Every time I receive a text message, my phone plays a random mp3 from my sd, the worst part is that it loops and the only way to fix it is to reboot. This happened to me on my note 2 running a stock rooted rom but I assumed it was rom related and flashed a different rom. It is driving me nuts. Any solutions would be great.

Please disregard, mods can even delete. The sales person at vzw let my phone restore from Google and a rogue app was hijacking my phone.

Idk what's going on but when I reboot my phone it doesnt say" droid" in the robotic voice anymore and I've looked in the sound settings and couldn't find any way to turn it on or off, anyone have a clue or this issue?
Btw im running 2.2 ota stock non root or deodx

I'm pretty sure it was removed in the update. When the eye loads it just does a quick vibration. Try talking to the guy that did the custom boot animation with sound. He should be able to help you.
Ya it's the update I just confrimed it with a sales reolp at the big red store

That wasn't part of the boot. It was after your phone boots up and it "Prepares your SD card". Its still there for me on rubiX Focused 1.0

Anyone else have an issue with someone calling or testing you and you don't receive it? I get the voicemail (no notification I have a new one ) and then all the texts come after too. This happens consistently to me. At first I thought it was the Rom so I reset to factory but it still happens.

With google voice or regular carrier voicemail?

Carrier voicemail and texts. I will get home from work and my wife will ask if I got her text. I then check my carrier voicemail to receive the text from a few hours ago.

Texts work perfectly fine for me to my girlfriend & her backflip no lag ever voicemail I don’t know about because we use google voice. I would suggest using voice great replacement for visual voicemail coming from iphone
Edit: what rom?

Currently using the stock Rom as I may be sending my phone in since I am also having issues with not connecting to the towers after I lose signal in my office sometimes.

I would suggest rooting & flashing cyanogenmod on it been extremely reliable for me & just use google voice for visual voicemail

The issue actually started back in Sept/Oct. when I had the cm6 Rom on. I may give it another go though to see what happens

Well have CM61 on my phone which has helped some but the issue still persists. Contacted the local ATT and the said there are 2 towers very close to each other in the area I have this issue in. So they are saying the phone keeps bouncing between them causing the issue.

I was wondering if it was safe to delete the stock message app. I do not have text message plan and I use Google voice exclusively. If freezing that app won't cause me to reflash my rom would it be possible to still be charged for SMS if someone sends me a message, even if the app is frozen?

Good question! I think regardless whether the app is there or not and someone sends u a message as long as its sent you will get charged!

Would deleting the app cause my rom a never ending force close?
Sent from my Glacier using xda app-developers app
Hmm, it's possible that if your phone never recieves it, due to not having the app functioning, that you will not be charged. I would ask you service provider to be sure, though.
Many, many moons ago I froze messaging.apk on stock froyo and the ROM worked fine. I would make a Nandroid and then freeze the app. If you have no issue, you will be fine with deleting the apk.
I'm using GO SMS and I've got a problem where I get multiple threads opening for the same person. Basically every time they send me a new message it starts a new thread. So by the time I'm done having a short conversation I have about 20 new threads from the same person. Were both using GO and I'm not sure if there's a problem on his side of things or mine. Has anyone had this problem or can help me out?
I also use go sms and haven't had a problem. Have you tried uninstall/ reinstall?

are you on a custom rom? I had that issue on my epic 4g on cyanogenmod.
I'm on the stock rom. Haven't even rooted yet. Although I am using handcent instead of the stock messaging app.

Set handcent as default for MMS. Should fix it. If not then do for both SMS & MMS

This is interesting
I had this happen after the 4.1.2 update on my S3. After every boot I would get one.
I tried the Handcent thing... No good. Ran across a thread somewhere about it being a "silent" text from Sprint notifying the phone about Voicemail. I had the Voicemail app frozen with TiBU. Defrosted it and Never had the issue again.
Don't know if this will help but maybe it will put someone on the track to figuring it out.

It's handcent. My wife started getting those several times a day on her S3. I blocked the number on the Sprint website, blacklisted it on the phone and they still came up. Called Sprint support and they said it was Handcent. Uninstalled it and it all stopped. Not really needed on the Samsungs anyway.

It is not handcent. It might happen on Handcent, but it also happens on the stock messaging app as well. I've gotten it on AOSP and TW roms with the stock messaging app.
I have it happening to me now on my S4 and I would get it on my S3 as well, whenever I got one of those messages I would be getting a voice mail as well. I just had the texts from that number blocked and I never got it again.

I get those. I'm rooted on a custom ROM and they inform me I have a new voicemail
