Those are the stock libs from a different device, copied from the thread that these originally came from here. Flashing them will replace the dalvik vm and some bionic libraries with the wrong, non stock versions.
I wouldn't advise that.

Kingvortex is right those files are from a different device and will not revert the stock files for xperia Z. You can grab the files from xperia Z system/lib folder and create a revert file.

Stock xperia z files attached.

Tested on odexed stock firmware.
I don't know is it placebo effect or not, or maybe because of clean dalvik-cache but i fell less lag.

Just, odexed roms can not use these files for system applications.
System applications allready odexed in system partititon.

Hmm. Are you saying the dalvik vm won't run for system apps when using these zips? That would mean that no system apps would run at all, surely.
In any case, this is the only place that I've seen that says you need to be deodexed. The original thread says all stock roms and stock roms are always odexed.

i guess these files will (if) mostly impove your user apps. If you are in odexed rom.
Because of system apps allready extracted dex files.
After clear dalvik-cache, phone will generate only user apps dex files. System files will be ignored because of existwns of odex file.
Maybe, proccesing dex and odex file might improve tottaly.
Like i said, i guess...

These zips replace the dalvik vm binary and libs relating to the dalvik vm and bionic and should therefore affect all running apps, whether user or system.
As I understand it, there is no need to be deodexed to replace these files. Deodexing is for ease of modifying apks only. If someone has a link to correct me on this, then please do so, as I'm only an interested amateur and I'm always willing to learn something new.

Do u not read more? Its Google's 4.4.2 bugs.. Sony's specific bugs are like 10-15% maximum.. And these blobs aren't by some user, its officially given by Qualcomm and its just shared by some user.. And most importantly some user informed me when he compared checksums, our KK has already these blobs related to dalvik.. And problem is on all KK devices(4.4.2).. I highly suggest all users who just upgraded to KK, let the ROM settle.. And give it a few reboots, maybe along with a cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe..

Get your facts straight boy, if it is from qualcomm it has nothing to do with the OS itself and it is a driver issue, which the goddamn Sony should have made sure that they are bug free. Giving reboots to solve problems!!! what a nice suggestion!! do all phones come with reboot instructions from factory??? That made my night, thanks.

[GUIDE] How to keep the old CM10 partition layout & stay up to date with changes

OK, so the debate over partitioning in CM10 is all but done and I'm not going to discuss it here.
I've been building CM10 for my own use with the partition layout change reverted and this works nicely for me. But what about people who can't compile the source for themselves (for whatever reason)?
That's why I'm posting this brief guide to what I'm calling "fudgedating" (its like updating). Using the method below you will be able to stay up to date with all the CM10 nightly updates (except kernel changes) without compiling or doing anything difficult.
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BEFORE FLASHING
I'VE TESTED THIS WITH CM10 NIGHTLIES FROM 23082012 & 22082012 BUT IF IT FAILS TO WORK FOR YOU THEN I'M SORRY, THAT'S LIFE. RESTORE YOUR BACKUP & MOVE ON
What you'll need:
1. My cm-10-20120918-FISHEARS-galaxysmtd.zip file (my nightly that has a working kernel with the old partition layout)
2. Any current Nightly zip of CM10
3. A computer with a Zip-capable archive tool
What you need to do:
1. Make a copy of cm-10-20120918-FISHEARS-galaxysmtd.zip and call it something like CM10-FUDGEDATE.zip
2. delete the /system folder from within CM10-FUDGEDATE.zip (or whatever you called it)
3. extract the /system folder from your official CM10 Nightly
4. add that /system folder to your CM10-FUDGEDATE.zip (or whatever you called it)
Now you have a CM10-FUDGEDATE.zip (or whatever you called it) containing the kernel and partition layout from cm-10-20120918-FISHEARS-galaxysmtd.zip and the system from the CM10 Nightly.
Copy CM10-FUDGEDATE.zip (or whatever you called it) to your SD card and flash it in CWM.
Reboot & profit
NOTE: currently you can NOT flash any custom kernels because there aren't any that support the latest CM10 while still having the old partition layout.
Whenever you want to repeat the process for a new Nighly, just do steps 2,3 & 4 again and flash it as before.
Please don't flame this thread. If you think its a bad idea then please state only technical objections to support your view.
All credit to Team Hacksung & Pawitp for the awesome effort that continues to go into CM10.
Well... old partition nightlies worked very good for me.So I will try this.
Anyway I noticed there are some jb ROMs with less changes than yours calling theirselfs stable so far etc.
Will you make thread of cm10 (or call it like you want) with old partition and newest nightly?
Thanks. Sorry for poor English.

Thanks but I don't want to start the hard work of maintaining a ROM thread. This is just instructions to stay up to date.
I do compile my own CM10 which you can download by clicking on my signature. Again, I won't be starting a thread for this as its really just for me but I don't mind sharing.
I will change the thread title though.

That's good to know. I think we both must have phones with the faster NAND because I didn't see any improvement when the official partition layout changed.

Managed to install your rom, and I got what I want. However I have a probler with Adaway said: /data/data/host not enough spare. Try Adfree solve the problem. Anyway thank you for the idea and rom.
Edit: Just discovered that System had only 300k free space out of 350MB. Maybe I have to delete some not important apk (like those live wallpapers) & unused ringtones.
Edit2: After deleting Chinese & Korean fonts Droidsansfallback , MTL* & Nanum Gothic, I got 12MB free space and Adaway runs smoothly.

Maybe I'll have to trim it down in the future.

A rom more in line with the Slim Bean philosophy (about 280mb system with google apps) would even allow you to create a larger datadata partition (at the expense of unused system partition space, circa 80mb) and improve usability. Using this mind-frame i guess we could gain some 50mb to datadata while still keeping 30mb free in system for people who want to add some removed system apps.
Nevertheless, this is your rom and ultimately your decision.

Its a good idea & perfectly possible. Pawitp just asked for some chip id data in the CM10 thread. It looks like lags could be associated with phones having the older Samsung MoviNand chip. Newer devices have a Sandisk iNand (same as Nexus S). I have the Sandisk so that's why the new partition layout made no difference to me. I'm not sure that increasing datadata would help. I don't use it because I don't see any gain in practice.

Nope. We dont have a coder right now so all modifications were done by me to have a stable ICS. I took the zip that bronxitas made and added tweaks and removed files to make it faster and smoother. So i thought it would work because that zip was working fine.

Easy just copy and paste into the run script of a CWM zip or in AROMA... I assume this will be done?

This basically removes any rom related files in /data partition

If you're deleting /data/data, you're losing app data so would still need to add titanium restore to this process surely? So its only saving you restoring the apks?

If you use Philz recovery there is a complete Rom cleaning script included.

I use it and for me is the best Recovery I have found.
But I think the CWM cleaning scripts do a full wipe / Dalvik ...
And the one here is a diferent aproach.
I do not think this can really work because most of the time, the data that is saved is for system specific data like settings and such. When you flash a new rom which has a different set of settings and system built in apps, the data that is from the old conflicts with the new.
I only dirty flash when I am moving between same based roms but going from CM to Stock it makes sense to do a full wipe.

If you look at the script, it deletes /data/data where that "system data" is stored. It deletes pretty much everything except /data/app, which is why it seems pointless to me

Smartisan OS out for Note 2

As the title states this Chinese ROM has been released for our phone. From what I gather it is similar to MIUI in the sense of it being a rather hefty redesign of the default Android UI.
Did anyone get to try it on their phone ?
You can grab it from here : http://www.smartisan.cn/download.html

Might have to try that this weekend. Does anyone know if it has en-GB locale?

US English available as system language.
Not prerooted but a search for smartisan on XDA gave a flashable zip from sgs3 section that sorted that.
Quite iOS:ish impression on the whole.
Responsive and snappy UI.

Tried it. Fairly decent. Superficially, the 3x3 grid size is off-putting. Even the 4x4 grid size isn't any better. Apart from that, very responsive and snappy ui as reported by blorro. All in all, good for a weekend experiment.

Was just about to reflash to another ROM and the OTA Updater on Smartisan notified of an Alpha Update.
Seemingly some call recording functions added now and recording editing possibilities.
The clock seems to get an overhaul as well.

How's it for a daily driver? Any knows issues? Camera/Sound/calls all working fine?
Do you install it just like any other custom ROM? i.e. root, move zip to SD card and flash it via recovery?

Been running it as a daily for past 3 days, no issues detected.
Make sure you have updated CWM recovery since it's 4.2.2
Backup EFS (Dr Ketan has a good tool for it,check his thread)
install from .zip as usual.
For root access, i found this on SGS3 Q&A Forum:

For those like me, do test in Chinese rom Smartisan OS, and want to root, use this link, and flash in recovery, go to the icon Su and run it, it worked for me in 90%, reinstalled my APPs by Titatiun Backup just can not acessoa the backup folder Titaniun that is on the card, but transfer this folder to the internal memory and I could install 90% of my apps.
I used this link:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shar...18152&third=15
==============================================================================================================================================================
Flashed , then i ran titanium restore w/o issues.
After flashing update via OTA, root access was kept.
I have downloaded the ROM but before going ahead I want to ask whether this is SDS safe or not and would it change the modem also as if it change the modem there are chances of efs corrupt

Oh no trouble just people who forget about flash it could run into troubles but if you follow correctly and flash it I don't think there is any trouble at all,
Jasmine roms suggest a "Turning Kernel tool" call kernel adiutor from Google Play for some people experiencing troubles with emotion kernel, if any devs out there or themers of roms could tune kernels could modified emotion to overclock or either fix emotion to run smoother

@MatroxD I was having the same issue on Jasmine ROM. This worked for me to get the driver installed. Go to your Super SU app then go to settings scroll down to Mount Namespace Seperation and UNcheck the box and reboot. Also make sure you have busybox installed. I still can't get it to work but at least my driver is installed now. I think my problem is trying to remember how to set up my music player. I use Poweramp and I remember from my S5 days there are certain thins to do in settings on Poweramp.
?If someone helps you, plz thank them?
