Why can't port proprietary from GE to CM11 and such? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As we know our i9505 has Google Play Edition, which is pure AOSP.
And the ROM like CM11,PA and other AOSP based ROM always have some problem with hardware here or there (like camera? )
So if we have GE ROM and it's AOSP, why can't port it to CM11 or something to make the ROM better?

Big confusion about AOSP and stock rom, help...

This is my first nexus device,
i often hear how great AOSP, and AOKP is. being pure google experience.
So AOSP is pure google, and the most famous one is cyanogen team which makes cyanogen mod.
AOKP is based on cyanogen works and they add more stuff to their kang roms.
i'm seeing some roms in development thread labeled as aosp.
isn't the nexus7 stock rom considered aosp?
what's going on?
The ROMs on nexus devices are AOSP. Cyanogenmod is compiled from aosp. But with changes.
ROMs labeled AOSP will be based from 'pure android'.
Hope this answered your question

Question about Different ROM bases.

So I want to install a custom rom but I am confused as to which I should use. I've read different roms and I've seen that they have different rom "bases" like cm 10.1, aokp, aosp, and PA(does it have a different rom base?). Just a question, what is the differences among them? Please help so I can decide which to flash.
Hmmm, good question, well most of the ROMs here are build off of official ROM source and thats what it means by base and the difference between them is almost everything from ui to features and stuff like that and to know which ROMs you like try flashing the the official ROMs like AOKP, CM, AOSP, and PA and then once you find the base you like then flash the other ROMs that are customized versions built from that ROM base

All of these ROMs are built from AOSP; that's Android Open Source Project. It's where Google officially releases the source code. All custom ROMs on this type of device will be built on AOSP. If a ROM says it has CM or AOKP base, that means they built it off the source code for that ROM (which is initially built off AOSP) and added their own tweaks or whatever.

Are there any other Google Edition ROMs?

I was pretty excited about having a GE ROM soon after it was announced/released. There's that one ROM that is a direct port of the Google Edition ROM, but it seems like every other ROM is either TouchWiz or AOSP of some sort. I liked the possibility of having AOSP with Samsung features, but the ROM has stopped development for months now and no one seemed to have picked it up. I've searched the forums/Google with no avail.
Google Edition Rom
Try the OctOS Google Edition Rom, it works like a charm and is actively maintained. The latest build has a flaw where the kernel didn't flash correctly, so flash the KT-SGS4 AOSP 4.3 kernel afterwards (not the Google Edition kernel).

Is there any stable version of CM (or any rom) for I9500?

Hello
I am fed up of the TouchWiz look and feel.
I want to stay closest to AOSP in look and feel, apps, etc.
All Android 4.3 and 4.4 versions posted on XDA have some or the other bugs for I9500 (in both Android development and Android Original development)
When I checked CM downloads. there is one 10.2 stable build for I9505 (Officially supported) on their site.
All unofficial builds are ported on XDA, and I9500 is an unofficial device for CM.
For I9500, on XDA, we have both CM 10.2 nightlies and CM 11 nightlies. But none of them have any stable builds.
Also, no AOKP, Slim, etc.
Where can I get a pure AOSP look and feel kind of ROM. Even Android 4.2.2 will also do.

Is there a stock AOSP kitkat rom that has no features just clean?

I want to know if there is a stock untouched aosp kitkat rom just like the nexus 5 stock kitkat rom?
i do not mean CM or PA or any of those just clean stock rom
Whenever Houston started building his PA builds ages ago, they were pure stock, but there really isn't any pure AOSP ROM's atm. I tried porting a N5 pure stock ROM to the G2, but i couldn't get it booting And it is not a problem of hardware, i have made Galaxy Note 1 ROM's run on my G2 ok
