I've read that 4.1 allows USB audio output, for example at http://www.head-fi.org/t/616118/android-4-1-finally-usb-audio .
Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to do to get my lovely DAC / headphone amp taking a USB feed from the I337? For one thing, can the I337 be the USB host, or do I need some sort of OTG cable?
The DAC has a mini-B plug.

Hey guys, I am trying to make a connection for my car and was wondering if the MDA outputs audio through the USB port. If it does could someone show me a diagram of which pins it is on a normal sized port assuming using the standard full size USB port to the mini USB cable. Could someone also show me which pins are the power input pins as well and will it take a source that outputs 5V DC at 1A. Thanks guys.

Try BlueTooth. Also, there is an HTC manual in the FTP folders, check it out.

I currently have the supplies to do it the normal wired way thats why I prefer it that way. Bluetooth would be nice though.

Thanks. sorry i thought i remembered someone saying that there was a headset that plugged into the usb port so i assumed that it might have output sound from the usb port if this were true. Can someone tell me which pins are the ones that supplies power?
It seams that the change to the MHL cable is to allow USB on Go with the same cable

there is a MHL adapter that gives you a male 11 pin micro USB to female HDMI so you can just plug a standard male to male HDMI cable from adapter to TV.
see:
Samsung Galaxy S III MHL to HDMI adapter
Does anyone know if this new adapter will work with the Galaxy Nexus, as well? Also, does it charge the phone--or at least keep it from being drained--when USB OTG is being used? I've been looking for a way to use USB OTG with a flash drive on my GN while also charging/powering the phone. USB OTG is a real power hog.
It should, but on mine it doesn't.
I've got a new MHL cable and a USB OTG cable in the hope I could plug my MHL into the SGS3, use a powered USB hub connected to the Micro USB on the MHL and then connect a keyboard and mouse into the USB hub, then connect the HDMI to the TV.
For me it doesn't work. I thought this was the whole reason they changed the MHL cable to the new type. Can anyone else confirm?
Logicalstep
can we get an update on this situation here? How
can we get MHL AND USB OTG?
My reading of the link is that the micro USB port has been repinned to provide USB on the go and not that the cable allows for this.On the mhl cable there is a female HDMI port and a micro USB ( both female) which must be used by the charger.
If the usb connection is also female type, we have to use a usb otg cable to get it work. But at the moment my phone also wont recognize any devices -.-' only mhl and nothing else.
I bought this adapter for 25 euros and want to have it working.
I also asked samsung on facebook 'bout this problem, and everything the told me:
Go support site...
very helpful.
I hope the will enable this feature in a future update.
Whats the best ROM for USB audio to work flawlessly. My nexus 7 needs to be nothing but the head unit of my car hooked up to my fiio e10 USB DAC which will go to the amps of my car. Usb audio isn't working yet. Link me to the best ROM and kernel to do this please?
outputs
Is there such a thing? I thought that the nexus 7 had no outputs of any kind..

You need an otg cable. The only way it works is if I reboot the tablet with the otg hooked up to my Fiio E10 USB DAC. Ifni unplug the otg then my tablet freezes every time. It does that with my USB flash drive as well. I can't even access files on my flash drive. It sees the drive but it shows no files at all.
Bump. I need usb hot plug.
hey,
normally you would need an otg cable to drive an external usb dac.
does it make a difference, that this phone has no headphone jack
and therefore has standard audio output over usb or do i still need
an otg cable?
best regards, willert.

if only using an USB-C to 3,5mm adapter you donĀ“t but for any DAC you need an OTG AdapterCable.
just for reference i use this one and it works perfectly:
http://hifimediy.com/DACs/ready-made-dacs/Sabre-9018-Type-C-DAC
thanks for your answer!
but are usb-c to 3.5 adapters basically dac's?
although they then probably also just use an otg cable
this is the one i am planning to use with me pro 3 when it arrives: http://www.head-fi.org/products/cozoy-aegis-portable-24-192-dac-amp
So whats the situation with the usb dacs and the s8. Is there a way to bypass the ipsampling?i know you need a new cable wirh usb c otg to make dac works. Do dacs work with Spotify as well?
