hello
i wipe evrything on my phone
and want to flash purity rom again
but i dont know how to transfer the ROM zip file to the phone if there is no OS ??
Do you still have custom recovery eg. TWRP or Clockworkmod?
If you have a custom recovery, you should be able to flash the ROM from your PC using ADB, or possibly copy the ROM zip from your PC to the Nexus while it is in the Recovery menu. (My PC recognizes my Nexus as removable storage, so like a flashdrive, when plugged in while in the CWM menu).

Boot into twrp. Go to advanced and use adb sideload. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48231226

I prefer cwm touch which you can get from the site. Or you can flash the button version from rommanager
Twrp does work tho, but I've read issues with restoring backups.
Booting into recovery on the device in a way is messed up. The button combo method to enter using the bootloader hangs when not connected to a PC, so there are two options on getting into recovery.
A. Connect to a PC and use bootloader
B. With a working OS, reboot to recovery using an app such as rommanager or goomanager
If you ever flash a rom that won't boot, u need to connect to a PC and boot into recovery via bootloader (button combo).

I use TWRP and had successfully restored now a couple of times. Once was a complete device replacement where I restored the TWRP restore files from my workstation.
How I do my backups to ensure I can restore from a total loss.

Ah, I was curious if this bug still existed or not.
I'd go with CWM, quite stable, easy to use, and you can flash the touch recovery, speeds it up.

Thanks, I read somewhere that if you go into system/ and rename recovery-from-boot.p to recovery-from-boot.bak, fixes the bootloop...can anyone confirm this... thank in advance

Try it. Bootloader issue still exists regardless.

I'm a TWRP guy all the way. I have never had an issue restoring a backup, and the ability to compress my nandroid is invaluable.

Hey guys! I need some help flasing this ROM on my Nexus 7, [ROM] Eclipse 2.1 Grouper - Build 1 - Welcome to the Dark!! (10/12/12)....
Every single time I try to flash it, it never works. I do the following, I install goomanager and flash TWRP recovery. I install all the necessary things to get it running. I transfer the ROM along with the zip file to flash google apps to the internal storage. I then boot to recovery, wipe/cashe/factory reset/devlik. But then I lose the files and cant flash the ROMs. I just flashed stock google jelly bean. Any suggestion/help with this?
Install Clockworkmod recovery, then make a full wipe and flash the rom

I find it easiest to download directly to my N7 "sd card". I use CWM but reboot to recovery, wipe data and then flash ROM from zip on the "sd card" and then reboot.

So, when I do the factory reset, it'll wipe the internal storage but not the 'sd card'?
Yes, only internal storage

Alright, now how do I get there? I used EZ File Explorer and placed the 2 zip files in the download file. Is that the correct place?
Any location is good, just to be on the sd card

I normally just leave it in the download folder. In order to flash it, you just go into recovery and do your steps. When it asks for a location, just direct it to the folder you placed it in and flash.
p.s. don't forget about wipe

Nevermind! I got it to work! I left it out in the root folder like you guys said and the file was still there after the reset! Flashed ROM to the eclipse ROM! Thanks for all your help! :victory: ^_^
Glad you got it to work, but to answer your question, you wipe first then flash the new rom (so you have a clean slate). You don't want to install over other roms unless maybe if it was a minor update of the same rom.

Hey guys, I'm new to XDA and have been struggling to fix this problem of mine. I was recently flashing a custom rom and my phone entered a boot loop. I went to the recovery mode and tried installing it again, rebooting, and factory reset, all of which did not work. Also I do not have a nandroid on the phone. I'm hoping to put a different rom onto the sd and installing it in an attempt to get out of this boot loop. Any help would be much appreciated.
Use adb or fastboot to flash the rom directly of your PC.

Just use ADB if you're in the recovery.
Put the ROM.zip in the same folder as your cmd window is in and type
adb push ROM.zip /storage/emulated/0/
does mount usb storage in clockworkmod still work ?
just checked... no there is no option for that, too bad it was useful
What recovery are you using?

So I've gotten to this part and I'm not seeing "Mount USB Storage". The options it gives me are "mount system, mount data, mount cache, and mount sd card". I tried selecting mount sd card and it will not select. Maybe my phone is acting up??
You cant mount the phone as storage while in recovery, what you have to do is use adb sideload in the advance menu. more info here: http://teamw.in/ADBSideload what it does is move the zip to the phone and install, because of the way our phone works its easier to just have your rom and gapps already on the phone before you enter the recovery.
I just fixed it. Turns out the root toolkit I had was able to push the files onto my phone. I feel like a retard but I really do appreciate the help from everyone. Thanks. :good:

Because I don't know what app it is I have no idea what it did so what I would do is go to recovery and do the following command to every file you want:
adb pull /sdcard/Some_file.txt C://Users/Your_name/Desktop/Some_folder/Some_file.txt
If possible you can make a backup of the internal storage and restore when you reflash your rom or something if you have TWRP also moving the image file to your PC using ADB Pull.
After backing up you have to use this tool with your device on the bootloader menu: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occamjwr66v
You can restore your files afterwards but if you originally used a custom rom then flash the custom rom.

dunno if it works for your variant but if ya plug it in in download mode and open the lg mobile support tool then you can (on my version LG D802) go to options and upgrade recovery the pc will download a 2.13gb file and place it back on the phone in stock form then you just ioroot again and then flash a recovery again
