S. - everything else works on my wi-fi just fine. A couple Rokus, a notebook, and etc.
Thank you

Nexus 4 has several flaky wifi issues. When I first got mine I could not get it to connect to my home router at all. Then it just started and has been working fine ever since. You may try changing your frequency settings on the router or using a different security protocol. In my case it seems once it got connected the situation was resolved. Good luck!

I tried changing the frequency, seeing that my neighbor was on the band as me. I'm not sure if that did the trick, but now my N4 seems to be picking up the signal a little more quickly.
Thank you for your suggestion.

Same issue here. Sometimes I'm connected to campus wifi, I drive all the way home and look at my phone, it's still trying to connect to campus wifi. I have to turn wifi off then back on for it to disconnect and auto connect to my home wifi.
Hi,
I've had my N4 since a couple of days and have encountered some issues when using the phone on Wifi. I use connectify as a virtual wifi router on my laptop. My phone keeps loosing the data stream from time to time even though the Wifi symbol remain active. I either have to disable/enable the Wifi or restart connectify to get the data stream to work. Any suggestions how to fix this ?
It could be android's fault. I have the same problem on my Galaxy 3. The phone even loses the signal if I'm sitting in front of the router. It's noticeable if the icon shows sending data and occasionally receiving data, but not at the same time.
I have two other PCs in the same room and they don't have this problem so the router is probably fine.
My nexus 4 has great WiFi receptions. I was using the iphone 5 last week and i had issues connecting yo my home WiFi, i think because of some WPA or wep security, the iPhone would connect 2 times out of 10 when i turn on WiFi. It always connects with my nexus 4.
Sent from my Mako Nexus quattro using Tapatalk 2!
hello;
so i have a google N7 32Gb i updated it to 4.2.2 and suddenly it has hard times to connect to the internet.
on my laptop (also connected by wifi), i have no problem
on my desktop (connected with a lan cable) , i don't have any problems either
sometimes my N7 works like a charm but other times it doesnt.
I've mentiond when i turn wifi off and back on then i have like 10 seconds of browsing time.
Some have had success by forgetting the connection and rebooting the router, then setting it up again. Wpa-psk seems to be much more reliable than wep. Static ip in advanced settings has helped some. Mine is a dhcp enabled 802.11n with wpa/wpa2-psk encryption and has been flawless.
I use psk 2 but that isn't the problem since I get connection but the problem is my nexus only stays connected for like 5 or 10 seconds.
If I turn the WiFi off and back on on my nexus then I get connected again for like 5 or 10 seconds.
Weird enough I don't have this problem on any of my other devices ....
Yeah. I just started having this problem today on my Nexus 7 with Cellular. The HSPA+ connection doesn't have issues; I can surf normally but when I'm using Wi-Fi, it's problematic.
I didn't have this issue until recently. Very strange.
Today i wasn't able to use anything what required internet on my nexus 7 even my wifi connection is fine, other devices connecting and have no problems, but my Nexus 7 shows also connection is good, and in full signal, but after trying to go to the internet, youtube, etc its showing only loading process over and over again, and just nothing happens. After maybe 5 mins of loading there appears message about internet problems
Please help.

It sounds like you have a good connection to your router, but the router is not providing internet access to the connection. You can try forgetting the connection, turn the N7 off/on and connect again. If that doesn't work, try resetting the router. This can be an issue with older routers or routers that should have firmware updated.
I got my nexus 4 off my brother as he recently got a new phone. I replaced the battery with a new one and all seemed to be going well.
Everything is stock, I have even tried flashing a few older stock builds LMY48M/T to try fix this. I currently have my sim card in an old phone while I am having issues with this nexus 4. I cannot remember if these issues also effected my phone sim network too. I cannot test this until the weekend. I could have damaged the antenna when replacing the battery.. but then when the wifi does eventually connect, it stays connected fine.
I am unsure if it is a problem with my Nexus 4, or my BT HH 4 router.
The issue with the wifi is my home connection says 'Saved' but it never connects instantly. However I could put my phone down and come back some time later and it would have managed to connect. As soon as I turn wifi off, and then on again it will just say 'Saved' and not connect. Once connected wifi works perfectly, excellent signal strength and link speed.
Things I have tried so far:
- 2.4ghz only, 5ghz only, and automatic
- Factory resets multiple times
- Forgetting the wifi network and re-adding password
- Going into recovery and wipe cache partition
- Restarting router
-
As for my BT HH 4, every other device in the house has no issue connecting, (shield k1 tablet, HTC desire S, TF101 tablet, laptops, chromecast all fine) it is just the Nexus 4. Maybe someone could reply who is also with BT and has a Home Hub 4. I cant see how it would be an issue with my router since everything else can connect fine. For this reason I would rather avoid changing settings.
Here are some things showing up when trying to connect my nexus 4 to the wifi from the Home Hub logs.
- Client associated - Client disassociated over and over
- IN: BLOCK [9] Packet invalid in connection (tcp reset attack is suspected:
- BLOCKED 3 more packets (because of Packet invalid in connection)
I have spent so much time searching around trying to fix this and got nowhere, so hopefully someone can help. Any posts I did manage to find were from years ago, I tried the suggestions anyway and still no luck.
