[Q] Best Camera app for the S5 - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What do you guys think is the best camera app for the s5 and its camera?

Stock is OK, but also consider Camera Zoom FX and Google's own camera app.
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I use stock camera for person and outdoor, use camera zoom FX for objects and indoor.

Abou Stock S5 Camera
Hi, folks.
Does someone know if the stock S5 camera have zoom features??? :silly:
Thanks at all

Snap Camera HDR works even with buggy AOSP Roms (I checked on S4 and S5 versions)....
I went for the Pro version quite long time ago.
Now I use stock, because I stick to the ROMs cooked on the original firmware, missing stable Cyanogemod a little bit...

Yes it has. Just use 2 finger zoom on display. And you can configure the volumekey to zoom if you like since ANG2.

Next to the stock camera app i also use Camera FX Zoom and HD Camera Ultra.

Is it possible to use stock galaxy s4 camera on custom roms?

Hi,
I want to use this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306650
I allready know that gestures, eye scrolling etc. won't work without the original kernel.
But is it possible to use the stock galaxy s4 camera and the functions of it on this miui port?
Would be awesome.
Thx in advance!
I don't think so and tbis is my biggest problem too!!!! theres is no camera app that is as good as this one but i want to change to cyanogenmod or aokp.....
for example i can take 9.6mp 16:9 pics with the stock cam and with camera jb+ i only get 6 mp when i want to use 16:9 ratio....... not the mention the camera modes of the stock one.....

not gonna happen
As noted, you'll never get the Samsung camera app on CM12. However, the One +1 camera app might be a good alternative. It has everything found in the stock app, plus a few features that aren't.
EDIT: Failed to realize that the One +1 camera app was included in CM12 as Cyanogen Camera. Still a good option compared to the stock Samsung camera, and a major reason I switched to Danvdh's GPE ROM.
HTC M8 Lollipop Camera works
Search on google for Jishnu's Camera Mod HTC One M8 camera Port
Flash V1.1 then V1.2 Resolution Patch.zip
It works nice on my S4 with Kangapop should work on CM12
It also includes the nice HTC m8 gallery
I use it because it shoot pictures better than the motorola and one plus one camera.
What Works?
Photo booth
Rear Camera(Selfie) and video(Full HD)
Selfie Camera and video(HD)
Pan 360
What doesn't work? (some hardware limitations)
Zoe Camera
Split capture
Edit photos on HTC Gallery
Note:
To fix auto-focus just take a picture.

A better camera app?

First day with this fabulous device. Came from Note 7. The only disappointment so far is the camera, especially low light. I'm wondering if it's just the app itself. I downloaded LIGHTROOM and I'm getting better results but has anyone found another camera app that works well?

"A Better Camera" seems to take better quality pictures in low light (just testing it at my desk). It crashes on setting image size in the setting though (but not from the in app menu).
However, it's video function doesn't let you set resolution/rate and such like the built in app.

People seem to like "snap camera" app the most especially on low light. Maybe you can try this.

Camera FV-5
The Best Camera app I use is "Camera FV-5" its only a Camera not a video recorder though, its a professional camera soo yeah
Camera Zoom fx premium
None of these seemed to make a difference for me. Mist be the hardware.

1) As a general point, low light photography is the weak point of the Axon 7 camera
2) You can try open camera. I have had good results. It is a free open source app
One thing i found just by mistake, was if you tap on where you would like to focus in low light conditions it will turn on nightmode and give slightly better picture.
Anyone able to extract the stock camera app?
Can u use Google camera ?
Sent from my Pixel using XDA-Developers mobile app
I was not impressed with Snap camera's low light performance. I actually think it's worse than the stock camera app.
Cinema fv-5 for better video
And the app called: 'a better camera' for better pictures

Yes, Google camera works great... Not any improvement in quality, but works great. Not like it did on the Nexus 6P (not able to swipe to change from camera to video, have to use swipe-out menu).
If you have the ZTE camera open, then try to open Google camera (or any other), you'll get an error the camera is in use by another app.

You should be able to extract it from any of the stock system partition images -- either direct from ZTE's files or from DrakenFX TWRP backup versions.

The default camera app already has the best options for low light. It's just a trade-off between shutter speed and grain. You can use SUPER NIGHT mode or ISO100 mode in manual to get less grain but you have to hold still to avoid blur. SUPER NIGHT seems to make a composite to reduce blur though.
Any sample shots using super night mode?
Zte is not using the CameraApi2 so you won't get the same quality with a 3rd party camera app.
I've personally found that HDR works quite well in low light, sometimes making the shot look brighter than real life. The only annoying part is keeping the phone steady to avoid blur.
Freedcam
Color OS camera
I feel are the best
Using MI4W with CM13

Best Camera App for Mi A1?

As It is well known that Google Camera app works only Root, is there any other better camera app without Root? What about Samsung Note 8's camera app? I've tried the one plus 5 app. The results have very minor difference.

Except Google Ported Camera all other camera apps are very bad for A1. A1 stock camera is really nice in Day light. U only have issue in low light with A1 camera.
And Samsung Camera won't work in A1 ...
Just trying out open camera, seems a bit better than stock. Next I'm trying is bacon camera

Open camera has support only for single primary camera
Try Snapdragon camera. The HDR is way better on sd camera than the stock camera. Remember to set the image quality to High

google camera is now ported for A1. you can use it without rooting your device
my only answer:
for daylight with plenty of light - the stock camera app
for lowlight and HDR mode - GCam HDR+ (no other camera app can replicate how this one does)
:cyclops: I already tried those "other" camera app and paid the premium version.. still GCam wins

Which camera app do you use on your custom ROM?

Hello Everyone,
Which camera app do you all use? Gcam should be the answer for most people, but I am facing many issues with it. Like front camera crashing, images not saving? What version are you using? If you could share ill be thankful.
Even if not gcam, I need a camera app I can trust and that is stable.
Thank you
I used to always use snap camera but haven't used it on this phone because stock one is good enough and I don't use the selfie camera cause it's dumb
