Back Button Problem

This might be a relatively small problem but it can be a little annoying. The back button (right side of the menu button) seems to be a little less responsive and 'smaller' than the options button (left side of the menu button).
By smaller I mean I need to click it exactly at the right spot and the button reponsive 'area' seems to be very small compare to option button which seems to take up most of the left side allocated to it.
I am not sure if this is intented or some kind of software/hardware fault?
I read about upgrading touchpad firmware through *#*#2663#*#* but there are reports than this could brake the buttons completly.
If anyone has any information it will be greatly appreciated.
P.S phone is not rooted and I bought it from vodafone Ireland.
there are a few threads on the hardware buttons not working correctly try the search.
I found one about the back button, not a lot of info though.

I have the same issue but also to another extent. Mine has an issue where sometimes it will double tap when I only press it once. This can get annoying. I do have a screen protector on and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Same thing happens to me ... but Its kinda rare(I am not using a screen protector). Does anyone know a solution? should updating firmware fix this?
I am thinking about asking for a replacement.
Replace it, same problem with my first unit, 20% of the presses didn't register

So the only way to fix it is to replace it?
I would imagine someone can make a mod to the touchkeys for like a certain millisecond delay between presses to fix the double tap. People have patched hardware keyboards for stuff similar to that.
As far as the non-registering presses, that might have something to do with delay too. A smart developer would have to try and look at it though I'm just guessing here.
I haven't noticed the non-registered presses in a while, not sure if it went away with a new kernel or if I just got used to how to press it to make it work. The double tap happens more often to me now lol.
Happened to me on my first unit, back button was only responding about 50-60% of the time, on the 2nd phone back button was extremely sensitive ( as sensitive as the SAMOLED screen which is a huge plus) 3rd phone seems "normal"
Galaxy S2 back button getting pressed twice on a single press.
When I am in 2nd/3rd level screen of an app, back and menu button lights go off(but screen is on). While pressing back button sometimes it's going back 2 levels with one, single press! As if I have pressed it twice. It doesn't happen always though.
Is there any fix for this?
PS: I am using a screen protector. Will remove it and see if that's the culprit or not.
u shud b thankful mate..my home butoon stopped responding at all
Hi,
Sorry to hear that.
But how did it happen? And how old is your phone? It must be still under warranty. Did you try taking it to the service center?
Back button problem sgs 2
I was also having this annoying problem.....searched over XDA....and found some tricky (fishy) codes for updating touch firmware.....which may end up braking those keys....so i stayed away from those tricks..
i googled again and found one method which finally worked for me
To get sgs2 into sleep use power button...nd for waking up use home (centre) button...this worked for me

Sorry for digging it up. I have the same issue, sometimes back button is acting like it was tapped twice. Is there any sofware solution instead of replace any parts?

[Q] Screen Not Responding to touch

Hi-was wandering if anyone can help. I brought a Samsung Galaxy Note a few days ago and was really pleased untill someone tried ringing me. When I tried to answer the call by pressing the Green Accept Call icon and sliding my finger (as per the instructions) I noticed that the screen didn't respond. The same thing happens when the phone is asleep and I press the home key to bring up the unlock screen to use the phone. I would have press the home screen twice before pressing my finger on the screen for the screen to respond.
The strange thing is I can do all the above if I use the stylus.
This leads me to suspect I may have a setting wrong.........can anyone help or has anyone heard of this?
thanks
I do not have a note but there are 2 places in the Galaxy phone where you can set screen sensitivity so I would guess the Note would be similar. One is in the secret code section and to be honest it has been over a year since I played with that, so you will have to look that up. The other was a normal setting menu I think it was in display settings but don't remember now since I have been on a custom rom forever. Google the Galaxy phone touchscreen sensitivity. I do remember this the settings I played with were too sensitive or to hard no in between. Not much help but it is what I recall.
Hi oka1
thanks for the advice. I rang up the retailer and described my issues with the mobile and they told me to send it back for a replacement as it is only 3 days old.
NP not much help I am going to close this thread since this is resolved

[Q] Galaxy S5 Home Button

Hi, all.
Not sure if this has been covered, trust me I've searched, but can I disable the wake on home button function? I've rooted, and tried various options that have been posted for earlier versions, but alas the S5 still wakes up when I press the home key.
Hate it, as I've pocket dialled the missus a few times already!
*edit* sorry, just realised I posted in wrong area
I need this as well. It's annoying as hell.
Nevermind. I saw the other thread located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741633

Weird "update window" malfunction on my brand new S7 edge (I have a video of it))

Weird "update window" malfunction on my brand new S7 edge (I have a video of it))
UPDATE happened again and I managed to record it here is the video
Appears to be a simple animation bug yes? notice how when it finally stops jumping the window design lets long vertically maybe its trying to animate from a short square box to a long box.

So earlier today I was getting this crazy thing with my brand new S7 edge now out of the box. The window that pops up when there is a new update " i had to update all the way from 2017 to 2019 each software OTA btw" anyways when that window popped up suddenly it started jumping up and down like crazy, pressed the home key and the home screen was just fine but that specific window would jump up and down. switched off the phone and put it back on and same thing, then I removed the case and the problem went away immediately and never came back. I was using the free case that came with it. Its a Verizon S7 Edge
Coincidence? or just a bad software? also the home button had a loud click like it got unstock on the left hand side. If I press the button on the left instead of the middle it has a sticky click. But phone is fine otherwise, its good if I press it in the middle
I hope nothing is wrong with my beautiful new phone.
Nb: This issue only happens at this particular window pop up everything else in the phone works great

I wouldn't worry too much about it, you can go into settings and turn off updates so it doesn't show up any more. But a factory reset may clear that up as well. As far as a loud clicking, it shouldn't make any noise when pressed. That being said, I had an S5 that clicked but never had an issue, so ymmv.
