Significant general lag after installing Xposed Framework - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Rooted S5 (SM-G900F) with CF-Auto Root without problems, disabled KNOX, everything worked fine. After installing the Xposed Framework (latest) the phone get super laggy. NOTE: No Xposed Modules were activated. No SHealt force closes or anything like that some users were reporting. Only clearly visible general lag everywhere. Tried uninstalling the Framework, everything went back to normal. After reinstall, the lag appeared again.(tried 3 times, 100% it's from the framework)
Baseband: G900FXXU1ANCE
The lag has no trace in LogCat so it's irrelevant.
I hope @rovo89 already knows about the problem, but for now any solution, fix or idea?

I don't have a fix, but I have the same problem. I can live without it though, so I just uninstalled it for now.

it's very strange, because i experience no issue at all with both xposed framework and s health.
i'm using sm-g900i and here is my set-up:
- taiwanese stockrom: my original stock rom is au vodafone firmware and it's not up-to-date so i flash this one in order to have camera at lockscreen and modify dock icons which is impossible in "australia only" stock
- i flash this rom using mobile odin pro <~~ not sure if this helps!
- i flash philz touch recovery using mobile odin pro
- install xposed framework, reboot
- update everything through goole play to make sure all system apps are up-to-date
- i haven't removed/disabled any bloat ware, just hide them (greenify donation version helps a lot here)
- no laggy performance at all
hope it helps you all!

Xposed doesnt work correctly with rooted device only by using a custom kernel. You have to install also a custom rom.
OR ...
you have to change the build.prop, if you just only use a custom kernel with Xposed Framework.
- Take Root Explorer for example and open build.prop (to find in System)
- First uninstall Xposed Framwork again ...
- then go to build.prop to the line ( “ro.securestorage.support=true” )
- change true to false ( “ro.securestorage.support=false” )
- now reinstall Xposed Framework
- restart your device and both working well without any lags.
By rooting the phone the secure mode doesnt work anymore, so you have to change that in build.prop.
You dont need to do so with custom kernel and custom rom running, but with custom kernel and stock rom, as I told at the beginning.
cheers

Doesn't Work, right now as it stands is if you install Xposed Installer, the phone lags an you can't use S Health anyway, but you can do the build prop edit and get rid of the lag from Xposed and still not be able to use S Health as it will now FC no matter what lol, so if we want to use Xposed and liek S Health, we can't have both.

clear Health Service data as well, it should fix your prob

Fixed it!

Hello, I have done so as it stands but then wanted my phone not boot .. what went wrong?

Cokenet you are the best. Thank you.

I'm on stock ROM and kernel and had amazing lag while playing GTA San Andreas on low-medium settings. Uninstalled framework ,changed ro.securestorage=false, installed DVFS Disabler module, after that framework again and rebooted. I can run GTA SA on everything MAX with almost no lag at all. Thanks for this

I have stock rom, custom kernel. I did follow your instruction but I still get lags, my phone still freeze from time to time, like it was before chanting build.prop file. I'm using Samsung Galaxy note 4 and android 6.0.1

I Wana install this xposed but obviously it's causing too much difficulties. Gravity box is needed. I it makes rooting delicious. Like me I tried many times installing xposed from magisk manager but ended up with BOOTLOOP.

The build.prop value referred to (ro.secure) is in your kernel, so I wouldn't change it on most devices, or learn to love your boot-logo. The "secure storage" may be variable, but every device I've ever had said "ro.secure", which is usually not changeable on stock ROMs. Read your init.rc file to check. I have to use init.d scripts to get insecure, useful for adb as root and Xposed without all the lag.

wanam xposed definitive installation guide

As somebody reported thet they are experiencing lags after installing wanam xposed and other guys are doing just fine with the module working on their phone, would anybody be willing to post the guide how exactly wanam should be installed without bad cosequences for the phone and all apps to work flawlessly.
Thanks!
I'm also having this issue. It works great with Note 2, but with Note 4, it locks the whole phone. Super SU stops responding or responds with a huge delay. Only uninstalling Wanam module didn't fix the issue, I had to fully reinstall the xposed framework to bring my phone back to a normal behaviour. So far Note 2 is still my official phone until I sort out everything I need to make Note 4 works comfortably for me, so, there is still no SIM installed. Could this be the point? My phone is a 910C with NJ4 firmware. I appreciate any help.

A user having a similar experience as yourself posted the following on another thread (I haven't tried it, since I'm still waiting for my N910C )
After installing xposed I had a serious lag problem, including apps installation lags and other general slowdown, which I resolved.
For anyone having this lag, xposed framework seems to be incompatible with S-Health and Health Services.
To resolve, do this:
Uninstall Xposed and Reboot
Wipe data of S-Health and Health Services
Freeze S-Health and Health Services (using Titanium Backup or similar)
Install xposed and reboot
Install the xposed addon XSecureStorage, enable it and Reboot
Unfreeze S-Health and Services (using Titanium Backup or similar)

I always had issues with these "all in one" apps. Some features do actually works well in some ROMs and not in others. Gravity mod has also some nice features, most a lot similar with Wanam but in one some features works and not in the other app, so a believe both are more or less complimentary. Just a thought.

This is the S5 fix...
XSecureStorage
"One of the issues i noticed on GalaxyS5 was the SHealth incompatibility with Xposed (described on this thread), somehow if you are using Xposed framework, Secure storage will fails to process and save data, which leads to Sensor service hangs
This module bypass the secure storage checks on SHealth and Private mode services, and will let you load the SHealth App with no hangs and activate Private mode on Rooted Samsung devices running Xposed framework.
I did just the basic tests for SHealth because i don’t use this App anyway, it’s not easy to play football with a device on my hands/pocket ."
http://wanamlite.com/xsecurestorage/
Yes, Wanam has an option to disable XSecureStorage but (at least when I tried it) it didn't work. After installing XSecureStorage it resolved the weird lag I was having installing apps and such, and S Health works now too.
I think there was also another post that I saw with a small file that I downloaded and installed since I don't think S Health worked at first install of XSecureStorage, but after installing that and clearing data for S Health it worked.
This worked perfectly for me on my Note 4.
http://gs5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/f...hes-when-using-xposed-your-galaxy-s5-0157344/ It might have been all in my head, and maybe it even does the same thing, but following this guide seemed to make things smoother than using the option in Wanam Xposed.

SMS taking forever to send but MMS sends right away and Play Store downloads hang? :s

So I rooted my Note 4 SM-N910W8 (Rogers) 4.4.4 and everything works fine however, my SMS and Play Store seem to not be working now. I have no issues sending MMS but when I send SMS it takes a very long time to send. Also my Play Store is not downloading apps, they start and then hang on different percentages, they also will download but take forever as well. I'm at a loss and really hope someone can help.
Thank You so much in advance.

hi,
i had something similar with Play store, also hanging and downloading only certain percentage etc.. etc(sms, i don'f know/did not noticed... as i seldom send sms)
I cleared Play cache, then Play data, but it did not help!
even cleared Dalvick cache, no luck.!
i suspected that the culprit could be have been Xposed, as i just had uninstalled it and then started to have problems (i must add that whilst using Xposed and other modules.. wanam, etc Play store was ok.)
i have N910F Snapdragon, rooted, stock Rom.
Got fed up, and just re flashed latest Rom.. ..ANK4 , rooted again and every thing (PLAY STORE issue fixed)
bottom line, it can(? ) be fixed!
good luck

YOU ROCK! I think that is it cause you are correct, I had installed that earlier today so I can use some tweaks for Swype. BRILLIANT. So I need to flash NJ3 you're saying? Also do I have to stay away from Xposed now?
hi,
No, i am not directly saying you must flash, anything.!
I compared your issue with mine, and suggested that it could be a positive way to fix issue.?
I did not try a factory reset /hard reset at first as
i was so fed up trying "this and that " to fix, that i flashed my
version N910F Rom and rooted again. Problem fixed for me.
Your options could be to factory reset your device and see if it help ? otherwise you can try re flashing your correct device Rom remember you have a N910W8 (Rogers) so you must be careful that you have the correct Rom for your device, You will have to unroot first and then flash again (very easy/straight forward.) After flashing your rom you can root again.
I have to add that Xposed does not "play" nicely and when at first installing it can cause bad lag at times.. and break the S HEALTH app etc etc. However, there is a fix for this issues. So when uninstalling Xposed i believe it can also " break " something again?I just wanted to say to you there is a possible fix for your Play store issue depending how much effort you want to put into fixing issues?
good luck

I'm pretty much at wits end myself however I will take your advice on the factory reset first I guess. N910W8VLU1ANJ3_N910W8OYA1ANJ3 is my stock fw. I did uninstall Xposed as well. Oops.

hi ,
if you read my post #2 ,you would noted that i had Xposed installed and all working well ,no problems ( yes i had fixes ..Wanam module with "bypass secure storage " enabled) but you would have noted i had already " uninstalled" Xposed and thus i suspected it had broke my Google play app ( only downloads apps to certain percentage and sticks forever, etc etc .)
So the point i made was that Xposed does not always "play " well with certain apps ( S HEALTH ,Private mode ,very noticeable lag etc ,and yes i fixed all this ,with the Wanam module )
I still use Xposed on my other devices Note 8.0 tab and Note 2 ,so i know Xposed well , but It can also "break " apps afterwards .Also i noticed ( according to what i read in his Xposed thread ) that the dev of Xposed " rovo89 " is not supporting any further developments( ?) on Xposed framework due to change from Dalvik to ART etc (Android 5.xxxx Lollipop) He "might" ... ? , concentrate in getting Xposed to work on Art ? as Xposed at moment , does not work on Art .?
So (to me) is it really worthwile keeping Xposed Framework on my device ? No ,so i uninstalled it( ...and it also broke "some " of my apps ...! in the process .)
Bottom line ,
As Xposed Framework can " break " apps on installing ,it can also break apps on uninstalling it !!!!
Good luck

I don't think the bypass secure storage option in Wanam is working on the Note 4 (yet). Most things work but a few still don't. XSecureStorage is a separate module. Once I installed it and rebooted I had no more hanging issues.
And yes Xposed doesn't work on ART yet either until rovo updates it. It's finding the time to do so that is difficult.

hi ,
Yes ,the Wanam module i had installed on my Note 4 , (with secure storage enabled in module) it does work .!
I had Xposed/Wanam installed on my Note 4 ,for over a month plus .No problem !
(Also i do know how to install Xposed or any other module, reboot etc )
Further , Wanam actually fixed my Shealth ,Private mode and lag i had from Xposed framework .
I think you are missing my point in my post above and that is just after.......i uninstalled Xposed ,I had Play store issues
As i had same /similar "Play store issue" that OP @ ShizNick experienced not "while or whilst" i had Xposed installed i gave OP my thoughts, that it could be Xposed .
I see that OP had sorted his Play store issue out successfully , so my "suggestion/advice " must have been positive ?
You seem to a miss point that Xposed Framework seems to have different issues/problems on Note 4 members devices ( as far as i followed post in forums ) Not all members experience same issues with Xposed ,some have no issues , some have terrible issues !
I have Xposed still installed on my Note 3 ,Note 2 ,Note 8.0 and my Htc One X .
So i do know the Xposed Frameworks, various issues on "various /same " devices
I have no problems in general with Xposed(,but as stated a few times in my post above ,)it does not "play nice" with Note 4 when installed or when you uninstalled it ,it can break another app ( yes, i also mentions there was "fixes "in my above post .)I had the Wanam module( with Secure storage ) installed on my Note 4 before Wanam released his "stand alone" module (afterwards) and was not going to uninstall and install similar module , anyway !
When i last read @ rovo89 thread in Xposed( a while back ) you could "follow" that he was not ( ? ) going to update Xposed for Dalvik ?
Bottom line is, that if he manages to "enable" Xposed to work on Art /lollipop ,i would install it again.
Good luck and thanks for your input.
"
thanks sooo much, was starting to pull my hair out with this problem!

[Q] Apps stuck on installing, help please

After rooting the Note 4 for the first time with the stock rom, all apps I try to install get stuck on the "Installing..." screen, even in the Play Store they do the same for upgrading apps. That happened shortly after I installed the Xposed Installer ( being that the last app I could install on my Note ).
As I am writting this, one of the apps jsut installed but it lasted 2 hours, I know it isnt any connection issues because Im triying to install apks already downloaded. Please some help, I'm new to Samsung phones coming from a Nexus 5 and I find this a little bit messy.
Thanks for your time.
Personally for me xposed caused more problems than it solved. That would be my first port of call.
It may be worth checking your security settings, they may also be blocking your installs.

This happened to me too in other samsung device. Try this:
- Go to SuperSU - Apps - Forget Wanam Xposed.
- Go to Wanam Xposed app and give new root perms and update it if you need it.
- Reboot your device and try to install new apps. I think you won't have more problems. Good luck :highfive:

hi ,
i agree with JagDave that it seems that it could only be Xposed Framework .I stated in other threads ,that Xposed does not "play nicely " with Note 4. It will either break "something/app " when installing/installed or uninstalling ..?.
I had Xposed break apps eg... S health ..Private mode ,lag or as what you described above ..not installing apps /stuck on installing.
I had to use " work arounds /fixes /patches" ....Wanam ( Secure storage ) and then my device( N910f Note 4,)was working 100%. ,but to me it is not worth it and I uninstalled it( then it broke my Google Play app on uninstalling ! ) ,
Further i noted the dev ( rovio89 of Xposed stated in "earlier " post )that he was not going to" update" Xposed re the Dalvik /Art ( Lollipop ) issue .?
If you look at at his last stable update for Xposed framework it has been "months " back . (No wonder it "breaks " apps ...it was last updated ,before Note 4 was released( and thus not " optimized" for Note4 ? )
I have Xposed installed on all my other " old " devices and working 100% and i am happy with Xposed Framework , but Note 4 ..? (no ) and i can understand the dev rovo89 " issue" if it is worthwile further developing re Dalvik ?
I would rather wait for the dev ,to enabled Xposed to work with Art and re install it then .?
Bottom line.... its your decision to install or use workaround/fixes !
good luck
Thanks everyone, somehow after a few reboots and some time the problem fixed itself, I also managed to get S-Health to work properly but the Private Mode won't work since the Knox counter is triggered, something related to being rooted, as of yet there is no proper fix for it.

Snapchat should work just fine on a rooted phone. I see no reason why root would block Snapchat from working? Maybe there's an other cause for your Snapchat not to work?

Ihave this problème since 3 month
I disconnect from and unable to connect. I then tried it on one of my son and since he too can reconnect. his phone is of a different brand and rooter too. I do not advise you to try if you are root
But if you try, please feedback
Thx
Its not root actually, its xposed. You cant sign in to snapchat with xposed installed on your phone it says theres a temporary problem signing in or something like that... I have custom rooted rom installed and there was an option to choose xposed in aroma installer. If I re run installer and chose no xposed, then I can sign in to snapchat. Also if you dont sign out often, you can uninstal xposed, sign on and reinstal xposed back, as long as you dont sign out it will work normally and theres no problems, but if you sign out you'll need to uninstal xposed again in order to sign in... I've been running it this way for quite some time.
ok thx
i w'ill try ....
i use audax rom , and in this rom i can't uninstall xposed , only desactived it . but after restart phone it's the same thing , can't connect.

Yes I know, disabling the xposed doens't work, I've also tried that before uninstalling it. Snapchat probably checks if there are any traces of xposed on the phone, so you need to remove it completely in order to sign in. It's also completely expected move as there are plenty of xposed modules that can modify snapchat so the core idea of the app dies as you can save photos without notification etc.
Would it be possible to configure rootcloak to ride xposed?

Tried that, it doesn't work as root is not the problem, xposed is. I am rooted, and it works.

I know, luckily I can just dirty flash the same ROM and choose not to instal xposed in aroma. I'm running KOS ROM V2 Debloated. As it goes for you I believe you'll have to flash a different ROM or just live without snapchat, unless there's a better option now, but I tried snapperfs and some other xposed modules that were supposed to hide root from snapchat, but I guess they updated what snapchat detects from root access, to xposed.
if i understand , if i want to use snapchat , i can't use xposed .
but i use différents module like torch exposed , wanam etc ....and i would like to continue to use them
another thing , we can find différents module for snapchat on xposed , if we find them we can use snap no ? i'm
but thx for your help ....

no, you can use xposed, but you need to install it AFTER you sign in to snapchat as it only prevents you to sign in if xposed is installed. What that means is that you must not sign out of snapchat once you install xposed as it won't work again. So if you do sign out somehow, you'd need to uninstall xposed (as I said I could do that with my ROM easily), sign in and again install xposed. This method works 100% as I am using snapchat AND xposed like that.
What I was saying about the modules that alowed to use it, is that snapchat, in the past supposedly only checked if the phone was rooted, as there are tutorials on the internet on how to hide root for signing in to snapchat, which now don't work anymore, as they obviously changed it to just check if xposed is installed because root itself wasn't really dangerous for them and a lot of people have their phones rooted and were complaining.
Right now, as far as I know, there's no other way than uninstalling xposed.

[PROTIP] How to fix bootloop caused by xposed modules and get them to run!

Hey there,
I've had a problem with my fire TV gen 2 with FireOS 5.0.5 (rooted) that sometimes this b*tch would not boot with xposed modules enabled that I'd really love to have.
Now I finally seem to found an answer to my problems. One Xposed module that has been causing alot of problems but which I REALLY wanted to use was the "Holo Themer" modules which allows you to change the UI of apps. This one is really cool because it allows you to open Supersu, Xposed App Settings etc - you just have to set the ui to "Material Dark". Otherwise that apps dont open or FC.
What I found out is that they seem to be running fine for one boot, JUST AFTER ENABLING. I'm still investigating on how to make them permanently run even after reboot but now I wanna explain how to get em running at all.
So heres what you should try:
1. Download and install all the xposed modules you wanna use and also activate them.
2. Reboot by just unplugging and replugging the power cord.
3. If the firetv still boots, youre fin.
3b. If you end up in a bootloops:
4. Reboot to recovery and delete the following file: (through file explorer in TWRP): /data/data/de.rovo.xposedinstaller/conf/modules.list (dunno if i spelled the name of the app correctly but you get the point if youre a pro or advanced user)..
5. Reboot the device
6. Go to xposed installer after full bootup and re-enable all the modules. (because u deleted the modules.list the firetv did boot without ANY xposed modules activated).
7. Unplug and replug power. This time the b*tch should boot up with all the modules enabled. Mysteriously though, when you reboot again, you might end up in a bootloop again.. So this might just work for one boot....
---
Incase you still end up in a bootloop:
Delete the dalvik cache in the recovery, delete the modules.list as explained above. Reboot.
This usually means that your xposed module (version) is not running well with the firetv. So try to find out which module is causing the problem and try another version.
For the Holo Themer for example I found out that the latest version just isnt workijg for the firetv.. even with that "lil trick" .. so downgrade to 3.0 (in that case) and then rinse repeat.
-----
Enjoy
P.S. This is meant for pros or advanced users who really want to use certain xposed modules that seem to cause bootloops, not gonna answer any questions, esp. if theyre noob questions.. if you dont get what im sayin here just dont bother pls and keep on learning.
